641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: With gambling, it's probably easier to quit cold turkey on: December 10, 2023, 07:11:37 PM
Could a problem gambler quit slowly and expect realistic improvements?
Yup.

There's always a resolution to matters like this. It's only about how the problem gambler will handle himself and resist gambling as much as he can. If there are friends and relatives that are willing to help him completely avoid gambling, then it's on him that they're counting to help himself as well.

Problem gamblers have different approaches and whatever works for them and gradually removes the problematic thing they've got with gambling. They need to be consistent on it and focus until the results are visible and they're finally seeing it on their own that it's actually working.
642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will you say within your limits to encourage responsible gambling? on: December 10, 2023, 05:40:02 PM
If you work as a staff member in a physical casino as a dealer or in a sports bookie, I know that there are subtle ways you can use to encourage responsible gambling that will not go against the terms and conditions for staff.

For example, suppose you encounter a gambler who has wagered $200 at the table and is currently winning $6k. Would you express to them, "Hey, you're up $6k, and you initially entered this table with $200. Walk away, Take your winnings, go!" or will you say, "It is very admirable to know when to stop"?

What will you say within your limits to encourage responsible gambling?
None, nothing. That's what I'll say because it is none of my business and scope to give them some warning if I'm just a staff. I'll just do whatever is tasked to me like assisting them with their bets or whatsoever but to give them a reminder, I'll only give them some reminder if they're doing things against the casino's policy and premises.

That's none of our business anymore but it's nice to have that someone to give some reminder to these folks. But let alone decide whether to push and continue or just walk away with whatever amount they have already. Because if not, you might even be blamed if they get bad luck. You don't know what's on the mind of these people when they gamble especially if they've been winning a lot already.

A few signs or talks and being a staff, you might get scolded for interfering with their affairs by just simply talking to them. You only talk when they talk to you, you only answer when they ask you a thing or two.

11 hours from now, we're about to see the start of the ESL Kuala Lumpur 2023. Where are you guys? Where are the Dota 2 folks here? Let's start some discussion as I cannot cover most of the updates as I only see a few and most likely none of them regarding players and updates if someone's going to play for stand in or not.

RUMOR: Tundra Esports might move to NA and will take to their wings the roster of the released TSM players which is now named, Team Undying. While I don't see yet the name replaced for Team Undying into Tundra Esports so, this is still a rumor. What do you think of it? The last team I've known Tundra is remaining only with Topson and if the entire Team Undying going to be taken over by Tundra then it's all out for Topson.

After the 2-peat achievement of Topson, despite one of the best mid laners out there and proven to be a team player. He's like a stray dog in the proscene now. It's entirely different with his former gang with the roster that he's got with OG before. Speaking of him, what team do you think still need a strong mid as him?
644  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 10, 2023, 04:23:19 PM
Someone introducing us to gambling may be unintentional
It all starts with some stories and that's the reason why a gambler is happily sharing his experiences due that there's someone who wants to listen with our wins and losses.

But there are still many cases where they are taking advantage of us. They introduce us to gambling so that they can get referral bonuses. This is deplorable.
You will spot on the person that's taking advantage of you. If you're a new gambler and someone just wants to sign you up under his referral link, this is one of the many possible reasons why he's introducing you to gambling and that's what I can think of but for sure that there are other many way of taking advantage. And if you think that you're forced to do it, just don't do it. But as a newbie and being friendly to that person who's introducing you, I guess that you'll just accept and let it happen.

But in the end, the fault is still ours. Our money and the right to decide still belong to us. If we are addicted, it is because we cannot control ourselves. What we need to do now is to find a way to escape addiction. Asking the closest person to help us is a perfect way because people with an addiction will not be able to escape their gambling addiction on their own.
I do not regret that I am into gambling and someone introduced me to it. But yes, it's all our decision and fault. If the results don't do us any good then there is no need to blame that person that introduced us but only us. Stop pinpointing fingers to others if it's about our personal lives and decisions.
645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 10, 2023, 03:29:27 PM
Big congrats to Lakers for becoming NBA in season champs but also big congrats for LeBron and his MVP win award who is well deserved in my opinion even if AD really played great during this tournament. Now , the job is done , they can actually focus on NBA games and maybe it's time to deliver a winning streak.  Cool
Congrats to the Lakers, that was a heck of a journey for them to become this in season tournament's champ. I still give credit to the Pacers for reaching this far. I think that this is the first time again for me to seen them reach this quite far. Honestly, they've got a good run and Lebron being the MVP on this in season is still showing on how this "old" man can do.

Lebron is always Lebron, age is just a number for him and a whopping $500k for his pay check. Wow! Is this also a hint that the rumored additional team could be the Las Vegas? Hmmm, I've just heard of the rumor about that and instead of Seattle Sonics, it's going to be Las Vegas - what?

Another player that's good on this game is Austin Reaves. The kid after coming from the bench was on fire. It's like that he doesn't want to go back to the bench so he did all his best. Well, if most of the bench players are going to be like him, they won't get that much rest. LOL.
646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 09, 2023, 10:43:15 PM
What to believe? Beginner's luck or the first game win trap? Let's just all enjoy gambling and let the newbies enjoy their bets whether they win or lose. I agree with the last part of what OP said about gambling only what you afford to lose. It all ends up with that story when someone wants to gamble but only with that amount that he's very fine to lose.

Let the new gamblers experience their fate with their first bets. Win or lose, let them feel the essence of feeling how it's like. Because they will be the one to determine what it is actually, if it's beginner's luck or the first game win trap. But regardless of that, we're all going to have some good moments and many losing moments so, share the joy and don't skip the fun but with proper management and control so that you won't lose a lot.  Tongue

with some statements from Yatoro that the Aegis in the TI is a scam because they're just allowed to keep it for a night and then will be taken away from them the next day.

So basically Valve reused all those aegis every year huh, kinda lame. I thought the winner would be able to keep them but honestly it just doesnt really make sense to keep them either because most team or organization got disbanded in a year or two after they got The Aegis.
Probably, I don't know about OG's story about the Aegis but it could be the same or they're able to keep it. But as we are all expecting, it's a trophy that the champions should keep forever, right? It's a plaque of their success for being the best team for the entire year. Yes, there goes the teams that disbanded after taking the aegis but Team Spirit is still intact but with just 1 changed player.

I think the matter of fact here is the authenticity that it came from Yatoro who's now a 2 time TI champion. It's just sad that the moment that should be theirs with the aegis was taken away, anyway they can just make their own plaques and trophies and display it to their salas or rooms. But I've seen collapse has a better trophy with that brand new car or it was just a photo op.
649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be enough to buy 100 dollars worth of Bitcoin every month? on: December 09, 2023, 09:17:49 AM
I'm preparing for the college entrance exam to go to college, so I can't make money from working. I get about $100 of allowance from my father every month. I use all of them to buy bitcoin because I can use father's credit card for expenses such as food, clothes. I can buy Bitcoin on a satoshi basis every month, but when I see people buying Bitcoin basis on the internet, I feel like I'm too behind myself. Maybe they have a much higher income than me because they have a job.
Other race is not your race, so make your own race-worthy and focused, and don't look at how much they accumulate. If you think that you're behind them, how about those people who are still in doubt about investing in Bitcoin and are not even aware of it? There's more with those people to discover while you, you understand a lot of things already about bitcoin and that's what makes you want to invest.

I think I can only invest $100 a month for the next year or two, would that be enough? I am worried about missing big bull market with halving and etf approval.
It doesn't matter, just do it and when you're able to buy as much as you can after your graduation or when you already have a job. Bull runs are going to be in a cycle and it's not just going to appear within the next few years. So, think of that moment that when you're not yet able to buy in bulk but soon you'll be able to. Just now, purchase what you can purchase and be well with it. There's no quick hocus pokus on buying Bitcoin as a starter and being a student, everything is understandable with your situation and at least, you're trying.
650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: December 08, 2023, 11:57:11 PM
Yeah, I remember that about Korben and still he insists about that disqualification because of the three players replacement for the roster. I don't know why he's still into it when the fact that Team Spirit was said to be taking a rest for this year and won't participate to this big tournament before this year ends.

I didn't know that there's still some point system because I thought that the entire pointing system(DPC) is going to be changed. Yes, I know that these points aren't with the DPC but with this EPT points, let's see on how teams are going to take it and for sure that there's gonna be another basis for this one.

What people are waiting for now is the Riyadh Masters that's said and rumored to have that $45M prize pool and every team is going to be crazy about it and who knows if Team Spirit is going to cash out and participate that tournament again.  Tongue
But Korben is always in my news feed, although he should calm down and relax during the upcoming New Year holidays.
Then just ignore him if you're bothered by him, hehe.  Tongue

$45 million in prize money, such a sum is mind blowing! If this is confirmed, I will fall off my chair) With such prize money from Riyadh Masters, everyone’s favorite TI will fade into the background. Money changes the location of tournaments and it seems that no one will compete with the Arab sheikhs in conquering the e-sports market. From such a large sum, several more professional teams should appear, because the stakes are very high.
Valve should give themselves a break if this is going to be another real prize pool. Because instead of the players craving to go to the TI, they're now going to focus more with the Riyadh Masters because the huge prize pool is in there and with some statements from Yatoro that the Aegis in the TI is a scam because they're just allowed to keep it for a night and then will be taken away from them the next day.

Based on the experience, the Aegis was only with Team Spirit for one night before Valve took it back, which he described as a "scam".
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: December 08, 2023, 11:42:14 PM
depends on the degree of risk and excitement. There are traders who buy only trending meme tokens and try to make capital on them, it seems to me that Shiba brought many such traders to the market and gave rise to this trend.
Shiba did really made a lot of people grow their capital and that's why it's like a domino effect that even if it's no longer that much in the trend these days. The impact that it has made to many lives are being kept even until now, there are still a lot of people hoping that shiba will still be the one remaining at the top of these meme coin pumps.

I was interested in this in 2017-18 when there were a lot of hype projects and i could make money on them without much effort, after that the excitement went away and now I prefer to buy something for a long time.
That's true, those were like the times when every project on the market becomes successful and you can make money with almost everything you invest in. But not until 2018, the bear market existed and that has made everyone lose their hope on it and maybe this time, the entire market is going to be alive again just as what we're seeing it pump again.
652  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID is dead, "long live the new COVID". World economy get ready? on: December 08, 2023, 11:07:15 PM
-snip-
There are other concerns that should be done especially in poor countries where diseases are rampant like cholera, and other epidemic that's unlikely to stop.
All parties must work together, but can some parties be trusted?
Covid which was originally a Pandemic is now transitioning into an Epidemic and this virus will still exist.

Some other epidemics such as Cholera must also be watched out for its spread, it could be an epidemic that cannot be stopped.
But when everyone has got the vaccine, it's the first protection.
That's true, COVID-19 is going to live with us forever but just not as strong as it was before. And just like those diseases that are in epidemics in some parts of the world, they're fatal as well but the WHO seems to disregard those and don't focus monitoring on them. But sadly, those that affected by those diseases and people who are living with them seem to be immune to what's with them.

And like what we're living right now together with covid-19 virus. These viruses will just flow in the air, the airborne diseases and waiting to contain another host. These days are unhealthy. We're just done with the other and there goes the others that will live with us forever. Scaring but we need to deal with the reality and we need to strengthen not just our body, minds, souls but also our pockets.
653  Economy / Economics / Re: Idea and money are very important to investment. on: December 08, 2023, 10:36:04 PM
But for rich investors, obviously they have all the edge on that matter.
They can fail with their investments as many times as they can until one of them becomes successful. That's how it usually goes when it's about the resources for being rich. They're not afraid to fail because they've got a lot of back up and they can invest with every investment they think suits their needs. That's an ideal thing for the rich people because they don't have to be problematic with money whether the investment makes or breaks.

The only problem is if they have gained the best ideas and concepts that will make any investment works.
Yes, but still they have all the advantage because they have it all for the money that they can release to any investment of their choice. Like the shark tank people, they're all investors and business people. They know how it goes to invest into a business that can make them money and they're not afraid at all to lose them all but they also know that it can be successful based on the factors that they can see from them.
654  Economy / Economics / Re: What class of an investor are you? on: December 08, 2023, 09:58:38 PM
I guess that many of us here became the Ponzi investor before we even knew that this scheme was a scam. And then from there, we started to become the research type of investor to make sure that mistake won't happen again. We don't wanna be a victim of the same scams that we've encountered before.

Beginner need more education to choose which one class of an investor in the future, but many kinds of ponzi investment make new investor interested to invest there and they less knowledge how bad with ponzi investment class.
And that's why they need to know more about the classic investments and the classic scams that are into existence. Because if they don't do, they'll fall for the same scam schemes again and again. But to remember, one time of being scammed is a lesson but second and more is being stupid and ignorant.
655  Other / Politics & Society / Re: News not true about Wars china tawain on: December 08, 2023, 09:33:28 PM
I wish that the news was false about the rumors of war with China invading and taking Taiwan as their territory. There's a long history with these two countries while China doesn't consider them as an independent country but more of their territories. They can claim whatever they think to a country that's known to many.

While it is an allied of the US, there goes the handshaking of Biden and Xi which signifies that they're now having some deals and agreements that can also stop this potential invasion of China. The problem is, if China doesn't like the movement of the other parties, they might just do on their own and just bully the allies of it. And also the neighboring countries might be in trouble and that's why they're also needing some help from its alliances knownly Russia.

But if all of these can be done in talks, hopefully all of them will result with a peace talk and just work on their economic agreements and deals.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less profit on: December 08, 2023, 08:57:49 PM
As an investor when it comes to loss or profit no one will likely say yes to loss but profit am very sure everyone's admires that.
It's because there's no one that wants to lose but all of us are into profit and this is the reason why we're investing, to make possible outcomes and make it profitable. Because if you are an investor and all you want is to get some losses, there must be something wrong or you're still at the early phase of being an investor and learning is part of it that's why it's okay to lose but other than that, no investor want to lose.

The little that comes in could be useful if you chase the bigger profit and wind up losing everything. It's a gradual process. Because many Investors have bigger dream of their own.
As you've said, it's a gradual process. And if you're chasing something like bigger profit, you may not be able to chase it. Do it naturally and do your thing in the best way that you can. There is no need to chase it, someday it's going to be the profit that shall chase you when you've mastered your craft whether it is in investing or trading.
657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: December 08, 2023, 08:14:54 PM
Everything that's too much is bad.
Once a person experience the entertainment and gaining of money in gambling its too hard to stop and crave more what it feels like.
Yes, there's the adrenaline that a gambler feels when he/she experiences the entertainment, the way of making money in gambling and that's just the start. It's not all about luck and what you are about to gain but the overall experience is what makes someone go back to gambling whether he wins by luck or not, as long as they are decides to get back on it.

If you are having a hard time stopping, you should be aware of what you are because if you can't stop yourself. Then, you're going to have a hard time managing everything that's related to gambling for yourself. Because that's how it starts when a gambler becomes addicted, whether we like it or not, there are impacts that you're not going to like. It's okay to crave and want to play but when you get into actuality, make sure that you are doing it and everything is still in control.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: December 07, 2023, 11:58:57 PM
Gambling is an activity based on chance. When gambling, we use some statistical data to get the right results, but luck always determines the outcome. Especially in dice, roulette and card games, luck is always the deciding factor.
There are classification of the games, there goes the games that don't need any stats at all as they're pure luck based and no matter how skilled you are. That's where you're going to be tested on how you can sense your luck through random spins or rolls. So basically, the decision making that you'll do here is what's going to determine how skilled you are.

Everyone says they gamble for fun, but those who have the courage to admit the truth know that gambling is an addiction.
Before going into addiction, they say that it's all for fun then there's the admission about that it's about the profit and then there goes the story and history of it. Because for them it's hard to admit that they're gambling for the money where everybody does it without the need to hide their intentions and reasons for it.

Gambling is an addiction and a way of life.
Everything that's too much is bad.
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 07, 2023, 11:32:00 PM
Does any of feel behavioral change in you based on the win/loss in gambling. Myself had experienced it, and personally I used to be happy and I used to be polite with my family members and kid whenever I am on profit. On the day of losing it changes exactly in the opposite way, even for simple things I get much anger. Particularly while giving food to kid patience is must. On winning days I let him take his own time and eat. On the losing days I used to shout at him. I'm addicted, and I want fellow gamblers to make a self analysis at regular interval and be on the safer side.
That is normal when you are on a losing streak. You become angry because who wants to get into a losing streak and you're losing always everything that you have? Anyway, what's abnormal is about your anger issues. It's normal to be upset when things to go accordingly to what you are expecting in return.

And if you've been affected with it and your anger is being transferred to the other people like in your family members. That's a wrong call though and that's why you need to manage your anger as much as you can because you'll never know what the person you're talking to and seen your anger because of gambling. You need to change and manage to control your anger whenever you gambled badly this day.

Because the impact and impression goes to you and you being a gambler that they should think that for you to be normal and lively without anger is not to gamble or else, they'll resort that gambling is giving a person angerness and that's going to give them hate not just on you but also to gambling.
660  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which currency will able to replace the $$? If 3rd world war will happen! on: December 07, 2023, 10:56:40 PM
I think the US dollar would still be the world currency even though the world war 3 comes to surface. The us dollar had served as the world currency for many years now and we are still feeling the impact and I don't think there is any county that would be ready to dump the us dollar and choose an unknown currency except it is a digital currency that is agreed by the world government to be used as mediums for exchange and the buying of goods and services.
While it's said that their economy is on the brink are they just going to let it go? Whoever triggers world war 3 means that they have to step up and do something for another purpose. It's not about invasion, it's not about terrorism, it's not about disputes but more of the economic war that we're seeing.

War today is different. Before it's more of invasion, and territory disputes but this time, a world leader, a strong country that's been on the lead for a very long time needs to do something for them to maintain their statute globally. Because if nothing is done, the other side is doing its expansion from all nearby countries and even the farthest one. Anyway, as we're discussing this, we know that what's the common on all of these factors, money and power.
