141  Economy / Economics / Re: Can A Redesign of A Countries Currency Note Improve Its Economy? on: October 27, 2022, 06:00:28 PM
In recent news, it is the plan of the Nigerian government to redesign its currency notes. I don't know why such a project at this time is even mentioned, because other worst case scenarios that require redesign is left abandoned or nearly abandoned in total.
My thoughts is on how such a government at these time of flooding and inflation would think that by redesign the currency, such issue will be the remedy to the countries huge debt margin or natural disaster ongoing.
Do you think the effect of redesigning the nations currency note will be of benefit to the economy and nation at large?
Let's discuss!

https://nairametrics.com/2022/10/26/cbn-redesign-naira-notes/

Removing too much liquidity in circulation will reduce the rate of inflation. The government is very aware of what they are doing, this action is to combat the high rate of corruption as well. Because of the upcoming election, politicians have been hoarding money for their bribing activities. This action will force them to release that money or face a great loss. Either way, they are not going to be very pleased with this sudden news.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoins and Memecoins on: October 26, 2022, 05:12:49 PM
And interestingly, shitcoins and memecoins have made lots of investors serious money, while we are here debating about shitcoins, others are out there profiting from them. Am not advocating for any of them, just saying what am seeing happening.
And the most surprising aspect is the number of investors willing to throw in money on these short-term projects. Shitcoins and memecoins are profitable if you can be among the early investors and ride waves to the top. @OP shitcoins and memecoins are not completely useless if you know your way out.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Point Do You Start Accepting Bitcoin as a Payment Option For Your Business? on: October 26, 2022, 05:03:58 PM
I think the most important part is having the knowledge, don't accept btc just because so many other businesses are doing so. Especially when you are a small business starting up, btc as we know is volatile and exchange to fiat can be trickish to the business owner and customers. You can also do a text run for few days and see how it works before deciding fully on what to do.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: October 25, 2022, 03:43:03 PM

Well when market opened everything just went up, ended like almost +3% at the end of the day. It was the perfect explanation why you shouldn't time the market. I made a huge mistake and i really refuse to buy BTC at now higher price.
It really seems BTC bottomed at 17.5k and stocks(SP 500) at 3480.

It will be the perfect case of buying high sell low  Grin
Now you understand why some people prefer to hold than be in the same situation as you right now. It is not easy to correctly tell what the market will do in the next hours or days.
I think your only option now is to wait it out, hopefully, it will come down below your selling price.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Phone Mined Coins as the crypto infrastructure on: October 25, 2022, 03:36:51 PM
Good day fellas!

After NFT, what will be the next big thing? In just its early stages, seem Phone Mined Coins on trending these days, tho mostly are based on cloud mining/Solo mining and some sorts of simulation mining.

Don't get your hopes up and think this will become a thing, there is no way phone mining can become the next big thing. There is nothing like phone mining in the first place. Can you list how many trending coins are mostly based on cloud/solo mining?
If you must know, people stop engaging in cloud mining long ago because they are mostly scams, you are pretty much wasting your time and resource thinking you are mining.
The next trend is nothing close to mining let alone phone mining.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Trident Protocol on: October 25, 2022, 03:28:48 PM
Some bounty hunters don't know what they are doing, they are ready to wear any signature code for any project without proper investigation, I can still remember this Trident protocol and I knew it was a scam since day ONE, I was surprised that many went ahead to promote such gimmick project.

If you think it is that easy to investigate projects and knew it was a scam from day one perhaps you should have created a warning thread about it, plus the reason I see many hunters joining the campaign was because of the bm managing the campaign. I believe even the bm must have done some research on the project before accepting to manage it. sometimes despite the amount of investigative time you put into researching a project, the bad ones will still turn out bad.
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Mining Will Be Banned Due to Fears of Climate Change? on: October 23, 2022, 07:56:44 PM
Time and time again, different articles have shown that mining is not harmful to the environment as most of the media tries to make it look.
If for any reason they are able to ban btc mining. It still won't change anything or make the climate more better, btc mining is one part, what about other sectors whose activities also contribute to environmental pollution, what will happen to them?
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are privacy coins already dying on: October 22, 2022, 06:34:57 PM
Are they? Well that will be because the number of people who are concerned about privacy are far less than those who do not. I don't think they will completely die since we still have a tiny percentage that cares much about using privacy coins to protect their transaction.
They may not be popular among the vast majority of crypto enthusiast but it doesn't mean they will completely die off, except nobody uses them anymore which I doubt will happen.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Survive A Nuclear War? on: October 22, 2022, 06:24:25 PM

No.

Cash and fiat will be useless after a society-ending war. The only things that will have value will be the things that keep you alive:
  • Food
  • Fresh water
  • Medicine
  • Shelter
  • Bullets and other weapons

If you can't eat it, drink it, or use it to protect yourself from weather, disease, and hostile people or animals, then it's pretty useless.

First of all I hope the world don't have to experience any nuclear war.
Now assuming there is a nuclear war, and this things you mentioned are in high demand, definitely not every war affected areas will have these life saving things, so in other for those who are in shortage of then to have access they may have to buy it or exchange for something else, hence fiat will be quite useful in this scenario.
For you to have weapons, food, medicines, clean water and other important stuff to sustain lives through that difficult period, you will have to either buy them or get them somehow and am pretty sure you will need fiat.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation really inevitable? on: October 21, 2022, 07:48:08 PM
No, regulation is not inevitable and it has been happening indirectly for years, and even so now that btc is getting closer to global adoption the regulation process will keep increasing.
it is not going to be business as usual when we have big institutions joining the btc community. Regulation is inevitable and it is the price to pay for the so-desired adoption.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free NFTs are a waste of time on: October 21, 2022, 07:40:45 PM
I have never collected any free nft so I do not have any idea how it will bring money to the receiver but if we compare free nft with free token airdrop, they are basically the same as free airdrop tokens are hardly worth anything compared to a few years back. Am guessing the same thing is happening to free nft, they are worthless, you will only end up with a pile of jpeg images in your wallet that is worth nothing.
If you want to earn money from nft you should be ready to spend money as well.
152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: Bitcoin was $64k today, a year ago. on: October 20, 2022, 07:29:44 PM
Anytime the price of an asset or commodity shoots straight up vertical producing 10x+ returns, it's a good time to sell.

Let this be a lesson to anyone new to crypto, not to get greedy.

You can say that bitcoin was 10x return a year back and it was a good time to sell. But do you remember when bitcoin was at 69,000$, the whole media, everyone was shouting for 100K bitcoin? At that point, it was hard to sell when everyone was anticipating 100K.

You can call this greediness, but these whales make such an environment that a common man like us never sells and keep holding.

You are both right in different ways, I would say as from 60k and above was a good time to sell but @virasog pointed out, with such prediction from whales, it was difficult for many investors to make that move to sell. I believe this does serve as a lesson in the sense that every investor should have a goal and a target point so that they don't get confused when the price surpass their target and keeps going. It is a tough but necessary decision to be made.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Colleague at work now have bitcoin holdings on: October 20, 2022, 07:22:32 PM
Usually the longest you get for a failed transaction is 10 business max if it wasn't auto-reverse back to your account. Banks are known for their sloppiness, things that can be done instantly or few days will take much longer time with bank.
Your friend timing is right to invest in btc, he should consider it as a blessing in disguise, if not for the bank disappointment, maybe he would not have invested in btc this soon.
154  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What to do if your Ledger key have gone in the washing machine on: October 19, 2022, 05:01:29 PM
I have been hearing this rice trick for mobile device fell in water although I haven't found myself in the situation when I will put it into practice, I didn't know it will also work with ledger too.
I will keep this in my and also try as much as possible not to have a reason to get some rice. Smiley
155  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption Should Be Taught From Young Age on: October 19, 2022, 04:54:38 PM
Make people able to recognise corrupt practices because some corrupt practice has been made normal that some people having trouble understanding such are corrupt practices.
Also introduce a heavy punishment for anyone who is found guilty of any corruption regardless of position or status. Many politicians and affluent people consider themselves untouchable so they mostly get away with whatever corruption they engage in.
Teaching it in school alone won't change anything when there is to strict ways to handle the situation. It will be business as usual for them.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is due for a big break on: October 18, 2022, 08:21:51 PM
The post sounds there like is big new that is about to go public to trigger a huge buy, but all these things op has mentioned have always been part of ltc but it wasn't enough for people to start buying so why do you think that will change so suddenly and people will start buying?
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 18, 2022, 08:12:49 PM
Awaken from your slumber and allow me to correct you. Some people were even more bullish.

That prediction is from December last year, when everyone was giving a lot of bullish predictions that have not come true. Even Michael Saylor was giving predictions like that one and now he has become a bear.
No, you seem to be in some kind of slumber. Roll Eyes

Did you read the WHOLE tweet?

That guy predicted the Ukraine invasion, EU energy crisis, 20% inflation etc. Back in 2021. And yet, you didn't even comment on it.

Read it again...

If that post is as original as it was posted without any editing functions, I would say whoever it is has a crystal ball since almost all that is on that list has occurred, but then again it is hard to trust things like this as it is very easy for people this days to edit stuff. But the btc prediction though is quite high if you ask me, even if such a prediction can happen, it will certainly be for the very long term.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc Will be USD and USD Will be btc on: October 18, 2022, 08:03:21 PM
I don't think it is necessary to ask where you get your information but I can clearly see you are trying to be a troll here. You have mentioned three different stablecoin in your post trying to make a senseless point.
Why don't you tell us how btc will now become USD, USDC or USDT?
I will suggest you take time to read through the forum slowly, it will help you understand better what btc is and why it will never be usd, usdc or usdt as you fantasise.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins Will Go Parabolic on: October 16, 2022, 03:09:11 AM
Very interesting. Altcoins now are ready hot especially with the upcoming event on Ethereum which is The Merge, which is the highest market cap among the altcoins.
The 40% Bitcoin Dominance level is a really strong and a key level for the support, especially last year, it is already tested over the time.

Unfortunately the eth merge didn't perform as expected because of the bearish market. Btc is fighting to stay above 18k - 19k but it doesn't seem like a strong support. Alts are doing poorly since they depends on btc movement to react and right now it doesn't look like alts are ready for any parabolic movement as described by the @OP, at least not now. Maybe after 2024 btc halving we can start expecting to see some excitement.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone who buys Coins from the Top50 will stay poor on: October 16, 2022, 02:47:17 AM
In crypto, not everyone will get rich, some will continue striving to make a living, others will make it big depending on how they navigate the ecosystem. Small mc are very risky and can also be very rewarding. And somehow you made a valid point, most high mc project can only give you a decent profit to leave by but hardly will you get rich through them but they are safe to invest on. Low mc cap on the other hand are high risk, high reward (if you are lucky).
