961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: August 16, 2023, 09:23:56 PM

Nice odds, though. I wouldn't hesitate to bet on the Philippines to win, as they are on their home court and will surely receive significant support from the crowd. The basis for those betting odds was probably their current standing, but in an event like this, home court advantage is a big advantage, so I'm all in with that.

Also, I'm thinking of betting on the spread too. It's currently +9.5, and I believe the home team is undervalued here.

I think those odds are pretty accurate and on point. I would wonder if it will be a game around the 10 point gap, the odds makers did a good job there.
Having KAT helps the Dominicans of course, only thing speaking for PH here is the home court advantage and a basketball love crowd that will cheer for them.

Unfortunately excitement doesn't beat talent so it a steep mountain to climb if they want to win. Everything is possible but they must have a very good day to beat even a just ok Dominican team.

I did further research after my previous post and discovered that the Dominican Republic is a stronger team this year. Not only will they have KAT, but they also have Al Horford as another big man. In addition, Chris Duarte, who is an NBA player, is part of the team.

Here's another interesting story: it's the Dominican Republic that prevented Argentina from qualifying for the FIBA World Cup.

Argentina men’s basketball team fails to qualify for FIBA World Cup

Quote
Argentina, the world’s fourth-ranked men’s basketball nation, failed to qualify for this summer’s 32-team FIBA World Cup and will miss the quadrennial world championship for the first time since 1982.

Argentina, runner-up to Spain at the last worlds in 2019, was eliminated with a home loss to the Dominican Republic in its 12th and final game of North and South American qualifying on Sunday.

A team with KAT, Horford and Duarte is no joke.  KAT is gonna dominate this game on the I side if he wanted.  Knowing him he will sit on the outside and look for his outside shot. Between him and horford it's gonna be a tough cover between them.

Messi makes all the difference. He wins no matter where he goes.
Lionel Messi has guided Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup Final. Every after match, Inter Miami is becoming big club. Even though the club was at the bottom of the league standings, Messi has turned things around after his arrival. Now, they're on their way to lift the Leagues Cup trophy for the first time in their history.
They way Inter Miami play now, it is like they have never been bad. Messi in the team has brought out the best of every player in the team and I am very happy for the young players the team has. It will be glorious for Messi's career if he can win a trophy for his new club in less than ten games, It will also signal that a new era has begun for the club and the supporters will be excited for the future of their club. Lionel Messi has reignited the passion that supporters have for the club, he has performed at unexpected levels at his age, he is truly one of a kind.

It's not even as if he is bringing the best out of everyone rather the defense completely focuses in on trying to stop him.  This is leaving guys completely open, lanes completely open.  He is like a human cheat code, he makes everyone else on the field look like they don't belong there lol.

If it becomes something that teams wants to win then yes it will matter and we are going to see teams play for real and we are going to have fun. However, if it becomes something useless then we are not going to see something that will matter at all.

I think the best thing to make it more fun in the end would be checking all-star game, we have changed the all-star method a lot and in return it didn't become more fun, nobody does any defense at all and they just have fun and nobody cares. If it's like that, then I am sorry but this will be bad but if they do actually play like it matters that means we are going to see something better. So all in all, I believe that we are going to see something that will matter without a doubt.
raucous.

If there is little to nothing to play for than of course the defense will lack.  Not only do players want to stay healthy for the regular season (and real playoffs) but they don't want to hurt the other players too.  It's hard to make any of these non in season games count for anything.  Honestly the vegas league is better basketball than the all star game.  Those players are fighting for spots on a team at least.

~snip

Australia run out of lucky in the semi final. They missed so many good chances near the end of the match. England then punished them with the third goal and sealed the spot in the final.

it was not just luck, but yeah Australia had their chances to join final match, but missed it
England proved that they were first favorite for the title, and they will have to prove it once again against Spain

it will be kind an ironic to have England as Europe/World Champions in Women football, while men team can't get it home for 50+ years
nevertheless, Spain has decent chances as well, IMO

Yeah I think some from the men's side might lose theor minds, won't be able to live it down.  I was actually rooting for an Australian final, would have been awesome to watch them on theor home field.  Spain should be glad to see the English, that Australian crowd might have been raucus.

Kawhi has always been one of the biggest "what ifs" in the history of NBA, of course there are a lot more as well and this isn't at the top for sure but he is a big one. This dude won 2 fmvp's and is not even considered remotely anywhere the top, not even in any top 10 topics ever, I am not saying that he is not in it, I am saying he is not even considered to be in it at all, ever.

How many other 2 time finals mvp's can you name that people wouldn't even consider a small slight chance of them being in top 10? Nobody. That dude spent 2 years as bringing championship to his team, and all rest of his career as spending time resting his injury. That's really not normal and should be considered a bit weird but unlucky at the same time.
The king of "Load Management".

That's what some people call him right now, and that's true. Ever since he went to the Clippers after winning a title with the Raptors, he's been doing this load management sh*t that ruins the whole team. What's worse is that, he only says that he will not play just minutes or hours before the game even starts. I mean like WTF!!. You're being paid, and you will choose whether you will play or not even though you can play?

Anyway with regards to him being considered in the top 10, he's easily on the top 10 on the list of current active players right now "IF" he's healthy. We already saw how good he is back when he was in the Raptors, and he won a title there. I mean with his skills on both offense, and defense, I can put him in the top 10 conversation no doubts. It's just that injuries really ruin one's career, and that includes him. We know his potential, and how good he is.

2 Finals MVP's don't matter if you play like that. Always getting injured, can't be a leader, always silent, and at the same time, don't know how to laugh Cheesy. Kidding aside, Kawhi no doubt is a top 10 player, and there was a time where even Lebron is afraid of him when Kawhi is in the court because of how good he is defensively. I already said the problem with him, and I hope there will be a cure with that one.

Dude is a competitor his body obviously can't handle the full rigors of an 82 game season.  No reason to go hard in November and December only to have your season cut short when it matters most.  Not that I'm an advocate to sit but having kawhi for the backend of your season versus the front end is what we are more likely to see every year going forward.
966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 14, 2023, 09:51:29 PM
This is actually a little embarrassing.  What is elon even thinking, this guy is just a straight attention where.  Figures that's why he latched onto dogecoin.  If he was pumping bitcoin nobody would blink and eye.  Dude is smart but needs to get his social shit together lol.
967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People with quick rich attitude always mess up with alt coins on: August 14, 2023, 09:49:11 PM
I have mentioned multiple times in past here that people should be cautious with alt coins. If some coin has moved up like 100% or more in just 24 hours, it does not mean that you should also purchase the coin. You should first understand the reason behind prices moving up. Then, you should also analyze the benefits and demerits of the project.

One such option has come again in safemoon. The coin has pumped more than 100% when they reduced fees from 10% to 1%. Now new investors are rushing to invest in this coin. This is the situation when the past investors in the coin are like in 99% loss of their invested value. But greed make people loose all senses I think. If you are still thinking to invest in safemoon now, think twice.

Of course and that's why most people lay money into these worthless altcoins, some far belief that this is going to be the next coin that does 1000x or something.  Whenever you try reading into these coins it's all overran by people talking pump and coin price.  Little to no actual useful talk going on.  Greed always kills, altcoin buyers especially.
968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Whitepaper just Buzz Word in Alt and Meme coins? on: August 14, 2023, 09:47:14 PM
Hi Friends,

I often come across Alt Coins and even meme coins showing white paper. IMO, they are absolutely ruining the meaning of Whitepaper, aren't they?

Some of them use it for showing Toeknomics, some of them show their Utilities & Use cases, some show Roadmap and Planning, and some show just Memes in the paper.

There are many Crypot New Enthusiasts who just jump into the Project as and when they see Website and Whitepaper link. Hardly check what is even inside!

Just wondering what is your take on it!

Everyone started doing whitepapers because Satoshi wrote one for bitcoin.  To me all the buzzwords, whitepapers, etc doesn't mean anything unless there is a real project behind it.  It can write a fiction story just like anyone else can.  I'd be more interested in the day to day happenings then some sales pitch paper.

Agreed he is one of the biggest what ifs. Seems like a good dude too.  He is definitely unlucky in that his body won't keep up with him.  He is on eof those players who doesn't look like they should be good but when he is healthy no one in the NBA can guard him.  Never seen anyone get so many open shots for themselves.  Unfortunately time isn't on his side he is Def on the backside of his career.

Is DOGE Coin's Rise a Sign of the Future of Cryptocurrencies, or a Fleeting Internet Meme Phenomenon?

Doge was a boredom phenomenon in 2020-21.  History doesn't normally repeat itself when it comes to useless things.  Memecoins serve zero purpose other than trade toys to get more bitcoin.  They mimic ponzi's and are just driven by greed.  It will soon all vanish along with all the money people put into them.

The Athletic is reporting that the Philadelphia 76ers are refusing to trade James Harden and requesting him to appear in training camp. However, James Harden has said he has no plans to play for the 76ers this year and won’t be attending training camp. We’ve got ourselves a bit of a stand-off situation to start the 2024 season.

Not sure what is happening to the 76ers right now, but they have been in this kind of situation before. We all know it started with the Ben Simmons drama and it dragged them out for months. And so it seems the curse is not yet over as in less than two years they have this situation again.

I guess if they have given so much power to NBA players, we will see this kind of stand off. Not the first time though, and if I'm not mistaken, Kyrie has this kind of situation as well and Kawhi Leonard, when he was with the Spurs and doesn't want to play unless he gets traded and he got his wish back then after a year and traded to Toronto and win their first championship ring.

This seems like a flashback to Ben Simmons' history, LOL. If we end up witnessing a similar situation, we might not see James Harden next season either. The team seems to have no plans of trading, so Harden will have to remain on vacation, waiting for the right time to be traded. There appears to be a problem with the 76ers' management; the team's cohesion with players isn't great, with stars leaving. Except for Embiid, who stands out, or could it be that Embiid is part of the problem?

Embid already said that he just wants to play for a championship, no matter where that is.  With Philly up in flames right now I can see embid getting traded at the deadline if they really aren't competing.  Embid would get a nice haul, dump Harden to a contender and build off Maxey with a bunch of picks.  Doesn't seem like Phillys direction is on the right path better to get assets for their stars now.
972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 13, 2023, 01:12:46 PM
Both 1/4 final games today were really exciting. Maybe Australia - France wasn't most beautiful, 120 minutes without goals, but penalty shootout was amazing. I preferred to see France going to semifinal, but after all, happy for Australia and all people who support them.
Colombia joyrney ended today. They were underdogs and achieved more than anyone expected. And even today, they gave good fight for England. It's bad for them that they didn't managed to keep lead for a bit longer, that would give more pressure for England.
I didn't think I will see France kicked out of the World Cup by Australia honestly. After all the journey ended with penalties at least so we can blame them less. Now Australia have to face England next and try to play the same scenario with them maybe? I don't think England will let them go to extra time and penalties.
Spain - Sweden will be interesting in my opinion with a slight advantage for the Spanish team.
Since the premier league season began, I've not really given much attention to the ongoing women's world cup, possibly because it is women playing and women's play can never be as interesting as when men play  Grin.
I saw the news of Australian women beating France and I was quite surprised, though I later learned that it was through penalties, A friend of mine who actually is in love with women's football to me the match was a very tough and interesting one to watch,  and to be honest, i had the opportunity of watching that match but just didn't think or thought it will be interesting enough.
Anyways, congratulations to the Australian women, and hope they are able to face and beat England, but i honestly think that will be very hard, except they take England to penalties again, then maybe they will stand a chance, just like with France .

And talking about Spain and Sweden, i think the winner of that match is clear enough for all to see, except football decides to give us another surprise, then that could be understood, but outside surprises, i dont think Sweden have much chance of beating Spain, well, its women's football anyway, anything can happen.

I agree this world cup has been uninteresting overall.  There has been no consistency overall which I guess is a little inviting in that ypu have no idea how the outcome will go down.  I wonder if you take all the underdogs and the odds they've been giving if you would end up, up or down while betting them.  Seems like betting the underdogs would have been the play this tourny.
973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: August 12, 2023, 09:53:31 PM
Whenever we are talking about having more teams in the world cup as qualified teams, people will usually think about some confederations leaving fewer slots than others.
For example, you may think African countries should get more chances than what they currently have. But if you check the countries and teams who won the world cup in the past, you can understand that Europe got much more titles than other countries, also every time in the world cup there are more countries in Europe we were expecting to see them playing won world cup but they couldn't get qualified for this tournament.
I think it's understandable, think about it in team rankings way and you will realize that it's not really that shocking, we talk about something that will be unique in that aspect and should be considered a good deal one way or another.

I get it, not everyone thinks the same way and some people want equality on this, but the reality is that if we check the rankings of the teams then we will see that most of them at the top are European, and even though there are some good teams from other continents, the overall continent as a Europe has more better teams than any other continent. This makes it easier to decide this and make a clear choice. Hopefully people will realize this and can see world cup without too much complaint.

I'm not a huge fan of same amount of slots per "area".  What ends up happening is an uneven balance of poor performing teams.  And some of the top teams in the world are left out.  I don't know if there is a perfect way to get the right balance but I'm all for having the top teams in the world compete.
974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 12, 2023, 09:50:07 PM

Yes, I agree. It is still premature to say that coach Pops will just be with the San Antonio Spurs for just a year specially when Wemby is still approaching his first season and rookie year in the NBA, and it was one of the reasons why the Spurs have convinced coach Pop to extend his contract. Needless to say, this will be not the end of it and coach Pop will soon find his answer again why should he stay for another season.
Wembenyama could end up getting injured or being a bust, cannot control if those things happen. If they did though, Pop might decide it's time to walk away. Spurs really need Wemby to have a monster season. If for nothing else than to keep their best coach ever interested in staying in coaching.

I get what you are saying but I don't think Pop is only gonna stay if wemby pans out.  He has won enough championships to cement his name in with the greatest coaches ever.  Unsure what his motivation is honestly.  They are a young team amd years away from competing for the chip.  Maybe this time around his motivation is to bring up these young kids.  Either way dude is a legend.

We didn’t get to see LeBron and Durant matchup in the playoffs last year unfortunately but the future looks good. For the first time in 5 years we get to see Kevin Durant and LeBron James face off as the Phoenix home opener is scheduled to be against the Lakers. I wonder how much tickets for that game are going to be…

Those tickets are gonna go for a mint.  Especially since it's the backends of theor careers.  People know they don't have too much longer to go see either one of them.  I'd love to go see that matchup but will be out of my price range for a single game.  Playoffs those will be insane..
976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What factors contributed to the absence of price change after the Litecoin halvi on: August 11, 2023, 08:28:23 PM
Why didn't the Litecoin halving affect the price this time? In the past, halvings led to higher prices, but now there are no clear results. I'm puzzled about the reasons behind this. Please help me analyze.

It's really simple, any altcoin halvinging doesn't matter at all.  The only thing that changes altcoin prices is what is the market doing.  And specifically bitcoin.  If bitcoin is not running in price than neither will any of these coins.  Don't take too much stock in its lack of price movement, none was expected.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins profits or bank profits, which best? on: August 11, 2023, 08:26:20 PM
Bank investors have more certainty because there capital is completely safe but they give 8-10% annual profits to the investors of per year. But it is comparatively less in terms of profits.

On the other hand you will get constant profits from crypto as if you are experienced in trading then daily profits is possible. Otherwise you can get profits by investing. However crypto investment puts your capital at greater risk (main point).

Two wildly different investments.  When you trade crypto, especially altcoins ypu can lose your money in an instant.  Playing it safe with banks won't net you the upside but the downward risk is much less as well.  Trading altcoins should only be done with money you are willing to lose just like with gambling.

The result of the match between Spain national women's team against the Netherlands counterparts will always we talked about all remembered in the history of Spanish women's football. It was a result that not many had predicted before the game because Netherlands shown better signs of performance when compared to their  Spanish rivals.
Spain are just two wins away from world cup glory and would definitely do anything possible to achieve the biggest dream of Spanish women's football
I see it as very possible for them with how they have played in this competition. It was a tough game against Netherlands, but they managed through and will not let Sweden stop them from getting to the finals of this competition. When Spain will play Sweden, I can predict that Sweden will be beaten by many goals and not just one. The other games tomorrow, Between Australia and France and England and Columbia will be tougher than the games from today. It will be an even tougher battle in that group for the team that will get to the finals.
I'd like to think or predict differently on this game between Sweden and Spain, I don't know why you feel so sure that's Spain is going to defeat Sweden. Remember Sweden just knock out one of the competition great team which was the one of the prospect of actually winning the competition too @japan. Sweden are also a good side and they won with even the bookmakers giving them little chance at it looking at the odds difference between japan and Sweden

This game I feel like is completely up in the air.  Netherlands could have won that game but blew their chances inside the offensive box.  Great counter in the 111th minute but could have gone either way.  Think it was a bit of a shock that Japan lost after the way they've played in the cup so far.  Going to be a great semi that can go either way.
979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 11, 2023, 08:21:28 PM
I agree to that, he already master all his teammates I'm referring to the core that he will play along in the crucial minutes, he knows how to take advantage of his height and utilize his teammate in terms of creating space and giving good assist.

That maturity will give a hardship to any team that they will compete against his team, Jokic and Murray as leaders,
they blend well and they trust each others decision making inside the court, supporting back to back and win or lose
the game together.

To be honest, The duo of Jokic and Murray makes their run very successful and not through Jokic connection with his team mates since most of them is already crumbling especially MPJ and KCP on their match against Heat.

Jokic is very good on creating space for Murray and scoring by himself if Murray is not in a perfect shape while the rest of the team besides them is just holding the ball and contributing a lot of miss shots. Nuggets has a terrible defense except with Gordon which is their main weakness that is just being compensated by their strong offense.
Chemistry is something other teams lack, especially those stack-up teams; superstars change teams frequently, making it difficult for them to form bonds like the Nuggets players. Some players have the ego of a superstar in their heads all the time, and they want to be the major scorer all the time rather than focusing on winning, focusing on a team effort.

Chemistry is why every team wins championships.  Most teams win by drafting and/or having players on a team for a long time.  Rarely do ypu see a team coming together and year 1 or 2 winning out of the gate.  Goes a long way understanding how each player plays and what role they have.  Keeps egos in check.

I don't think gambling is a peer pressure type of thing personally.  Gambling is very singular in that as an individual you either win or you don't and your friends being in or out have no effect.  I mean I guess to a certain point everything is but overall I don't see this as a huge issue.
