Dont know why Paycoin was at the top for as long as it has been!
Hope this coin dies a fast death, people had plenty of warning that it was a scam...
1682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSI]StabilityShares-NEW PotCoin Partnership! on: February 01, 2015, 10:24:09 PM
Are there any updates on this coin?
1683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrency do you have the most faith in the long term? on: January 29, 2015, 10:07:47 AM
Ripple, as it is backed by a central entity with huge reserves. Sad to say, but the only ones with big chance of success are the ones which are highly centralised and can perform efficiently.

The fact that 100 billion coins are pre-printed and in the hands of the founding company should be a big enough red flag for everybody to not touch Ripple. Nuff said.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ezeil/exposing_the_ripple_scam/

Ripple doesnt interest me the slightest, i could have invested in it while it was cheap and made $$$ but i didnt for a reason, expect a dump, ripple is just controlled by a small group of bankers with money to burn...

Dont sell now, buy more while they are still cheap!
1685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrency do you have the most faith in the long term? on: January 28, 2015, 11:23:00 AM

1686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: January 28, 2015, 04:28:25 AM
Cross post:

Here is the first Nxt coverage from a cryptorrency forecast standpoint
http://bullbearanalytics.com/2015/01/27/cryptocurrency-trading-new-coverage-nxt/

N.B. The sell off today was the BTER hacker selling 3million of the stolen 8million NXT, timed to inflict maximum damage it seems. But we're still here. Again.  Grin

I thought his address was blacklisted?

Even if it was blacklisted by the exchanges, whats to stop him moving it around into different accounts with a new address?
1687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 28, 2015, 03:30:29 AM
Many people think though that Bitcoin itself may not have a future, but the blockchain technology will - so there's no reason why innovative, groundbreaking projects like NEM can't get some serious momentum.

That's the thing. How do we know that NEM is "groundbreaking" when it doesn't really even exist yet? I am more interested in the PON model of mining at this point: PROOF OF NEM

Can we get some of that around here? February what? Please make the date firm. No more squirming around. If something isn't quite 100%, screw it, release it anyway. That's what Counterparty and NXT did and they've done just fine since.

So please stop all the talk about how great NEM is until it actually exists.

+1

NEM is a movement and exists here and now, with you.
You don't need to wait until the currency is pump and dumpable on exchanges to build our movement.

My main concern is if there is going to be a big dump after launch
1688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: January 28, 2015, 01:32:35 AM
Blockchain pruning?

No, blockchain pruning is completely different. This is reducing the size of the blockchain like a zip file does to a normal file, with the difference that file doesn't have to be unzipped to access it--instead reading the blockchain data is hundreds of times faster than reading the data from a standard blockchain.

Yes thats correct, ideally blockchain pruning is the way forward, basically old historical transactions that are so old can be removed with no ill effect, i guess they can always be "archived" for possible future reference if possible, but the blockchain will just keep getting longer and longer and larger in size if things are left to their own. I think i read somewhere that they are looking at blockchain pruning with BTC.
1689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrency do you have the most faith in the long term? on: January 27, 2015, 11:56:48 PM
NXT because it has the most usable features.

Yes and that is just one of many reasons to choose NXT  Grin
1690  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the trend for the price of BTC? on: January 27, 2015, 08:29:30 AM
Well i already bought some now, i actually intend in using it to buy other cryptocurrencies such as NXT but i may hold on to it until its price rises some more, the main issue is that in New Zealand we only have one exchange and it does not have alot of volume, so i ended up paying a little more for my BTC and no one in my city seems to be using localbitcoins.com either. I probably paid about $20 more per BTC than i should have.
1691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][FULLPOS][NEW.BETA V1.1.1.1 DOWNLOAD HERE] on: January 27, 2015, 12:30:25 AM
added a bit lighter version to the git

https://github.com/palmd/silkcoin/releases/download/1.1.1.1/Silkcoin-Qt-Win32-1.1.1.2-Installer.msi

if first time it loads up blkindex error restart it

will stake less often but for more.

removed more bloat so should reduce cpu usage as well.

re: silkroad.  have looked into it and is currently the black sheep of the darkweb.  tons and tons of warning about using it and has been removed from the darknet index with strong warnings against it.

I am not certain of its validity based on the warnings.

Will keep researching.

Silkroad 3.0 is not even run by the same people as the original silk road or the previous silk road 2.0, its up to them what currencies they want to use, but Darkcoin is now one of the official currencies they accept.

http://www.deepdotweb.com/2013/10/28/updated-llist-of-hidden-marketplaces-tor-i2p/

 Undecided

That information does not appear to be overly reliable, i know for a fact that the previous 2.0 site was not a scam, and it was shut down specifically for the sale of illegal contraband there.

Yes there are lots of dark web sites that are probably alot better than silk road, with alot more sales volume and products, but silk road wont go away any time soon, if one gets shut down another will appear.

BTW, the DRK community seem to be rather happy at this news:

1692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] New Podcast - Mintcoin V1.14 Windows Wallet and Community Update on: January 27, 2015, 12:17:52 AM
I have .5 btc incoming tomorrow and another .5 btc incoming Friday. I was hoping to spend it in Mint. I hope I don't miss the 1 satoshi price. Is this coin dead btw? Am I crazy in thinking of investing in it? Should I stay away? Man I so wish it had a mobile staking wallet, this coin would be a beast with it.

there was 15+ btc in sells at 2 sat a few days ago on cryptsy but it's down to around 12 now Smiley I can't speak for anyone but I've been buying a million or 2 when I can... the devs have stuck around this long so I can't see them giving up any time soon

It's almost a year old now and the devs are not likely to give up on an established coin.

exactly, I think Mint is a great choice to hold long term

Mint is doomed for failure, i dumped all of mine last year while they were still worth something and bought NXT with them...

Missed the Bitcoin boom?  Huh

Your revenge on BTCitcoin is here!

Monster networkers and Major bankers are investing in what is described in mainstream news in China and other countries as the best investment since the launch of Bitcoin!

This totally legal worldwide crypto currency is projected to skyrocket like Bitcoin and the more the merrier because for those who would like to share this revolutionary opportunity (which is optional) membership comes with a generous binary compensation plan enhancing it's popularity.

Not to mention that this is back by Aurum Gold.

We have mined 60,000 coins successfully. Mining opens for public today

Im wanting to buy some BTC today and am unsure if todays rise will be a quick spike and then fall back down again.

Im aware that the reason for the rise is that coinbase has set up a US exchange.

I think the fall has already happened, I doubt you would see any big fall soon , specially in a day or 2, leading upto the announcement on 2nd, by which the price might go up.

What announcement is that?
1697  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the Future of Bitcoin ? on: January 26, 2015, 10:58:00 PM
Wouldn't it be cool if Bitcoins were stored in 3D GPS coordinates? You'd have to be physically at the point to claim it. You'd use a drone to mark or relay the signal. It's like storing something in thin air. Because let's face it, hard drives and storage may be getting smaller, but that beast block chain is going to get humongo!!!

Sounds a cool idea, probably suited for some other coin instead.
That would truly make it a POW coin if you physically had to get off your but and find the coins.
Of course some places would logistically be impossible to reach or extremely remote etc, so by that time those coins would only be harvested when the price makes it more attractive to do so.
