141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Outlook for Helium HNT the next few months? on: April 15, 2024, 11:48:36 PM
Honestly nobody knows and that isn't because of helium but more the market as a whole.  If bitcoin surges then so will all of these other coins.  World events will also shape what happens out there.  As Iran shot missiles at Israel and people braxlced for a world War all crypto dumped.  So no matter what anyone says in here no one really knows.  My guess is a lot of sideways trading for awhile while the world settles out what they have to

Lakers at 8th, not a bad position to be in, they could beat Pelicans and even finish at 7th as well, going from 9th to there within two games is definitely a big achievement without a doubt. I understand that people may look at it differently, but I do believe that's actually an advantage for Lakers.

Thunder finished first, Nuggets finished second, so anyone who is 7th would be in trouble, I think both Pelicans and Lakers will be aware of that and may not want to win it in the end, if they win it, they are facing Nuggets, if they lose then they will face 9-10th winner too, but at the very least they will face Thunder in that situation. I think it is going to be a very weak spot, Thunder is not that great, they may have finished first, but they lack playoff experience.

I think they will want to salvage their season still regardless of who they are going to face in they move to the playoff. But obviously, it will be the best and 2nd best team in the West. So they should take care of their business first before looking as who will it be.

Same for the Warriors, although they have a good chance as they will be facing the King. Betting odds agree to the majority that they are going to be the favorite. But let's see, Warriors are pump to this kind of games and Steph will be Steph, maybe scoring 30 points or more to carry the team in his back.

In a game against the kings where they don't have many people who can lock down step I expect a 40 point type of game.  He is going to get up 30+ shots.  Shoukd be a high scoring game.  Winning the 7th spot is no treat as you have to go to Denver for a tough 7 game series.  I can't see any of the play in teams beating the Nuggets 4 times before the nuts beat them 4.
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's winning more casinos or gamblers? on: April 15, 2024, 11:43:32 PM
It's kind of a self answering question.  If a casino is in business it has made more than the gamblers have.  As soon as it flips for too long. They go out of business.  All of the games in casinos have a house edge in terms of expected winner.  Also gamblers tend to play until they have no money left.  Most don't have walk away points.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Approach Alt-Coins in This Israel-Iran Pretended War News? on: April 14, 2024, 10:54:01 PM
DOGE Dogecoin: -50% down from the recent high; 10% to the lows in March; 40% left to the lows in Feb; Dogecoin didn't dip too much recently, and I am wondering why?
For me it's not so much of a surprise. Dogecoin benefits from a couple of developments lately:

I think the most important fact is that Dogecoin futures were announced by Coinbase (they're coming still in April according to this Coinbase blogpost from a few days ago). This is the first time a Doge-based financial product is issued on a regulated US exchange (perhaps even worldwide). While BCH and LTC futures are also part of the original announcement, they were already launched at April 1. For Doge, this "sell the news" event has still not happened.

Then of course it's benefitted by the memecoin frenzy in general. While their heyday may have passed already (at least for this wave), Doge specifically may be benefitting from the current developments as people are running away from extremely risky assets, so if they have still hopes for the "memecoin" category, they would probably choose the more established ones -- or some exotic newcomers, but it's not for everyone to search the cryptosphere for weeks for "the next new thing". Doge has performed well in the last weeks but did not explode completely like dogwifhat and friends, so people may be seeing still potential to the upside.

This is not an advice to buy Doge now, I'm quite skeptic about it and it could of course crash deeper. But in comparison to other memecoins they seem now a relatively acceptable choice.

I think for the most part all of the top coins are pretty safe from bottoming out too far.  The coins you have to worry about are the new ones that recently took off.  People aren't long term holders and if it drops too far it likely will never go back up.  Dogecoin will see a nice bu.p once we get into a full on bull run.  I'm not bullish on doge long term but in these bull cycles it will go up so long as bitcoin goes up.  They trend together.

146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 14, 2024, 10:49:58 PM
What a conundrum as the Lakers and Pelicans winner will have to face an away series against the Nuggets.  It's so so bad to lose that game and hope for a win the next game to line up against okc.  Might just be me but I'd much rather see a young okc team than jokic and squad in the first round.  Not that you'd want to purposely lose but it's just not as bad as everyone would think it is.

And for the east the Knicks won theor way into the 2 seed.  Normally you'd think you would get a nice matchup but they can end up facing a healthy sixers squad which if embid never went out they probably would be a top 4 team.  Well to be the best you have to beat the best right?
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 14, 2024, 04:45:46 PM
Lots of scenarios on the last day.  Adam silver gets a head nod on good move making the play in touny.  Amd even in the standings.  3 way tie for first over in the west.  One slip and you can be facing a road series in the second round.  The 2-7 seeds in the east are up for grabs and np one knows who is gonna play who yet.  Gonna be a hell of a day watching ball.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 14, 2024, 04:42:48 PM
Last game of the year is always weird.  You don't know how coaches are gonna play it.  So I will stuck with teams fighting for position still.

1) gimme the Knicks-13.5 against the bulls.  Bulls can't move and knicks have a real shot at the 2 hole if the magic beat the Bucks.
2) with that being said same on the Bucks fighting to hold the 2 seed.  +6.5 I like theor chances
3) sixers -11.5 against the Nets.  Nets are gonna lay it down and not kill their starters.  Sixers are fighting to get out of the play in.

Enjoy the last regular season games all!
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When is alt season likely to be? on: April 13, 2024, 10:37:07 PM
From my little knowledge I believe altcoins follow with the price of bitcoin.

So I'm only expecting the Altcoin season to come when bitcoin price surges high. So if you already hold the altcoins that you believe on them it just a matter of patience and as soon as bitcoin surges high now boom Altcoin season will be here already.

Since we are over the first quarter of the year I'm likely expecting the Altcoin season to begin soon because in few weeks bitcoin will boom and then Altcoin season will follow the steps.

Ypu have no idea when bitcoin will "boom" just speculating.  Usually it lags well behind the halvening so I don't expect anything to happen soon.  Amd with the world events unfolding like they are I think we are in for a huge drop until it all settles down.  A slow pace back up to these levels and then we might see alt season commence.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is LTC dead? on: April 13, 2024, 10:32:10 PM
Once, Litecoin was a very famous coin and it was called "Digital Silver".
But nowadays, very few people talk about Litecoin anymore.

Is Litecoin dead in your opinion?

Not at all.  The problem is we are living in a crypto get rich quick time.  People would rather put their money into dogcatcowcoin than something that is technically superior to all of those "projects" combined.  Once all the dust settles on those fads people always come back to the viable projects.  Not dead just quietly moving forward.
151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Legality and Myth of Card Counting in Blackjack on: April 13, 2024, 03:21:44 PM
I have learned that card counting is legal in blackjack but casinos frown at it. Most casinos have a surveillance camera that watch each table to catch a player who caught counting cards. A player may be thrown out or banned from the casino if caught counting cards because there is a belief that it gives the player an edge. How true is this or this a myth? If for instance card counting is legal in the UK but outlawed by casinos doesn't it makes it illegal?

It's not illegal in the sense that there is a criminal charge against you with the law but casinos frown upon it because it gives the player an edge.  It's not a myth otherwise casinos wouldn't care.  Understanding the odds with remaining cards left in the deck will help you win more than you lose.  It happens all over the world but with technology getting better its easier to spot and stop for casinos.  Watch the movie 21 it's a pretty good movie about it.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you feel when you experience violence while gambling on: April 13, 2024, 03:17:41 PM
Stick with online or heavily regulated and secured brick and mortar casinos.  With this much money involved and unfortunately people's livelihoods at stake I don't like being around a volatile situation.  For me gambling is used for entertainment.  Anytime i feel like the situation is risky or unsecured I split.  No fun in looking over your shoulder the whole time.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 13, 2024, 03:14:29 PM
I think the Lakers, Warriors, and Kings are all fighting for the last play in game spot aren't they? 2 out of 3 of those teams will not make the Playoffs. I think Lakers prob make it in personally.

This is the rules of the play in
https://www.nba.com/news/nba-play-in-tournament

Loser of 7 and 8 will face the winner of the 9 and 10.. So if the Lakers will end at the top 8 and they loss to the Suns, they still have one shot by playing the winner of 9 and 10.. So there's an advantage in finishing at 8 rather than 9 or 10.

The Lakers will need to win against the Pelicans on their last game, otherwise they'll fall below the 10th seed again if the Kings and Warriors win theirs. As far as I'm aware of, tie breakers in the NBA are head-to-head record first. So, that means the Lakers are below against the Warriors (1-3) and the Kings (0-4).
The Warriors and the Kings on the other hand is tied against each other this season, so I think there is another criteria for this to determine who's going to be in the 8th seed. I have been following the games from these 3 teams as things are getting interesting between them.

The play in for the 7th and 8th seed has certainly made it interesting.  Think about that, if it wasn't in place only 1 of the Kings, Warriors and Lakers would make the playoffs.  At least they have a shot and it definitely makes game 82 wildly interesting.  Getting that 8th slot is key.  You get 1 away game and can lose and still have a shot.  Being in the 9 and 10 hoke and having to win 2 one and done games in a row only to face an away series against the first seed is brutal.  Out of any team I think the Lakers would be best fit to take on the #1 team with Bron at the healm.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are the good days for meme coins gone forever ? on: April 12, 2024, 10:42:13 PM
Probably not.  Not that I condone buying them or think they should raise in price but they probably will.  That last run was not the true bull run it should be sometime later after the halvening in May.  Greed is the major driver of that market and when things start to move ypu will see people's greed drive that market.  One major pump and then a complete fallout I would imagine.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 12, 2024, 10:36:24 PM
Looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves will be getting Karl Anthony Towns back in time for the playoffs. With how well they’ve been playing I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not, but KAT is an elite talent so I’m sure he’ll help out. I just hope Anthony Edwards continues to get the ball as much. He’s playing great.
Just to stretch this post, here is the news about Karl Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sources: Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns expected to return Fri.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39923850/sources-timberwolves-karl-anthony-towns-expected-return-fri

Quote
Towns, who underwent surgery four weeks ago, was officially upgraded to questionable for Friday's game. He was cleared for full-contact, 5-on-5 basketball activities on Tuesday.

I think the Timberwolves will be alright. KAT had been playing like a shooting guard ever since Gobert came to their roster. He mostly just waits outside for a kick-out pass because of his high efficiency at the three-point line. So chemistry will not be a trouble for them. It's actually a good addition because they will stretch the floor again and the scary Naz Reid will have more opportunities to be open in the three-point line again. We saw that guy a lot of times go hot and never stop. He did it against the Warriors and the Lakers both 6/8.
And Antman will have more space to do his paint attacks again. The trouble that I only see is in defense if KAT is not mentally prepared yet.

Yeah if the Timberwolves want to have any sort of success they need to have KAT right.  Bringing in Gobert was the best thing they did, it allowed KAT to roam the outside while knowing the paint was still secure.  He is fine defensively but he prefers to play on the outside and they play better when he can play liek that.
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Illegal Books on: April 12, 2024, 10:33:09 PM
There are a plethora of illegal books, many run by college students, young adults and even teens. How secure are these websites??
What I am really asking is how easy (possible) would it be to hack the site and change a users balance without being detected??

Why would anyone use any of those sites anymore.  Back in the day when sports or casino betting wasn't as easy to access you had to take risks.  Nowadays there are plenty of reputable choices that you can use with little to no worries.   The only reason I could even see is if you get cash out and not digital and if they have better odds than any other place you can go legally.  Either way too much risk.
157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making bets with my stupid friend on: April 12, 2024, 10:30:14 PM
Betting with your friends is some of the best bets.  It keeps the money in your circle.  What's better than bragging rights over your good buddy.  And honestly since the house always skews the odds, you get way better odds playing against each other than the house.  Makes for a good entertaining night as long as you can keep it low enough where it doesn't hurt anyone.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your strategy to win in this bull run? on: April 11, 2024, 09:02:23 PM
I think I have a very sound strategy that's good in any bull (or bear) market.  Cover your risk tolerance by cost average in on regular intervals.  Too many people try to time the market and either buy way too early or not soon enough.  You limit your downside risk by not going all in at a particular point when a drop can be incoming but you also catch any pump by not waiting for the right time to enter.  Simply put: Stack Sats
159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports winnings taxes on: April 11, 2024, 08:58:21 PM
Hi I won 7 figures on soccer betting over the last few months and withdrew the crypto to my cold wallet, how can I sell this crypto and avoid paying taxes?

From where I live you can't.  That's like earning money and not paying income taxes.  There are probably ways to do it but all of them are illegal.  The only legal way probably to do it, is to move to a tax sheltered country (isle of man?) and then conduct business there within the guidelines of theor tax laws.  Other than that shady dealings that involve skirting the tax law all of which I don't recommend.  You won a ton, pay your dues and enjoy the winnings legally.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 11, 2024, 08:55:52 PM
100% yes its a source of entertainment.  I can't tell ypu how many times I've bet on a sports game that I wasn't particularly into in terms of watching and then once I even put a small amount of money on I got real interested in the game.  Males it more exciting.  Same thing with brick and mortar casinos.  It's a source of social interaction.  With gambling comes great places to eat, bars, clubs, etc.  It's " a night out" and gambling is that cost of entertainment for the night.
