2141  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Used Gridseed 5-Chips on: May 18, 2014, 12:09:34 PM
I am willing to buy some used gridseeds, preferably with power cable and mini usb cable included. Tell me your offer.

why used: I found a guy in greece with about 500 new ones he's selling for $40 a piece.

That's OK too. Used are supposed to be cheaper, but who is that guy?

forum member: promithios

Sent him a PM. Still interested in other offers.

The best coin is Bitcoin, and none of them are free. You either buy them or you mine them.
2145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any namecoin faucets out there? on: May 18, 2014, 11:19:29 AM

I searched all over the internet but I only found one from bitcoinmaster(Very slow earnings). Are there any other working namecoin faucets/giveaways?
I dont know about namecoin faucets, but you could try earning in one faucet then trading for namecoin on one of the exchanges

All you earn in faucets is just dust anyway, you probably can't even pay the tx fee. Just buy some bitcoins or earn some, and then exchange it to namecoin if you really need some.
2146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod on: May 18, 2014, 11:15:27 AM
Can someone recommend me a cheap soldering iron to do this job? I found this, but a friend said that the tip was too big, and he told me to use this one.
2147  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: May 18, 2014, 11:13:47 AM
Has anyone actually been paid?
I'm still waiting

I doubt you'll be getting paid. Where is your sign-up post?
I must have forgotten to make the post, but it has been in my sig right when I made 50 posts because that was the min requirement
I did not know I had to do this :/

It's all in the op. How can anyone tell or verify how many posts you made? When did you actually sign up? You've barely made 50 posts since January, so regardless you haven't lost much.
The whole purpose of having to post a signup post is so that people don't cheat and lie. Maybe you aren't, but if you haven't done the signup post, then no payment.
2148  Economy / Lending / Re: Taking applications for microloans (no collateral) on: May 18, 2014, 11:09:03 AM
Did you read the thread instructions?

I try. But not all was clear for me. English not my first language and sometimes having these troubles.  Tongue

To apply for a loan without a trusted
account and without collateral, you
must post a Youtube video in your
application.

Post your video as a response to this
thread.

1. Introduce yourself to the community
2. Explain how much you need to borrow
3. Explain the purpose of the loan
4. Give a reasonable proposal of interest and duration (suggestion is 20% interest and payback within 7 days)
5. Explain how you will repay the loan.

If you don't have a video camera or webcam
to create your video, then you cannot
use this service.

There you go. You must make a video of you introducing yourself, say how much you need, say why you need it, payback time and interest, and how you will pay it back.
A youtube video.
2149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple BTC wallets for security? on: May 18, 2014, 11:06:57 AM
Aha, that's not how it works. You generate a private key on an offline computer, abd then print it out. That way keyloggers cannot send the data to the hacker.

That's not completely true, if your computer is already compromised, you can even cut off the internet connection, but when you will re-connect the PC, a keylogger will be able to send the infos catched in the offline session to an attacker.

So the best thing that you can do is basically use a live CD to obtain a clear environment

Sorry, I think I didn't express myself clearly, I meant a computer that will never be online at all.
But if you had that, you could simply turn it into a cold wallet, where you sign transactions on there and then broadcast it using an online computer.
2150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 18, 2014, 11:03:27 AM

Scrypt-Based Mining now is just generally dead. I don't see the point anymore, even if you have Mh/s, you're still losing a LOT with electricity costs.

Some people have access to really cheap or even free electricity.

True, however my single card rig (303KH/s) uses 240W solid when mining. I have it on for 9 hours each day during the night since mining scrypt is so unprofitable ~ at least for me anyway. Its around £9 a month now that I'm doing this minus a couple pound due to my solar panels which are grid tied.

Pick up an R9 270 yo! Coupled with a Sempron 145 you can have a low power single rig pushing 430+ Kh/s and fairly low temps...should be under 175w! Also GOLD rated PSU or better helps a bunch.

I have it at 475kh/s, and it's using around 180w. It's a really good card, but instead, you really should get some gridseeds, since they use a lot less power than GPUs.
2151  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Am I getting scammed? First time bitcoin user on: May 18, 2014, 11:01:08 AM
The transaction looks legitimate, but transactions aren't irreversible until they are included in a block and gain at least one confirmation, and the more confirmations the better.

Even at a the standard 6 confirmations they aren't irreversible. It just a function of the amount of network power an individual holds and whether its worth their time to reverse a transaction. It gets progressively harder with each block but if someone had 50% they would very easily be able to reverse a single confirmation transaction. That's why the whole notion of a decentralised mining system is so important.

Correct. So that's why we all fear a 51% attack, since it would potentially destroy the entire bitcoin network. Good thing that ghash.io is now only at 33%, and not 4x% like before.
2152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple BTC wallets for security? on: May 18, 2014, 02:13:26 AM
It sounds like everyone is going to know my balance if I don't use a mixing service and that's OK.  The important thing is that they can't take it.  What is the best way to go about storing the bulk of my BTC offline?  Paper wallets seem to be popular.  How do you transfer BTC from a paper wallet to an online wallet for spending?

You can use any wallet to import the private key, and you can spend funds from that wallet.

So you create a new private key on your computer, print it onto a piece of paper, and delete it from your computer.  Then when you want to spend those funds, you type the private key from the piece of paper into your computer?  I don't see how that offers much extra security since your private key will then be known if your computer has been compromised.  What am I missing?

Aha, that's not how it works. You generate a private key on an offline computer, abd then print it out. That way keyloggers cannot send the data to the hacker.
Also, you don't have to type the whole private key in, you can just scan a QR code.
2153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Make unlimited Bitcoins with Cex.io vouchers on: May 18, 2014, 02:10:37 AM
What a stupid method, why would people buy the vouchers on eBay? Only complete retards would do so, and I doubt that many of them exist.

Umm.. yeah it may be stupid but people are buying them all day for easily double the price they are on Cex.io. I don't get why someone would either but there's tons of people that I guess don't know how to get Bitcoins elsewhere buying them up. Check the completed listings before you just assume no one would buy these when you really have no idea - http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=cex.io+vouchers&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc
Tons of people making a living on selling these vouchers on ebay or sites like fiver etc.
And I'm sure your aware the chargebacks on bitcoin related sales are rife on Ebay?

There is also a 10% Ebay fee, and how do you know that prople buy them? They are just listings.
2154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much would Bitcoin be by May 31,2014 on: May 18, 2014, 12:50:30 AM
My own speculation would be the bitcoin price would be pretty stable at the current price (~$450) for at least a few weeks, until we have some big news/FUDs. Wink

It's like any moment now, we are waiting for a big news to drive the price straight up.
2155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I post? My posts after first two are all rejected, I waited 1 hr on: May 17, 2014, 11:50:44 PM
I don't get how you felt like you were having problems with posting, yet managed to make a thread about it?

Try creating a new account and you will see. This is the most frustrating time I ever had with any forum. It took me many failures to find out that as a newbie I could post here but not in the main threads. After each failure I would do something else in disgust and when I came back to this forum my session had expired, I logged in and tried to repost the message I want to send, and it always failed, telling me I had not waited for 360 seconds.  I tried creating another account, but the restrictions are IP locked. It took me a long time to find out it was something to do with being a newbie, and even then I could not find out what exactly the restriction are, only answers to answers to other queries that hinted that after some unknown number of posts that keeps changing, I would be promoted beyond newbie one day.

I provided an email address when I registered, but nothing. Why not send a welcome message explaining the restrictions to first time users?

Why not search for the information you need and read it? Is it that hard?

also i don't have 2 verification on my wallet how he get my password i think is very sick site now is down for 10 hours and they say that localbitcoins had no problem and user are responsible for the lose.

Well, you are responsible. All bitcoin transactions are irreversible, and we cannot "block" or "freeze" a wallet. It's your own fault.
Why didn't you set up 2FA? The hacker could've put some keylogger on your system, stolen your cookies and whatnot. Also, why store your bitcoins on a web service?

It is your own fault. It's time your learnt that this world is harsh and cruel.
2159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple BTC wallets for security? on: May 17, 2014, 11:07:11 PM
Everyone that doesn't use a mixing service is exposing their total balance to the recipient whenever they send BTC?

Technically yes. Change addresses can be traced, and someone can determine which addresses belong to who in that way.

I'm not sure what to do.  There are a lot of posts in this thread saying that if you don't use multiple addresses, anyone you send BTC to will know how much BTC you have.  Now it sounds like if you don't use a mixing service, everyone you send to will know what you have even if you use multiple addresses.

I'm not trying to hide from anyone.  I just want to go about my merry crypto life in a smart way.  If I keep my entire balance in an encrypted wallet on my computer under a single address so I only have to back up that single private key, am I an idiot?  Everyone I send to will know my balance, but in order to steal from me, they would have to hack into my computer and install a keylogger in order to get my password for decryption, right?

No, you are not an idiot. And yes, to steal from you, they would have to hack into your wallet.
People that want to stay anonymous are either criminals or privacy-paranoid.
