Run a full node for the bitcoin network! It's much needed and appreciated.
Well, if you want to earn, then do what others tell you.
If you are going to mine, mine on p2pool.
1702  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: i would like to rent my mining equipment out 1.2 TH/s on: June 01, 2014, 08:36:40 PM
Give the guy a chance. Setting up a new account for renting out hashing isn't unheard of, even more so if he's setting up a business.

Let him at least try to prove he's not a scammer before pointing at him and yelling scammer.

Agreed. Being a seasoned member at bitcointalk shouldn't be a requirement. Nothing says that you HAVE to be well known here to have any mining equipment, etc.

 Undecided

Yeah, that's why I'm telling him to set it up on LeaseRig, since that doesn't require you to be extremely trusted on the forum.
1703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recovering a wallet on: June 01, 2014, 08:30:36 PM
Hello everyone,
I cant seem to find the answer to my new question about bitcoin wallet.

Im using Armory as my main wallet... I have saved my private key in many places but what happens if  i uninstall the program from my computer and armory would not offer downloads off the program anymore...how could i recover my wallet?

thanks

Is Armory your first wallet? I would recommend you use Electrum instead. Armory is more suited for experienced users.

yes it is...why would you recommend Electrum?

It's a lightweight client, which means that you don't need to sync and download all the blocks from the blockchain. It is very easy and simple to use, newbie-friendly. You can also choose to use change addresses or not easily and select the fee easily too.

there is a fee to using Electrum?

There are fees for nearly all bitcoin transactions.

If you have a wallet.dat file, import it into blockchain.info. That's like the easiest way of all.
1706  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Noob question on: June 01, 2014, 08:21:57 PM
TL;DR:
POW: Proof of Work. Transactions and Blocks are processed by miners that use mining hardware to hash stuff, and the miner will earn the transaction fees.
POS: Proof of Stake. Random wallet with coins in and that is open is chosen to generate a block, and it will earn the transaction fees.
1707  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: i would like to rent my mining equipment out 1.2 TH/s on: June 01, 2014, 08:18:39 PM
I suggest you lease your rigs out on LeaseRig. There are a lot more customers there.
1708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is cloud mining with PBmining.com profitable ??? on: June 01, 2014, 07:53:17 PM
I got paid today too. Look, it might be a ponzi, but the whole point is that it's a sustainable and paying ponzi.

These insignificant payments you are receiving don't prove anything. You will find out that it is a ponzi scheme when they stop paying. They can stop paying at any time and you will lose all of your money.

And even if they don't have that many TH/s, they should at least have some.

They don't have to have any mining equipment if they don't intend to pay the full amount.

I'm like 2 weeks to break even Smiley
And yes, they might not have any mining equipment at all, but I think they do. However, that's just my opinion.
1709  Economy / Lending / Re: Want to get loan on: June 01, 2014, 05:55:56 PM
You are a newbie without trust, and you are asking for a big loan without collateral.
No one will lend to you.
1710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: network speed? what does it mean? on: June 01, 2014, 05:14:22 PM
if the new coins comes out, what kind of stats am I looking for?

What do you mean? Do you mean to see if the coin is good?

yes, that is what I mean.  Grin

Well, all coins start with a low hashrate, but if it's a lot, then it means that others also like the coin and are mining it.
What you should look out for is that there is as less premine as possible, and that it has something that is actually new.

so it has to be new, no ipo and no premined.

Preferably no IPO and no premine, but that's just my personal opinion.
If it's something that actually contributes to the world like PrimeCoin, that would be great. If there's nothing new and it's just copied, like YinYangCoin and many others, then it's rubbish.

Network hashrate means the hashrate of the entire network.
Mining at what pool shouldn't make a difference in the long term.
1714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Fury or 2 Gridseeds? on: June 01, 2014, 03:54:46 PM
Well Luke from GAWminers was very helpful, he sent me a confirmation of payment. I hope I get mine sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

I know. I talked to him, and he told me that they would be back in stock ASAP. They did, and I bought one.
Does someone have a compiled version of cgminer that works for both GPU and GAW products?

You basically implied I sent the transaction without a transaction fee on purpose, then ignored my request for help on how to set the transaction fee and did the sarcastic rolling eyes smiley, even though I paid you 0.005BTC for 2 minutes work just because I felt bad for being a pain in the butt. I'm a noob, I was just looking for a little guidance on how it works. I just know I would be more friendly to someone who was clearly trying, even if they were making a few mistakes.

Anyway, I've figured it out, and have sent you a second 0.05BTC payment with a transaction fee.

TransactionID: 8fa6635f869409b18b2284f55c41d895ff09721e7483deffa852e5621f157d87-000

Please send back the original 0.05BTC when it confirms, and send my 3LTC to LYFAA4A3Wff573vY1a9BZHALdQbHRKrL4b. Thanks.  Undecided

1720  Economy / Lending / Re: Micro Loans Available, No Collateral Necessary on: June 01, 2014, 02:14:32 PM
I wasn't asking for a loan I was seeing if he would be willing to give me one especially since he gave one earlier to a jr member account.

What is the difference between asking for a loan and seeing if someone is willing to give you a loan?

Looking for a loan, 0.555 btc, will pay back 50% interest within 1/2 hour. Loan will be used to create Polycoin Industries which focuses on initiating Polycoin's rise as the #1 currency.

You really need to look at your trust first. Also, I think he will only give you a loan so that you can get proper education.
