With profit splitting miner I'm getting my reward at the same moment as the owner of hardware.

I think it's fine as long as the fee isn't too big and it's clearly stated and proven in the source code...Problem is, yeah, sharing the source code would make this pointless.
Well, Smelter can be audited even without source code. There is no extra network connections, all generated blocks can be seen in the block explorer, wallet debug log can be examined. Good idea would be to run it in restricted environment with empty wallet without any funds.

Right, good call...at least for solo mining it should be easy to monitor it.
I'll give it a shot as soon as I get a proper gpu again mate.
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Preview] Smelter - GPU miner for Quark-based coins on: October 16, 2013, 01:55:08 PM
The author can still accept donations and offer early access to donors, like what the author of XPM GPU miner did.

With profit splitting miner I'm getting my reward at the same moment as the owner of hardware. I'd be happy to take preorders/grants/donations in advance, but it's really, really bad idea. Just take a look here:

1423  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy 1 &2 SOLDOUT) AVAIL 1 KNC SATURN [200GHs Miner] Day 1 Deliver on: October 16, 2013, 12:16:04 PM
I was thinking, it might be best to payout everytime we get close to 9-10 BTC.  If we send a lot of small payments, we'll run into a lot of transaction fees.  So next payment will probably be about a week and a day or so.

Transaction fees are not much, but they add up...
Chuck, you got pm bro.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Preview] Smelter - GPU miner for Quark-based coins on: October 15, 2013, 07:31:23 PM
This should help the coins...xpm needs this as well.
Props for making this op.
1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Radeon R9 280X - new Mantle API - higher performance ? on: October 15, 2013, 07:28:04 PM
7970 giga,sapphire,powercolor,his,asus..all of them can run with I13..and with edited bios Smiley)

How did you edit it? I couldn't figure out how to improve mining speeds on my giga cards.
Using the tpu editor right? WHat values?
Which bios version do you have

I don't have it anymore but it was a rev 1.0 unlocked Gigabyte Windforce OC 7970...and before I had a HIS IceQ X2 7950 without boost.
Tried many bios flashes and it never got better.
Never tried 8191 for tc, always used 8192 or higher xD, and got hw or lower perf when doing more than i 13 (despite the high tc and available system ram ->8gb ddr3)

If you use -g 2 (gpu-threads 2) then anything over intensity of 13 will HW error. If you want to use higher intensities of 18-20 use 1 gpu thread and a high thread concurrency.

I know, I've tried both, and understand the process...but don't get why that card sucked so bad at mining scrypt.

That fucking name: Beeeeeer
I can't even remember the number of E's in it...

5

of course they chose 5 E's
5 is a prime number, the only one ending in 5....
magic

yay! :p

I really like that pool...the frontend and stats are currently down but I've had a great experience mining there so far.
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AMD R9 290X? on: October 14, 2013, 07:30:25 PM
Either way, nobody is going to buy a $600 card for 1Mh/s, so I'm really not in great anticipation

Maybe if power is a concern and they really improve on that front...say 300w for 1mh/s, it won't be so bad.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: October 14, 2013, 07:16:27 AM
Could someone post comparative numbers on the amount of yac minable compared to XPM per day on the same cpu.

I mined yac at the start, I've got like 10k, but back then they were worth like 4BTC, and now....

Anyways I was considering switching back but wasn't sure which was more profitable.

At one point, someone paid 10,000 BTC's for a pizza  Wink    It's all about where YAC will be in the future.

Ofc...I still mine yac from time to time, but mainly collect PoS atm.
1432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: October 13, 2013, 02:45:19 PM
Hey guys!

New to Primecoin and was wondering if you guys could help me get started. I'm mining away at ypool and was trying to get my wallet set up, but I cant seem to get it to sync. Are there certain things I need in the conf? It seems to me like this coin is a little different then most alt-coins.

Thanks!

What kind of gear do you have? I'd suggest you try all three pools to figure out which is best for you.
There's beeeeer.org and a chinese one AFAIK.
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AMD R9 290X? on: October 13, 2013, 02:43:54 PM
I saw someone posted this to another site

R9 280X
740    KH/s
300    Watts
1100    Core
1500    Memory
cgminer 3.5.0
Gigabyte GV-R928XOC-3GD
"-w 256 -g 2 -I 13 --shaders 2048" / Windows 7, 1.15v - not locked, 78C, 015.039.000.001 firmware version

Thanks for the info, looks like the hash is almost the same as HD 7970. Have to wait for R9 290X now.. few more days

I get 550khash with these settings :O ?

I've tried lots of things and bioses, and drivers with my former 7970 and had similar results. Had to clock it to 1053/1850 to get to 620kh/s :/

Are you guys doing it right? In term of thread count and other settings. Because you should be getting 630 at stock clock and about 750 overclocked.

Too bad I don't have one and I can't really test it myself.

I did everything I could do, researched a whole lot and even helped others achieve good results with their gpus over at overclock.net but couldn't get my gpu to mine properly. I never had an issue with my former 6950, nor my 7950. (which wasn't the best miner but still pulled over 600kh/s without so much hassle)

Trying to figure out what card to get next, I'll probably order next month.

I think XPM is more profitable, but you can always dedicate a core to pos minting like I do.

Is the OCZ ZX series okay then?

Those kinda suck...not bad but not brilliant.
XFX psus are all Seasonic inside and cheap, NZXT Hale series, Fortron FSP Aurum, Corsair AX series (not i)...Seasonic psus obviously.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AMD R9 290X? on: October 10, 2013, 09:17:56 PM
Guys,
everything is rebrand exept the R9 290X
HD7970 = 280X
HD7850 = 270X
HD7770 = 260X
The 260X is similar to a 7790 iirc, but with "true audio". It's not a rebranding.

Quote
So, The R9 290 boasts 2,560 stream processors, the current top model, HD7970 has 2048.

Simple math tells us that the 290X should have around 20% better results than a 7970.

So lets say a HD7970 gets to 750Kh/s, a R9 290X should get around 900Kh/s.
The 290 series have 512 bit bus and the 290X has 2816 stream processors. So, we'll be looking at 1Mh/s

That's what I thought, 1mh/s for 250w sounds good to me. But too expensive at launch...650usd, yikes.

They were probably safeguards/margins in case some terminals did not work. In any case, no one promised 6 ports. I expect to be able to upgrade Saturn to Jupiter, but not further.
AHEM! This photo is what they describe as their controller board and you see 1 2 3 4 5 6
 https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-39
Yes, you see them on a picture describing the slogan. It does not say anywhere that all 6 will be in use.

I am more worried about those capacitors. Everything else seems like nitpicking.
So you don't care if they sell 7000 Jupiters in China in the next month or two? Maybe in China they have another bitcoin, unrelated to the one you mine?

KNC promised to take care of the customers who gave them a free loan of millions to start their business. This ^ does not do that.

lol...sad but true.
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 09, 2013, 09:27:41 PM
4. How come on the controller board there are 6 terminals, but shipped miners are only being shipped with 4 in place?

Sounds like the Jupiters can possibly be upgraded to 800GH+ with two more cards.  No room in the case though.
Not any more. They only ship with 4.

It's not a problem making/buying a bigger case.

I would like to know why only 4. KNC not going to support upgrades for their loyal customers?

Over to obama for the detailed answers.

Upgrades sound like a great idea...
