I really don't understand why overcomplicating things using Discord when we already have the forum. Many people didn't even submit their pizzas on Discord because they don't have it/don't use it. I never use it. I also do not understand this. Why use another site / app for a contest organized by our forum? It makes no sense for me. And it also felt like a mill stone for me, knowing that I have to create an account somewhere else in order to participate. In fact, this also stopped me from participating to these contests. At some point, I did not have a Discord account and I did not want to create one only for participating to this contest. After a while I made such account but I only participated once. However, I never used that account for anything else. As a consequence, I also deleted my Discord account.
Besides, as far as I see, holding the contest there led to (way too) many complaints. For example, I consider acroman08's idea a very suitable one. For those not aware, RickDeckard organized the pie baking contest using rules from BitcoinTalk Community Awards 2022. In fact he also opened a thread where rules were discussed before applying them and, after receiving enough feedback from the community, he decided to use rules from BCA 2022, which were slightly adjusted. And, as some of you may remember, the rules used last year at BCA 2022 led to less drama. Similar reactions were encountered during the pie baking contest, therefore I tend to believe that those rules were good. Perhaps using similar rules also for pizza baking contest would dramatically reduce the number of complaints and accusations. |

I come back with some news about Julian Assange -- and the news are not good at all... According to CNN, he lost the appeal he filed last year against his extradition. Court decision came last week, on June 6th. At same time, In a separate ruling, the High Court judge also denied Assange permission to appeal and challenge the dismissal of other parts of his case during a ruling by district judge Vanessa Baraitser in January 2021. After revising eight proposed grounds of appeal the judge argued he did not consider the proposed appeals raised “any properly arguable case.” However, it seems that British laws allow him to appeal again that decision, although I am not sure how it is possible to make appeal after appeal... In Romania you can start a trial; after it ends you may file an appeal; and, after the appeal from the second circuit you may only make an appeal which challenges the equity of the trial (but not the facts). And this last appeal may (or may be not) accepted by Supreme Court of Justice. Fortunately for Assange, British laws work differently and he is allowed to file another appeal, which he will do during current week, as the appeal may be made only in the next 5 working days after the Court decision (I also don't understand why this appeal may be filed only within such a short amount of time). At same time, according to Guardian, this is also his last possible legal appeal within UK. There are no further appeal avenues at the domestic level. Assange could still fight the extradition at the European court of human rights, which last December confirmed that an application from Assange had been received. Perhaps, if UK Courts make no justice for him, at least European court of human rights will make justice in his case... |

Since that post I noticed that some days I receive the daily interest and some days I still don't. Only once, when I did not receive it for one day, in the second day I received a double interest -- like covering for both days. But that happened only once. Right now I did not get my daily interest for 3 days in a row. |
