1701  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockstream's new blockexplorer on: November 07, 2018, 07:05:27 PM
Yup, I’m also coming to Blockstream as this explorer seems to support Bech32 just fine and Blockchain doesn’t do that (I wonder when they’ll also make the upgrade). Other browsers that supported Bech32 in the past didn’t feel all that great to me, and the site is clean and navigable. Nothing incredible here, but it’s the best out there for Bech32 support IMO.
1702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What would you do? on: November 07, 2018, 01:31:58 PM
If you’re a long term believer in crypto, the answer’s obvious to me, and that is to continue mining with the cards even after they have broken even. Power’s not an issue as you stated, so there really isn’t a point where it might be more profitable to buy coins than mine at a loss, but if you truly believe in Ether, keep mining it! There’s no guarantee the price of ETH will go up, but if your viewpoint is that crypto will become more successful in the future, go with it.
1703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does hard work in gambling count? on: November 07, 2018, 01:42:41 AM
Yeah some games do require your strategy and intelligence in playing like poker, but luck still also plays an important role, you don't know what cards you will receive, it could be bad right? how hard you try to make a strategy, it will still be useless if your havent luck
Luck is essential in gambling and even if you play those analysis-based games still you'll ask for it. I played many times with poker and each player even the skilled ones are hoping that it may come to them.

Merits to those hardworking people but its really different when we say working hard in gambling. Your hardwork may reap what you deserve but the result varies. Having a combination of these, analysis, hardwork and luck increases the chances of winning.
I absolutely agree with this statement. Skill and luck come hand in hand in some games, but in the end, you can only become so skilled at a game. Luck will always play a significant factor in gambling, and it is supposed to in any game, so you will naturally have good days and bad days, but that doesn't mean having skill doesn't help out. At the same time, there are games that are purely based on luck like virtual dice that don't require much skill at all, and there's not much to improve at there.
1704  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Giving Bitcoin as a gift on: November 06, 2018, 02:22:16 PM
Most people make paper wallets wrong and this exposes the wallets to vulnerabilities even before they’re loaded and out of the printer- to make them correctly, you need to follow several precautions to ensure that they’re made securely. I feel This wiki post covers the topic relatively well if you still choose to go down the paper wallet route. A hardware wallet is also a good solution for securely storing coins, though they do cost anywhere from $80-100 in most places.
1705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: On what kind of gambling you got maximum reward from betting? on: November 06, 2018, 02:13:03 PM
I’m deep in the red for everything except esports betting. I do some Dota 2 bets but mostly just CS:GO bets, and I find most of my profit in either the extreme lower end of competition or high end. Obviously things are still luck in the end, but I find esports betting to be much more fun and profitable than playing a game like dice or roulette. Some people also sell paid picks for CS:GO bets, but I find my percentage of winning bets are often higher than the paid picks and I typically make more than if I had gone with a paid pick.
1706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Newbie question - what are good coins to mine for now? on: November 06, 2018, 01:01:01 PM
One thing to note is that whattomine uses modifications to GPUs in their calculator, such as undervolting and a mild memory overclock- hovering over the GPU name shows the mods done to the card, and most of these overclocks and undervolts are reachable for basically all cards of that model number. If you don’t know how to change card clocks and voltages, download MSI Afterburner if you’re on Windows and change numbers from there. There’s plenty of guides here to help you out. All you need to do is find them and read through them- everyone here started with reading existing information to learn how to mine.
1707  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do credit cards lock your account if they see you buying bitcoin? on: November 06, 2018, 12:50:40 PM
I bought bitcoin through a credit card about a year ago in the past and it was relatively easy, though the total amount was a bit less than $50. Banks are indeed picky about transactions, and there’s entire threads on Reddit about which banks aren’t particular about crypto transactions, but the usual answer is to just use a credit union if you’re trying to buy crypto through something similar to a bank. I don’t buy a lot of crypto nowadays, but my local credit union never had a problem with my occasional crypto purchases.
1708  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are there any exchanges where we can trade with NEO &/or LTC Pairs insted of BTC on: November 06, 2018, 02:20:20 AM
Binance has a few NEO and LTC pairs, but you'll find that most exchanges do tend to not have many pairs for either coin, or volume's extremely low on pairs outside NEO/LTC to BTC/ETH or to any of the bigger cryptocurrencies. Most exchanges do have pairs to Tether nowadays, but I typically don't use those pairs. You definitely do have more freedom trading to ETH or BTC as you gain more pairs and more volume though.
1709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethash 900 MH/s for $3700 would you go? on: November 05, 2018, 10:57:56 PM
What's the wattage like on the cards, how many cards are there, and how fast does each card hash? The break-even period's pretty nice on these cards assuming each one runs at a wattage of around 93 watts and the entire setup uses around 3000 watts, but I can't be completely sure because you only provided information regarding the hashrate of the rig, but even with these numbers that I'm estimating, it's a decent deal, even if you're just selling the cards. I estimate there's around 36 cards total at 900 MH/s, and even if there's less, you're getting some pretty decent profit if each sells at $130-140, and I'm not even accounting for the additional value in the motherboard, PSU, etc. I'd go for it if I were you.
1710  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's the best website for selling domain names with cryptos? on: November 05, 2018, 10:24:55 PM
I saw a post on another forum stating that namesilo allows you to cash out in Bitcoin for selling on their platform, though the site seems like a pretty average mid-2000s design and I'm not completely sure of the legitimacy of the site. Bitcointalk's a good place to sell for sure, though, as I've been looking at places to sell domains, and most of them seem to either be automated marketplaces that only accept PayPal or the occasional forum post accepting Bitcoin or other crypto as payment for domains. Just make sure you're using escrow unless your buyer's sending money first so as to not be scammed, and you'll be fine. SFR10 linked the section to sell above.
1711  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: C-Cex Login not working! on: November 05, 2018, 10:19:03 PM
If you don't know where to make a ticket, I did some searching and you can submit a ticket at the bottom of this page here (click on the blue). Seems like their support is pretty slow as they quote a normal response time of less than 72 hours or 3 days, which is pretty long for an exchange IMO.

You could also try tweeting to the C-Cex twitter account here for support, though it seems most of their tweets are plagued with other tweets about horrible support and such. Seems like a terrible exchange overall from what I can see.
1712  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bots, AI Bots or signals? on: November 02, 2018, 12:46:38 AM
I've never had good results from signal groups, as most of them are just pump-and-dump groups as mentioned above in this thread, and it does take some experience to configure bots for best results. Bots do work, but it's not as easy as it seems and configuring bots is a whole 'nother game compared to simply trading manually, and it does take a pretty hefty initial investment to even get a basic bot license, though prices differ depending on what bot you purchase. Not really worth it in the end to trade with a bot IMO, with all the maintenance that is required on the bot itself- and even after all that, you're gaining relatively small profits.
1713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to increase my holdings/Tokens? on: November 01, 2018, 09:51:14 PM
Yup, holding for the long term has always been a viable strategy in crypto and it will continue to be a good strategy. Obviously not all coins will go up in price and you shouldn't expect a significant amount of the coins you hold to go up in price, but holding is a viable option over selling as soon as possible, especially when you recognize potential in a coin or token. Holding takes mental willpower and you need to know when you wish to cash out so you aren't left holding too long, so it takes experience just like anything else in life, but it's a good skill to have.
1714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 39 $ on: November 01, 2018, 09:47:41 PM
Makes sense since the profitability on these machines has dropped so much they're basically bricks right now, and you have to pay the hefty shipping costs from China to wherever you live. It's indeed interesting that prices on the L3+ and D3 units have dropped so much, however- I don't recall the last time any full-sized miners were sold for this price direct from Bitmain.
1715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Radeon RX 590 Rumors 💲⛏ (Specs/Launch/Price) on: November 01, 2018, 01:21:50 PM
You sure can try to flash a 580 into something newer, but I guarantee the flash won’t do anything besides possibly bricking your card if you don’t have dual bios or know how to reflash a card; I doubt the card will even display anything.

What's with all the damn GPU ASIC Flooding the market!!  Huh Grin seriously though the GTX 1060 GDDR5X looks to be the real winner of ETH-Hash coins if the pill works for it. The RX 590 doesn't impress me they didn't even boost the memory speed we know GDDR5 can handle 9GBPS, but the power savings would be nice. On the other hand if ETH implements ProgPoW then RX 580's are near worthless at it whereas Vega56's with its HBM will be far superior, even to Nvidia GPUs. Then If vega 20 comes out with the 4096-bit HBM bus + 16-32GB vRAM then that will be a real monster for mining memory intensive algos.
What’s a GPU ASIC? I assume you’re talking about both GPUs and ASICS flooding the market. The 1060 G5X should be moddable for the pill, but who knows what the performance of the card will be once that’s done.
1716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Free electricity need advice to mine in old computer on: November 01, 2018, 01:17:36 PM
You can’t even play any recently released video games with that pc build, and you won’t be able to mind with a card that old as well. I’m not even sure what PCIe version your motherboard supports, and whether or not you’ll be able to even put in a newer card on that PC to start mining. Either way, you’ll need to make a new build to mine, as your current setup is much too weak to do anything related to mining atm.
1717  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommendations for good exchanges on the smaller side? on: November 01, 2018, 11:29:11 AM
Bisq is another option if you’re looking for a decentralized, no-KYC exchange- all exchanges are P2P, no verification is required, and the app has a great, extremely easy to navigate interface. AFAIK the main app is only available on Linux, Windows and Mac, but it’s still an overall good exchange. There is a mobile app for the exchange, but it’s only for alerts and notifications.
1718  Economy / Gambling / Re: DropDise.com 🎲 Play , Invest Or Make your own lifetime passive income 🎲 on: October 31, 2018, 11:01:57 PM
The site no longer even loads for me on both Chrome and the Microsoft Edge browser on my computer, so I have no way of even reaching the website and critiquing the site anymore. I typically like to invest in bitcoin casinos, especially new ones that seem promising to me, but considering the things that avikz has said about the site, I'm not touching this with a ten-foot pole. There are many somewhat pasted gambling sites out there (Bustabit clones especially), but a new and pasted site is different, especially when there's investments involved.
1719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Journey from gambling to trading on: October 31, 2018, 03:54:32 PM
If you’re inexperienced and trade based on emotion, it is entirely possible that trading can be gambling. Like anything else, trading requires experience more than anything, and that’s something you can only gain with time. I agree with most of your tips, but it’s okay to start with a small amount of money you can afford to lose at first. It’ll help you trade realistically and you’ll gain experience with actual trading by doing so. Some sites also offer demo trading accounts where you can learn to trade on your own without investing any money.
1720  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Asicminer.co has anyone heard of this company? on: October 31, 2018, 03:14:37 PM
The number of people making new accounts claiming to have found a good new mining retailer and leaving positive reviews of products that might not even exist seems to be on the rise recently- if anyone reviews hardware, don’t trust the review if the account is new or has low trust.

It’s always best to purchase hardware directly or from a trusted reseller, and this won’t change anytime soon. The number of scammers in crypto will continue to rise, and their methods of scamming change over time. It’s up to you to recognize this.
