1201  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: June 07, 2012, 02:15:58 PM
latest investors (who have sent at least 10 btc) should be able to log in to bitcoinmax now.

...although some are missing the withdrawal address, but i'm going through and populating those at the moment.

oh, all these new accounts have been created with reinvest=YES, so if you want to change it, please do so in the login area.

BTC-engineer, your username for bitcoinmax has no dash in it.
1202  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: June 07, 2012, 07:36:47 AM
if anyone else notices deposits missing, please let me know.
thanks.

my additional funds have not shown up yet Smiley

okay then, i decided just for now to completely remove the code which tries to limit calls to blockchain.info, and your deposit showed up.

it'll now take slightly longer (~1 second) for everyone to log in, but it will force the check every time now.

i'll take a further look at the issue later, if i think it's calling blockchain.info too much.

1204  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing BitcoinAdvertisers.com THE MONEY MAKING MONSTER! on: June 07, 2012, 01:07:50 AM
I just don't understand why so many people keep BitcoinAdvertisers banners on their pages, knowing that balance can be wiped out at any moment!

sounds like paypal Cheesy

1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Encrypted wallet.dat, lost password, any solutions? on: June 05, 2012, 11:03:04 PM
Since you mistyped it twice it's unlikely that you made the same mistake.

that's what i would have normally thought, but as i mentioned, a bad keyboard can easily have that effect.
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Encrypted wallet.dat, lost password, any solutions? on: June 05, 2012, 02:31:00 AM
Just out of curiosity is there any theoretical way to put another password on a file before handing it off to someone yet still have them able to know if they've found the original?

"Commutative encryption" does exist, but wallet encryption uses AES which is not.  And even if it did, I'm not sure there would be a way for the cracker to know when he's found the correct passphrase.

This may be a way to improve the encrypted wallet format.   Passphrase to key function ->  key.  Then have the client encrypt separately a "test string" and the wallet.

This would allow brute force recovery in a secure manner.  The person could just give only the encrypted test string (which given the right key should decrypt to a known value (something like "Bitcoin Wallet format v1.2") to recovery team.

It wouldn't simplify the attacker's job but it would allow forgotten/incorrect passwords to be recovered in a manner that doesn't require the owner to trust a third party.

that would be awesome... you could then distribute it to potentially thousands, millions of 'lost pass' solvers who are paid bounties for the keys they find.

1208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Encrypted wallet.dat, lost password, any solutions? on: June 05, 2012, 02:18:48 AM
the password is quite memorable, which is why im surprised i misrecorded it- it is very long but a unique phrase and i must have misentered it twice while confirming it as my password.

have you tried hunter2?

seriously though, this might help: sometimes the above happens to me when i use a keyboard with a bad right-hand shift key, causing all the $ in my passphrases to come out as 4's every time i type it.
1209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PAYB.TC domain-registration issues on: June 05, 2012, 12:50:21 AM
first of all, many apologies to anyone inconvenienced by the current outage of http://payb.tc

about a week ago i decided to move the domain from godaddy to another registrar and while doing so found out that .tc domains have be renewed long before (like 6 months before) their expiry date.

as a consequence i've taken the easier road and sent godaddy more money to try to get it up again as fast as possible, but i've just called them again today and they say it will be at least another 3 days because of the country code involved.

i held off on announcing these issues because i wasn't sure if the domain was at risk of being sniped by someone else.

anyway, back soon.
1210  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust on: June 04, 2012, 06:15:51 PM
is it still posiible to get an invite from somewhere?

possible, but possibly unlikely.
1211  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Satoshi dice is broken? on: June 02, 2012, 11:14:14 AM
Okay, I had won quite a lot last night and was at 50BTC (most was unconfirmed), now this morning I have 17BTC and all my previous TX's to satoshidice don't even exist, what the hell happened? Did someone doublespend them so I got non-existant BTC? I've heard of a few other people so far having this same issue with "stuck" transactions from them...
Pretty annoyed at losing 33BTC of my winnings T_T

malfunctiongale script?

The 'wallet details' tab says:

Public Key (compressed, 65 characters [0-9A-F]):

but that's 66 characters, not 65.

maybe they ignore the leading zero on the left.
1214  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust on: May 30, 2012, 05:01:17 AM

Oh, I can't provide a spreadsheet with people's assets, if that's what you're asking for. (Unless everyone starts releasing their investments publicly, no one could)

Dig harder - quite a lot is public.

heh, even if everyone on this entire forum announced publicly that they were investors in pirate's fund, that still may only represent 10% of the total lenders.

good luck Cheesy
1215  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Bitcoin Savings and Trust on: May 30, 2012, 04:47:28 AM
Most of the people seriously invested in Pirate have diversified assets

what makes you say that?

i have no idea how even pirate himself would be able to verify that as fact.
1216  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: May 29, 2012, 04:37:55 AM
an OpenID string

i'm not familiar with OpenID... what does an "OpenID string" look like? is it just random characters, like a hash?
1217  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: May 29, 2012, 03:39:24 AM
I suspect he has gone again.  I have not heard anything via my lawyers despite his asking for contact details (and my providing them), and I don't think he is interested in providing any answers to some quite reasonable questions, let alone meeting any of his obligations.

That leaves me in an awkward position.

I have the remaining Bitcoin assets of the exchange, but neither the authority nor the necessary information to distribute them to their rightful owners.

i wouldn't rush it. you don't want to be in a situation where you've distributed funds and then find out 3 months later that it was done incorrectly.

My account

Your ballance is -0.00050000 BTC. Withdraw

not saying this is a bug, just showing it in case it's unintentional.

so you paid the tx fee for me, and then charged it to my account, letting it go into debit.
1219  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Announce] Bitquestion - bitcoin powered questions and answers on: May 29, 2012, 02:16:15 AM
in the FAQ it is says 3 confirmations LOL

ah, 2 too many Smiley
1220  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Announce] Bitquestion - bitcoin powered questions and answers on: May 29, 2012, 02:06:05 AM
on the account page, it might be nice to show any unconfirmed deposits, if you can see them on the network.

Your ballance is 0 BTC.

also, there's no ball in balance Smiley

edit: actually, even after 1 confirmation, my balance isn't showing up... how many confirmations are you waiting for?
