This is different.
CSA and BCCI has unwritten and sometime written contract with each others, it applies to every cricketing nation who deal with the BCCI. CSA already decided to release their players, that's why players participated in the auction but this Pakistan tour came out of nowhere, it was unscheduled series because Australia was suppose to visit the South Africa but they declined due to covid then CSA and PCB decided to tour each other just to help each other out and considering T-20 WC is coming and India has hosting rights so i think its a good opportunity to play some pressure game in the IPL.

These are like the best players for South Africa and especially the departure of Nortje is going to severely weaken them. He was the one who gave the South Africans crucial breakthroughs during the first and second ODIs. Also, Rabada is perhaps the best depth bowler South Africa having right now. So I guess the responsibility will fall in to the hands of inexperienced pacers such as Andile Phehlukwayo.

Yeah, bowling department took a hit there. 2 Batting replacements shouldn't be that tough to fill tho, Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram are still there so they should be okay as far as batting is concern IMO

Batting looks OK, but if de Kock and du Plessis (not sure about whether the latter is leaving or not) is not playing, then it will be a big blow for the South Africans. De Kock was the wicket keeper as well and the South Africans will be forced to field a full-time keeper in order to replace him. But the biggest blow is going to be that of Nortje. Effectively he was the mastermind behind the South African victory in the second match.

^^ Bad news for Proteas batting line up. Rassie van der Dussen is out from the team due to muscle strain, now winning the series should be easy for Pakistan. My money is on Pakistan and i hope they don't mess their chances against the rookie team.

Form what I can see, the absence of Anrich Nortje is showing in the match. Pakistan has made a total of almost 200 with the loss of just one wicket (that of Imam-ul-Haq). Their best two batsmen are at the crease now (Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam). Previously it was Nortje who gave them crucial breakthroughs, but this time the bowlers are unable to break the partnership between these two Pakistanis. Lutho Sipamla is like an eternal failure, and they keep giving him one chance after the other.

I wasn't expecting such an innings from Hasan Ali. He literally dragged Pakistan over the 300 mark. Feels bad for Babar Azam, who missed his century by a few meters (he was caught by Verreyne near the boundary rope). It is going to be challenging for South Africa. The Pakistani pacers are in very good form, and scoring at a rate of 6.40 runs per over is never going to be easy. Right now, it looks like an advantage for Pakistan, to win the ODI series.

I thought about betting today as most of the South African players left the team for the IPL but i do not trust Pakistan as they always surprises us with their approach. The middle order is a mess throughout this tournament and their openers are solid now and Babar Azam is their bankable player but they need consistency from Mohammad Rizwan and need to find players to strengthen their middle order .

The match will go in either direction depending how Pakistan can break the partnership but i expect Pakistan could win the match and the series.

Janneman Malan and Temba Bavuma are batting right now and the partnership between the two is worth 49 runs. The 5th bowler slot seems to be problematic for Pakistan, as Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz are unable to keep the pressure on South African batsmen. The problem for the Proteas is that their tail is too long, and starts with Andile Phehlukwayo at no.7.

SA at the moment are doing okay, after losing 2 wickets they have scored 126 runs. They need a good inning from one of their batsmen in order to win this match. The asking run rate is 7.23 which is pretty much okay they can easily get it. The problem is wickets and they also need a good partnership if they want to win this match and the series. Overall Pakistan is in a good position and the chances of them winning this match is good.

I think South Africa is finished. Heinrich Klaasen just got out and that leaves them at 140/5. Kyle Verreynne is still batting, but the required run rate has shot past 8 runs per over and the remaining players are lower order or tail end. Mohammad Nawaz came back very strongly by taking 3 extremely important wickets. This is going to be such a huge achievement for Pakistan. They have managed to win an away ODI series, and that too against one of the stronger teams.

Right now 248/6 with 43.4 overs mean now its end for South Africa last partnership done some good and solid work for home team but Haris Rauf take very crucial wicket of  Verreynne which bring them back in this match and series, now required 72 runs in just 36 balls Phehlukwayo and Maharaj on but they are out of this game very good series win for Pakistan against South Africa hopefully now they can win twnety/20 series as well home team lost few key players which is good benefit for them.

Pakistan may win this match but do you think they played well with so many things in their favor  
If these South Africa players were in the team, they would have lost the match. They may and should enjoy the victory but they need to realize they still require a lot of improvement.

And the Pakistani bowlers did well this time (unlike previous several occasions) to keep their cool. Who knows? If players like Nortje and de Kock was available, then South Africa could have probably won this game. But in the end, Pakistan proved to be the better team out of the two.

But, late fightbacks are not working in South Africa way. They just lost the series itself by losing this match. I was confident enough on South Africa to win this match so that they will lift the cup but it seems there is no home advantage for them as Centurion pitch is not as flat as how it was on the 1st ODI of this series.

I really feel bad for Temba Bavuma for losing his first series as captain and that too on home conditions itself. Now I just realize that South Africa might have lost the 2nd match as well if not Quinton de Kock tricked and run out Fakhar Zaman.

There were a few negatives, such as over-dependance on Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman in the batting department and the poor performance of the middle order, but overall the team performed really well. South Africa is no longer considered as one of the top teams in international cricket, but it can be quite tough to beat them when they have the home advantage. Credit should also be given to the Pakistani pace bowlers, for their exceptional performance.

@bryant.coleman South Africa looks like a side that has left it glory days behind it, and if they do not make efforts to solve their issues then I fear that they’ll never be able to play and win like they used to do in the past. Furthermore I agree with the view that Pakistan bowlers dominated this match, and if Pakistan keeps on playing like this then in the long run they’ll cause lots of problems for the top 3 teams.

Pakistan won well deserve series and have better spot in World Cricket League with very young and talented players against South Africa many thoughts and talks about this all, but I am feeling now Protease losing their best time like West Indies just because of quota system and too much involvement of politics, if they fail to bring some better system then surely they are going to be more poor like Zimbabwe and West Indies.
