when using anything above intensity 9 on my 5970 w/ 11.12 drivers. The cpu usage is pegged... 9 and below cpu usage is 0%
Any reason why its higher on I 10+? thanks

just curious what mhash your getting with your 5970 using 11.12 ? I messed around with several different configurations over the last couple of days for mine and the best I came up with is 11.9 w/ cgminer 2.20 - I get a nice 820 mhash - woohoo!

btw: ckvolias do you know why Anubis web front end stopped working with the 2.2.0 upgrade?

thanks!
1282  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [ANN] eloipool - FAST Python3 pool server software on: January 29, 2012, 08:03:46 PM
thanks for clearing that up Luke! You never mentioned in your thread it was unfinished, understood now! Smiley

if you are using dash by default (debian, ubuntu) you get a /bin/sh Let command not found error
this is fixed by changing default shell to bash

not sure if it has anything to do with it actually working or not, but I hate errors

thanks again for all your contributions
1283  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [ANN] eloipool - FAST Python3 pool server software on: January 29, 2012, 07:14:32 PM
hi Luke

I was excited to see this post as I am always excited to see new pool server software

I am a little confused about this, is it unfinished - or is it just meant to be this way?

I was able to get it working even though - there are no instructions what so ever

(tip if your using Debian or Ubuntu you will probably have to dpkg-reconfigure dash and set it to no - so your using bash as default)

but where does it connect to a db? How do you manage users and shares? I see no support for this anywhere, did I miss it?

Please give us more info - I am really excited about this project!

thanks!!! Smiley

How is 2.1 better than 2.4?

2.1 seems to be the "common wisdom" as best SDK for 5000 series but I don't see any difference between 2.4 and 2.1 w/ my 5970s.

Actually the rig w/ 2.4 produced 0.7% more shares over last week but that likely is just variance.  Lets call it a tie.

Now 2.5 is garbage.  Super garbage.  If you have a 7000 series rig it should only have 7000 series because you need the crap 2.5.
I assume you mean 2.6 is garbage. 2.5 worked identically to 2.4 in my experience.

awesome!

Since this topic is hot right now - let me pop this question

Which SDK is best for 5xxx and which SDK is best for 6xxx

can we get a point of reference here? Thanks!

excuse me for being lazy but I keep seeing a lot of talk about 5970 , ive been too busy to keep up with the conversation - but if someone could tell me whats going on in respect  the 5970 development I would really appreciate it

my 5970 gets 380 mhash per core in windows 7 with the ccc 11.8

is it possible to do better?

thanks in advance for filling me in!
1288  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Reference ATI 5870 Cooler on: January 27, 2012, 02:51:00 PM
You want to keep the shroud on, it creates a tunnel effect to blow the hot air out the back of you PC at an accelerated rate. Try replacing  thermal pads and paste. Also, I have 120mm fans mounted in the front of mine to blow even more air through them and a 40mm fan mounted on the top exhaust port sucking air out. I lost around 20° C on my exterior cards and 15° C on my interior cards. Just make sure when you add fans to a cased PC that you create a nice flow through the case otherwise you wont accomplish anything.

More fans does not mean cooler temps

it really all depends on your situation but if you have open air with proper cooling shroudless is cooler.

for instance I have a rig that has 5 reference 5870s in it, 2 of the 5870s have the shrouds off because I bought replacement fans for it that were just slightly too big

this rig is open air with plenty of cooling (open window in winter/ac in summer)

the two 5870s with no shrouds are running cooler than the other 3 5870s with the shrouds intact

and I can prove it!
this is fresh data from that rig

GPU 0 and 1 are the ones without the shrouds, I have all fans at 50% and as you can see they are running much cooler - of course if you had these packed inside of a case you would have a different story all together but then again you would never be able to pack 5 5870s inside a case to begin with

I have no use for a Silk Road seller account , but I must say - this sounds like a setup!

replace the fan with a reference fan and just keep the shroud off , you will get good temps - open air setting temps @ 50-60c

so, here is the kicker, I get to the last box. a windows 7 rig with a 5830 and 2x5970s.  My hashrate dropped significantly when I added the flags to this rig.

If the 5970 individual hashrate dropped on Win7 and rose on Linux provide the driver & SDK versions used on both platforms.  It most likely is driver/SDK dependent.

Did it lower just the 5830 or did the 5970 individual hash rates drop also.  Each model has different # of ALU and thus respond differently to differently to changes in vector & work size.    Really all the v & w flags are doing is trying to optimize the # of ALU used in each clock cycle.

I noticed it immediately on the 5970's.  down to like 320ish.  I think the 580 was lower too but was inconsequential since the clock on the box is 800/300 for all cards. ( I bump the 5830 up manually if I feel like it Wink )

jjimm64: where do you put the -v -w 256 - I have 15 5870s and would like to try this , when I use -v -w 256 with cgminer it does load for me

thanks!

1294  Economy / Services / Re: BitServers: Dedicated Servers | Discounts Inside | Registered in England & Wales on: January 23, 2012, 12:36:45 AM
If your a Bitcoin entrepreneur and businessman like me you know the value of dedication, power and consistency.

I run several different businesses and need a go-to place for dedicated high performance servers that are reasonably priced.

Bitservers has met and exceeded my expectations, I am now in the second month of service and have leased two dedicated servers from them and I could not be happier. A company like Bitservers is ideal to help build up the infrastructure of the Bitcoin world and I sincerely hope to be doing business with them for years to come.

thanks Marc for offering a high end server product for the Bitcoin community!

1296  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1366 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) on: January 22, 2012, 03:41:37 PM
Slush

just want to voice my opinion here, I mined my very first Bitcoin on your pool (and sold it for 0.85 cents! ) and mined probably in total 200 coins with you.

I personally think DGM sucks and will become less popular as the difficulty continues to go up.
Yes it's pool hop proof and "fair" but only really fair to a person if they want to dedicate themselves to mining with that pool and that pool only 24/7

I like your modified proportional score system - a lot of people do and I think you should stay with it , and if you really have to change, change it to a pure PPS like BTCGuild is doing.

thank you for listening Smiley
1297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [800,000 DVC remaining bounty] for Devcoin preliminary testing on: January 22, 2012, 01:07:10 PM
What is happening with pool.devcoin.org?

I thought it was supposedly merged mining BTC and NMC as well as DVC, but I still only see DVC in my balance waiting to withdraw. I didn't withdraw yet as I was expecting to see figures for the BTC and NMC portions also show up at some point but I see no sign of them yet?

It might be useful if hacking at the code to plan that there could be umpteen more chains to merged mine too, since bitparking hasn't shown any sign yet of adding to its repertoire. (It already merges more than pool.devcoin.org does though which is why I pointed my hashing power there for now, but I hope to see pools competing on number of alt chains they merge... Would be nice to see GRouPcoin (GRP) included somewhere for example, plus of course Martian BotCoins (MBC), United Kingdom Britcoins (UKB), Canadian DIgital Notes (CDN), CZech Bitcash (CZB), General Mining Corp aka Galactic Mining Corp (GMC), General Retirement Funds aka Galactic Retirement Funds (GRF), [Galactic] United Nations Scrip (UNS), bitNicKeLs (NKL) and so on and so on are still waiting in the wings (and meanwhile being traded on the Digitalis Open Transactions Server)...

-MarkM-

I am a lot of things but unfortunately a programmer is not one of them, I hired someone to add the statistics but the work is coming along very slowly. If you log into your account you can see the beginnings of the stats being added, but for some reason this person is incredibly slow.

The reason I have not been pushing my programmer is because I recently discovered that poolserverJ does not actually work with more than one aux chains (although its supposed to) and the developer has pretty much disappeared and apparently abandoned the project, pushpool is very inefficient and archaic and not something I want to work with, maybe doublec wants to share his pool back end with me? Smiley (I doubt it)

so due to these issues things are kind of up in the air right now, not sure what I am going to do yet.
1298  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin BIP 16 /P2SH/ is bad, your action is needed! on: January 20, 2012, 05:06:53 PM
I'm about to update my bitcoind appropriately to cast my "vote" which I shall not share here, what I do wish to share here is my concern for this quote un-quote voting process, Luke you made a point that Gavin is forcing anyone who has the latest bitcoind to vote in favor by default yet you are encouraging large pool ops to basically force a default vote upon on all of their miners by changing the pools bitcoind to not support gavins change , now admittedly I am reading/writing this from my phone so I may have missed something but in all fairness isn't this supposed vote meant to be by miners and not by pool ops?

I know for myself As someone who has mined extensively for almost a year  if I am given a chance to vote on a change in bitcoin as a miner - it should be my vote that is counted and pool ops should not have the ability to vote for me and for everyone else that mines with them.

Can someone please provide information on how the votes are counted, and how a pool op is able to vote for the miners that actually Provide the hashing power?
