1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you choose cryptocurrency as full time job? on: October 14, 2022, 11:09:31 PM
There are a lot of freelancers in this forum, and each day born new crypto projects, so, there are a lot of business opportunity on the cryptos.

Personally i have been working for cryptos project since 2014, and what i say is the best part of this is that cryptos doesn't have frontiers, it's great to be able to work with people from all around the globe.

So, answering your question, i would say yes, people can choose that option.

1603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What efforts have you made to raise bitcoin awareness in your community? on: October 14, 2022, 06:16:14 PM
None, to be honest.

I don't want anyone to know that I have Bitcoin, and only the people close to me who I would trust with my life know. Everyone else, when the subject comes up, I get interested in it and ask questions as if I don't know much. It's funny because there are more than one who goes as an expert because he has read two things and has no idea.

That's a good point and is complex for the bitcoin users. In one hand we want everyone to know about bitcoin, but in the other hand we want to stay under a low profile.

I think the best way to promote bitcoin is telling about it to our close friends and family, and let the words spread from person to person. And with time, those who get interested will stay.
1604  Economy / Gambling / Re: [How-To] Make a provably fair giveaway ✅ on: October 14, 2022, 01:36:01 PM
...
Imho this is an imperfect solution since a "host" with bad intention can also tell "a friend" (or his alt) what is the number he chose for the winner.
I think that a method/algorithm where the host also doesn't know from start what will be the winning number is much better.

You have a good point here and this is why some people use future block hash as part of the equation. And this way even if the organizer tell de secret seed to a friend it will be impossible to cheat.

I didn't add that to my steps because i want to make it simple and teach how the encryption helps to make things provably fair or the most simple way.  Wink
1605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 13, 2022, 09:45:02 PM
Well, right now the poll is 50/50. And both sides have good arguments for their decisions.

The amount of the prize is influencing a lot this decision because 0.05BTC is a good amount to walk away, maybe if the prize amount were irrelevant or low we would see more people choosing the Reroll option.

Thanks for all those who vote, lets see if the result changes in the next hours.

1608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 13, 2022, 01:45:28 PM
Let's say you join a give away with other user and both have to select a number between 1 and 10, you go for 7 while he goes for 9. The winning number is 8.

If the prize is 0.1BTC what would you do? Split the prize and walk away with 0.05 or Reroll to gamble for the full prize?
1609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About the future of bitcoin - What are you worried about? on: October 12, 2022, 09:22:26 PM
experimental software and beta software are two different things, I wouldn't say bitcoin is beta software because right now we are in the core version 23.0. We could say the first versions was the beta software, but right now bitcoin has a really solid base.
1610  Economy / Gambling / Re: [How-To] Make a provably fair giveaway ✅ on: October 12, 2022, 07:44:54 PM
I am not expert at something like this but is this for gamblers wbo wanted to check the casino if they really are provably fair when it comes to their giveaways or to determine if the game results is not rigged by using this steps you shared?. I am quite confused if purpose is what I just explained earlier or you share this because you are doing yourself a giveaway which this will be used to determine in your giveaway if I am not wrong.

Hello nakamura12, this is just a tutorial for those users who want to make a giveaway in the forum on a fair way for the users.

The casinos use a similar logic to prove their fairness and is important to teach people how to use this tools and the logic behind it, i'm not planing to make a giveaway, i just want to show you the right way to do it.
1611  Economy / Gambling / [How-To] Make a provably fair giveaway ✅ on: October 12, 2022, 06:13:33 PM
The hard way:

The biggest hex number between 0000 and FFFF win.

Client Seed(Hidden for public): 5d509c8bfcb6834e6d240b53a41b52c311daa127a9acc7b909ba37dcf3360d00
Giveaway Seed (client seed Sha256): c9a8bfd5a60af5533b0da6ada2e5202318d92fddc4b2f948625467cbff4709b4

Sha256 tools: https://xorbin.com/tools/sha256-hash-calculator

Now lets say 3 users join to the giveaway.

USERS - Post Date
UserA October 12, 2022, 05:39:50 PM
UserB October 12, 2022, 05:39:40 PM
UserC October 12, 2022, 05:39:30 PM

We can take that users data to make a string with the client seed, then take the last 4 digits from the sha result and se who is the winner.
Code:
5d509c8bfcb6834e6d240b53a41b52c311daa127a9acc7b909ba37dcf3360d00:UserA October 12, 2022, 05:39:50 PM
SHA256:
Code:
cb076f9ecbf7561c4714e44ea581266be975018278789653b7159dc2fddf9d40
Last 4 digits:
Code:
9d40

This way we have:

UserA 9d40
UserB b619
UserC dd39

If you aren't good with hex, then you can conver that result to decimal to verify who has the biggest number:
https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-decimal.html

9d40→40256, b619→46617, dd39→56633

That way we have a fair winner (UserC), then we only have to make public the client seed to let the people verify the result and send the prize.

The easy way:

Choose a number between 1 and 1000.

Game result phrase:
Code:
The winning number of the "My Business" Givaway started on date 02/05/2022:10:40 is the number 472
Sha256:
Code:
aa529508f4f5b51ecc7948b26dd917883cd0b86c34356ee516ba156315f8dd39

If you only make public the sha256, that way users know the game will be not rigged.

Outro.

I create this guide because i have seen a lot of giveaways in the past selecting the users from random.org or wheelofnames.com, and that isn't a fair way to select a winner because the organizer could roll multiple times the site until he gets the result he wants. So, i highly recommend to always provide a seed or a hash to make the game fair for all.  Wink

Update.

As some users realize both ways could be rigged with collusion. And the way to make it 100% provably fair is to bring an element from the future, like the hash of the block number 100 from now and add that data to the string before the sha256 encryption.

1613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 90% of bitcoin is owned by 2% of user base on: October 12, 2022, 04:23:57 PM
2% of user base...

In 2021 the estimations says there are 106,000,000 people who own Bitcoins, so the 2% of that is 212,000 users. who have 90% of the coins, it doesn't looks like something weird because the early investors still holding high amounts.

1614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What contests do you want to see on the Dice platform? on: October 12, 2022, 03:08:53 PM
There are some contest you can do on the forum:

Biggest multiplier race:
1.-Set a min. amount for the race.
2.-Biggest multiplier with the biggest amount win the fist price.
3.-Prices for 10 users.

Free coins for new users.
Offer a bonus for new users with a rollover of x30 to withdraw. This will attract new users, but you need to find a way to avoid cheaters and multi-accounts on this.
1615  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com does not deem crypto earnings as legal on: October 12, 2022, 01:58:05 PM
I have asked support and they have confirmed that they do not deem any crypto earnings as legal and valid source of income apart from income made through mining.

On the link you shared they specify all the Acceptable sources:

Quote
You can use one of the following documents to verify your source of funds:

Salary ( You will need to send us a recent bank statement indicating receipt of your salary or original of your payslip )

Sales of shared or other investments / liquidation of investment portfolio / bonds ( You will need to send us a bank statement clearly showing receipt of funds and investment company name or interest on bonds received )

Sale of property ( You will need to send us a copy of the contract of sale and a bank statement showing the proceeds of the sale )

Inheritance ( You will need to send us a copy of the deceased's will, and a bank statement showing the received funds, along with your current balance )

Company sale ( You will need to send us a letter detailing company sale signed by a licensed solicitor or regulated accountant on letter-headed paper )

A Gift from a family member or close relative ( You will need to send us a donor's letter explaining the reason for the gift and the source of their wealth. Also, we will require certified identification documents from donor )

Winning the Lottery ( You will need to send us a receipt of winnings and documentation e.g. bank statement showing the origin of the funds initially deposited )

Divorce settlement ( You will need to send us a divorce settlement agreement and bank statement clearly showing receipt of funds )

Loan ( You will need to send us an executed copy of the loan agreement and a bank statement showing the received funds along with your current balance )

Mining ( You will need to send us a ledger of the amount of cryptocurrency mined, as well as a wallet address and transaction hash to which the mined cryptocurrency was delivered )

They doesn't only accepts Mining as you mention, maybe you could prove it with your salary, or sales and liquidations.

If your coins comes from and illicit source or if you can't prove where they come from, then it will be a complex situation and your account will stay locked which isn't a nice option. I hope OP can find the right solution.
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC: different address-types, Not all were found in the blockchain explorer on: October 11, 2022, 10:05:40 PM
Some weeks ago i made a post in the spanish section explaining the address to the users, i know there is a lot of information in english and that's why i post it there, but with a translation you will undestand the difference between address:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5411330.0

There you will see an example of the most popular kind of address:

Code:
Base58 (P2PKH) 1AddyRpJ5SjfCH8N1WSkTX4FUPb4H2YfFx
Base58 (P2SH) 3Cad7LvtLjxWrQzdbLdnoQ9yP8Xr7rU1vH
BECH32 (P2WPKH) bc1qfkx8yykk6299gyx4d7adz4sgv5uzjjctzjz5n2
BECH32 (P2WSH) bc1qrp33g0q5c5txsp9arysrx4k6zdkfs4nce4xj0gdcccefvpysxf3qccfmv3

And with the same private key you can generate any kind of address.

You can send bitcoin from one kind to another because they are all for the same blockchain  Wink

1618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk is one of the keys to be 100k$ per Bitcoin? on: October 11, 2022, 08:40:44 PM
Elon Musk could send bitcoin price to $100k if he decides to do it.

It would be simple as make a post on twitter saying he will spend $1B in bitcoin, that would be a crazy bump for the markets because those who buy before Elon will get a massive profit from their investments.

In the end, Elon Musk have the money and the social impact to do it.
1619  Economy / Gambling / Re: To what extent do you chase anonymity while gambling? on: October 11, 2022, 07:06:44 PM
Hey guys.
Choosing crypto in casinos has always also to do with more anonimous gambling.
Anyway I'm curious how important is anonimity to you when you pay & play?

To be anonymous on a casino is important only if you don't trust in the site, give real data to an untrusted site it's a huge risk for your personal data.

That's the way i see it, i have no problems providing my information to sites that i trust for a KYC process because I'm not doing money laundering or something like that and i don't have anything to hide.

But if i have to choose i would prefer to stay anon.
