1403  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the point of collateralized loans ? on: February 13, 2021, 03:22:20 PM
How can you make money from taking this type of loan ?
You mention all the costs and inputs that occur on the loan, it will happen.

Back to the question point, "income" depends, what you borrowed for.
Loans are divided into many categories.
• personal needs loans.
• investment loans etc.

Well, here are two options that can be answered, loans, if you use that money to buy Bitcoin at a low price of 1-2 months, because you sell Bitcoin when the price rises, the loan is returned, otherwise your risk.
the profit you get, you can use it again to invest, that's how to make a loan.
One more thing, if you use it for personal needs, you automatically have to look to cover the loan, without income.
Agreed you can't always make an income when loaning. First of all, when loaning crypto or any money, you are guaranteed to have a negative balance on you no matter if you have a collateral provided.
Just as Yoshie explained, you can make an income if you loan for investment reason which have a guaranteed return because if not, then you're just like gambling with no way of knowing if you lose and broke or win and multiply your earnings.
Collaterals are there for safe keeping for the borrower to make sure their money is safe in case any default has happened.
1404  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Cryptocurrencies Really Money? on: February 13, 2021, 03:00:08 PM
Everything that can serve as a medium of exchange and a measure of value is money. In these terms both cryptos and CBDCs are forms of real money.
Based on a simple google search, I've found the meaning for Currency and Money which has a lot of difference but any currency can be money but not all money can be a currency.
Currency is a medium of exchange for goods and services. In short, it's money, in the form of paper or coins, usually issued by a government and generally accepted at its face value as a method of payment.
So yes, Bitcoin and any other cryptocurrencies are money as they are accepted by its face value as a method of payment.
1405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC price VS gambling on: February 13, 2021, 01:27:24 PM
I still have a little balance in some of the gambling sites, but if I lose all of them, I don't know if I would still deposit bitcoin because the price is insanely high and so as the transaction fee.

For me, it's time to save your bitcoin now rather than spending it in gambling, if you have extra money of course you can but always consider bitcoin as the most precious asset that is not good for gambling purposes at this time.
Same, I rather invest what I have and hold until everything settles before I start gambling again in the normal way. I'm currently enjoying my funds left of various gambling sites and try to maintain and have fun. I've been doing small bets for awhile now and up until now, I have managed to profit a little and maintain on some gambling sites. Unfortunately, I have lost all my funds on one of dice gambling site which I mainly play on.
Investment and holding, for me, is the most efficient way to maintain and profit on bitcoin as of now.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UBER will start to transact with Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2021, 05:06:59 PM
Additional, what do you think lads if UBER will start to accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies for their payments and after a period of time, they will back out or stop accepting Bitcoin as the mode of payment because of some issues, like stability or price volatility.
One of the examples of this before was Steam, they started to accept Bitcoin using Bitpay, but I think after weeks or months, they stopped accepting Bitcoin.

According to the respond of the UBER CEO which I believe his stance on crypto currency his clear that he's not against crypto and he's ready to integrate as payment once the customers ask for it but he will not invest the company fund into crypto just like Tesla did which is fair because he definitely dont know how to invest in cryptocurrency but I don't see any reason for UBER to stop as payment if the issues that arise in future have nothing to do with the government.
The reason isn't about the government but rather the volatility of the price of bitcoin, Imagine riding an uber an paying the service of 10$ with bitcoin but after leaving the vehicle, the price suddenly drop, what will happen to the uber driver as the fee should be 10$.
They should also implement a wallet on their site where the can real time convert the amount of bitcoin being paid to a fiat based wallet just like "coins" wallet does. They have a separate wallet for fiat such as PHP or USD wallet and a separate wallet for BTC.
1407  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Sino dito ang naka experience ng last bull run (2017) on: February 12, 2021, 04:38:04 PM
Anyway, mas nakakaawa yung sa kakilala ko dahil naghold talaga for years and almost all ng kinita nya at wala ng value. Nakikita ko parin yung wallet address nya na hindi nagalaw yung mga coins na potential na umabot sana ng milyon milyon kung naibenta agad.
1408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you say you made money if you never actally sell your coins? on: February 12, 2021, 04:28:12 PM
I would say no. As long as you don't sell your coins, I would say you "haven't made any profit or loss". You have the same amount of coins that you had before. You bought that with specific amount of money. As long as you are holding it, if the price goes up, and you haven't sold anything, you haven't made any profit. Again, if the price goes down and you still have the same amount of coins, you haven't made any loss. If only everyone had thought the same way, no would would be panic selling when the see the price dropping (unless its a shit coin and about to crash).
You've only managed to gain profit if you have receive the money you once invested with additional value, so yes, you haven't made any profit if you only hold onto your coins as long as you want. You must sell it to made your profit.
Just like what is happening in the sneakers community, if you bought a Jordan 1 at retail for 100$ and the current price for it is now 500-1000$ then you can't say that you already profited if you haven't sold it yet. You only lost 100$.

I think the correct term for this is "Potential Profit" as you can sell your assets anytime soon and earn a profit from it.
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: In crypto everybody pay high tx fee, no matter rich or poor people on: February 12, 2021, 04:06:58 PM
I never thought that transaction fee has been percentage based because it never is. Transaction fee  may be higher if you're transacting higher amount but it has never been a percentage basis on the amount of you'd like to transact.
If you even do that, most likely it'll send in an instant but it'll also be the same if you transact with enough eth fee for a high speed transaction. Also, fee for Ethereum is depends on gas rate which can be set to high, med, or low depending on how fast you want your transaction.
1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC price VS gambling on: February 12, 2021, 03:36:09 PM
I'm basing my gambling budget via USD which is the reason I've currently stopped high stakes gambling and focuses on using most of my coins on the market and holding for the best and wait until all things is settled.
With all the things that are happening such as Elon Musk, Paypal and the rumors about Apple that will be next to invest on crypto, I don't think I'll be gambling high stakes anytime soon.
I'm currently playing small games on gambling sites and trying to enjoy and have fun with all the coins I've left on several gambling sites.
1411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does knowing your sport and teams really make you better at betting on them? on: February 12, 2021, 03:28:45 PM
Thanks for so many replies in such a short time!
Not everyone agrees that knowledge is important because some think even betting is luck-based, so knowledge doesn't matter, whereas others believe that knowing how to bet is more important than knowing the sport. That being said, there aren't many replies like that.
The majority of people here are saying that knowledge is important, but they justify it rationally rather than by appealing to experience. I agree that it seems on the theoretical level that knowledge is very useful, but I wanted to hear more about your personal betting experience and whether it confirms this notion. Some did mention experience, but it's mainly about some particular bets they remembered, on something based on the analysis of a bunch of predictions.
And I do agree with what many pointed out about knowing the sport not being enough to become good at betting, but that's a separate question worthy of a different discussion.
~snip~
Let me share my experience on betting on an Esport event. I know Esport and sport are two different things but they mostly have some similarities on the gambling side. When gambling into these kinds of event, there are many factors that we should consider that will help us win. The main one being familiar to the sport and players that will play on the event. Players statistics matters a lot as not everyone on a team is the best and it's better knowing who and when they'll play. Another factor is the gambling experience of the bettor, but most of the time this can be ignored as there are initial percentage of who's likely to win on a match or game.
So for me, sports and esports gambling can be mostly based on the statistics of the players, the team playing and knowing the sport as whole.

Thank you for this wonderful event and I have been winning 5000 sats for at least five times now. I tried using the first 5000 sats for gambling and as expected I've only lost my free sats. Right now, my goal is to buy all my winnings from wheel of fortune to FUN tokens and hope for the best on the long run.
Seeing that I had around 20k reward points(thanks to the Wheel of Fortune mainly), I decided to use this feature this week

I have 3,572 tickets currently, but I'm not done yet Smiley Still have 17,225 RP, so if I'm not winning this time, I'll do the same next week.

If I remeber correctly, my win chance was never so high

normally it's less than 0.01%.

Wish me luck, guys! I want to win in that lottery finally. Smiley

Already 3572 lottery tickets, not bad! I have 46 tickets (thanks to the Wheel of Fortune), so also hope to be lucky this time  Grin.
Did you already place some new bets on the bitcoin/ethereum price for february?
You can too gain more and more tickets if you're goal is to win the lottery and soon I'll also do what he does using those RP. I've been saving my RP and I will all use them mainly for the ticket bonus and satoshi bonuses. I currently have 13,658RP mainly because of wheel of fortune.

1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we get another golden oppurtunity to buy? on: February 11, 2021, 04:36:27 PM
Like many bitcoiners im one of the people who didnt bought bitcoin at 6000$ or even 15k or 20k$ and i wonder if its possible to see bitcoin in at least 20k again
If no should i buy now or wait more to get lower price ?
Obviously wait for the price to get lower, everybody is getting FOMO for what happened in bitcoin. As long as you didn't lose anything, you can chill out and wait for the price to go deeper. Be wary of correction, anytime it can happen and the worst situation is when you buy bitcoin, it might occur, you'll instantly lose a lot. From 42k usd to 47k usd, can't believe what's happening right now to bitcoin, don't know if the bull run still continues or this is might be an elon musk effect. If you want to play safe, the answer is to wait but if you're getting excited and want to buy, just remember that there's a huge risk, everything can be gone in just a minute.
But that's the thing, it's hard to predict when or the price correction will ever happen. With all of the new things that keeps on coming to bitcoin such as Covid, Bitcoin Halving, and right now the massive support bitcoin keeps on getting. Elon musk news shock the market but not only that but also Paypal news affected the market of bitcoin. There are even speculation that Apple's next with implementing bitcoin and investing on it.
With all of this, it's to see if the price correction will ever happen as the support from major companies that we are  getting is too massive and I don't think they'll want to lose their investment and see a price decline anytime soon.

1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin anonymous? on: February 11, 2021, 02:41:49 PM
I never thought about this. Will this anonymity affect the safety of the money there?
Yes and No.
No, because the anonymity of you gain from the crypto doesn't affect the safety of your money or crypto, bitcoin or ethereum.
Yes, because if your identity has been compromised then so is your wallet as criminals can directly find you and take the crypto out of you.

Bitcoin isn't anonymous rather the transaction and user's identity is safe as anyone can improve their security to even further the safety of your identity and anonymity.
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla buys $1.5 billion in Bitcoin on: February 11, 2021, 11:46:35 AM
This season has begun, thanks to Ilon Musk! After the news about PayPal, bitcoin overcame the last ATH... Now Tesla has made a new ATH! Wink
And it's all thanks to one man! What can be when other companies start supporting it! Grin

It was PayPal which caused a 300% spike in the prices. The impact from Tesla purchase is not yet visible. But that is not surprising. The rally that resulted from PayPal was not instantaneous. It was spread out over three months, although there was a sharp spike on the first day when the news first came out. I expect the same thing to happen with Tesla as well. The rally from Tesla will be spread out over several months.
I really hope that it will work out just as you've said because with that we may be able to see bitcoin at a stable price at 40k+$ range and will stay that way for a long time due to how much the wall these investors are providing. I too thought that Elon Musk was the cause why we reached the new ATH of 48k$. If that really is the case we may not be able to see the price correction that most of us are waiting and aware of as the price correction that may happen is already happening.

Anyway, it's a good thing that major companies are already implementing bitcoin on their payment system and many other companies are also considering bitcoin and other crypto. We are now halfway to how we imagine bitcoin being the future will be.
1419  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: February 11, 2021, 10:58:20 AM
Cash is very difficult to trace, do you know the huge amount of money that is being stolen everyday and also the vast amount of drug money that is being laundered everyday, very huge. If you have a dirty money, there are process to use to make it clean and this has been happening for years unlike Crypto that is just 10 years  and with better tracking technology, most of these Crypto can easily be traced unlike Fiat
Cash is the very basic currency where anyone can access to which is also the reason why most of the criminals depends on it instead of crypto. Anyway, not just because that most of the transaction of crypto can be tracked is the reason why criminals don't widely used them. Crypto transaction tracking can be easily avoided through many ways such as mixing it which makes it harder for anyone to track the source and wallet it will be sent to. Rather for me the main reason why criminals prefer cash over crypto is due to the additional hassle it gives off and cashing it out tons of bitcoin would be too much of a trouble.
1420  Local / Pilipinas / Re: (BSP warning) illegal online gambling on: February 11, 2021, 10:36:44 AM
