1162  Other / Meta / Re: RED Trust...is it enough for fraudulent work ??? on: August 11, 2018, 10:49:36 AM
isn't it alarming when we see someone have 1000 merits but got red trust. This kind of profile spoils our forum fame.
If you break forum rules then you should get warned (red tag) it does not matter if you have 1000 merits or you are a legendary member or even admin. Rules are rules. However, a defaulter should have enough rights to explain his reasons. If the reasons are not satisfactory then don't remove the red.

If someone do an on forum bad act (breaking rules) which is confirmed, then tag them but it's too much when you tag someone because you think this could lead to that. The experience you have had and the experience others have are not same besides just because you are a DT does not mean that you are a mind reader.

A confirmed rule breaker should defiantly get red tag, does not matter if he has 1000 merits and even a Legend. And in it I do not see any spoiling on the forum fame.
1163  Other / Meta / Re: RED Trust...is it enough for fraudulent work ??? on: August 11, 2018, 10:31:47 AM
As long as you have trust on the DTs judgement, I think red trust should work. Question is/are...

Do we really blindly trust the DTs red trusts?
Have they positioned themselves much higher that no one will questions their red trust? Not from the fear but from the basic moral.
Do they take enough time before leaving a red trust? A wrong red trust left by them can harm the user in many ways.
Do they give the other person enough time to explain? People have reasons for the acts they do. They have the rights to explain.
If they make mistake on leaving a red trust do they consider a review standing from a neutral point and compromise their ego?

There could be so many parameters to judge the DTs red trust and if you are satisfied and confident with the red trusts they leave then only a red trust should work.
1164  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: N.Exchange unprofessionalism, ICO might be a scam. on: August 11, 2018, 10:13:46 AM
It seems, now a days you can dream for a million dollar business without having a penny in your pocket. I wonder these guys have any fund at all. They are looking forward to the ICO to boost their cryptocurrency wallet. Some of the replies on the texts are really unprofessional.

Hi, why are you saying we are scam?

scamming people for exchange!

If they can not handle these sorts of simple low loaded issues then how could they handle huge customer query and other task loads when they will actually manage to run an exchange.

1165  Other / Meta / Re: Ask for account recover - Some suggestions on: August 11, 2018, 09:38:55 AM
Please accept the fact that this is not all about because of the name its because of the merit why member's want's to recover their old accounts.
I do not agree with you. We do things in past which has our emotions attached. An account holders might have his emotions for an account.

Ofc it is. If you use a strong password and never get phished or infected with a malware, it should be impossible to lose your account. I use a 20+ char password generated with KeePass and keep my OS secured. Never had any issue.
# I use 16+ character on my password combined with possibly everything
# Only me use my PC when I am away my windows is locked
# My connection is fairly secure
# I am well aware of phishing links and stuffs
# I keep my computer clean always.
# The associate email account also have 16+ character password.
# The email account is encrypted with fairly security.
# The email account hosted on the server is also has 16+ character password
# The server has 2FA active
# The server has bought from a highly reputed hosting service provider who are domination the hosting industry.
# All these 16+ character passwords are very different from each others.
# I save my passwords with PGP encryption.

But all these can not guarantee me that any accident will not happen. Anything can happen which you are not aware of and your account can get hacked. Would you blame yourself for it and will wait months long if not years to recover it?
1166  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked account activity on: August 11, 2018, 09:30:16 AM
From here they can carry on being a member of the forum. Upon their account being returned, all stats should be merged including posts and feedback;
The idea seems nice however how would you do this merge things? There will be data loses and this could create a mess which could be bigger than account recovery. In the merging process we will see alter in merit system and trust system which is also against the forum rule. Remember merit and trust are not moderated.

Quote
but the first 3 are what most would be interested in.
What did you mean by first 3?

Quote
reallocate the temporary accounts: Activity, Merit and Smerit.
You are talking about altering Merit and sMerit which we know is not on the rules. Activities can be done but this can create a mess on data arrangement, quoting etc.

1168  Other / Meta / Re: Why do I have to beg to get my account back? on: August 11, 2018, 08:48:41 AM
Do you have any updates about this one? Because it has been almost two months now and we haven't heard any official announcements from theymos about it yet (he didn't even made it official with a thread announcement). Coming from a private message from KWH it looks like theymos wants the development of this system on closed doors meaning the implementation of this new system might not be final yet as coming from his private message he might be busy as the news system implementation is already one month behind schedule.
No, I do not have anymore information than this. Perhaps we can ask KWH about it.

Personally I am waiting for this feature to be implemented. I feel myself insecure for my account. The stuffs are happening with account recovery should need to be improved. We can not just blame the users for getting their accounts hacked. Any account could get compromised no matter how hard is your security system.

It could a bot or someone turned his notify button on for the section and once they get notification of a new post then they go an post that custom text LOL.

Fantastic. I will lock the topic once I hear a response from a mod. Please (mod) let me know once the job done.

Same message repeating on all the topics. archive

The users post history is 8 pages long so far and most of the posts (except 1 or 2) are the same copy paste. My observation is, whenever he see any new topic on the Announcements (Altcoins), he goes and pitch this custom annoying text. The user has so far 158 posts and a Jr already. My question is can he be ban? To me it seems like spamming and he is doing it a lot.

I already reported some of his posts with the following comment:
Quote
spamming the forum with same shit on the topics. Please see the post history

I don't think it worth reporting all of his posts, it's better to ban him so that he can not spam the forum anymore like the way he is doing now.
1171  Other / Meta / Re: Whitelist & possible (confirmed) altcoin giveaway? on: August 10, 2018, 07:01:01 PM
Is there an official mention of the activity cooling times for all the ranks here?  Is it also related to activity?
It's related to posts, reporting, PM etc. What I figured is, it's for every input that comes from a user. In that case it is also valid when you want to send merits to others, give trusts etc.

PS: I will lock the topic after 24 hours from now since I already have my answers here. May be some of you would be interested to whiteliste your accounts  Cheesy
1172  Other / Meta / Re: Whitelist & possible (confirmed) altcoin giveaway? on: August 10, 2018, 06:31:02 PM
I trashed the thread and whitelisted you, but it probably won't do much if anything because it's only meant for newer/lower-ranked users.
Thanks a lot for the whitelisting, I will give you feedback if I get caught again. Also thanks for deleting that topic. I was freaking out while reporting those posts LOL

Update:
The cooling period is now 4secs. This is more than enough to move one tab to another.

Thanks again!  Cheesy

Campaign manager, please note this member appears to have gotten his required merits through illicit means.  Make no mistake, he's a shitposter and shouldn't be accepted into any signature campaign, especially one with a merit requirement.

I am vouching the same for this user. He possibly traded those merits.

1175  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: August 10, 2018, 04:17:18 PM
I can get rank donator if donate 15 BTC to BITCOIN FORUM?

Save your money, the forum isn’t actively looking for investment now. The 10 bitcoin’s required to gain Donator status was a long time ago when bitcoin was worth a lot less.

Seriously don’t send that money to the forum. If you’re uber rich give it to several much more needing charities or get involved in your local area helping disadvantaged kids or something.
I don't think House4life was serious LOL
Besides he was asking a question only  Grin
1176  Other / Meta / Re: Is bitcointalk being flooded with bots? on: August 10, 2018, 04:07:14 PM

That would be extremely annoying to anyone that uses public wifi, or any sort of VPN/TOR.

It's already an almost impossible task to do google captcha's on a tor browser, let alone if you have to do it multiple times for each post that you make.
That's why my suggestion was for only newbies and Jr. Members. I do not think a legit newbie/Jr. Member posts that much. Twice or thrice a day? A legit one basically will spend more time on reading then posting IMO. We can be more flexible by reducing the captcha requirement only for Newbies, if we want.

We already have a restriction for newbies, which is can not posting image. We can easily add the capcha requirement for them as well. Both can be lifted if they buy copper membership.
1177  Other / Meta / Re: Why do I have to beg to get my account back? on: August 10, 2018, 03:57:02 PM
Where did he say this?

Here are my sources...

How long will it take to be implemented? I hope that this system will work when the new bitcointalk forum has been launched. Sending PM thru theymos and Cyrus really eats a lot of time.
I couldn't find the post. But I'll try better tomorrow.

IIRC, the PM was from ~1 month ago and theymos said that he would try to code it in a few weeks. So it should be out soon. So it will definitely be available in the current forum software (SMF), and not only when the new software comes out.

The problem with the current system is that there is too many PM's and just theymos and Cyrus to check, verify the messages, deal with the members and recover the accounts. And they probably have a lot to do other than spend their day recovering hacked/lost accounts.

Give me a few minutes and I will find the PM someone received from theymos where he says that he is developing a system to automatically prove you own an account with your staked address.

You realize a number of eye balls are looking at you now?(!)  Smiley
Just to help and post the reference "TryNinja" was looking for (in case he/she had difficulty in finding it):

If you have not posted that addy elsewhere, it probably won't be accepted.

We don't actually accept the profile field address unless there's some sort of proof that it's remained unchanged, for that very reason.

I'm working on a new address-staking system which will automatically handle signatures, etc. Might have it ready by the end of the month if nothing else comes up to consume my time.
1178  Other / Meta / Re: Is bitcointalk being flooded with bots? on: August 10, 2018, 03:52:09 PM
A a captcha for your first post or two.
I would like a captcha to have until someone become a member. Most of these spammers are newbies and Jr. Members.

I am not saying it's gonna stop the spamming 100% but this will at-least restrict the spammers. We could see some more merit abuse to achieve member rank though  Tongue
1179  Other / Meta / Re: Is bitcointalk being flooded with bots? on: August 10, 2018, 03:41:30 PM
There are already some existing threads about it...

New type of off-topic Off Topic bots
Let's spam Bitcointalk - bumping services - auto-bots!
"PrіmeCоreICО Dashboard" Spam flooded the forum. Bots... again.
Let's stop the scammers and bots!

reCaptcha /or similar service/ for newbies and jr.membrs, to prevent bots.
THEYMOS see this. This forum is overruned by bots.

Let's hope you are wrong here.

By the way, can we update the OP with a sign message and stuffs so that an admin can recover your account by any chance if they notice this post? This will make their job easier also your chances will be increased to get noticed.  Smiley
