141  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Americans Profits from War and Terrorism on: April 27, 2024, 08:09:27 AM
It's not a secret to the world anymore that whoever triggers war, there's a sure hidden agenda that's being taken looked upon by that country. But pooya is right, it is not the Americans that are taking benefits here but the United States of America. There are many Americans that are for peace and they're even calling out their government to stop sending support and sending billions of money to those countries that are in the war and are about to get involved in the war. It's because many of their states have got a lot of citizens that are in need, veterans that needed to put attention of their budget, healthcare and other help that they need for themselves.
It's very simple that they're asking to help their people first before sending aid to other countries that are also calling for peace and not go to go all in war. But this is how these leaders understand how business works for the sake of the economy of the country. Ever since in the ancient times, war has been there but before it's all like territory matters. This time, it's about being superior economically and doing that through triggering a war and pushing some kids(small countries) to be brave enough as Uncle Sam is on their back willing to send help but in terms of selling them arms that they need to face that war that they're startling.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 26, 2024, 11:35:01 PM
I don't know why the Lakers management broke the 2020 bubble Lakers roster because that's the best one that I've seen with Dwight Howard as the center. He likes to bully ball Jokic underneath the rim and it was so effective as Jokic stats was down big.
Yeah, they badly need a better pointguard but they also need sharpshooters, those who can really contribute in high pressure games like this one.
It is all about business brother. Even if the fans want to keep up the roster that has given them that bubble championship. Still, it all boils down to the business matters. I like it when Dwight keeps on poking about he's the only one to stop Jokic because there's some truth with it. Well, he's out of the league and playing some leagues overseas and that's how he's making some money now. I thought that they've got negotiations with him before to sign him for this current season but it seems that it didn't go into fruition. Maybe on the next season, they'll have him sign like some test runs again but this is hard for an NBA player when he's already out of the league and after a couple years didn't managed to get back, it's very unlikely that a team will sign him again.

DLo is good when he gets hot so he is more of a shooting guard. Wait for the ball to get in his hands and shoot.
That's actually disappointing, with his tries for the 1st quarters. A lot of shots have missed and it's always in the three, he should have get close to the paint and just try to contribute with 2's instead of 3's if he understands that he's way out of luck for threes.

I think the Lakers might just win one game as Coach Malone may try to restrict the minutes of Jamal and Jokic in game 4 and then end it in Game 5 with a fresh stamina in their homecourt.
This is possible for preservation of their superstars for the semi finals which is likely they're going to be up against the Minnesota Timberwolves since their series against the Phoenix Suns is now 2-0. While Suns have been thought as a super team for this season, when it comes to playoffs, they always fall short. It's something like this that has been happening in here, good performance and standings during the season but in the playoffs, they're out. It's a different ambiance when the playoffs is in.
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: April 26, 2024, 10:39:13 PM
This is true, there is no problem if these streamers will have a disclosure that they're promoting a casino and the kids or whoever is in not at the right age shouldn't patronize and gamble. It's only for the adults that have jobs and can sustain their gambling enjoyment. Otherwise, it's not for all the audiences of the streamers that are doing their thing and livelihood through that craft they have. There are many responsible and as well as irresponsible viewers that the streamers can't control but the same goes to them when they don't tell a lot of facts about the casino that they promote.

Most of the time, they'll be given some demo account and it's going to have a lot of money on it and letting the fans think that they've got a lot of money deposited in there. But little did they know, it's not what they think. All of the money that are into that account of streamers are actually activated by the casino themselves and they're just demos so that they can show it to their viewers on what kind of gamblers they are. Another twist is this, the chance of winning of those streamers account are very much high compared to the accounts of the customers that will try to sign up under them. It's just so crazy and the marketing level is on a different level with that because they want to take advantage of those streamers that has a wide engagement.
Streamers are delicate. They must entertain and pay the bills, which is difficult. Flashy demo accounts with cash? The picture is deceiving, right? These accounts are rigged to lure you in. Smart marketing, but dishonest.
I agree, they're not to blame here as that's how they do it with their livelihood but with sort of deception with how they market a casino. That's how many have been hooked thinking that those cash they're winning are for real and could also happen to them. It's really a marketing strategy that many don't realize it and they're biting that way of marketing so they think that the chances that these streamers are getting are also going to come to them.

Not all streamers are to blame. Lack of upfront disclosure is the issue. Simply saying "Hey everyone, I'm getting paid to promote this" is enough. Knowing the score, adults could choose. We need true transparency with kids. They must realize that what they see isn't everything. Education and protecting the vulnerable
I have seen a lot of them that are disclosing that they're sponsored by a casino and always get to the point at the end to gamble responsibly and moderately. So, with that, they know that everyone that should gamble because they've promoted the casino needs to be responsible as well and they never lack of reminders to them. Yes, they earn money from these promotions but not all of them are having that sense of responsibility for the fans that they're going to drag into the casino and deposit and becomes addicted later on. They don't think of that much because many of them think about the affiliate and commission that they're going to get from them later on.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: April 26, 2024, 09:34:54 PM
I should really stick only with XG I guess
For the chinese dota 2 community, that bracketing is quite painful. Two chinese teams both at lower bracket and only one chinese team going to proceed to the next bracket and only one has to win, with this, Xtreme Gaming has been eliminated and G2.IG is going to move on against OG tomorrow. While for the first match of the lower bracket with Team Liquid and Heroic, Team Liquid moves to the next bracket and they're now facing Team Falcons, the score is already 1-0 in favor of Team Liquid.

I guess that I am wrong on my assumption that the Team Falcons are the ones that will be triumphant on this ESL. But it's not yet finished, if they win on the 2nd map against Team Liquid then there's still the last map to decide whether they'll be moving on or not. And together with the match tomorrow, we've got the upper bracket for the BetBoom and Tundra Esports.

Speaking of MC, what actually happened between him and the team though? it feels weird to suspend him indefinitely, I mean why dont they let him find another team. I mean yeah shit probably happened but this is the first time I've seen notes like this though
Maybe there's a part of his contract where he has to stay in the org for a specific amount of time and probably loaning him to another team is his only option similar to what Nigma Galaxy did with Sumail and ATF.
That's right, he's binded with the contract that he has with Nigma but we don't know for how long. MC really needs to move with another team as they've been stuck with Nigma for how many years already without any progress after winning a TI title. We want him to be at a better team that's always been qualified with the majors that we're watching right now.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can a seed phrase on steel or titanium sheet survive this flood? on: April 26, 2024, 08:39:46 PM
I wouldn't question its survival because it's possible it's still intact even it drowns but the question is if it will be found and kept by the owner? I'd agree to zaguru, that's the next thing if the owner survives as well with that kind of flood but usually, there's a rescue response before a house or city gets drowned and flooded like that.

It might probably has been swept away from the house into the ocean.
Exactly, not just to oceans but can also be burry down by the things that are flowing in the flood. So, someone who has his seeds that are engraved, it's best to have it like a dog tag as another backup or if it's in metal plate, make sure that you're able to bring it before some disasters like great floods comes in to your area.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone you introduced to BTC says the risks of her funds is on you on: April 25, 2024, 11:39:23 PM
That's silly, these people don't really want to take risk so don't invest at all. I've got that experience before and I just ignored that person until today because if they're asking for a safe investment, there's actually have some and those are the bonds offered by the governments and the banks as well but don't expect a lot of return from there. But if they're okay with the risk that Bitcoin is going to give them then they'd be happy to take the risk and the profit will also be appreciated by them because it is them that has taken the risk.
This is the reason why I am avoiding these people because if they can't do better for themselves and take the risk on their own, they are no good in investments and they'd stay wherever they are with that kind of thinking. Also, if they want this kind of risk free taking, they should have contacted the brokers and financial managers but they'd tell them that there's always a risk on it and there's no refund upon incurring losses. That's how brutal the investing industry is and if they're not willing to lose, avoid any investment vehicle but it's scary that they might end up with the scam schemes that guarantees them money and tells them that they're risk free.
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blogs and Forums. Additional Features in Online Casinos on: April 25, 2024, 10:54:26 PM
There are online casinos that have a blog where their clients or potential clients can turn, to read gambling related articles without leaving the website. There are also online casino websites that have its own forum for their clients like a community interaction.

In addition, there are the ones that do not have any of these features. While  some of us may just want to sign up and start playing immediately, it is not so for others. Do you by chance consider these features when assessing and selecting which casinos to join and play on?
No but it's a plus if the casino has that. Like for stake, they've got their own forum. But who doesn't have nowadays? a sub-reddit can be its own forum but I get the idea without leaving the website but if it's going to be more popular than the one that they've made then it's best to just stick to that sub-reddit of their casino. It's not really a factor though but I think the advantage is that we're already here in bitcointalk, the threads from the casinos in here have its own community to help and maintain it and that's why the most known have their own representatives.

Otherwise, this isn't a matter of concern of the other casinos. But, just take a look at the most reputable ones. They are not ignoring the boards and threads here especially their announcement threads, it's also an outlet for them to share promos and as well as read the thoughts and complaints of their customers. That's why for someone, this is an important thing but as I've said, we've got the upperhand because many of the popular casinos are already here and we don't have to register elsewhere just to convey messages to them if the on-site support isn't replying yet.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: April 25, 2024, 09:49:38 PM
The problem isn't to promote gambling industry, rather it's how they are promoting gambling industry. If there are warnings telling people about the risks of gambling and guiding them on how to be responsible gamblers, there isn't any issues. It's a legit, transparent and fair propaganda. The problem is when these streamers lie to their public and give the wrong impressions about gambling. A common example is when they say gambling is a source of extra income and that people should gamble to make their wages grow into larger sums of money.
This is true, there is no problem if these streamers will have a disclosure that they're promoting a casino and the kids or whoever is in not at the right age shouldn't patronize and gamble. 149  Economy / Economics / Re: Starting a business without capital. on: April 25, 2024, 10:39:30 AM
All you need to start this business is good communication skill in other to sell the product of the other person and get a commission for doing that.
Any commission basis job can make you start a business out of it. With the capital of being a good salesman, you're going to be able to save money out of it as long as you know who are you offering the product. Being a real estate and car agent, this is a good start for someone who's looking to get into the sales world. Everything is being run by sales and if you're a good salesman, for sure that you can sell everything. Most of the real estate and car companies are offering affiliates or commissions to the people that they're going to hire. It may not sound as a business but it actually is because you can be your own boss and make your own marketing strategy to drive sales for the companies and the products that you're selling.

There are also agents that are wise and from the commission that they're going to earn, they split it to someone that will help them refer buyers or customers that are going to avail their products. It's a split share for them and despite not getting the whole percentage of commission, they get sale easily by having a referral and commission to someone who has helped them to drive any sale. Lesser time and effort exerted but with easy money on their end, so it's a win-win for an agent who's got a good strategy in having more sales and not just leads.

Now, we're all in the playoffs for the ESL One Birmingham 2024. Just to give a recap about the teams that are eliminated. Here are the four teams that have said their goodbyes, surprisingly the expected ones were gone too soon, namely.

  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Team Spirit
  • Talon Esports
  • Shopify Rebellion

And within few hours, the 2 matches for this day are going to start with the upper bracket and tomorrow with the lower bracket. See the reference for today's matches. IMHO, this is going to be an easy path for Team Falcons, what do you think dota 2 fans?

151  Economy / Economics / Re: Is increase in minimum wage a good method to fight inflation? on: April 24, 2024, 11:46:57 PM
If you're the type of guy that's stagnant and relies solely your living to your salary, it does help. But for how long with that increase you'll have to wait again until you get another one? The inflation isn't going to stop anytime soon and before it's like every year we get to see inflation rate increases but this time is crazier, we get to see reports of it monthly and they're increasing like 1% monthly.
That's actually a lot if it's going to be merged and added for the entire year so, with your possible 5%-10% of increase as that depends on the capacity of the company and the inflation goes up depending as well on your economy's performance but let's make it into the crazy situation before but now becomes a norm like a 12% inflation rate where we get that from 1% monthly increase.
It's enough? to say, yes but it's not going to be enough for the upcoming years to come as your salary increase above minimum will be lesser in terms of your purchase power with the goods that are also increasing. Plus all of the expenses, rent/mortgage or any obligation that you're paying monthly. Many of those are going to be expensive as well as there's a domino effect that we get to see when inflation rate increases. Coming from oil, commodities, food, etc. Everything now becomes so expensive that even the food prices will also affect the other things that we consume and use.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: April 24, 2024, 10:40:20 PM
not sure whether anyone has answered it or not, what I know from several cases of mistakes that beginner gamblers often make is just thinking instantaneously or considering gambling as the easiest place to make money.
This is a common thought not just for old time gamblers but also for the beginners that have started their ways to gamble. They think that it's the easiest place to make money and that's why many becomes addicted to it and they start some common habits that many aren't noticing that they're doing. And one of it is becoming optimistic for every bet that they do, they think that it's going to be a good start when they'll be optimistic with their bets and even if they're already on the losing streak, they're not going to stop because they're optimistic.
So, so much optimism is also bad when it is loud and clear that you're on a bad day and losing streak that keeps on coming.
When you won't stop at that day, you'll incur more losses and that's a mistake that many does, so there's no exemption on it and the acceptance that you're having a bad day with full of losing streaks is a pill that's hard to swallow.
You think that there's still ways that you'll able to recover which is true but you have no idea if those ways are going to give you full recovery for which most gamblers have accepted it that when you lose, then forget about those and start somewhere else. Many will agree that it is one of the biggest mistakes that many are doing, thinking that gambling is like a cash cow to them where they'd just land and get money with just few bets but in the end, the opposite happens and they're losing more money instead.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 24, 2024, 09:20:07 PM
I don't think that gambling can ruin a person's life if it remains a hobby. If gambling begins to become an addiction, then yes, it can ruin the life of a person and his loved ones.
That's where it is going. A simple hobby that's becoming an addiction is what the many lives have been destroyed and that's why it is not easy for someone to make gambling as a hobby without expecting to become addicted to it.

I know people who treat betting and gambling as a hobby. They bet small amounts of money and do it infrequently, maybe several times a month, as I understand they enjoy it and do not suffer if they lose money.
I believe there is a difference between a hobby and an addiction. A hobby does not have negative consequences, but addiction can ruin a person’s life, as you were told earlier
Those kind of gamblers understand that they're gambling to have fun and they're controlling themselves as much as they can because if not, they're doing things the wrong way. So, gamble always and with the hope of winning some but don't forget that gambling is just on your side when you have lost your control. The emotional control and thought of you as a gambler will determine what kind of person you are and the tolerance that you have as you gamble and avoid the temptation of being addicted to it. But with the common results, we've seen this kind of hobby ends up into a serious gambling addiction.
154  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: April 24, 2024, 08:12:24 PM
There are countries that have produced a lot of finance experts and citizens that have financial education and IMHO that adds a greater gain to the economy of those counties. So, it's about knowledge and not actually the product that they're going to use or the services that they're going to make. As long as most of the citizens are in-depth and well versed to Bitcoin or anything related to money, that can end the poverty from that country. But it also differs per preference of each citizen. Some may not prefer to get into these things even if it's promising and has the potential to end the cycle of their family's poverty.

And that's why if you're into that stage of thinking if it's going to end poverty of a nation, it possible can. But every nation has their own problems wherein the citizens can't be pushed to the best that they can and we've got different point of views to this regard. We are optimistic but on the otherhand, there goes the pessimistic folks that are thinking oppositely, obviously, that there's no way to end poverty but by just the traditional method that we used to know like in business or high salary jobs.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to store your seed phrase? on: April 24, 2024, 11:43:57 AM
Imagine if you lived in Dubai which just had a great flooding event.
There is little to no time to react in such a natural disaster, so many people lost everything or almost everything.

If you had only a physical backup of your seedphrase it would be washed away in the flood and lost forever along with your hardware wallet and stored funds.
If I lived in an area known for natural disasters I would consider keeping a backup online. Every year many people lose their homes to wildfires in California for example.
This is actually a good example why having a lot of backups is important. But I wouldn't say that a cloud backup is recommended because of this. If someone who's into that situation and you're in your house, you'd get your back up as soon as possible because you've placed it on a safe place where it won't be washed away by the flood. It takes time until the flood goes up and resurface to the high place where you've placed your hardware or the seed itself. So it varies per situation but if you're saying that keeping a back up online is a solution, it's not really a good idea IMHO even if you're in a situation where disasters are more often. Try to do something like making a dogtag where you'd place it on an area where you can take it away with you asap.

There are ways to do this relatively safely as suggested previously (ie: passphrases, mixing up two or more words, encrypted Microsoft pdf files, etc.).
This may not be for everyone but could be an option for some.
Encrypting it on a pdf file or any word file isn't really a choice for me or anything that I'd store online. This is your wealth that you'll keep so if you have no other option then it's just best to store your wealth on fiat and deposit it on the bank than to do these solutions that you're having.

Day 2 is done for the ESL One Birmingham and here's the recap for the past two days and as well as the current standings that they have.

I'm amazed of the last match of XG and Gaimin Gladiators, it was about to become a 1-1 since all of the games in the groupstages are 2 matches per series. XG managed to do a comeback on the 2nd map. I wasn't expecting that when the lead of GG was actually far and they're just about to end the game, well on that match I can say that patience did really paid off for the Xtreme Gaming. Last day for tomorrow and we've got some idea on which teams are about to get eliminated and won't make it to the playoffs.
157  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Risks to take in marriage on: April 23, 2024, 10:40:42 PM
I have seen a lot of relationships that they're just trying to save it because of their kids. Some worked properly but many of them didn't. If you can't take it anymore and you're with a partner that you've chosen wrongly because the relationship and companionship that you've built tears and becomes weary, you should just save yourselves from the emotional being from that kind of relationship. Yes, you may still try but if it's not working out, don't push your luck for it but just be good parents to your kid/s. That's the responsibility that both of you have taken and you shouldn't miss any important gatherings and events of that fruit that will serve as your remembrance of how both of you have been before.

The risk is high but when you are able to get together again then that's nice. But as I've said, the majority of what I've seen with these kind of marriages that are already tearing apart, some solutions worked but most of them decided to just set apart and signed contracts that they'll never forget their responsibilities to their children. I know that some cultures are family oriented but in some, this is no longer a big deal as many children grew up with their step dads/moms or did had one parent but you know what folks? The love of the grandparents are the best that they can lean on and that's why many of these kids from broken marriages have found their comfort through their grandpas and grandmas.
158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lies told to cover up gambling habit on: April 23, 2024, 09:40:07 PM
Have you told any gambling related lie before? Please share, let's read and have fun.
I think that I did but not to my wife but to someone about telling that I am not a gambler so that they won't know that I am into gambling. This kind of topic IMO is actually good if you're going to merge them with the others or just make it as a gambling confession thread. I am sure that it's not just going to be shown in the reddit but many of the members here are going to share their experiences and confessions about what they did as a gambler whether they're crazy or not.

And about that friend of yours, there are a lot of similar stories and I am sure that many gamblers don't want to know that they've lost a lot of money especially those that have came from their salaries because it's shameful to be known that you're a gambler, you've lost everything and your salary and then you don't have a face anymore to face your wife and admit what has happened. But you are partners and you shouldn't hide anything to her unless that's so crucial for you and your wife will surely not like it. It's important that both of you know each others flaws because you're both for each other to help in some cases like this and to give reminders that you don't have to lie about such.
159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 23, 2024, 08:45:15 PM
Crazy indeed. It was the game of Lakers and they're on the lead but then Nuggets did managed to get close to their lead and Lakers fell short with that. The most clutch on this match is Jamal Murray's buzzer beater. Actually, it was an overtime already but the advantage was on Nuggets because they're the last shot and if ever Jamal misses it then the game proceeds to the overtime. That was actually a sad lose for the Lakers. Everyone really have thought that it's going to be a tied series but, as long as there's time then the game is still on. They should have covered all of the outside shooters including Jamal but they don't know who's going to take the last shot.

That last ball possession of Lakers on Lebron James, he shouldn't just go into three points since it's going to be win or overtime for them. He should have just got close near to the ring and shoot on the paint but he didn't, he thought that three would go in but in that crucial time, he should decided and made a better decision. In the end, it was good hands of Jamal.

Crazy indeed and it shows that there's no huge lead is secured since Nuggets able to eat the 20 pts Lakers lead and take away the 2 - 0 advantage. They supposed to be so good on first half Davis and Russel perform both on offensive and defensive end but they got choke on second half then that's how we see a crazy ending game between this two big teams. I don't know what happen to Davis since it seems that he's been scoring has been limited and he didn't perform so well compare on what he did on first half. Also its great to see that their coach made good adjustment and this is the result. Nuggets have great tactician and they make those struggling players step up on second half and the last shot made by Murray is so epic which make them take the win.

What Lebron did is a good shot he is widely open and he can able to convert that, but its just he's not lucky at that time and he missed that shot so that means the win is really meant for Nuggets. So Better luck next time for them and they should perform more better since its a do or die game for them also to bad if they will be sweep again by Nuggets.
It's not yet a sure win until the clock goes to zero. Too bad that Anthony Davis did a lot on the whole game except on the 4th quarter. LBJ should have just given him all the ball possession and do what he had to do. I think there's a problem with how the ball rotated on the 4th quarter. Well, there's a leader and captain that has to see every teammate who's free and go to shoot. But IMHO, if whoever is there that's on the momentum, he should be given most of the ball possessions so that he'd take advantage of that momentum.

What happened isn't like that, I don't want to blame but this is part of the game. LBJ did really missed that chance and from the big lead that they've got, they're able to tie and then with that buzzer beater, they didn't expected that it's going to end like that. Well, there's still the last game for them if they won't win that upcoming match but if they do, they need to win all of the remaining matches that they have which is going to be hard to be honest. The confidence of the Nuggets is there and that's hard to beat.

As right now BTC is more of a store of value. The value of it is not high enough to be able to use mainstream for the global market as the money system. For all markets to be based on.
It has never changed from being a store of value, from being a currency itself that can be used for P2P transactions. Whatever has been written on the whitepaper, there's no any change at all. But it's just that the wide use of Bitcoin have been common as a store of value and with the current status of the transaction fees, it's not an ideal thing to be used for P2P transactions unless the transaction will happen off chain.

Do you think that if ever there becomes more adoption, BTC would be and able to be used for mainstream like a global money? Does the tech work enough that it could handle the global market?

why or why not?
It's possible because it's been there already. But the fees stops that optimism from the majority of us. However, there's the BTC Lightning Network but this is ideal for smaller transactions. And the exchange-wallet apps that has off chain transactions that you can use them for transfers without having any delay and fees because you're on their platform and using Bitcoin as a payment to anything that you want to purchase. It's possible with those wallets as long as you and the person you're transacting with also uses the same wallet but if you or the other party is using different wallet then you have to take the current fees even if they're expensive. But the ideal thing to do when the fees are that much is to do nothing.
