in his worldwide bestseller "Sapiens - A brief history of humankind" (which is a great book, that I can deeply recommend, even for historians)

(...)

bitcoin is on its way to deliver another big leap forward

(...)

Discovered and read it during the lockdown (thank you Wuhan), instant classic which you simply can't put down. You can borrow it for free on The Archive.

I liked "Sapiens" a lot too, next book "Homo Deus"- a tiny bit less, but very much liked the third book "21 lessons for the 21st Century".

Thx for the tip. I've been an avid reader ever since I was a child, and been very frustrated for years about not having the time or the energy to read more, because of the general rat race and a 12+ hours a day-job. My wife and I were quite upset about the fact that we needed an actual virus lockdown to finally find and get some time again to read books in quiet solitude (Milan Kundera, anyone? Dostoevsky? Oh and Harari, obviously).

That being said, I need no Lambo, no private Caribbean Island with a butler and a jet, but simply enough BTC "moon" to be able to read books whenever I feel like it... Let's call it my little definition of "freedom".

I guess a lot of people also arrived in 2017-2018 because BTC was seriously hyped and "new" or "unknown" to many people - call it FOMO if you want.

Even though current prices of BTC (and altcoins) are doing fine, interest seems to slow down (edit: or stabilize), and I think it's quite simply because the period of "hype" has made place for a period of "oh bitcoin, wasn't that a thing of the previous decade?". Grin I guess you're expecting too much of people's general attention span, JC. Undecided

They always unpromised, because of that people won't believe this project already.
You must read open scam accusation about bitwing smartphone Bitwings promises smartphone that can mine 2 ETH/month. Ponzi scheme?
As you can see, it is business as usual in Bitwings, nothing changed in all these months:
  • Those fake accounts are still shilling their ANN thread pretending to be interested, llke anyone will be fooled by that
  • Minephone still not delivered, despite allegedly being launched more than 2 weeks ago, on July 1st. I guess they will delay it as long as covid-19 asts, and then they will think of some other excuse

(...) Our  unboxing video of the Minephone will be out this week prior to its delivery. We will wait to see what you have to say then.  [/b]

Still no unboxing video? This must be the longest week in human existence. But just like you, we will wait to see what you have to say now. Wink

Thank you for the nice welcome. I have already seen that there is also a German group. This forum is perfect  Smiley
Good to see that you have already found your local board and that's the place from where you can enrich your knowledge vault. If i am not wrong then you have skill in English language too and it will open more opportunities for you to gather knowledge from different board of this forum.

You have already shared your thrust about earning bitcoin for pocket money. I will suggest to change your mind at an very early stage of your forum journey where you have to learn a lot of things first. Yeah you will find so many posts on social media's about bitcoin earning but sorry to that it's not that easy. Usually you will get ponzi/Hyip related social media post or advertisement where chances of losing your fund higher and you have to be aware about that. For now just gather knowledge about bitcoin from the links above which have already provided by previous posters. Its always better to learn before planning to earn (Not for bitcoin earning only).

Respect for your patience, but I'm quite sure we won't see this dude again. Just another spammer, trying to get some attention in order to have his referral links spread out and - luckily - quickly realizing it's no use.

The first message newbies should see is: this forum is not the country of El Dorado.

And if he's really German, did he honestly expect to survive in Germany with his $0.0047-ish weekly referral revenue?
688  Other / Meta / Re: Merit giveaway: is it a good idear? on: September 16, 2020, 11:54:43 AM
I don't think his way of giving Merits away was the best of ideas, but in the end, he deserved his sMerits in a fair way I suppose, so he can do whatever he feels like with them. Better than selling them or sending them to alt accounts.

We're already having a hard time enforcing the existing rules, so it would probably be a bad idea to add new ones...

Again, I'm not saying his idea was a splendid one, but let's get rid of spammers, scammers and shitposters first, and successfully enforce the existing rules first, before we start inventing even more rules.
689  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitwings promises smartphone that can mine 2 ETH/month. Ponzi scheme? on: September 15, 2020, 11:10:02 PM
I wonder why are they even trying, at this point, they've fleeced all the suckers they could get, they are beyond the point when anyone would still fall for it.
I think they will keep trying squeeze some money from Latin America market as they still have Spanish Telegram group going on, and they had strong marketing campaign in that region and they still mention that on their social media channels.

Who knows, maybe some suckers are still ordering  magic smartphone so they are milking that as much as possible. You know the saying, here's a sucker born every minute, and they count on it.

I dug this project up only a few hours ago, only to discover that my gut feeling back then was sadly true.

I participated for about 7 posts in their campaign last year. It looked quite genuine at that time, and was quite popular, if I remember well. But the signature was ridiculously ugly, the avatar was of very low quality, and the campaign spreadsheet was packed with spammers (some of which are still there, I see Smiley ).

So I got suspicious after only 2-3 days already. I sent the bounty manager (the "official" dude) a PM warning him about the spammers and the low quality of his sig and avatar, and let him know that I wasn't gonna play along any longer.

By the way, they haven't changed in all that time and are still there. I mean, seriously, just look at this monstrosity at their Bounty page - and the sigs are just as horrible:

If you look at it long enough, it starts to move around on your screen. Makes me think of the Shadows in Babylon 5. Quite creepy.

Anyway, the Bitwings "official dude" replied that I wasn't gonna leave the campaign, no you won't mister, but instead, that he was kicking me out!! Oh and he also told me that I shouldn't point names. Cheesy Probably my shortest participation ever, I didn't even get to finish one round. Come to think of it, it was really hilarious at that time. Still is actually.

That being said, I seriously do hope none of you guys lost any money in this scam. Participating in the wrong bounty is no shame if you don't know better and at least it doesn't cost you any money.

By the way, the guy claims his rubbish is being sold in "parts" of Europe already, but apparently, it's very difficult to describe which "parts".
690  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers constantly. on: September 15, 2020, 09:49:06 PM
Some nice guys paid-bumping the Bitwings ANN thread. I wanted to report them but I'm quite astonished to see that the mods have merged their posts, instead of deleting them. As if these posters are seriously interested in the project. Yeah right. Roll Eyes

So now I am wondering if it's actually worth reporting.

691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRIVATE-SALE][IEO] BITWINGS: OFFICIAL CRYPTOCURRENCY OF WINGS MOBILE on: September 15, 2020, 09:40:40 PM
For your info, the Minephone has already been launched in some parts of Europe and soon to be launched everywhere on September. We would love to see what you got to say then. Till then, cheers and stay safe!

Is there a point at which you will let us know in which "parts" of Europe it has been launched, or is it a secret? There are parts of Europe which have an actual name, you know. We call them "countries". Maybe you could name a few of these countries where your Minephone has already been launched. Or "parts" of these countries, of course, since you insist.

Here, let me help you out:

Also, is there a point at which you will let us know at what day in September it will be launched "everywhere", or is it a secret? Can't be very difficult to answer, because there's hardly any days left in September.

Here, let me help you out once more:

Or maybe your bumpers can answer the question, because they seem to know about as much about this project as you do?

Take your time to reply. In the meantime, I'll spend "parts" of my time reporting your bumpers a bit.
692  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Cryptopia Judge: "1. Crypto is property 2. Even w/o keys, crypto remains yours" on: September 15, 2020, 07:06:09 PM
Isn't all the Cryptopia money going to pay the liquidators anyway ? Who all seem to have crazy salaries/packages/compensations. I'm glad I could get most of my bitcoin out of there when they briefly reopened.

Don't be afraid to open the reports and read them: it's really not too difficult and very transparent. Every report contains a brief overview of what actions the liquidators have undertaken in the previous 6 months.

You can find a detail of the fees in Appendix A of the Second Report and in the Third Report under "Liquidator's Fees". Right now, they are at 1,8mio NZD.

Looking at how they are working together with international police forces, organizing webinars with coin devs, and knowing that they have to treat every account claim one by one, these amounts are probably "normal" (in my country, liquidators have an hourly wage that's fixed by law - that is, of course, if there's any money left in the company after the bankruptcy).

In the meantime, part of the stolen coins have been found and are frozen on other exchanges. Also, there were no individual wallets per member, which is slowing down the liquidation process a lot.

Interesting to see how 344BTC from Cryptopia itself have been found and converted to fiat and also appear in the appendix (mind you, it's NZD and not USD). Also, there was fiat money put on the side on an external bank account.
693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?) on: September 15, 2020, 06:09:32 PM
Why are there so many guides. I can't get to this at once. Anyway, I will just bookmark this thread to my browser and will check later.

Anyway I do not see any related thread regarding on how to spend bitcoin or to make transactions like the process of transferring bitcoin from wallet to exchange or exchange to wallet. Is there any? I like to know please. Thank You.

Don't worry mate, it's easy and there's a lot of information out there, as LoyceV said.

Also, don't let the huge pile of information scare you away. Even after more than 3 years on these boards, I'm learning new stuff every day. That's what makes it fun, and that's the reason why people who are really interested in crypto, become hooked to the forum.
694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello from a newbie on: September 15, 2020, 06:03:51 PM
I'm on board now. I come from Germany and want to learn more about bitcoin. A friendly "Hello!"   Smiley   to everyone here.

From your other posts, it looks like you don't actually want to learn more about bitcoin. It looks more as if you just came here to share your referral links with the community.

Hello together, I have been looking for a long time how I can earn especially small bitcoin amounts than pocket money by the way. But I haven't found anything. Because of this and because I deal with internet advertising in hobby I founded the new facebook group for bitcoins and referrals. Like to take a look ... I'll be happy to send you the link via pm.

Do you honestly believe you are not the trillionth person on this forum who has had this "brilliant" idea of making a bit of "pocket money" by promoting referrals and facebook groups?

Let's see how long it takes before your post gets deleted by the mods.
695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Search for merits on: September 15, 2020, 05:42:25 PM
Hello fellow users I have registered over 6 months but I seem unable to gather merits and I don't know how and which sub-forum to get them.
Assist is needed from other senior members on the platform is needed.

Let's turn this upside down.

Instead of asking for help and wondering how and where to get Merits, why don't you start by telling us right now why you think you deserve Merits.

I'm 100% sure you will receive Merits if you can post a decent reply to this proposition.
696  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk NFT tokens on: September 15, 2020, 05:33:58 PM
Why make it so complicated if you could simply make Merits tradable... [and moreover: why is my spell checker marking "tradable"?]

That being said, I'm not saying I find this a good idea. Look at how much abuse some of the bounty campaigns sometimes cause, so brace yourself if you're launching a bounty for 'useful' posting...
697  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Maandelijkse updates voor btc on: September 14, 2020, 04:58:48 PM

(Damn dream on...)
698  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: September 14, 2020, 04:07:42 PM
This is a copypaste from the official Securypto website Securypto.io. Not exactly a poster that will be missed, looking back at his post history... Shilling Securypto at the moment, shilling uPlexa before that etc.

I suppose he should have added the source, or is it clear enough from the context? He wears no sig.

What is Securypto
Securypto is an anonymous Masternode based blockchain project focused on anonymous storage & transfering of encrypted data. A market agitation technology by

This project one of the most interest project.

Yup, I also think it's a very interesting project, but that doesn't justify shilling or plagiarizing... Cool

However, I must admit that I find the number of reactions in your thread less enthusiastic than expected. (or did you remove that many replies OP?)

Thanks for your help and feedback. No, I deleted only 1, the topic is just beginning to emerge, so there are still few applications, but I have already helped two users to move to the next rank using this topic.

Low activity is probably due to the special conditions for filing an application. It is also worth noting that I just started this action in the English section, in the Russian locale I have already helped almost everyone who could.

Well, and also, of course, it should be borne in mind that many users do not read this section and may simply not be aware of the existence of my topic, also some users lack initiative and are just too lazy.

Great work. Same goes for me, but in the Dutch section (which is of modest size and sometimes very lively and sometimes - like at the moment - virtually dead). All in all it's a good thing that the Merit obsession we saw at the very beginning, has tempered a little bit. Some people were willing to sell a kidney in exchange for some Merit back then.

Anyway, that being said, I won't continue to reply because I surely don't want to steer your thread off-topic. My invitation above remains valid! Cheers Cheesy
700  Other / Archival / Re: [Merit] Help newbies and those who have a little left to the next rank on: September 13, 2020, 02:09:05 PM
If you've got 65 on the side, let me know.

I'm obviously kidding and wish to propose to help out as well. I've got some left and should you need more Merit to give our fellow members a little push forward, send me a message OP. Other members can do so as well, but I only merit posts that deserve to be merited, so you'll need to add a link to one of your posts as well.

However, I must admit that I find the number of reactions in your thread less enthusiastic than expected. (or did you remove that many replies OP?)
