I assure you, the economy is not bad at all, it is improving very well.
The biggest problem in China is education, morals and common sense.

My parents are from Hong Kong, (a ex-british colony part of China, which is considered a "city", and does not have to follow chinese rules and governs itself) and seeing what we call "mainland" tourists is just horrifying. Apparently taking a dump on the floor at a 60-floor shopping center is perfectly acceptable, and when security is called, they try to bribe them (WTF?) and if not, just punch them in their face.

Yuck! The funny things is that if they do something like that in the mainland, they will be thrown behind bars. No wonder, I heard a few days ago from Singapore that house owners don't want to rent out their apartments to migrants from the mainland China.

The most disgusting thing is that there must be at least 500 toilets in the place. Their excuse was that they couldn't find them.
2462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 06, 2014, 08:44:12 PM
Around Nov/Dec 2013, I was mining with Middlecoin and getting around 0.001-0.004 BTC per day using a Radeon 5750. Usually getting towards the lower end of that range but getting payouts every day. Now after a 5 month break I started mining with CleverMining and the amount of BTC to be paid sucks. Checking my stats on their website (because no payouts yet), I'm getting not much more than 0.0001 BTC per day. Only 10% of what I got with Middlecoin. Why could this be?

I'll post the cgminer screenshot because to be honest, I don't really know what I am looking at. Except it says the program was started at 5am? That can't be right, I would have been asleep...

Profitability has decreased significantly since December. You can expect ~0.003 BTC per day per MH/s at this time, and you only have 0.07 MH/s, so this works out to about 0.0002 BTC per day.

You screenshot shows intensity 10, you might want to increase that.

Ah I didn't realise profitability had decreased so much in this time. I'll probably just mine in winter to keep me warmer lol.

I stick to an intensity of 10 so the system does not become unresponsive.

edit: I just shut it down and "Reject Ratio: 17.3%" seems rather high, doesn't it? This had been running all night and then all day at the point I stopped it.

In the picture you provided your real reject rate is shown on the same line as the hashrate and it's around 2%.

Ah I see it. Wonder why it said 17.3% then Huh.

Because there are what we call "Fake Rejects", which are displayed as "Rejected Untracked Stratum share on pool 0", which is basically just a communication error between miner and pool.

The captcha numbers seem to have disappeared on the login page. I'm worried about logging in, in case someone has taken over the site to steal passwords. Could someone reassure us that that the slowness and the captcha disappearance isn't a cause for concern?

All I see right now are "Server Updates".

So that's why every miner I order new from China has some dust in them.   Tongue

"Burn in tests"

Well of course, that's like a standard practice these days.
2465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best gift for Bitcoiners? on: May 06, 2014, 07:58:23 PM
Well, there are many things, including:

-I <3 Bitcoin Shirts
-I <3 Bitcoin Mugs
-I <3 Bitcoin Stickers
-I <3 Bitcoin wallpapers
-I <3 Bitcoin clothes

Basically, anything related to bitcoin. Well, actual bitcoins would be better though.

Similar question related to GridSeeds...  They are struggling on high difficulty, and I'm not buying "but on average..." argument.

Is there a way to limit difficulty of shares when mining on CM?  I found none so far...

If you can do basic math you don't have to "buy" anything. Let it run for 24 hours, check the stats. Gridseeds work fine even at 1024 diff given enough time.

I wonder if you can show that "basic math" you are talking about.  I believe that if share is not submitted, it cannot be "replaced" by twice the shares during the same size time slot later because miner doesn't generate shares, it accepts work from pool.  One has to count how many shares are submitted in 24 hours when share difficulty is e.g. 64, and then count how many shares are submitted in 24 hours when share difficulty is 1024, and then compare these two numbers taking into account share size.

You are assuming that these two numbers are the same.  There is no way to test your assumption without the ability to manually set difficulty.  I'm pretty positive than due to larger number of rejected/stale shares at higher difficulty, average for 24 hours will be lower at difficulty higher than miner can handle.  Isn't that the reason VARDIFF exists and p2pools have a parameter where you can specify desired difficulty?

Also looking at graphs on betarigs (damn those graphs) I can clearly see that GPU that I lease shows accepted average rate within 0-1% of what cgminer shows, whereas 8-10 pods gridseed rigs consistently show accepted average rate 10-15% lower than what cgminer shows.

cgminer already shows shares submitted as "difficulty 1", i.e. multiplied by pool difficulty. In other words, if pool diff is 512 and it accepts a share, cgminer's "A:" will increase by 512, if pool is VARDIFF then "A:" will increase by whatever the diff is at that time. So that part is already taken care of and my point still stands - run it for 24 hours, check the "A:", compare it to whatever your benchmark is.

P2Pools settings and VARDIFFs exist mainly to produce smooth hashrate charts and to reduce server load (higher diff = fewer worthless shares for the server to deal with).

Not sure I get your point about Betarigs - are you the rig owner or the renter? If you're are the renter, then the rig owner is overstating the hashrate, if you're the owner - well... Smiley

Keep in mind that cgminer for gridseeds shows the theoretical hashrate based on the number of chips and frequency. Try setting freq=1000 or chips=2 and you'll see what I mean. In other words, it's meaningless. Use "A:".

You, sir, are very correct. That's exactly how it works. So 2 x 512 = 1 x 1024.
Get it mneehon?

Is China silently conquering Africa?
I would changed that title for this one:
Is China silently conquering the World?

If You look at Your phone or a battery You would probably find a sign saying that it was made in China. Clothes, shoes, Your PC also (at lest some parts) are made in China. Now that may seem like nothing bad but the more things are produced in China the fewer jobs there will be in Europe or USA.
You can say that again!!You won't find just clothes and electronics make "Made in China",last week i saw in a local supermarket ,garlic, and  on the pack was a big "made in china".......why we have garlic from china?we are not able to grow garlic in our country and we have to buy everything from chines Huh?

LOL... Maybe the bag was made in China...?

that guy stoled me 0.5btc, OK?

Ya ya... we all saw that other thread with the screenshots. That's your shit. I'm just curious as to how you came to the conclusion that all these accounts are the same.

I tracked down all the details except the account. OP, how the heck did you get "evidence" that loljosh and templar77 is mintodev?

Ya.... I would love to know your superior "methods" of finding out they are teh same. Think of what could be achieved.... scam devs of ALL the coins so far could be exposed, including Stackcoin, edgecoin, and Asiacoin Smiley Hell, I'll even give you your "stoled" .5 BTC for it  Grin

Well, Asiacoin WAS a scam, and all I did was some simple WHOIS lookup and google searching to find mintodev and Kfahmi or whatever.
2469  Economy / Lending / Re: .015 BTC Loan on: May 06, 2014, 06:22:51 PM
No collateral atm

ANDDDDD There's the problem.

I was assuming since the loan is of little value, no collateral would be required. If it was, say, .05 BTC or higher, I would throw in some more BTCs as collateral.

Why would you ever use BTC collateral for a BTC loan?

"Yeah, I need 40 dollars. I'll give you 20 dollars for it!"

Its common?

No, it's not. You use altcoins for collateral. If you use BTC as collateral when borrowing BTC, you seriously need a mental check.

And.. with altcoins is pretty the same..  why dont you just trade the alts and get your btcs right away.. if you are expexting a rise on the price and it occurs your alts price can overtake alot the price of the loan and your lender can scamm you

First, use escrow or accept a loan from a trusted member. Second, because you believe that the altcoin will rise in price.
If you think BTC price will rise, then why not just hold and keep your BTC?
2470  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is China silently conquering Africa? on: May 06, 2014, 06:14:51 PM
china has too many problems to conquer the world. their economy is starting to sputter. they are currently running it into the ground by expanding real estate at an untenable rate. i don't know the politics of it, but i doubt it's simple.

besides that, china has a history of conquering neighboring lands for natural resources. it's currently in contention with practically every asian country (including india). it also deposed/conquered the tibetan government for natural resources.

Really China economy is starting to spurtter.  There wages are much better then ones of lower class countries. There wage is above 600 USD in some parts ofthere country.  Two months ago they went into a european country to start a  relationship with them so they can probably open more factories.  I dont think there economy is that bad you think it is.

I assure you, the economy is not bad at all, it is improving very well.

Well, no. 2 512 shares = 1 1024 share. The 24 hour average, regardless of difficulty, should be nearly the same.

Rejects are still the same, if not more with low difficulty, since stales are very easily produced.

Hey guys so I am in desire need for $3 in bitcoins.
I got $1.5 but I am not gonna ask you guys for bitcoins.
I am just gonna ask for websites that you can get free bitcoins fast and easy?
Best ones? Ones you suggest?
Thank you Smiley

There is no websites where you can get coins fast and easy and also for free. You could gamble it on a dice game or Martingale it, but obviously you risk losing it.

Have you thought about offering some services or things for sale over on the marketplace?

Or you could simply buy some BTC?

BTW, guy above me, you need to update your PrimeDice signature to the new one.
2473  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is China silently conquering Africa? on: May 06, 2014, 05:37:49 PM
It's not a "real" investment, it's old debt. African states got a large sum of loans from USSR and China during the Cold War time and they're unable to pay it back. You can see that now Russia and China allowing them to default this obligations in exchange for land and rights on deposits of oil, gold, diamond, uranium, nickel, etc. RF started this type of activity in the beginning of 2000s.

Actually, the US also tried this in the past, but China did it much more quickly before the US could.

I read that the US something monetary something department has thought about issuing "Bitcoin Licenses" for bitcoin businesses in the US. Was some article on CoinDesk, not bothered to search though.

Weird. I asked their support, they told me that no one paid with BTC. When did you guys order?

Below is my order:

Order #19597 was placed on April 28, 2014 and is currently processing.
ORDER DETAILS
Product   Total
500GH 3 Month Contract × 1   $375.00
Cart Subtotal:   $375.00
Order Total:   $375.00

Bought using bitpay.com
Methods, Inc.
#19597

Paid: 0.8557 BTC
This invoice has been paid.

Bitpay don't have any action to protect customers. I don't know why they still exist if they don't protect us, because we can transfer BTC without them.

So they lied to me. I asked them many questions on May 1st, and they said that up till then, they still hadn't gotten any BTC payments.

Hiya guys, Every now and then it my -qt will just not update, It's my main one and stays on all the time.

It does not happen on other systems so I know it's something on this one.

It is a win7/64 Ultimate, 1155 I7, R9 280x with 16GB ram (4/4) and 420GB SSD sata 3. I have been using different -qt's, I have been updating behind the trend but it has happened on all of them.

The only way out of this is a -reindex Is there anything else I can check?

For e.g. It will have a green tick, Then It will say one hour behind, Then clock up an hour every hour staying on the block it is stuck on?

It sometimes has up to 32 nodes connected.

It might be connecting to slow nodes or bad nodes. Try picking known good nodes, and use addnode= in the config to specify the nodes.

I just got this board today, upgraded from a Gigabyte H81.amp-UP that I somehow killed.  Same cards (R9 270x), same OS install (usb stick, BAMT 1.6.x) and I was getting about a 50+ Kh/s increase per card!

Only thing I changed was the board, cpu/ram (old ones not compatible with new board) and a different power supply.  I'm going to play with the settings a bit and see if I can get the cards to stably hash at 500Kh/s.  My last setup was getting 440Kh/s with a ton of tuning, so I was rather shocked.

I'm shocked too. My Gigabyte R9 270 is hashing at 480kh/s right now...
