1261  Other / Meta / Re: Shouldn't bounty managers clean up spam posts in their thread ? on: September 26, 2018, 06:13:55 PM
Also, I totally agree that bounty managers ought to be more diligent about keeping their threads clean, but unless they suffer some consequences for not doing so, they have no motivation to do it.  The managers should do a lot of things they don't currently do, like weed out shitposters and alt accounts, but most of them could care less.  It's sad.

I try to see their side from the story too. Even if campaigns cause spam, the spamming itself is not done by the campaign managers, if you know what I mean. But I'm not trying to defend them either. The story is just not one-sided and indeed, they really could do A LOT more.

Nonetheless, if they would at least start reporting spam in their own bounty thread, or if they would actively clean up spam themselves, it could actually help them to gain some respect from the other members in the community and relieve the mods a bit.

Really man, just try to clean up one of the links that I posted in the OP. Reporting spam posts one by one. I can tell you, after 50 reports I started asking myself some serious existential questions... Poor mods...
1262  Other / Meta / Shouldn't bounty managers clean up spam posts in their thread ? on: September 26, 2018, 05:52:38 PM
Disclaimer: I do not claim that bounty managers are spammers! Wink

So I've been spending the past few days cleaning up some bounty threads by reporting several messages as spam. ALL of them were accepted with a 100% accuracy rating. I am talking especially about these two types of posts:

1. "you are great sir you project i see great future go to moon you have my support".

These come mostly - but not always - from Newbies without Merit, or from the infamous 1 Merit Junior Members. No doubt some of these come from fake accounts, especially if their activity is 1. Cool

2. Bounty campaign updates for campaigns that finished weeks and even MONTHS ago!

You've seen these things before, surely:

Quote
WEEK # 17 (21/09 - 27/09)
TWITTER
Twitter Link: XXXX
Likes and Retweets:
1. XXXX
2. XXXX
3. XXXX

FACEBOOK
Facebook Link: XXXX
Liked and Shared Posts:
1. XXXX
2. XXXX
3. and so on...

They are part of the bounty game, so I suppose we just have to live with them. But continuing to post these horrible things, while quoting themselves from the weeks before that, not only weeks but sometimes even MONTHS after the campaign has ended, can only mean two things: either you don't care enough about this forum and the campaign to just read the OP from time time. Or you're a robot.

Some examples are this (ended August 15th). Or this (ended July 31st). And this (ended 4 months ago, it's even marked in the thread's subject but people still post updates). Sigh...

Suddenly it occurred to me: what the heck am I doing? Cleaning up someone else's mess? My respect for the mods on this forum who have to try and keep these threads spam-free has only grown bigger... Sometimes they really must have the feeling the situation is hopeless...

I have nothing against bounty management or against bounties - heck, I am participating myself, so I would be a huge hypocrite if I would have a problem with them. Some managers really make the effort of adding "ENDED" to the subject thread, but that doesn't help against robots. I just think the amount of spam in the bounty threads could be seriously reduced - and the forum mods could be relieved from a serious part of the spam cleaning - if this responsibility would be delegated to the bounty managers. Same goes for translators of bounty threads.

My gentle suggestions:
1. Keep your threads self-moderated.
2. Clean up nonsense posts.
3. Clean up bounty updates once the campaign is over.
4. Close the thread as soon as all bounties have been distributed.

If the bounty managers were to take this responsibility, it could also create an indirect but nonetheless very important extra advantage: it could largely improve the quality of the bounty campaigns, and at the same time reduce the number of fake threads. Cause if you are responsible for keeping your thread clean from spammers and robots, you might think twice before opening yet another fake or spam airdrop or bounty thread.

If you've read some of my other posts, you'll already know that I don't like to impose rules. But bounty managers could for instance keep their thread self-moderated on a voluntary basis for anti-spam reasons. At the same time, it could also give their campaign and their management skill an extra credibility boost.

In a nutshell, bounty managers, forum mods, forum members and even crypto-project leaders and teams: everyone could profit from this!
1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VOISE - Revolution of the music industry on: September 23, 2018, 10:46:16 AM
They are around and are carrying on slowly but steadily. I have eyes on their twitter handle and time to time something they share. At start of this year Voise was among top projects in music industry category. I hope they can deliver something before the next bull run to bring it into light. High prices make the process of popularity lot more easier.

We all hope so. A year ago, I thought this decentralized music project could be "da bomb", but right now I am far from sure. But that goes for many ICOs, of course...

Looks like there is FINALLY some (real) news on Twitter: https://twitter.com/voisecom/status/1042398160390430720.

Some development in their app project.

Snip
so its seems to me that if "newbies" want to get paid, they have to pay to play. still not making any post better but is ok if they pay.

It doesn't seem to you like that, it IS like that. You pay a fee, you can participate in campaigns.

It still doesn't give you the right to shitpost though.
1265  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: September 21, 2018, 07:47:25 AM
If the post that received Merit was actually spam, and gets deleted, you still get to keep your Merit.

Like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=2344030
1266  Other / Meta / Re: And thats how I got my FIRST ever Merit... on: September 19, 2018, 10:45:20 AM
For me, I would say am grateful for having a Merit, merit happens when you make a sense in posts however most newbies still complain they don't get the merit their post deserve.
To that I would say stick to doing a nice job... Hopefully you get what you deserve.

Your Merited post was:

"I agree with you, your strategy sounds good and I am going to give it a try."

Sometimes you have to know when to keep your mouth shut.

edit : now that we have gotten rid of Newbie spammers, the new enemy will be the 1 Merit Jr. spammer...
1267  Other / Meta / Re: And thats how I got my FIRST ever Merit... on: September 19, 2018, 09:25:48 AM
Funny how these posts always seem to contain the words "I am not a bounty hunter, but...".

Misschien handig om ook te delen over welke bank je het in deze post hebt?
Ik ben hier niet om te shillen ik zou zeggen DYOR, belangrijkste wat er is .

1269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 3 altcoins to invest in NOW on: September 16, 2018, 09:53:18 AM
You know what I am going to say, right? Syscoin yesterday, today and tomorrow. Strong team, development, support etc. It has been undervalued from the beginning and it still is.
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum on the path to recovery? on: September 16, 2018, 09:51:53 AM
Nope. It's just following BTC. Like all other altcoins do. It has been that way since forever, so I really have no idea why you are opening just another thread about ETH price speculation...
1271  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Kom jij Bitcoin België versterken? on: September 11, 2018, 09:38:16 PM
"Naar verluidt" is met dt. Zelfs het woordenboek van mijn smartphone weet dat.

Het is als opbouwende kritiek bedoeld hoor, maar aan dat soort amateurisme gaan goedbedoelde projecten als bitcoinbelgie tenonder. Een ernstige lezer geeft er na zoiets meteen de brui aan en komt nooit meer terug.

Ik ben er nochtans van overtuigd dat er een publiek is voor dit onderwerp (ook in het Nederlands).
1272  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which posts should be awarded with merits ? on: September 11, 2018, 08:52:37 PM
This Merit thing has become some kind of a new religion.

Yep - and it is starting to get to me. People seem to have become like politicians - they want rewards without doing any work, and just talking about it. In fact the beginners' board is now just merit talk, bounties, TwitBook chat and similar stuff. I've just put the whole board on ignore, as I am so saddened by it. I'll review it in a week or so.

Although not on topic, I could not leave your remark about politicians unmerited.  Cool

Further on, the spamming, not only from bots but also from bounty obsessed members has become a real disease, just like a virus. I try to report as much spam and nonsense as possible but honestly: it's a lost case. There's an expression in Dutch which remains me of this forum, literally translated: mopping the floor while the water tap is open. Meaning your efforts are useless.

The most frustrating moments are when you're seriously trying to ask some questions or start a genuine discussion and those suckers just continue to reply to the OP without reading into anything. Actually, once you're on the second page of a thread, your efforts are in vain.
1273  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which posts should be awarded with merits ? on: September 11, 2018, 07:00:38 AM
This Merit thing has become some kind of a new religion. Is Meritology.com still available?

edit: it is not.
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum price speculation / reasons for current crash? on: September 09, 2018, 09:47:58 AM
Ps: make sure you’re wearing your seatbelts guys because it’s about to get bumpy out there

I think most of us have their seatbelts on since January.  Cool

Further on, there's certainly some kind of tiredness in the crypto market, coming from people who believed these coins would double their value on a daily basis. I don't think ETH is an exception compared to any other coins, on the contrary, I still consider its technology as its strength.
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The bottom is near... on: September 09, 2018, 09:38:20 AM
Well I don't see those levels as the real bottom because there maybe further decline as many will sell cheap for just out of panic which will contribute to further decline in the market value of Bitcoin and other altcoins within this period.

I am seriously looking for a solid explanation for the uncertainties of the last three-four months. In the beginning (January, February 2018) it was clearly provoked by government interventions (China, Korea, USA) but now it seems people are not surprised about those anymore. Look at how prices went up two weeks ago, even though the SEC had released a negative report.

Do you think the current decline is still provoked by panic sellers? Or rather, bored-out sellers who are tired of these on-going fluctuations, let's say indeed "weak hands".

Even so, there is no guarantee at all that prices will go up again, even when the (estimated) bottom has been reached. I suppose even weak hands are not so stupid to sell at 6000 and jump back in at 7000? And even of they were so stupid, I would be very careful to put trust in a value built on weak hands' stupidity.  Roll Eyes
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The bottom is near... on: September 08, 2018, 10:56:19 PM
I'd say the bottom price is the lowest price possible for mining 1 coin.
1277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My 100x-1000x bet in a year on: September 08, 2018, 03:19:55 PM
I think this coin has quite some potential, taking in account its standard privacy features, building further on solid XMR standards. It's a bit of a shame that you're shilling it by talking about unrealistic and ridiculous returns. This project deserves better ambassadors.
1278  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does any of you spend bitcoin in physical shops? on: September 07, 2018, 07:27:17 PM
It's the big question, I guess. Once people start accepting crypto in real life, how will it influence its value? And will it still be the usual suspects, BTC, LTC etc. which will be used?
1279  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Merit in Nederlandstalige community on: September 03, 2018, 09:05:02 PM

1280  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: SEC rejects bitcoin ETFs on: September 03, 2018, 10:40:05 AM
