1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin startups on: February 17, 2014, 08:01:41 PM
I'm confused about what this is about, but getting offers to invest in a Silk Road style marketplace seems pretty dodgy to me.

Ok Erik and Roger just invested in a company that is looking to be the "coinbase of europe". They always get great deals to invest in great companies in bitcoin. I am an accredited investor so I can invest in angel rounds of startups. Yet my inbox only gets investments in the ideas that are worthless. So I just wanted to make the community aware that a lot of us can bring a lot of talent and money to startup if they lets us invest.

I have always wanted to invest in a Bitcoin start up but can never find any which are interested I would never invest in any thing which is illegal though for example silk road.

Yeah exactly this, I invested in a few it was so much fun. I know but I get those offers, like a hobo in the back of the dumpster i am getting the leftovers of the leftovers.
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin startups on: February 17, 2014, 07:38:07 PM
Remember bitcoin startups there are others people who are accredited investors other than Erik and Roger. I really feel they get every deal, and I get invites to invest in a silk road marketplace. So bitcoin startups remember there are many investors who can bring a lot of talent and money to companies.

1367  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: http://www.pyramining.com/ - Discussion thread (no advertising here) on: February 16, 2014, 01:42:03 AM
Wonderful, it's as difficult to sell as it it to make BTC with Pyramining!!!

Only Pyramining would make selling so difficult only programmers can do it...figures!!

Actually it is using a method of bitcoin... so instead rage to your wallet developer for not making signing a staple of the wallet.

And THIS is one of the reasons Bitcoin is still (and will remain) in it's infancy!!  I'm fairly computer/program literate but I don't fully speak the language. I'm involved in 5-6 mining operations and Pyramining is by far HANDS DOWN the most difficult to withdrawal funds.  I believe this is not an accident!!

Well guess what pyramining is also the most secure since they are implementing signing. Also you just said you were computer literate... how do you not know about key pair signing? It is a staple of ecommerce of the internet. It is one of the factors that makes SSL possible.

Gweedo, less beggy more escrow-y.

I will hold on to your bitcoins until you deem the risk is over, if you don't contact me until 2 weeks after the risk has been deemed over, you will lose your bitcoins.

Good day sir.

And gweedo deems that the risk was over on August 18th , 2008

August 17, 2010 is when the risk was over Wink
1369  Other / Meta / Re: Questions to theymos about the $1,000,000 forum software project on: February 15, 2014, 06:35:42 PM
As a freelancer I know that, Wangbus will have to give Theymos his corporation's w-9 form, if they haven't done that already. That really should have been done before the transfer of the $350K.
1370  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you accept Bitcoins on a website? on: February 15, 2014, 06:37:31 AM
If you know just javascript that isn't enough knowledge to do it. You would probably get it to work but you have a very insecure system, and be hacked.
1371  Other / Meta / Re: Questions to theymos about the $1,000,000 forum software project on: February 14, 2014, 09:43:45 PM
let's stay positive about things everyone.

Easy for you, you just got the pay day of a lifetime to build open source software, which most of will probably help out with. So yeah lets stay positive.

The correct way to handle this theymos for the future is to do the lowest costing yet highest yield.
1372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitchack compettition on: February 14, 2014, 07:57:17 PM
Although if someone has something REALLY amazing you'd probably want to keep it to yourself instead of handing over the rights to another company for only $10,000  Wink

Actually no you are false about that

1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some greedy inviduals might have just blown our chance for MAINSTREAM adoption. on: February 14, 2014, 03:43:32 PM
I'm sure many on here can guess who those individuals are....

Standard Bank of South Africa is currently looking to integrate bitcoin into their banking network. Its the greatest news for the bitcoin community but i'm afraid someone have just blown that chance up. This wild swing market full of pigs will scare the executives away when they're evaluating bitcoin.

I was hoping our community would have seen a bigger picture and not be manipulated so easily.

This is call a correction, welcome to finance. Also bitcoin is about being YOUR OWN bank, we don't bankers here.

The sad thing is that half of these newbs getting involved seem to want to be. They don't care about Bitcoin; they just want to get rich quick, and then they'll probably act like rich bankers and blow it all on drugs and shit.

That is why I love when it drops big like this, keeps the real believers and kicks out the get rich scheme kiddies.

Its not about banking with bitcoin. If bitcoin is integrated in a multinational banking network such as Standardbank, it opens the gate for bitcoin adoption. No body tell you to keep your Bitcoin there. Dont be a fool.

It seems you are the greedy one now. My views are about a pure bitcoin system, banks aren't in that. Remember this is only been 5 years we have plenty of time for adoption. Just cause you want your 0.000001 BTCs to be worth $40K tomorrow isn't going to happen this takes time.

Go live in a la la land if you think ..... pooft everyone gonna use strictly bitcoin as medium of exchange. Its never gonna be like that. Without gateways for fiat coming in and out, whos gonna use bitcoin?

I live in bitcoin land Wink Well who is going to use the dollar without the Euro coming in and out?

1378  Other / Meta / Re: Questions to theymos about the $350,000 forum software project on: February 14, 2014, 01:42:53 AM
I'm pretty dissapointed that some of the money will go for an automated ad auction system, that will only work on a dying forum software, and will need to be ported to the new custom one after that. Is that really necessary?

The auction system is written in Node. It will be able to be used with the new software without much modification.

You answer one question? Come on we need answers. Please don't just ignore questions.
1379  Other / Meta / Re: Questions to theymos about the $350,000 forum software project on: February 13, 2014, 07:55:30 PM
A typical programmer costs around the price of about 80k a year (that's low for Silicon Valley too). Which comes out to about 37 an hour. All companies need to pay for benefits, overhead, rent, electricity, etc on TOP of paying out a employee. So normally you would charge a rate around 2 to 3 times the salary of a employee. That's already around 114 an hour, or 240k a year. And there's already more than one employee working on the bitcoin forums... so yea.
This could be a long-term business agreement, why drive these people away before they even have a chance to release a working prototype? The current agreement is provisional, the amount paid should cover a few months' work. Then people will actually have something to modify, fork, and perfect.

How many pages did the original bounty thread have to continue before theymos realized it was futile, professional endeavors need professional networks. I worry about the expertise that's been squandered here in the past from vitriol and mob psychology.

Thank you shil, but you are really the only person here that can't talk because you didn't track the right people, so yeah your opinions don't count. Let business people, that are living in the real world.

$1 million dollars for a forum, is insane! Any custom software, that is not enterprise level that cost more than $150K is insane! I am a freelancer I know the price. Also they already admitted that this is not going to be a full time project, they have other projects. That for sure doesn't warrant the $1 million price tag.

For $350K I rather not see the prototype. $350K for a little bit of work which they will turn over to the open source community give me a break, to do thru bug hunting and adding to it. Come on this is $150K max for the whole thing. Theymos get your head out of the sand this donation money now listen to the community we don't want this!!!!!
