Let me save you a lot of wasted time and effort. Just BUY bitcoin if you want to try it out. Plenty of people here will direct you to "faucets". That is where you spend all day earning pennies. If your time is worth at least 1$ an hour then you will loose money begging or screwing with faucets.

I did not get into bitcoin to make fiat? Selling is not an option for me, I will spend my bitcoin for the win. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

I guess bitcoin is dead then. I mean, this guy would know. ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif)

Well I know your prepared for one. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) You're right. He sold all of his Bitcoins to avoid this 'huge dump' during the bull market/halving. You're truly an inspiration. Truly!
of course after any pump (this one is huge) there will be a dump. We all know it. But 200s?! If the prices dropped to $200 I'd be thrilled. More of a chance for me to own multiple Bitcoins! He saw so far into the future he sold before the "pump". lol Na, just kidding. It's good to have a pessimist o board the ship. No use in twenty pairs of eves if they're all looking the same direction.

I suggest you spend it on an economics degree. You will learn that money does not just "double". ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) You will be as broke as if you "invested" it, but at least you will have a degree.

Thanks for posting, I'll check it out. Right now I like SureSpot because it has all the needed features for secure comms. 1. Open source. ( I would not even consider a closed source option.) 2. End-to-end encryption. 3. complete permission to delete all occurrences of your posted material.
With these features there is no need to trust anyone. That is what real security is.

Why can't we all make friends with not knowing the future price? It would help since there is absolutely no possible way of knowing.

Anyone who does not know the difference between a float point and an integer will not be capable of writing code.

Is it ever a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket? You should dig that up now that we all know where it is. Then re-hide them in different places, not together.

I think it has already had an effect on the banking sector. New payment systems are all the rage in finance right now. Credit cards and payments had not changed in decades. Then bitcoin shows up to disrupt things and now we have Apple-pay, Venmo and many others. This rush to develop payments is spured on by bitcoin. Even the conservative banks agree that payments will never be the same again. We won the war.

This is one thing that Theymos will have to respectfully disagree about.
If you're directly responding to the quote in the title, theymos has never said that. This is a false quote. I was. Thank you for the correction. I forgot I was at bitcointalk for a moment. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

You don't need to use bitcoin or cars or televisions or expressions like "at the end of the day..." or sporks or duct tape, etc. Yet despite the fact that you don't need to use them, you may well use them for the rest of your life.

This is 100% the end of bitcoin as we know it. Good thing too. This 'open source', 'no leadership', 'no organization' thing was always a load of bullshit.
Yeah! I don't want to know how stuff works, I just want my Mommy to tell me what to do!! That thought of 'longing for a leadership' made me think that some people can't think on their own, can't choose their own path and must have someone who tells them what to do, what to act and think. Because of its decentralization and lack central authority Bitcoin is not good good option for them - and it will be their main argument against it. There is nothing that bitcoin supporters can do about that mentality. I smell money. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) A business that caters to the timid may do quite well in the bitcoin economy. is it really really sure ? i think its not dead yet, theres still so many people using btc. and some ppl still mining btc. correct me if im wrong
You are right. Bitcoin has been declared dead at least 100 times since I have been using it. It has become a running joke around here.

According to Schrödinger, bitcoin is both alive AND dead. lol

This is one thing that Theymos will have to respectfully disagree about. I can't support any activity that allows control over another persons coins. To me, this is antithetical to the unassailable ownership of bitcoin. Let's just stay out of each others cool-aid. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I think it already is. Not that it is accepted everywhere, but when I travel I always exchange some bitcoin for Euros or Dinar or whatever. I also like it when I have the option to turn any extra money into bitcoin after a trip. It sucks to get stuck with $30 worth of some countries fiat that you can't spend.

Dude, I would be very, very careful about this. The odds of you being scammed rather than helped must be 90to1.
NEVER, EVER, EVER under any circumstances trust ANYONE with you private key. The reasons why you are not updating could be related to:
1. The version you are using. Make sure you have the latest version of whatever wallet you are running. Wallets may not be compatible, so if you were using bitcoin QT (now called Bitcoin Core) then download the new version of that wallet. If you used Electrum then download that one.
2. Your password or pass phrase. If you set up a password then you will need to find it. Without it there is no chance of recovery.
3. You have not synced with the network. This can take a long time, like many days depending on your connection.
Lastly, It is super important to back up your wallet file. In Core it is named "wallet.dat" This file contains your private keys and without it there is no chance of recovery. SO BACK IT UP FIRST! Make three copies, you can't have to many, but zero is too few. Never share your wallet!!!!!!!!!!!!
