Yep can't wait till Sia forks.  Bitmain does whatever the hell they want for there own self interest without talking to the community , Sia should do whatever the hell they want also that's in their best interest without the need to discuss to the community.  , They should have just forked it before the A3 bricks arrived.
then they should brick their asic miners too?

if they are "decentralized" they cant just fork because bitmain crashed their party imo

Your point is valid on a zoomed in viewpoint. All miners should freely compete for coin to mine.

I would argue that in the bigger picture Sia is doing their job by breaking up centralized asic mining. So allowing their obelisk to stand a chance to enter asic competition, Sia forking is nessary to support more decentralized asic manufacturing and jobs right in the USA.

Decentralized miners don't mine on large pools. It's healthy to  break up the big pools

If your a true decentralized miner you should think about Supporting the fork. If your in it only for the cash. Keep on buying bitmain and support their toxic centralized asic ecosystem. I know I will and never proud of it. But they are the only game in town unfortunately.

Enjoy your $500 a day mining profits. You earned it and really supported hard working  Sia devs(cough bitmain). As for the Sc1 folks they will enjoy their bricks and what's left. The rich will get richer with centralized asic mining

What???  The SIA devs promoted the nonsensical view that ASIC mining would be great for their coin, and healthy, and double-plus good.  In what alternate universe could you ever think that you, and you alone, would be the only possible developer to come out with an ASIC miner?  SIA wants centralized ASIC mining, only they want to be in control.  Bitmain beat them to the punch, end of story.
This, exactly this.
1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: January 25, 2018, 01:56:50 PM

This type of thinking is what will limit Siacoin growth.  Don't you want Siacoin in as many hands as possible to be as widely distributed as possible, to grow as much as possible?  Think of how many people this brought to the Siacoin community.  Think of the stabilization and decentralization this brings to the coin.

If the devs fork the coin to brick the A3's, it's only out of spite because Bitmain beat them to market with an ASIC.  It's a bit hypocritical to say you don't want an ASIC mining the coin right now when the devs are soon to release their own ASIC to mine the coin.  Makes no sense if you want a decentralized coin.  If they fork it to resist the A3, then isn't it becomming a centralized/controlled coin?  I think that's the opposite of what they want it to be.
Absolutely agree, this is crypto and crypto should be decentralized

UPDATE 24 hour profits w/ Bitmain Antminer A3 ($350/day)

https://youtu.be/aII0FfKsU5U

Thanks for sharing the updates and experiences! As SIA supporter and (since yesterday, former) SIA GPU miner I'm very interested in seeing the changes of the network.

Ah that chart is wild... and gladly man thanks for taking the time to drop a reply! I’ll post another update in a couple days I’ve been face deep in too much SIAcoin lately lol

Just checked my rig, was getting one sia per hour, now I'm getting .5, its begun.
Asicpocalypse?!
1285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My Review of potential SIAcoin Soft / Hard Fork and 1 day Antminer A3 earnings on: January 25, 2018, 04:09:09 AM
RIP!!
lol yeah its down to 200 a day or less , this was expected by most of us though.

I predict this will be a $50 a day miner , still a 1.5 month ROI which is solid
How do you figure?

Still earning over 350 SIAcoin an hour at the time of this post
1286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Investing in SIAcoin? What YOU NEED to KNOW + Antminer A3 / Obelisk Tech SC1 on: January 25, 2018, 02:35:14 AM
Obelisk has done nothing but talk
while they were talking (and taking money for their talk), Bitmain and Balkai put OUT miners

- They screwed buyers with BTC price, the YEAR lockup will cost SO much in BTC price rise, so ROI of your actual $ back = like 3 years, and they havent been RELEASED yet :/
- By the time they drop one, it will be HIGHLY inefficient, and their excuse is:  well "were gonna promise a 2-10x better one within 6 monthish after..."    -_-  thats reassuring
- Butterfly labs all over, by time its delivered, it will be ded.
- those who buy in HAND now direct have a chance, but thats it, havent people seen this over and over each new FPGA/ASIC? :/

oh well, i don't do preorders so i never threw my money away im happy for

Well said , thats what I bee trying to tell people, youre giving $$ to a vaporware company that did not even have a freaking prototype then get mad
when they get beaten to the punch by true professionals ?

I hope this will be the last fucking 6 month + preorder we even see on these boards when all these idiots lose thier shirts.

I cant even take pity on them because we have seem this damn movie before like 10 times so far
You saw this happening 10 times, and you hope it doesn't happen again? You should know better Smiley
I did order a couple of miners from them, and I'm hoping for the best, one of my units is Decred miner, still no competitor, will come for sure. I have diversified mining equipment and risked a small fraction though. Unfortunately some put everything they got in this basket Sad
Alt least you diversified , which means you know what you are doing. Its the newbies who put all thier $$ into this vaporware miner  despite warnings I am referring to.
There should be some sort of crypto code where no one would support a pre order that is say more than 3 months out lol

my opinion on the siacoin soft / hard fork and 24h earnings w/ the a3 24 hour earnings if anyones interested

So what would happen to Sia (price wise) after these Obelikses and A3`s hit the mining pools? The price would go down, logically, right? If those numbers are correct one unit would mine 300k sia monthly  Shocked

Why would the price of the coin go down? Net profitability will go down as more ASIC's come online, which means your 300k number will drop to 200k, 100k and below super fast. But the price of the coins will stay the same, may even increase as has happened in the past when Dash and LTC ASICs came out and generated a lot of new interest.
that's kind of where my head is at too. . if the sia devs navigate this decently I think sia will probably make some big increases,  millions of dollars of hardware were just dumped into their ecosystem

Anything you'd like to see covered in the future?

Vosk I must admit I haven't watched every one of your vids yet but If I had to make a request (and if it hasn't been covered?) I'd like to know your methodology about balancing the "hobby" mining with the rest of your life. Do you work full time and use some of that fiat to purchase the GPU's/miners etc I noticed you've got a fair few miners now just wondering how you approach the whole thing ie are you converting the earnings back to fiat to expand more progressively?
I actually just briefly touched on that but it was just a piece inside of another video (maybe my livestream?) but its a topic I want to dedicate a video to. . basically more rigs = more time consumed lol plus if you diversify what you're mining there is more to keep up with and quickly my life was consumed like most of us here. . by crypto.

Personally up until Christmas when I lost my job due to having to take care of my dog (treat her like my daughter) I dedicated all spare funds and then some really to crypto / rigs but that's because I'm gambling big here. . risk / reward xD

I've been turning all my fiat and crypto basically into more rigs this year, a lot of debate surrounding that but I'm happy with my decision and when things slow down (like they are atm) mining is awesome because I'm still earning everyday instead of sitting on a static amount of crypto or trying to consistently make great trades . .

Anyway just chasing crypto dreams I guess lol

Hey everyone I posted an update into my other thread which I plan to keep up with -- which can be seen here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2813143.msg28787029#msg28787029

However for those interested in the wild ride that has been the Bitmain Antminer A3 where most owners are hoping each day they wake up their miner will still work! Here's my 24 hour earnings mining Siacoin on SiaMining with the Antminer A3 + my take on why SIAcoin should NOT fork in this situation

1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 25, 2018, 02:14:55 AM
Curious, they have so massive interest these days in altcoins and they decided to become unactive on this forum, just see bitmain's profile.
What do you think guys, does it worths to buy this miner? Maybe it's out of stock now, haven't seen but can buy in a good price.
Also what about price of those coins which are minable by antminer a3? Did their difficulty grew much these days?

The network hash rate has doubled since yesterday, expect the difficulty to keep rising and the profitability decreasing as more miners join the network.  By how much its difficult to say as Bitmain has not released total units sold/produced.  Some estimates are that 10k units have been sold judging from the bitmain bch receiving address but this doesn't account for power supplies and other miners.

An anonymous guy told me 5k sold on day 1 (he was also right about the d3 fwiw)

If anyones interested on how my miner performed over 24h I created a video on it as well as the fork drama

I think it was probably a pool overload or ddos attack as some gpu miners also reported loss in hash rate about at the same time. Probably a good idea to spear the hash between luxor(gulp), f2pool(double gulp) and siamining Sad

I tried Luxor and the same thing was happening.

@VoskCoin

I don't have any sources. But it looked like they were doing something weird

was just curious not trying to discredit trying to figure this crazy situation out zz lol

possible a3 brick testing? network wide dropping

Hey so I've got mine hooked up and boards 1 & 2 are runnning fine, but board 3 is not hashing anything.. Someone told me to flash the firmware but I don't see the A3 firmware up on Bitmains site. Any ideas? I've tried resetting it twice now. Tip for who can!!!

It was some kind of brick test that someone did. And they succeeded.

They're allowing us to mine again for now. Just reboot your A3

do you have some sources?

@ Vosk

Nice vids, I've been watching a bunch of yours lately as I've branched into GPU mining; decided to take the plunge. So far my favorite part is the "If Bitmain stole your baby bit"

Keep up the good work
haha I was hoping people liked that as after when I was editing I was like . . funny or this dude is just freaking weird xD

Thanks man that's so cool to hear, whats your farm consist of?

Hey Vosk, I hang in your discord-- good stuff. I haven't had a chance to watch the video yet but will post again on here after I watch it. I did watch your live stream this morning end enjoyed that.

Do you still think that the value of SC will go up?-- this happened with the D3 miners. Within weeks of the D3 release, DASH went up. Perhaps this isn't the place for projections and I understand that, though I am curious what your thoughts are on the subject.

The other thought I had is if it's worth even keeping around and rather re-selling. I know I know, that's not any fun, and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one on eBay, etc. But you know how quickly the D3 became a museum piece (arguably).

Overall I am very impressed (questionably) with Bitmain and how quickly they shipped these out after their announcement.
that's cool to hear Cheesy good to see you man and thanks for watching the livestream hopefully it was semi decent lol xD

its all speculation of course but with millions of dollars being thrown at bitmain hardware it would only make sense for siacoin to rise.

I agree the safer bet is definitely to sell and agreed all within one week. .  .obelisk is over here going on a year for their release kind of wild

Vosk i heard that the antminer a3's be nothing worth in few days? What do you think about the fork? Do i sell my A3 or hold it ?
all a gamble, safer bet is to sell it Cheesy I'm on the fence w/ what to do w/ mine
