1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I see no difference between Elon Musk and McAfee on: May 13, 2021, 06:58:38 PM
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever compare Elon Musk with John McAfee. But that time has come now. What Elon is doing is pure manipulation.. although I don't think that he is profiting out of it. I can no longer classify his actions as "trolling". And I really don't know why he's doing this. John McAfee promoted shitcoins for monetary rewards. But why Elon is promoting them? As far as I know, he is not getting any payments.
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 13, 2021, 06:45:38 PM
@SaShiRaJaVu, in the end only money is going to matter. The corporate powerhouses from Pune and Ahmedabad will be successful in purchasing the franchises, while more populous states such as Uttar Pradesh as well as backward regions such as Northeast will be left out. I agree with @bryant.coleman that a second division can be formed. This will give more representation to regions that are otherwise not represented in the IPL.
1143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: May 13, 2021, 03:30:45 PM
What about the POOL? Are we going to have the pool started after the IPL resume again? Or this IPL pool will be stopped?
Asking this as I may miss the information up to date. I would be happy with waiting for IPL to be resumed.
ATM chances looking thin for the IPL so overall everyone decided through vote that pool amount should be transfer to the upcoming T-20 WC but if by any chance (Big if) BCCI got opportunity to resume the IPL before the T-20 WC then obviously this pool will continue with existing pool amount.

From what I have heard the BCCI is planning to conduct the remainder of the IPL just before the T20 World Cup. Because until September, the calendar is already jampacked. Now it needs to be seen how long it takes to negotiate with the Emirates Cricket Board and to bring all the franchises on board. The England players have already made it clear that they will not be participating in any resumption this year. I guess the other foreign players are also quite doubtful as far as the participation is concerned.
1144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 13, 2021, 03:17:22 PM
If someone willing to spend much money that BCCI was asking then surely a team can takes place from the region you are talking about but do they have anyone like rich individual or famous actor who can afford or who did with the local tournaments like that.

LOL.. we don't have any billionaires in the northeast. The richest person is Badruddin Ajmal, who has net worth of around ₹2,000 crores ($270 million). Previously only Assam and Tripura were represented in the Ranji trophy from our region. After the Lodha reforms, other states were also allowed to field their own teams. But if they want IPL to be a truly pan-Indian league, then they should allow one team from this region. After all, even for the other franchises a majority of the players are not locals.
1145  Economy / Economics / Re: Africa needs to fix continent, richest people are politicians on: May 13, 2021, 02:57:40 PM
Politician stole money and invest it in industries the reason why it is difficult to get that of Africa is because of the hunger and poor standard of living. Most African countries operate a democratic system of government. When the time come to make changes through voting. Voters are being bribed and they sell their right for penny

I disagree with the last part. A large number of countries in the African continent are under military rule. I am talking about Sudan, Mali, Chad.etc. Some, like Libya and the CAR are undergoing civil war and doesn't have working governments. And even in countries where there is democracy, there are large scale incidence of voter intimidation and election irregularities. So you can't really blame all of the voters. But I agree that there is a tendency to vote based on ethnic and religious lines in Africa.
1146  Economy / Economics / Re: April 2021 set a new record India. How much effect in Indian economy? on: May 13, 2021, 02:40:49 PM
Thank you, very informative, and perhaps more realistic than articles in the media.
I have only 1 question - about "Sputnik" - why do you have such an interest in this dubious drug? How can it be useful for India, if its production in the Russian Federation is insignificant, it is not enough even to cover its internal needs, while in India itself, the CoviShield vaccine is produced, which is certified, and it has been tested for safety?

We don't have any other choice.

I am waiting for my turn ever since the vaccination program started in India (3 months back). But for now, those who are aged below 45 has no chance of getting a slot, at least for the next 2-3 months. Covishield and Covaxin are being manufactured in India at a rate of around 1.5 million doses per day. And the government has specified that those who are above the age of 45 years will be given priority and those aged <45 are low priority for them. As per the government directive, 70% of the vaccine supply has to be used as the second dose.

A number of my relatives and friends have recently died as a result of COVID. At this point, I really don't care whether it is Sputnik or Sinovac. I just want to get vaccinated using any vaccine that is available. And the strain that has emerged in India (B.1.617) seems to be a hundred times more contagious than the original strain.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 13, 2021, 02:14:22 PM
Yes, it's likely to happen but what states are going to be included? Does anyone have an idea about it?
Pune will be a strong contender and then Gujarat might get a team and it would be great if we have a team from Kerala as well.

I will not prefer an additional team from Maharashtra. They already have Mumbai Indians. IPL need to represent all Indians. So when there is a team from Mumbai, I don't think that another one should be permitted in Pune. Also, Gujarat and Rajashthan should be merged into one team. If there are two teams for these two states then it will result in over-representation. I have the same opinion regarding Kerala as well. South Indian states are over-represented right now. Why no one wants a team from the Northeast? Being a resident of Tripura (and born in Mizoram), I would love to see a team from either Assam, Tripura or Meghalaya.
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Want Tesla To Accept Doge? on: May 12, 2021, 05:20:10 PM
Why does such a rich man make manipulative moves regarding cryptocurrency? Doge unfortunately does not deserve these prices. Its total supply is not clear. Nobody purchases with crypto, even with another coin, not with Elon Doge. For example, I wouldn't. The pizza example always comes to my mind.

There is no doubt that many of the altcoins are heavily overpriced at these levels. And Dogecoin is the worst. It is overpriced by a factor of 100x or 200x. Look at the adoption and acceptability. It is nowhere when compared to Bitcoin. And even when compared to other altcoins, it fares really worse. Unfortunately, when the prices are going up, no one really cares about anything else. They will analyze these only when the prices crash and they lose their hard earned money.
1149  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: May 12, 2021, 05:06:58 PM
Here I disagree a little - I have not seen a single example from real life, where the lumpenized masses, making a "socialist coup", as the "Internationale" bequeathed, put the former aristocrats / bourgeoisie at the top of the government. Always at the top were extremely cruel, sadists with a large number of complexes, who then realized them through their permissiveness, or the status of "gods on earth". There are plenty of examples - from Russia in 1917 to Pol-Pot and similar scum. The main problem is that the foundation of the idea of building a "socialist paradise" is built on the concepts laid down in the "International" and the concept of "red terror" and "dictatorship of the proletariat", and there it is openly written: "kill the rich, divide their wealth among all the poor. No private property, no democracy, no right to choose, whoever doesn't like it is a traitor and an enemy and must be destroyed. " Take and compare this idea with what was implemented in the USSR, North Korea, North Vietnam, Cambodia, Pakistan, China ... - 100% "fulfillment of covenants." And as a result, tens of millions of destroyed people, their own population ..

The same methodology is used in all the countries. Here in India, there are left-wing guerilla groups such as People's War Group and the Maoist Communist Centre of India. The aim of these groups are the same. Kill the rich people, and then redistribute their land and other valuable articles to the poor people. Back in the 90s, everyday we would read reports of massacres carried out by these groups in newspapers (and also of retaliatory attacks by right-wing groups). It is very easy to manipulate the poor people, especially if they are illiterate. 90% of the poor have a deep seated hatred for the rich people. And then there are manipulative people who exploit this hatred for their own benefit.
1150  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 12, 2021, 04:49:19 PM
Elon is trying to keep Dogecoin afloat. 2-3 days back, the prices had crashed by 40% within 24 hours.

Afloat? Take a look at the prices a month or two ago, if he had indeed been buying at the time people assume he did he by now has already made x50 on that investment, doge was well under 1cent before all this madness started. Why would he even try? If he was in just for the money he could have simply ditched this and strated his own coin, you realize what strat that altcoin would have with all the influence he has?
He's no Ver or CSW to resort to desperate moves.
Right now he's doing this for fun, some people buy 200m long yachts, some hunt in Africa, Musk enjoys having a troll day on twitter, probably every time he does even he is suprised by how much influence he has.

He is doing manipulation on behalf of various Dogecoin whales, who have probably promised a substantial chunk of their profits to him.

Lol, are you seriously thinking this?
The world richest man is doing bounty work ?

First of all, I am not a conspiracy theorist. But Elon Musk's recent behavior is very suspicious. Previously I would have considered such tweets as pure trolling. But nowadays, the intention is suspicious. Especially his tweet, which came at a time when Dogecoin price was down by 40%. I have to admit that I don't have any proof for any sort of manipulation being done by Elon. But right now a lot of madness is going on with this shitcoin. Maybe I was not logical or rational. But let's wait for a few more weeks and see what happens to Doge.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: May 12, 2021, 02:17:39 PM
IMO, people with unsound mental state should not be allowed to gamble. In many of the countries around the world, before being able to purchase a firearm, you need to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The same should be made mandatory for gambling as well. Those who are vulnerable to gambling addiction should not be allowed in to casinos or online sites. I agree that for online gambling, it is very difficult to implement the rules. But it is necessary to implement strict rules.
1152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-26] The IRS is warning thousands of cryptocurrency holders to pay taxes on: May 12, 2021, 01:59:59 PM
They have no reason to go after 50 million people when 99%+ of these people properly reported their income.
I assume there are no actual public data for this, but I would be very surprised if only less than 1% of US citizens had not properly reported their cryptocurrency gains or losses. I suspect the real figure is much higher, which is why the IRS are pushing exchanges to hand over the info. If it were only a handful of users, then their resources would be better spent elsewhere, like going after bankers who abuse loopholes to avoid tax (HA! Like they are ever going to do that.) I also suspect that if the number were really this low, the IRS wouldn't be putting the cryptocurrency question right on the front page of the 1040 and forcing literally everyone in the country to answer it.

I have heard that US citizens need to report each and every cryptocurrency transaction made by them in the income tax return, as per the directive from the IRS. Now how many out of 50 million could have done this? I strongly suspect that a majority of the low volume users might have ignored this directive. And I don't think that the IRS will go after them for $100 or $200 in pending taxes. But they are moving very slowly. Only around 10,000 have been sent the notice till now. 10K out of 50 million... And out of that 10K, I assume a majority would be letter 6174.
1153  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 12, 2021, 01:45:20 PM
Elon is trying to keep Dogecoin afloat. 2-3 days back, the prices had crashed by 40% within 24 hours. Then there were a few tweets from Elon and the prices again went back to the previous levels. It is clear that he is manipulating the prices. He is exploiting the influence he has in social media, to create a pump-and-dump cycle with Dogecoin. The SEC can't do anything here, because he doesn't own any Dogecoin. He is doing manipulation on behalf of various Dogecoin whales, who have probably promised a substantial chunk of their profits to him.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 12, 2021, 01:18:15 PM
This is current talent pool of Indian cricket. Its good to have such kind headache but it poses challenges too like how to select your best XI. Ofc their would be some bias and some players might feel neglected in the process, might look unfair to us but that's how things work in the real world, nothing is fair.

There needs to be a separate selection board and the captain and coach needs to be removed from the selection panel. I don't want to blame Kohli and Damaadji, because they were not the ones who started it. Kohli himself suffered a lot due to the "CSK quota", but now he is doing the same when he has the power. And rather than his poor tactics, this is one of the reasons why I want Kohli out of the captaincy. IMO, someone like Shreyas Iyer may be more suited for that role.
1155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need save Ross Ulbritch now! on: May 12, 2021, 12:27:52 PM
I can only agree with you and for a short moment I thought there might be a tiny chance for him bing pardoned by Trump, but if am not mistaken Trump ignored the topic to a great extent. I can only repeat myself that if he ordered murder on behalf of others that throws a dark shadow on him and his story eternally. Even though it is a moral debate ultimately, there is still a difference between running a marketplace where you can buy dope and running a marketplace where you can order a hitman to kill somebody for you. The latter isn't about freedom to me.

According to the jailed FBI agent (Shaun Bridges), he manipulated Ross Ulbricht and made him believe that one of his accomplices had stolen his funds. As per Bridges, he convinced Ulbricht to murder Curtis Clark Green. If Biridges is true, then Ulbricht made a huge mistake. But I don't know whether we can believe Shaun Bridges. He is the same person who stole half a million USD worth of BTC from the Silk Road wallet. I agree with you. If the allegation is correct, then there is absolutely no justification for that.
1156  Economy / Speculation / Re: One Year After The 2020 Halving, Bitcoin Price Has Gained 533% on: May 12, 2021, 12:14:26 PM
LOL.. Anyone remember the mood here after block reward halving? A few months before the halving event, there was a lot of hype and whales were accumulating BTC. But then the stock market crashed around the time of halving and the BTC prices also went down. What rescued Bitcoin was the announcement from PayPal that they will be integrating Bitcoin to their platform in October 2020. And then there was another spike that resulted from the announcements by Elon.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 12, 2021, 12:01:17 PM
Now Devdutt Padikkal is someone who in my eyes represent the future for India. Unfortunately the selectors have ignored him for quite a long time. Almost all the other youngsters have got a chance to represent India, but Devdutt is still waiting for his chance. Perhaps he doesn't have powerful backers in national team unlike the case with some of the other younger players.
Devdutt Padikkal is still a young player. It is better not to give him a chance in the national team now. He is talented enough. He needs to be more prepared to serve the Indian cricket team for a long time. If given a chance in the national team without being properly prepared, this talent is likely to be lost soon. We saw a lot of cricketers, after great performances in the IPL, they were given a chance in the national team. But they were not able to play well in the national team.

LOL.. then why this rule is not applicable to players such as Shaw and Gill? Devdutt is performing really well in the domestic cricket for quite sometime now. He deserves a slot in the national team. On the other hand, Shaw and Gill have wasted whatever opportunity given to them. Another player who deserve a chance right now is Ishan Kishan. He was given just one or two chances and then he was dropped. The selection policy for the national team needs to be consistent.
1158  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla still an unprofitable automaker on: May 11, 2021, 07:27:46 PM
It's only the beginning, before Tesla, there were only few electric cars available on the market. Tesla's patents are open source, more and more companies are releasing full EV models, offering decent range, (above 400kms) who can actually compete with Tesla's vehicles (Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-Tron, Volvo XC40) and many more who are yet to come.

I believe that electric cars have a long way to go, but that technology will be dominant in the future. For instance, Plug-in Hybrids are way cheaper than full EVs, offer great mileage and a decent full electric range.

The other EV brands will take time to capture market share for themselves. It will take many years before they are able to match the level of recognition attained by Tesla. And we still don't know much about the performance of these brands. Companies such as Jaguar and Volvo are pretty new to the EV sector. So if there is some issue with the technology, it is going to be very difficult for these companies to resolve them on time. The patents may be open source, but operational knowledge and experience can't be transferred directly.
1159  Economy / Economics / Re: people stop complain about economy and ccovid on: May 11, 2021, 07:14:30 PM
Although I agree that complaining about it is hardly going to work, let's not forget the fact that the pandemic has pushed tens of millions of people to poverty and have resulted in huge number of people losing their jobs. In the developing nations, the government is also not able to provide welfare benefits to those who are unemployed, as the funds are not enough. Overall, the pandemic has devastated the most vulnerable members of the society.
1160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees lower than alts on: May 11, 2021, 05:50:44 PM
The latest Bitcoin block that was mined (#683132) included only transactions with a fee of 51 Sat/Byte and above. It is very volatile. Earlier today, it was possible even for transactions with a fee of 3-4 Sat/Byte to get instant confirmation as the blocks were largely empty. But after a few hours, they started increasing. Yesterday I paid a fee of 11 Sat/Byte for one of my transactions. But my wallet contained a large number of small inputs, so in the end I had to pay around $5 despite the lower fee in terms of Sat/Byte.
