Most of the BTC trade in Argentina is done on the "black market" and the BTC/peso exchange rate is showing a very large premium over other markets. I think this shows that a lot of people in Argentina are buying BTC. This is what I've heard in one or two interviews with bitcoiners in Argentina. |

P2p govs sound good! But the p2p currency is not perfect yet. A lot of issues are coming out and wait to fix up. Still not applicable to other areas.
P2P government would not work. There are way too many people who are misinformed and easily manipulated. Just look at all the scams that happen with bitcoin being money. Now just imagine what kind of scams would happen when laws would be at stake. Agree, direct democracy will be a shambles if it is ever implemented. Would be interesting to see what would happen if the public is presented with a budget that had to balance, it would expose democracy for the failure that it is- people would be pitting themselves against each other to keep/steal resources. I would be shocked to see it *truly* implemented in a large western nation, I expect the normies may be aloud to decide on really important things like forcing religious institutions to accept views untenable to them but things like tax and national debt will be off limits to the unwashed. |

Just thought I'd say this is a good campaign, always got payments through. My thanks to the bitmixer team, if it's still running in the future I will definitely consider signing up again, just right now for my post count the campaign doesn't make sense for me.

I think that we should have self regulated society, where most things is decided by the free market and maybe government with very little functions like public health, foreign policy, monetary policy, army etc.
Tried that a couple hundred years back... The Us has the largest government in the world now. So much for small government! ;-) Plus your parameters are not free market? Health? Foreign policy? |

How the military could be replaced by p2p?
Military are a construct of governments. What do we need defense against? You would likely pay a company within a certain jurisdiction, to guarantee, within reason your safety, a little classier than mercenaries and likely more efficient than a bloated standing army. I boggles my mind to think of the amazing ways the free market could replace the role of government. |

I think that they could be replaced, but there would be some issues without a governing authority, such as child slavery, black markets, slavery in general, etc. In some ways, P2P government wouldn't be bad. However, thing like law enforcement would turn into bounty jobs, so there would be a sudden increase in either bounty hunters or mercenaries.
For other government functions, however, it could be good or bad. No president = anarchy, so you see what the issue becomes pretty quickly...
Slavery is inefficient, at least in advanced economies. Slavery has many guises and is often typecast as cotton picking or pyramid building. We have problems with trafficking and child issues now. Just because a coercive entity does not exist does not mean people will not band together against it. |
