221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 13, 2024, 09:18:53 PM
We are getting closer to the end of the season and there are two main reasons why players end up closing the season out. First of all, when you get injured and you can reach for the last 5 games, just sit those out too and relax, why rush these players back, there is no reason why they need to be back.

If you are a playoff team and you could get them then maybe you could and that may look better, but at the time Houston is not, Atlanta is not neither so they could just rest their players. Secondly, the fatigue plays a big role, a lot of players already played so many games, and so many minutes and if they didn2t get any rest in the middle from some small injury for example, then their body may not handle the load.

If you are the coach of fringe teams they aren't resting players.  The reason is if you can backdoor your way into the playoffs and win a series that could net you some extra time as coach and gm.  Nobody just lays down because every year your job is dependent on winning unless you are a team so far out like Detroit.  But teams in the 8-10 hole or even 11 spot are gonna play everyone til the end.

You wake up from a one-day coma and decide to check on your favorite franchise, ah shit, you can't recognize your team's roster anymore. Lol   It's crazy how many moves have taken place in the last 24 hours. It might be the first day since the Super Bowl that i've actually missed football.

Some quick/early thoughts on a few of the signings:

Saquon Barkley to the Eagles. For some reason, i don't like it, i think it is more or less a lateral move. Swift can do almost everything Saquon does but for less money, and Barkley has a history of injuries. Eagles had more pressing issues to address than adding a new RB. For example, their defense, terrible secondary play, and some of the worst tackling i've ever seen...why not fix that?

Christian Wilkins, the Dolphins DT to the Raiders. He and Maxx Crosby on the same dline look scary. I like how the Raiders rallied around their interim head coach to turn things around late in the season. Losing Josh Jacobs is huge, but i suppose you can't have everything.

The Vikings' QB room looks bleak now that Cousins has moved to Atlanta. Darnold, Mullens, Dobbs, and Hall, i mean who do you start? Not ideal for J. Jefferson dynasty managers.

edit;

HELL YEAH!!!

The King is on the move. Sources say the #Ravens are expected to land #Titans star RB Derrick Henry. After attempting to trade for him a few times, Baltimore signs him now. 👑
Henry gets a 2-year, $16M deal worth up to $20M with $9M guaranteed.

Not only is that bad for fantasy managers but Jefferson proclaimed that he loved playing with cousins.  Did ypu just piss him off enough to split town when he becomes a free agent.  Minnesota better figure out theor immediate plan forward or they might slide into a complete new rebuilding.  If they are I'd trade jettas for some crazy draft capital right now.  Trading to a fringe contender could net some good draft capital.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do the juice Worth the squeeze? on: March 13, 2024, 09:13:08 PM
That all depends on your goal.  For me I like to bet for entertainment so while yes the odds can be 50/50 (most likely not with house edge) the object for me is more entertainment amd not so much all in it for the possible doubling of my money.  The output in some cases is that I win and have fun.  Other times I lose but still graded some entertainment value out of losing.  So yeah for me when I do gamble it's worth it.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Man bet his life savings on 1 spin of Roulette on: March 13, 2024, 09:10:52 PM
I don't understand why anyone would do that.  On one hand you win great right?  But what are you really going to get with that money that makes the risk worth it.  The other side you lose everything you've worked your entire life for.  This just doesn't seem like it makes sense.  More tangible things to be able to buy does not male up for a lifetime of blood sweat and tears.  No thank you.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: March 12, 2024, 09:49:41 PM
I don't think gambling everyday leads to a healthy lifestyle.  Taking time off to enjoy other things without the pressure of feeling like you are missing out on a big win is huge.  It's important in everything you do to diversify and spend your time doing many things.  It actually makes abling lore enjoyable when you do get time to.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you still buying altcoins?? on: March 11, 2024, 09:57:43 PM
If you’re a dedicated crypto guy then you should always be buying, when you’re able to. Now is still a great time to add to your holdings. We are not even at the Bitcoin halving yet & traditionally the price of Bitcoin & most good altcoins rise exponentially after the halving so keep buying whilst you can get cheaper coins.

Agreed.  Continuing to dollar cost average and buy and you would be in profit at least for bitcoin.  But there is plenty of money to be made on alts if you know what you are doing.  I wouldn't recommend a large portion of your stack in alts but definitely worth putting some there.  Having an exit plan and sticking to it is important as well otherwise ypu get stuck holding a bag.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins profits or bank profits, which best? on: March 11, 2024, 09:55:12 PM
Bank investors have more certainty because there capital is completely safe but they give 8-10% annual profits to the investors of per year. But it is comparatively less in terms of profits.

On the other hand you will get constant profits from crypto as if you are experienced in trading then daily profits is possible. Otherwise you can get profits by investing. However crypto investment puts your capital at greater risk (main point).

There is no right answer.  Just by the very nature of where you are asking you probably will get everyone answering altcoins and not banks.  But really you need to figure out what you want that capital for.  If you are saving for a house for you family amd about to buy a house in a year or 2 you might not want to risk the chance of losing that money.  Or maybe it's for retirement 30 years from now and you can recover the losses over time.  Then you might want to take the risk.  Basically each person has to do theor own risk assesment.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: March 11, 2024, 09:08:00 PM
The only 2 choices will be Biden and trump I don't know why anyone would drop bets on other people.  Third party has been unsuccessful for centuries lol.  Kind of shocked trump has better odds than Joey B.  Can't bet on this one no clue how the outcome will be and have no vested interest in hoping one way or another on this based on a bet.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake loses $615k bet on Joshua-Ngannou bout on: March 11, 2024, 09:06:00 PM
Peanuts to Drake.  He is a known high rolling gambler.  I was shocked too how well Joshua fought considering Ngannou's first professional boxing match went.  Don't kmwo if he had an off night or Joshua had a great night.  Either way that's like noelrmal people losing $100 on the match lol.

Eagles signing RB Saquon Barkley to three-year, $37.75 million deal

https://www.nfl.com/news/eagles-signing-rb-saquon-barkley-to-three-year-37-75-million-deal

As a giants fan this sucks!  Now I have to watch saquon run all over the giants twice a year.  I figured he would go to Philly if they offered, he was a Philly guy.  Can't blame him since the giants refused to give him a long term contract.  In other news the giants signed their long snapper to a new contract, whoo hoo.  Seriously it's important since they will be punting and kicking field goals most of the season Sad
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wise to Cash Out 3.5 ETH For Debt Payments on: March 10, 2024, 09:14:48 PM
Right now the markets are rising in our favours. Too bad the worlds markets are in FIAT.
Right now i wish to pay off some credit card debts i have. All in FIAT of course and yes i know i will have to pay tax on the capital gains.
Would i be making an ok choice to sell off some ETH right now to CAD to pay some debt off. as where markets are im in the position.
just wondering on the tax i have to pay, would i be paying more tax then what i will be writing off in credit card debt? thanks

Although I think crypto gains will outweigh the possible % you are paying on that debt it's never a bad idea to pay off debt when you can.  Paying off debt has mental health benefits that can far outweigh any possible crypto gains you might achieve.  There's a chance crypto goes down so it's your decision but good luck either way.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 10, 2024, 09:11:16 PM
2-1 my last set of bets so back on the up and up.

Tonight it's 3 more games.

I like the look of the Knicks and playing Philly without embid I see the Knicks taking this one down favored at -7.5.  Next game I like the Pacers +1.5.  Orlando is home and was a tough pick but I think Hali matches up well here and controls the game.  Pacers win by a small margin.  And last game I like kings at home -6.5 against Houston.  Again I like the matchups and think this one is a blowout type game with kings winning by 10-15 points.

Good luck and enjoy the games!
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 10, 2024, 09:05:14 PM
Curry coming back is of course a great detail, and looking at the standings right now, it would be highly unlikely that they would fall places, they will finish the season 10th most likely right now, Rockets are not getting that back.

However, while looking at it I just realized Rockets are not tanking and looking like they could be in the playoffs or at least play-in very soon, in 1-2 years they should be good enough for that. They need the players to stop trying to show their worth, they proved that, when you are a young player you try to showboat and just take all the shots to show your coach and the whole league that you deserve to be there, but most of them been there for 3 years now, so they need to just calm down and play within a system.

Rockets have a good base and who knows what happens in 1-2 years.  Theor trajectory is upwards and I like some of theor young players.  Just like with any young team they need one or 2 of theor young guys to hit and get on an all star level of play and then they will be fine.  Add in one or 2 hits in free agency and then you got yourself a contending team.

Golden state is in trouble anytime steph goes down.  He is the heart and soul of that team.  No steph no playoffs period.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It’s unlikely that anyone besides you will be happy with your winnings. on: March 10, 2024, 09:02:01 PM
I don't see it this way.  When one of my family or friends wins something big I am genuinely happy for them.  Generally speaking anything that makes them happy in life should make you happy no?  I mean not over the top or as happy as it makes the person themselves but why wouldn't ypu be happy for them.  Yeah I agree if in a casino and someone you don't know wins big I don't think much is to be expected in terms of being happy for that person.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Create a player list of rights on: March 10, 2024, 08:59:32 PM
The only way I see this even remotely happening is for brand new sites willing to part with their ability to developed a casino as they see fit in return for hopefully some traffic.  There are hundreds or thousands of casinos out there.  If you don't like a particular one because of theor views then just don't use them, just like in the brick and mortar locations.  I like the idea in theory but in execution I don't think this would get very far.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $26,000 to invest, any suggestions? on: March 08, 2024, 11:47:36 PM
Hey there!

I have around $26k in stable coins, and currently own:

30% BTC
20% ETH
20% SOL
20% LINK

I'm considering some low cap projects, but try to stear away from complete meme/gamble projects, only driven by hype. Doge, Pepe, etc....

Which projects should I look into? Currently on my radar are:

Hydranet (HDN) First Layer 3 DEX, which offers instant, virtually feeless trading between BTC, ETH, USDT, and many more. Their DEX is live, and working, as can be seen here, comparing Thorchain And Hydranet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SJsAUx-hJA&t=11s - Fees collected from the DEX will be paid in ETH to token holders.

If Hydranet dethrones Thorchain, we're looking at a 180x from here, which is pretty damn good.

Connext Network (Connext)
Connext offers layer-two scaling solutions. Connext addresses the scalability challenges faced by blockchain networks, resulting in faster and more cost-effective transactions.
This one is interesting, but high risk due to its very low marketcap.

These are just a few examples on my list - I'm looking for projects with actual utility, as I invest for the long term.

What is on you guys radar? I'm not interested in dog/cat meme coins, or anything like that. I don't plan to straight up gamble my money, like in a casino.  Cheesy

Honestly that's too much in alts.  Any portfolio that is less than 50% bitcoin is at risk of losing more than you gain.  Some of those alts are large cap so not a massive risk but the upside isn't much more than bitcoin to begin with.  I'm of the thought process that 80% or more shoukd be in bitcoin and gamble the rest on alts.  But that's just me.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead Coins: Over 50% of Cryptocurrencies Have Failed on: March 08, 2024, 11:45:15 PM
Over 50%?!?!  I'd say more like 99.9% of crypto has not only failed but has never even started as a legit project.  There are thousands of coins people don't even know about and only a handful that can be seen as successful.  It's really easy to create coins so there is no reason scammers would stop now.  If one fails then they can just create another.  Crypto alts is a landfil of garbage to sift through.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 08, 2024, 11:41:08 PM
The Simmons news was one thing… Shams also reported that Karl Anthony Towns is out for the rest of the season with a torn meniscus. Horrible news for the Minnesota Timberwolves who have been looking like this might be their best chance at winning a championship since the days of Kevin Garnett. Sad news…

But there are reports that he could still go back and it will take at least 4 weeks or a month. And if they get to the playoff regardless of their seeding, chances are KAT will be back in the lineup. Nevertheless it's a big blow to them, although ANT just exploded for 40+ points and with a chase down block to give them a big win.

And probably that's the reason whey the are the underdog in this game. But they proved the odd makers wrong again and there are bettors who go to Pacers knowing that KAT will be out (including myself).

I don't know if he can comeback because according to the official report, his status now is  he is "out indefinitely", which means even if he comes back he is still not 100%. Not sure what would happen to this team but it's a good thing that they have a good standing now, and they need to prove that they can still compete at a high level in the playoffs even without KAT, although they are better with KAT.

Let's see how this team will go after the injury, things really happen as we never know when this injury would hit. Just so sorry for this team, they look like a championship team until this happened.  Sad

It's a huge blow to the Timberwolves.  Sitting in the one hole but now with a huge he to fill.  KAT is huge for that team, I don't think Ant is built to carry a team yet.  I can see Denver tightening down and claiming back that one seed.  Either way in the west it doesn't seem like being in one spot vs the other will make a huge difference.  All the teams 1-10 are going to be an issue to deal with.  So long as they emd up in the 1-4 holes they should be fine come playoffs.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 08, 2024, 11:38:35 PM
Couple nights off but last night went 1-2.  Need a couple wins here tonight to right the ship.

Game 1) gimme the cavs -1.5 against the Timberwolves.  Without KAT the duo of Jarret and mobley shoukd be able to handle the center.  Home game and basically a pickem.  Tight game but gimme the cavs.

Game 2) bucks -3.5. In LA and nationally televised game just feels like a dametime 40 point game incoming. Giannis is a lot for that group to handle.  Bucks -3.5 on the road.

And lastly I like Houston-5.5.  This one is more a gut feeling and needed a third game and this one felt the best.  Lol. Probably the only one I win tonight Smiley

Enjoy the games!
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 08, 2024, 11:11:48 PM
Especially on sports betting we see some racism happening and this happened in most of the league that are popular of which so many persons bet on. It bothers me to ask, that imagine you placed a bet and somehow you have 80% assurance that it would come out successful. And on the process of waiting for the game to end there was some racism manipulation in the game which made you lost the game. It could be football or other sports cause its mostly found in sports.

Next time would you choose to not bet on a particular game because you feel the members of the VAR, or the referee are racist, and you are sure that there would be some manipulation?

Never.  I have no idea how someone could even put the impacts of racism into the outcomes of sports games.  Traditionally speaking both sides of the ball have the same level of races playing in one game.  How would you pick one side vs the other based on something so rediculous as racism?
