1461  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: April 07, 2021, 12:15:14 PM
^^^^ Virus undergoes mutation, once it is inside the human body. The pandemic is going on for almost one and half years now and so we can expect new strains emerging. And many of these strains will be more contagious and lethal. The largest number of these virus strains have been reported from countries such as Brazil and South Africa, which mismanaged the COVID 19 crisis. Now because of their mismanagement, the entire world is suffering.

And the most worrying aspect is that now Asia is also getting severely impacted. During earlier waves, the most severe impact was restricted to Europe and Americas.
1462  Economy / Economics / Re: The total value of the crypto currency market is near $2 trillion on: April 07, 2021, 12:05:37 PM
As more people see the potential of decentralization, more will probably be joining this great technology. This trend will probably go for years to follow and probably be reaching 100's of Trillions.
You don't know what you are talking about when you said 100s of trillions because that is quitely close to impossible,  just because bitcoin is growing and it is becoming more popular among the capitalist circles doesn't mean that it will reach 100 trillion, give me one company that has that market cap and I might retract my words.

You don't need to respond to noobs posting baseless assumptions. I am getting quite impatient, as the $2 trillion market cap is not yet breached. After $60,000 per coin level for Bitcoin, this is going to be the next major milestone for cryptocurrency. But at the same time, I am not feeling very excited, as I have noticed that some of the shitcoins are also going up due to the overall hype that was created.
1463  Economy / Economics / Re: Janet Yellen to call for unified global corporate tax rate on: April 07, 2021, 11:53:16 AM
Yellen seems to have lost her sanity, which is not very surprising given her advanced age. Biden should be careful in selecting these 70 plus and 80 plus people for key posts, as they may not be having mental capability to make important decisions. The demand that other nations should also raise the corporate tax is not just ridiculous, but laughable as well. Why should foreign nations align their tax rates with that of the United States?
1464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 07, 2021, 11:42:12 AM
Very poor show from Pakistani middle order batsmen. At one time they were 200/1 and then sweet collapse, one more time! I was expecting minimum 350 score and easy peasy game for them.

Hasan Ali showing off his power hitting, 4 big sixes. Finally they crossed the 300 mark and 1 over left.

----
Nice recovery, they added 43 runs in last 12 balls. Thanks to Hasan Ali.

I wasn't expecting such an innings from Hasan Ali. He literally dragged Pakistan over the 300 mark. Feels bad for Babar Azam, who missed his century by a few meters (he was caught by Verreyne near the boundary rope). It is going to be challenging for South Africa. The Pakistani pacers are in very good form, and scoring at a rate of 6.40 runs per over is never going to be easy. Right now, it looks like an advantage for Pakistan, to win the ODI series.
1465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 06, 2021, 06:46:57 PM
There is trouble even before the IPL is started. A COVID 19 positive case has been reported from the biosecure bubble of Mumbai Indians. Former Indian international Kiran More (who is currently part of the coaching staff for MI) has tested positive for COVID. I don't know how someone can have a positive test inside the bubble. Because individuals are placed inside the bubble after multiple negative tests.
Everyone will have to test the coronavirus again. If someone in the team is not positive, the team's matches will be postponed. In India, corona is now taking horrible forms. I think for Coronavirus some matches will be posponed. This season's IPL may not end on time.

Today there is another daily record, with more than 115,000 testing positive for the virus. In Mumbai alone more than 10,000 positive cases were reported today. In other metro cities also, the number of new cases are just exploding. More than 4,000 in Bangalore, while Delhi has reported 5,000 plus. I won't be that surprised, in case the IPL is postponed. The situation in India is really getting bad. Reminds me of the first wave that we had in September 2020 (even then, the daily numbers never crossed 100,000).
1466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Joining OPEN] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 06, 2021, 06:00:41 PM
I don’t mind the fee although it’s almost 2x than last time. Apart from the fee, the cricket playing nations & popularity of cricket is also another factor toward the small amount of participants I guess. There are pools for soccer where the number of participants is quite high.
If the fee was a bit lower or same as we had last time, maybe we would get some more participants.
I'm too lazy to send the fee. Will do it sooner.

In terms of fiat, it may be 2x when compared to last time. But in terms of BTC, it is 2.5x lower. But for a tournament that lasts two months, is this is large amount? $25 is like the minimum amount which you can deposit in many of the gambling sites. I am quite disappointed with the response from other users, after the amazing success we had in 2020. Also, feels bad for Royse777 who spent a lot of time and effort to organize this pool.
1467  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the age demographic here? on: April 06, 2021, 05:37:13 PM
When I first invested in Bitcoin (back in 2017), I was in my twenties. But now I am in my thirties.  Grin The guy who introduced me to the world of cryptocurrency is also in his thirties now. in my friend circle, among the cryptocurrency users all of them are aged between 20 and 40 (with those in twenties constituting for more than three-fourths). Also, the gender ration is extremely skewed, with more than 90% being male. I tried to get some of my female friends and relatives interested in cryptocurrency, but the response ranged from indifference to outright hostility.
1468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal created crypto checkout service!! on: April 06, 2021, 04:30:02 PM
Centralized exchanges voids the anonymity but Paypal stealing the crypto access itself, because no withdrawal or send option is available for the cryptos purchased using Paypal so they are having the access to the funds which is also limited should not be encouraged in the long term goals.

From what I have heard, PayPal will enable withdrawals to third party wallets in a few months. It doesn't make much difference for ordinary people who want to invest small amounts such as $100 or $200 in Bitcoin. They will purchase their coins using PayPal and then when the time comes they will sell their coins there and withdraw the amount in USD or any other fiat currency. Obviously for experienced cryptocurrency users, that is an unsatisfactory proposition.
1469  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19, Lockdown and repercussions on: April 06, 2021, 04:22:23 PM
I might have to be a little bit thankful that this kind of situation didn't happen in my country, the problem in my country though is the people that hoards like Smaug of the essential items but other than that, the situation in my country and yours isn't that different, people from provinces got caught in the lockdown in cities focing them to walk or if they are lucky, get to hitch a ride from a government transport but that one is unlikely to happen.

In most of the countries, the lockdown was imposed in a phased manner and that gave migrants enough time to make the travel arrangements. However in India, the lockdown was imposed all of a sudden and that made it very difficult for most people to make travel arrangements, or to stock up essential items. Anyway, I am glad that there were not many human casualties despite the fact that the restrictions were imposed in a haphazard manner.
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I tried to tell him just HODL bitcoin, don't make this hard. on: April 06, 2021, 01:29:35 PM
People who aren't day traders and are not familiar with how pump and dumps work should never touch any altcoins ever, it will end in misery for them if they are lucky! Otherwise they lose all their life savings in the altcoins market to these pump and dumps.
Looking back at the past 3 years, ever since 2017 all the altcoins have been dumping consistently. Holding them is obviously foolish. They are made to day trade.

As for bitcoin, those who don't want to learn from the history and without using their head make statements like "it is old" shouldn't enter bitcoin world at all, specially if they think bitcoin is old while buying a shitcoin!

To this date, close to 10,000 different altcoins have been created and out of that more than 90% are either dead or dormant by now. These coins had their 2 seconds of fame, when they went up in pump-and-dump cycles. There are a few users who ended up in profit, by purchasing these coins at low prices and selling them during pumps. But in 99% of the cases, it was the promoters who profited from these coins. Ordinary users almost never benefited from these altcoins.
1471  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-03-03 Coindesk - Warren Says Yellen Left No Room for Ambiguity on: April 06, 2021, 01:07:34 PM
Hopefully not another 20 years. :-)  I think it primarily depends on uptake.  With taproot, tapscript etc, the rate of usage could increase dramatically quite quickly given the potential uses for defi etc.

If cryptocurrency survives for another 20 years, then it will dominate the global economy. Already the applications such as DeFi and NFT are creating a lot of hype in the investment circles. The sector is worth $2 trillion right now and I expect that to increase to $10-20 trillion in the next 5 years. When I invested in cryptocurrency for the first time in 2017, I never expected it to grow this big. The growth is beyond our expectations and it will stay the same way for the next 5-10 years as well.
1472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to sell my BTC? on: April 06, 2021, 12:29:35 PM
It is a good time to take profits but if you do it and the market rises to $90000 you will have made a very bad choice, a lot of institutional investment is waiting for the price to rise, you have to take into account your need to withdraw some profits, the news that are dating are positive.

Right now the problem is that everyone expects Bitcoin to rise. But let's not forget the fact that the prices have already rallied by 500% during the last 6 months. Till now, we didn't had a major correction. I would naturally expect a major correction, when the prices rise by this much in such a short duration. That's the reason why I posted that selling a part of your coins won't be a really bad idea right now.
1473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin better than Fiat? on: April 06, 2021, 12:00:10 PM
For ordinary usage, here is a comparison between Fiat currency and Bitcoin:

Bitcoin preferred over fiat currency:
1. For making online payments involving large amounts, where instant confirmation is not required
2. Cross border payments
3. Remittance payments
4. Foreign currency conversions
5. Gambling payments (in countries where gambling is banned)

Fiat currency preferred over BTC:
1. Anonymous payments using physical cash
2. Instant payments
3. Payments involving smaller amounts
4. Tax payments and other government dues
5. Bank deposits and withdrawals
1474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Life After 10 years in Bitcoin... on: April 06, 2021, 11:49:22 AM
I remember back 2017 when I bought my first bitcoin for $5,000 after I earned in a crypto project and then later sell it at a price of $13,000, and so yeah I made some profit there. Got involve in a lot of crypto projects, earned a lot, and I didn't invested again in bitcoin. I got afraid when bitcoin price starts crashing so I pulled out my investment and tried to invest on other things outside bitcoin and cryptos. And that was a big mistake on my part.

But now I already bought again some bitcoin and trying to hold till price reaches $100k. I don't know when will it happen or if it's gonna happen, all I know is that I learned from my mistake and that is not going to happened again. I can't say my life 10 years from now, I have no idea, but I know it's going to be amazing.

2017 was the year when I got my first BTC. But I purchased the coins in January, when the prices were quite low ($900 per coin). And back then I got BTC2.40 in my wallet after spending around $2300 (including markup in Localbitcoins). And at that point, the investment represented close to 10% of my net worth. A lot of people were angry at me, for investing so much money in a high-risk asset. But the same people now want me to give advice to them regarding cryptocurrency investment.
1475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Joining OPEN] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 06, 2021, 11:22:20 AM
Though $25usd is considered as poverty level in my country, But I think if the entry fee was the same as last year, we would get some more participants.
Moreover, many people do not know about this pool yet,
For those who have vacant signature space or personal text space, there would have been some publicity If they had added the name of our pool to their vacant space.

By the way, I confirm that #SwordsRex is me.

A lot of us are participating in various signature campaigns and we earn more than this amount in one week. Last time also, the fee was kept at BTC0.001 (this time it was actually reduced to BTC0.0004). Personally I thought that last time it was extremely beneficial for the participants. The entry fee constituted just around 20% of the pool, while the remaining 80% came from the sponsors. I haven't seen any other pool here in this forum, which was so lop-sided towards the participants. Given this, I actually expected a 2x increase in the participants for this year's pool.
1476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 06, 2021, 11:12:50 AM
A T20 series between Namibia and Uganda is taking place at Windhoek (Namibia). The hosts whitewashed the visitors by 3-0. I am interested in this series, because unlike the case with many of the other associate nations, both these teams are comprised mostly of citizens belonging to these nations. Next is the ODI series scheduled between these two teams, comprised of two matches.

Three days to go for the first match in IPL 2021, which will be played between Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.  Grin
1477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Joining OPEN] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 06, 2021, 11:02:33 AM
I just joined the pool at Superbru. I can see 5 other participants (roysesuper, kpk333, famLFC, Little Mouse and SwordsRex). Feels nostalgic to be part of the IPL pool once more. Last time I had a good tournament, as I was able to win two rounds. And I hope that before the tournament we will witness the participation of more users. And I am looking forward to last year's champion ShashiRaJaVu.
1478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: April 05, 2021, 06:43:36 PM
after they have a good president, the standard of the Filipinos has been uplifted and they now have a high expectation, higher than the capability of the current president and I guess whoever the current president will endorse will win.

Well.. I have heard about Duterte and I know that he has insanely high approval ratings. But Manny is just 42 years old. What if he is planning to run for the post of president after 5, 10 or even 15 years? Rodrigo Duterte is 76 years old and I don't think that he will remain in office for very long. He has already completed five years in office and I would say that he is not going to stay as president after 2026. By then Pacquiao will be 47 years and he will be having enough experience in the field of politics as senator.
1479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: April 05, 2021, 05:34:19 PM
I also recommend btc for holding. Big company starting to invest in btc. I think, They not publish their investing news to publicly everytime. Lot of companies starting to invest in btc, People inspired to invest in btc from them. It’s will be a major reason of btc pump.

Listed companies need to publish the details of their investments, in a monthly or quarterly basis. However, private companies are not required by the law to do so. So if some of the companies that are not traded in the stock market are purchasing or accumulating Bitcoins, then we may never know about it (that is unless these companies themselves reveal their holdings). That said, I believe that the next pump will be caused by individual investors from the United States, and not by institutional investors.
1480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About 20% of all Bitcoin (BTC) in circulation was lost – Study shows on: April 05, 2021, 05:19:56 PM
In 2015, I lost exactly 0.08 btc to my disbelief. I never believed in backups and did not think that my bitcoins would be lost with the slightest mistake.
My Windows was removed from the system that year and my wallet was completely destroyed. I even called support and ... but it was useless.
But the figures shown on these sites are not accurate and they are all approximate i believe that this number is less than what actually happened.

Don't worry.. it happens to everyone.. at least you were holding coins from 2015, when the prices were really low. The exchange rate was around $250 per coin back then. I purchased my first BTC in 2017, and by then the price had increased to $900. And a few months later, it had further increased by 22x. I won't be much surprised if the proportion of lost coins is much higher. Because people lose small amounts every now and then, and they hardly mention about it. Adding all together, we may get a figure that is much higher than 20%.
