I'm sure we will see many scandals yet unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I agree. The split-key stuff can't get developed fast enough IMO. It won't prevent all scandals, but it will put a HUGE dent in the numbers when it gets used properly.

it won't get used properly.

just like gpg, truecrypt, dropbox, backups, safe deposit boxes, etc. don't get used properly.

6.4 please

4.6 please

(not done stocking up yet, haha)

Someone got left behind by the rally train!  We have to go back for them!

seriously. i'm actually proud of you to have changed your position from bearish to bullish so quickly.  thats the sign of a good trader.  so many others refused to do so and now look at them...

Permabears are in deep shit right now, that's for sure.  I know people who shorted at $2, and when it went up they didn't cut their losses... oops.

i've always been long-term bullish.

previously, i was bullish and got excited whenever the price went up.

currently, i'm bullish, but want the price to go down (and stay down for 3 to 6 months while i inject more fiat)

day trading vs swing trading?

depends on how much sleep you want to get.

of course, (trailing) stop loss orders would also help.

How do I check if I can lend anything?
I don't see any message that says that I can lend an amount on the website.
Or do I have to transfer some Bitcoins first?

It's in the original post under storage availability.

where are you storing our coins by the way? mybitcoin.com?

No, you know better than that.  They are safe at instawallet. Ok, the real answer.  I keep two wallets, one storage wallet and an operation wallet.  The storage wallet is zipped, password protected and stored on a TruCrypt volume that is backed up by my mirrored drives, Dropbox and Carbonite.  The operation wallet is open when I'm at the machine but when I'm away its stored on the encrypted volume.  That's about it. Smiley

great.

also i'll ask you what i asked of shakaru... what recourse do investors have if you drop dead tomorrow? can your wife/girlfriend sort us out or are we s.o.l?

Can't go into many details but I can assure you that a dead man's switch is in place. Smiley  No worries.

I often think about my wife killing me for the insurance money. Smiley

awesome, good to know, thanks.

and a good reminder for me to organise a dead man's switch myself.

1874  Economy / Economics / Re: The early-adoptor unfairness on: January 04, 2012, 09:48:55 PM
bitcoins are valuable only in as much as they can be widely used as an exchange medium, yet all those who acquire or have them treat them as a long term investment, preventing their very spread which would enable bitcoins to fulfill their promise.

with at least 8 decimal places, this does nothing at all to prevent their spread.

even with massive hoarding, the remaining 3.62 btc could still be introduced and sold to millions of people.

");

It also gives me an incentive not to withdraw my Bitcoins, so that one day i will become an early adopter.
This doesn't actually work. It's the age of your account that counts.

it would work if people before him quit, moving him up the ladder.

the freight train through the car park wasn't me by the way.
1879  Economy / Speculation / Re: How big a share of bitcoins should a person keep for hedging purposes? on: January 03, 2012, 04:53:50 AM
i have 90% of my net worth in bitcoin, although my net worth isn't particularly high at the moment. mostly random bits of furniture and a new pc.
1880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who just sold? on: January 02, 2012, 01:50:56 PM
i didn't sell, but would be selling a few if i didn't have my coins a bit tied up.

for me, it's not hard to imagine being able to buy for at least as low as $4.00 again if you're patient... maybe feb/march even.
