those guys' profiles look like they've never spammed in their life. Roll Eyes
BPIP has a wall of shame.

I had no idea. This is damned brilliant mate Grin I think I've noticed some names I've been reporting in the last months, which is quite funny. Tongue
942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BXUNTY] ConcertVR Official BOUNTY CAMPAIGN!! |www.concertvr.io| on: November 11, 2019, 12:55:09 PM
Looks like the CVT project won a community award on a startup event in Germany.

https://nextrealitycontest.de/gewinner-2019/

Since I am not from Germany, could any of the German members of the boards give us more information about this event/award? Is it important/meaningful and could it have a positive influence on the evolution of this project?
943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for investors Borocoin (BORO) CEO on: November 11, 2019, 12:52:42 PM
Till now everything works perfectly in Borocoin project Smiley

Well your horrible logo seems to have disappeared so could you please define "perfectly"? Roll Eyes It does look better now, I'll give you that. Cool

Be warned about this possible SCAM project, people. Do not invest without DYOR!
944  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Maandelijkse updates voor btc on: November 11, 2019, 12:17:42 PM

Cool
945  Other / Meta / Re: Users that wiped all their posts. Or anohter project for LoyceV on: November 11, 2019, 11:12:34 AM
I guess it's better when they delete the posts themselves. It means that we don't have to waste our time and energy reporting them, and the result is the same.

I mentioned before that the sad thing about reporting and "cleaning up" someone's spammy mess, is the fact that after everything has been reported and deleted, those guys' profiles look like they've never spammed in their life. Roll Eyes
946  Other / Meta / Re: Respond to thread without bumping. on: November 11, 2019, 10:50:10 AM
I think this would make the whole idea of discussion boards a bit useless. What's the use of writing new posts if they're not visibly marked? No-one would even notice they'd been posted. I see no harm in bumping or even necrobumping as long as people are not spamming or abusing. I prefer necrobumping to people opening several threads for the same subject or project. When I'm searching for information on a certain subject or coin, and notice there are over 10 threads for the same subject, I even don't bother reading any of them anymore.
947  Other / Meta / Re: Post Deleted by Mods / by ourselves / By Self-moderated OP on: November 08, 2019, 07:18:57 AM
I already told you that you were spamming, but instead of listening to the advice of an older member, you had to call me a sig spammer, and then closed the thread in a hurry, to make sure I couldn't reply. In French we call this kind of behaviour "petit". And now your posts got deleted. Allow me to find this quite ironic.

And btw, I considered reporting some of your posts, but I didn't. So I guess I'm not the only one who thinks you're spamming.

Cheers from your favourite sig spammer.

I repeat i did not spam in that thread, it was you who spam at that time and also again you are doing the same here.
Also i closed that thread when i got the answer to my query and i will close this thread also when i get my understanding clear and will not keep it open for signature spammers like you.

I think you are confusing spam with messages of which you dislike the content. There is a difference between the two, you know.

Feel free to report my posts and we'll see if you're right or confused. Cool

949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite project these days? on: November 07, 2019, 07:28:51 PM
What's my favorite project?

(...)

Bitcoin.

No crazy crypto buzzwords, highest adoption, secure, decentralized, no additional unnecessary bullcrap that you get with other projects. It just works. 🤷

EDIT: This thread became a shill-your-bags thread real quick.

Well, things do have changed a bit though. Back when I was a Newbie, these kinds of threads were used to shill all kinds of obscure eBTC eLTC eXRM SEX XYZ LAMBO SHIT and thousands of other exotic coins, which were - if you were lucky - P&D coins or - if you were unlucky - nothing at all.

At least in the last months and year, I see a lot of people (even Newbies) who prefer BTC, ETH, XLM again, as well as other (trustworthy) projects who have been with us for such a long time. I'd even dare to say that this is one of the most interesting developments of 2019.

And since I don't want to add up to the shilling: there can be only one Number One and that is - of course - Bitcoin.
950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ICOs, what we can do? on: November 07, 2019, 07:18:21 PM
That's one of the responsibilities that come in a free market: be very careful and know what you buy.

No idea if anyone cares about anything on these boards, since it's the Altcoin section after all, but I've written a modest guide quite a long time ago, of which I think it's still up-to-date. Feel free to hit the link, join the discussion and add your own point of view to the checklist.

Even though I think the guide is still up-to-date, I must say it seems like the heyday of scams lays behind us. Hopefully my feeling's right.
951  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Discussion section needs some adjustment on: November 07, 2019, 05:54:48 PM
I've always felt the altcoin section should be treated rather like the end of Silent Running - left alone to drift off into space to tend to itself in a poignant manner. A bit less Joan Baez though.

Allow me to come back to this thread. First of all, Joan Baez is specialized in singing other people's music, which makes me think a bit about the copypasters in the Altcoin Section. Not sure if that's a compliment. Cool

Second of all, the sad thing is that sometimes, there really are quite a lot of interesting topics (and yes, there are still some interesting blockchain projects) in the Altcoin Section.

But every time you try to add something to the discussion or some point of view or ask a question, after a few hours already, your post has been completely snowed under by "yes i agree" and "great project sir" posts from activity pumpers. Most of them only read the OP. I can tell ya, that's horribly frustrating.

It really can't be the intention of this forum that the Serious Discussion and the Ivory Tower are the only places left, were you can discuss (in a serious way) blockchain topics and projects. I can't imagine opening a thread about a project I believe in, in the Serious Discussion boards. Even if I did it to avoid all the spam, I'm quite sure I'd be nuked to dead.

So yes. We need some adjustment and need to get rid asap of those spammers.
952  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Electrum in tails versie 4.0 on: November 07, 2019, 05:40:19 PM

Cool
953  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Replacing Windows with Linux on: November 05, 2019, 04:58:17 PM
The project is going well, and it has expanded a bit, so I'll post a full update when I've decided on the final setup.

(...)

6 months later... How is it going, Jet Cash, still having fun? I'm a bit disappointed I didn't discover this thread earlier. To be honest, I really thought the Ivory Tower was exclusively for crypto-related discussions. Smiley

I've switched to Linux since Ubuntu 7.04. I'm quite shocked to read on Wikipedia that this version was launched over 12 years ago, damn man, time flies... Embarrassed

That being said, I never got used to Unity. No idea how it looks nowadays but back then, these giant buttons on the side felt kinda... well slow, maybe? Undynamic? Dunno how to describe it but it didn't feel nice. I switched to Kubuntu... Later Linux Mint... And right now, I've got 2 different distros running.

I'm on MX on a 10 year old 4GB RAM laptop (which will be replaced by a brand new one, well... around Black Friday probably Wink ). Mind you, I did replace one of the HDDs with an SSD. I also want to add that I am changing the laptop because this is the second time the battery's dying on me (meaning I had already bought a replacement to avoid buying a new laptop), there are some dead pixels, and one of the keyboard's buttons came loose. This thing works as smoothly as could be, but I am starting to lose friends who are embarassed to be seen in the proximity of my laptop. Grin

I would love to hear your experience with other distros. I must admit I have no idea what reputation MX has when it comes to privacy and spyware. Truth is, I simply changed to the most popular distro on distrowatch (as long as it didn't have Unity).

The only things that disturb me (a bit) are the problems with (some) devices and peripherals. For instance, ID card readers are recognized, but not working.

My Brother laserjet works only if I ask it very nicely. Roll Eyes Meaning it does the job but has a hard time with options, like "Print Selection" or "Grayscale" etc. I use my wife's PC if it doesn't work. Or I change the settings manually on the printer. Which is a pain in the a...

My Canon scanner doesn't work, even if I ask gently. So then it's back to the wife's again.

Secondly, as a musician I use some USB interface devices. I have a separate laptop for this (a supercheap 4GB Ram laptop), which I use exclusively for the music stuff. Also replaced the HDD by an SSD. This thing is 3 years old, cheap as hell, but works like heaven, even upto the most recent updates. [edit: This second laptop runs on Debian. It's the only "fairly common" distro that got my USB devices running.]

So, what's new, JC?

I'm probably making a giant understatement here, but a lot of these sig spammers seem to be following each other's posts and posting in the same threads. I see the same names appear constantly in the same threads. Makes me believe that many of them are one and the same person.

In the cases quoted above, it's even more obvious: coin_1122 and BTC_1856 have the user numbers 925742 resp. 925744, and crustycrab666 and dongosquad are 995891 resp. 995892.

I suppose the numbers are created in order of forum subscription?

I've seen this kind of practices before. The same people bumping each other's threads, sometimes to keep the ANN thread alive, but also because they want to pump their activity.

Although I'm no member of the Spambusters Club, I've been welcomed to report these user IDs on the SpamBusters Club's thread. Simply send the IDs to LoyceV who will convert them for you, like in my quotes above.

Just a friendly suggestion, Rikafip. (edit: and by the way, good job  Cheesy)
955  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Electrum in tails versie 4.0 on: November 05, 2019, 03:56:07 PM

Tails lijkt me dan meteen zinloos.

956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto, here's an idea for you (if you are still out there): on: November 04, 2019, 07:11:03 PM
Regulation and legalization are the only way for holistic adoption growth!

I will not claim that I have enough economic knowledge to have a solid idea about how to launch BTC globally. But I do know that BTC has been launched as a libertarian concept of decentralization, and so I am 100% sure that of all the possibilities that Satoshi had in mind, regulation and legalization were definitely the last.
957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: could it be most project don't succeed? on: November 04, 2019, 06:58:27 PM
hello everyone

I have came to think of something reasonable about some projects, today everyone just wakeup to create his project and introduced it to btt just for people to suffer and promote probably at last the project will not succeed and they will foldup why? everywhere and there having much projects trooping in the forum today but few succeeds.
today, tomorrow, next tomorrow came up with all such of tokens, or could it be they want to build their social media groups and pages then they will come create fuck token and disbursed to the people whose manage to follow them on their media page and at last such token has no value in the market. they will even stole some other project websites just to boost their pages. this is improper... We hear scam and thief everywhere due to not have a proper documentations about the ventures.
I think earlier 2010 to 2015 there were no scam project even if there's, is just 1% but now is +-50%

to me this are the interest of those fake project.
1. they want to boost their  facebook page
2. they want to boost their twitter page
3. LinkedIn page
4. YouTube, ETC

my Questions

Is there no other ways BTT can track and trace such people posting such project in the forum?
Is there no way we can run free and fair project in the system without us being scammed or tricked?

Let me rest my case here and I would like the elders of this forum to look into this
Please feel free to drop your comment

You know, I don't really agree with your point of view. There's the scams and nonsense projects which obviously have failed during recent times, because well... they were scams and nonsense.

So if we're talking about becoming ridiculously rich, I am quite sure that - indeed - that didn't succeed for most people and projects.

If you're talking about the blockchain as a concept of data decentralization, and not about sticking fictitious values onto tokens from useless projects and then pumping them and hoping to get out when you've gained 3 dollars - which is actually why 95% of the people on this forum are here, then you're wrong. We are not only talking about the projects which you read about on this forum, but about the daily life use of blockchain. As a matter of fact, I do have friends who create blockchains for private companies, to process data/documents/information/internal communication etc. "à la carte". I can tell you that these projects are very much alive.

Blockchain as the concept of pump and dump projects you're talking about, has become quite rare. Blockchain has become mature and it's about time some members of this forum do, too.

I would definitely like to see the reporter badges, but I'm really not sure about offering a financial reward for reporting. It seems like it would be too easy to abuse.

A reward (maybe financial but not necessarily) could be a temporary solution, for instance, only for a week or a month. Or only during a certain period of time, f.i. for a few days every 4 months or so. Just to avoid leaving people the time to consider a way of abusing the system. Wink

I can confirm that spam reporting is a time-consuming activity and not exactly satisfying since the quantity of spam doesn't seem to go down even a little bit (which explains my eternal respect for the Spambusters club who do this on a daily voluntarily basis). Some sort of reward from time to time could motivate people to report more and might actually (and hopefully) result into a really visible diminution of the spam on these boards.
