1401  Economy / Economics / Re: Government & Bitcoin on: May 08, 2015, 01:49:45 PM
The rich have to pay a lot more than the poor, that's common sense, the problem is the government fucks the weak and benefits the rich, guaranteeing everything stays the same. Tax the rich worldwide, it's the only way out from this bs.
1402  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do we pay so much when the same function can be performed by a few Satoshis on: May 08, 2015, 01:31:15 PM
I read before that theoretically the Bitcoin economy could run on a single BTC.
But in any case, having options is all that matters. We never know how far BTC will go, so x8 decimal accuracy is great. If some day BTC goes to 1 million USD per BTC, having x8 decimal accuracy will be useful.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Bitcoin still a slave of Fiat? on: May 08, 2015, 01:22:31 PM
The game changer will be being able to pay bills with BTC, once we get there then that would mean we aren't a fiat slave, until then we need fiat, ofc we also need jobs being paid in BTC directly.
1404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is NEM really that GOOD ???? on: May 07, 2015, 04:39:53 PM
Maybe, if there were like 5 alts, but really, look around, there is an endless sea of alts right now, there's basically nothing that can be done to dethrone Bitcoin, and the real alternatives are projects that don't even try to dethrone Bitcoins, so they aren't alternatives per se, just other amazing crypto projects, such as Maidsafe. Trying to come up with an new coin to compete with Bitcoin as a payment system is just silly.
1405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Critical Levels - EW analysis on: May 07, 2015, 04:37:32 PM
Small adventure towards 270-260 territory with another correction going lower than 200, then a slow ass recovery through an entire year, thats what I see right now.
1406  Economy / Speculation / Re: Awesome idea on: May 07, 2015, 04:36:24 PM
I think in the future we'll see mining done by "the internet of things". Like as Gavin said, even simple stuff like a coffee cup could generate energy to mine some Bitcoins. You get warm coffee while mining some Bitcoin. This multiplied to anything that generates heat due the mining and you end up making some decent sats for doing things you would be doing anyway.
1407  Economy / Speculation / Re: declining volatility on: May 07, 2015, 04:34:49 PM
Remade the chart. Data is USD prices from bitcoinaverage.com.

Chart is less accurate before 04-2011, since the prices are rounded to $0.01

This definitely shows and strengthens the theory of the fact we are going to have a long time to stack up on the cheap 200-300 BTC range, if now lower as double figures aren't that far fetched to think at this point.
1408  Economy / Economics / Re: One-world reserve currency inevitable and will enslave all nations? on: May 07, 2015, 04:33:42 PM
They will try to use a blockchain to keep the fiat scam perpetually going amongst the next generations, our only hope is that the next generations dont fall for the official, closed source fiatcoin of the government and use the people's coin (bitcoin).
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: What Will it Take For BTC to Reach $1000? on: May 07, 2015, 04:32:11 PM
Basically mass adoption, bigger user of daily activities, like shopping, groceries, mundane shit. Thats what raises volume. But for that to happen, we need regulations, we need time, we need people seeing clear advantages to do so, and making it a cool thing to do so as well.

If you are a visual person like me, the best way to learn is by watching videos instead of reading endless threads. One of my favorite videos for noobs:

and continue the series
1411  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet.com - Bet LIVE on Pacman vs Mayweather | sportsbook and casino on: May 06, 2015, 03:29:07 PM
Team Pacquiao frauded the Las Vegas boxing commission by not reporting the injury in purpose, just to have an excuse and force a rematch. I don't think Floyd will agree with a rematch at all.
1412  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bold statement: Next target is low ~$700s (Awaiting scream of laughter) on: May 06, 2015, 03:25:42 PM
We'll see some more hovering around the 200-300 level in the next weeks. After that we'll be reaching ~$700 (quite fast) followed by a correction to the low ~$400s. After that we'll have a boring, but stable time till mid 2016. Good for merchant adoption and inviting your friends to the party,...

This is a speculation based only on gut feeling and some minor observations.

Let the shitstorm begin!  Grin

I've been thinking this for a while. A long term 700 is reasonable, with fluctuations of 200-300, then a nice rally to 500, with a big dip, and a steady rise towards 600-700 territory.
1413  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: May 06, 2015, 03:24:01 PM
This discussion has lead to a really interesting point, actually! The replicability of Bitcoin has always been a high concern and also point of critique for many people who aren't convinced of Bitcoin's usefulness. I also believe that Bitcoin and Gold are quite similar what this is concerned, as both their scarcities could be attacked and circumvented at some point!

i agree that gold and bitcoin are quite similar, but with bitcoin you exactly know the amount that ever will be mined. not the case with gold. also important is that bitcoin has way more room for growth compared to gold.

The supply of gold is indeed uncertain but there are ways to more or less estimate the remaining earth's gold capacity, even tho is far from the mathematical exactitude guaranteed by bitcoin, but gold is still king of wealth perception.
1414  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: May 06, 2015, 03:21:38 PM
Some of the gambling opportunities are actually not that risky. For example, betting in favor of Mayweather in a fight, or betting in favor of Madrid/Barca winning a match. People make a lot of money with those. Of course usually the odds are in favor of them, so it means you need to risk more money to get better results, but it usually works, I made some cash with the last Mayweather fight.

There are rumours now saying Mayweather is going to do a re-match with Pacquiao in a year.. so maybe get another epic fight were Mayweather (if he doesnt get beaten in september which I doubt) will fight again against Manny for the 50-0.

Gambling for safe bets is a good way to make money. Im also going to put a decent amount for the september fight. And I don't think he is going to fight again after september. He hasn't addressed the rematch thing again. In fact he said their team wanted a rematch by not reporting Pac's shoulder injury.
1415  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 06, 2015, 03:19:35 PM
Bitcoin is not dead but loosing its popularity by the emergence of altcoins.

Er, what?

Which single alt has gained any mainstream press or VC investment in significant numbers recently?

There is Ripple but that's a payment system. None of the alts out there have made the slightest splash.

Yes. All alt coin beside Ripple should be considered outright fraud (pre-mining, instant mining without letting anyone know).
If there is a scam altcoin that's Ripple. It just has a more serious aura because there are people with money invested in. Other than that, if you do your research you'll know the coin is a mess and another Bitcoin wannabe destined to fail.

Are you literally brain dead? We are heading towards increased perpetual unemployment due automation:

Labelling people as idiots isnt the best demonstration of a good argument.   It seems very likely people have thought or presumed these events before, the industrial revolution was a pretty epic change to the previously mostly agrarian society which was very inefficient.   Computers change everything but it was back then that plain old steam power machines made massive differences, we'll get closer to an accurate description looking at waves of changes not the specific detail, maybe in future we'll be in awe of bio tech and how that changed everything.
In every case people adapt, was it a video here where I saw human inadequacy compared to horses and how they were replaced - human populations are not comparable to animal livestock as a simple resource and mass unemployment is not a given

Cool beans, but past performance doesn't guarantee future performance "oh see we made it in the past, we can continue having new jobs in the future". This is as far from the truth as it gets. Automation will keep replacing jobs at a faster rate than new jobs can be assimilated. Deal with the new reality.
1417  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stay away from bitcoin ! on: May 04, 2015, 11:42:48 AM
Some valid points, yes, but why so afraid to post under your real name rather than a throw away to foster discussion?
Everyone that fuds has a normal account with good reputation and high raking on the side supporting BTC. They just want to get back in at a cheaper price.
1418  Economy / Speculation / Re: Importance of HD wallets on adresses used. on: May 04, 2015, 11:41:16 AM
HD wallets do not really have much of an effect on the received address count as most people will reuse the same address. It's the outgoing transactions that will get a new change address each time but none-HD wallets do that anyway.

I think your misunderstanding HD wallets.
Honestly I still don't get it myself.

What I would like is to have an address to receive payments (for example, from a job, signature campaign, whatever) that generates new addresses automatically so it's more private. I don't know if this makes sense. Like, giving away a fixed address, but once people pay to that address, i get the coins in through new addresses so it doesn't show up on the blockchain the address i gave publicly. Hope this makes any sense.

what about having address(let's call them "super address") that can't be viewed in the blockchain? could this be possible? it sounds more feasible than your proposal

I would love the option of purposely masking (making it invisible) for certain transactions to be invisible in the blockchain, but that would defeat the principle of transparency that acts as a solution for double spending problems and whatnot..
1419  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm selling GOLD below bullion prices, but holding BITCOIN! $400 this month! on: May 04, 2015, 11:39:07 AM
Gambling is not investing. What is your strategy other than hoping btc will break 400?

There are indicators saying we are on a (long term) recovery. Short term tho, I do not expect 400+.
1420  Economy / Economics / Re: German economic conditions are holding up despite the Greek crisis on: May 04, 2015, 11:37:24 AM
In my opinion, there are three factors why the German economy is still doing very well despite all the dangers at the horizon: cheap oil, an extremely week Euro (researchers say that Germany can live with a Dollar/Euro rate of 1.6/1) and the deindustrialization of many other countries.
Germany is the equivalent of being the central bank itself of europe... everything is controlled from there, that plus the makeup unemployment rates thanks to minijobs + good welfare keeping people away from perceiving the crisis and rioting.
