1221  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ripple competition on: November 25, 2013, 06:41:56 AM
If anyone wants to implement my original 2-phase-commit/non-blockchain Ripple protocol design, it's here:

http://archive.ripple-project.org/Protocol/Protocol

It's only based on IOUs and routing through a mutual credit network -- no trustless cryptocurrency involved.  And you'd need to give it a different name, of course Smiley

I've not had the mental bandwidth to follow the Ripple-against-the-world discussions as of late. However, I find it somewhat puzzling that the above comment went utterly unresponded to.

Perhaps I am just being trolled.

Yes, it is somewhat puzzling. I wish I had something to say, but I'd have to read the original design. Maybe call it FuggerCoin? or MutualTrustTokens?  Tongue

I just can't get excited by a design/spec without an implementation. I'll stick with XRP for now, which is pushing 80 XRP/USD at the moment, led by dumping of CNY (gateway cap surged from CNY 1 million to CNY 1.4 million overnight).

66xrp/USD now in western gateways  Smiley in China it´s closer to 50xrp/USD.

EDIT: I know, I am coming late to the party in the year of 2017, but finally we can all agree the XRP is not the future of cryptocurrency for value holders. Paradoxically, because it is way too stable, making it not so attractive for speculators. Also, it is not really anonymous. Sad story, bro.
1222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will crash to 40 USD next 24 hours... here is why... on: November 23, 2013, 02:19:53 PM
Haha it will never lose 95.4% of its value in 24 hours, sorry I lolled.

It might drop, but never that much. If it does? I'll bet 30% of my investing money on it immediately and go for some nice risk/reward.

I know that this is post is probably created for some nice discussion material but if you're being sirious: "haha" is the only thing I can say Tongue.

Yea I make jokes here but...
I saw a powerdive a few months ago so that I do not think it is unrealistic.. I cant remember but I think it went down from 300 usd to 40 or so a few months ago?

Bitcoin lost 80% of its value in april. But it took eight days of free fall, not one hour  Wink

V tom výčtu chybí Ripple (i když to je spíš celý platební systém než altcoin, úplně odpadá těžba) a z brzy dokončených Emunie. U LTC bych doplnil, že tak jak je nastaven má inflaci vůči Bitcoinu pětkrát vyšší, tedy jediný důvod, proč do něj investovat je vyšší volatilita, hodnotě bitcoinu se nepřiblíží.
1224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are there any real hardcore bears? on: November 22, 2013, 05:16:53 PM
I am really curious about that. Not the "i've sold and hope it goes down so i can buy back in"-type of bear. But a legit longterm bear who thinks this shit will collapse hard to 0-1$ range and just dies eventually ?

Because so far i just see "bears" that just want more cheap coins. Am i wrong?

Why would people who see bitcoin as complete trainwreck post here of all places?
1225  Economy / Speculation / Re: sold at $600. what to do? on: November 22, 2013, 04:46:45 PM
I am going to quote another user on this board. "Buying now is like fucking hooker without condom."  Wink Tomorrow Bitcoin can be worth 1500 or 250, you´d be gambling.

Seasoned users like Chodpaba or Rpiteila already stated, that growth of bitcoin recently passed exponential curve, hell right now, market swallows 2,5 million dollars daily just to keep itself from deflating. I´d wait for the crash.
1226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2013, 04:36:34 PM
There's honestly no reason to be bearish on Bitcoin, for any reason, except the centralization of Bitcoin.  (Which seems they are proposing)  The only thing required to overcome the 1mb limit and maintain it, is to increase off blockchain transactions.  This is what Ripple is for and will allow Bitcoin transactions with virtually no limit.

Though Ripple is centralized - does this not beat the purpose of Bitcoin entirely? In essence we'll have created a commodity like gold, but NOT a currency.

How much decentralized is bitcoin today, when its meat (yes, I am talking about miners) is controlled by few ASIC manufacturing corporations and its bones (users) put their trust into unreliable (and centralized) exchanges. I´d switch to ripple client as bitcoin trading tool entirely, if not for still relatively low (but rising) liquidity. Atleast I can use it without Open Labs wanting my ID card and 1% transaction fees.
1227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ripple competition on: November 22, 2013, 03:27:51 PM
Nxt will be launched soon. With its decentralized exchange it allows to create gateways like Ripple.

Why do you keep spamming thread of completely unrelated product? I´d wish for you to find less annoying ways of propagating your work.
1228  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins vs Cash on: November 22, 2013, 02:57:17 PM
It is still in hoarding phase (and maybe stay there).

What do you mean by saying that it will stay there. That the price will continue to increase exponentially? Or that it will fail?
Obviously things will slow down at some time.

What makes economy tick is an exchange system, that is slightly inflationary (perfectly logical as both number of consumers and number of goods keeps rising). Deflationary one actually stops bussiness in its tracks as no one in their right mind wants to spend such "currency", again, if I have to choose between television today and mercedes c-klasse next week, guess what I will choose?

You are right about slowing of growth in the future, however how slow is slow enough? Price of gold is extremely stable next to bitcoin, yet it isnt used as currency anywhere but perhaps Somalia. I am not saying bitcoin wont attain perhaps 100k USD per coin, I just dont see it as a viable payment system.
1229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's stupid that newbies must make 5 posts and browse for 4 hours. Here's why on: November 22, 2013, 02:45:25 PM
The restrictions on this forum are sub-par. The part where you have to browse for four hours is kind of reasonable and understandable.

However, having to post 5 times is ridiculous. The reason being is that it encourages spam posts. If you go to the newbies section most of is spam. The reason being is people just spam posts in order to post in the other forums.

This is a terrible idea. Now I have to sit here for four hours before released my project, and I have to make tons of these stupid pointless posts.

Thanks bitcointalk.

I have to agree. I made account today just to clarify something in altcoin thread and having to sit through all the crap going on here is killing me on inside.

By the way dont worry about trolls calling you noob. It´s rather cute when basement dwellers turn into snobs, cause "they are totally veteran here".
1230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Noobs Discoveries (ALT Coin) on: November 22, 2013, 12:51:32 PM
I noticed the outcries of some (latecoming) miners, but haven´t realized it is this bad. It resembles alaskan goldrush, where the most proftable weren´t miners and adventurers but merchants who sold guns and shovels  Angry or in this case - ASIC manufacturing corporations and exchange owners.
1231  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins vs Cash on: November 22, 2013, 12:40:29 PM
I dont think Bitcoin and fiat can be really compared. Sure, there are bazillion fanboys who tell you how great is Btc for spending, but who would do that? Only crazy person would use btc for spending when its value rises exponentially. Why spend your bitcoin for buying tv, when in a month you can have two or three televisions for that same coin? Even using physical gold makes more sense. It is still in hoarding phase (and maybe stay there).

We all know disadvantages of fiat, but its networking (universal acceptance) and the way it supports consumer way of life ensure, that it remains predominant form of payment for years to come.
1232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will BTC be worth $100,000 per BTC??? on: November 22, 2013, 12:03:06 PM
04:04 PM on 12 March 2036.

You must be the most bullish polar bear I ever saw  Grin

Or the most drunk ever. I love you. Will you take care for my children for me, please? I can promise you cozy life in country side. In mansion, servants, doggie. All that stuff and more. Just say yes this one time. I will take care of everything else for us.
1233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will BTC be worth $100,000 per BTC??? on: November 22, 2013, 10:24:18 AM
I guess, never.
Bitcoin has price because someone is willing to pay for it. Right now, because its price is going up, and Bitcoin is in short supply, people are willing to pay much money for it. And the ever-increasing demand for Bitcoin will keep driving the price up until people don't want to buy or hold it anymore. Would some one like to buy BTC for $100,000? Just to get $100,100 lately?

At that point, by the way, unless Bitcoin has become widely accepted as a legal means of exchange (as "money"), the price of BTC will collapse someday.

or, you know, other cryptocurrencies will pop up.. not to take over BTC though.

This. There already are cryptos that are far more convient for day to day trade. You also don´t use gold for buying food and paying bills, right? That said Btc could very well reach 100k by 2017, if current rate of growth holds. It would only take fraction of worlds wealth.
