Are we all wearing McDonalds hats with flags now?
Can I have mine with Scanian flags please?

Last one for a bit.  I promised my daughter a visit to the grandparent's place Smiley

Fuck the bears! There.. I said it.

That sounds unhygienic. Who knows where their filthy paws have been.

How about everyone in this thread buys one bitcoin instead. I'm hearing it's super cheap these days.

All my dry powder was gone by 48k.  I'd to have to get another hob to buy more corn!

So It was hot as hell last night and I decided to go outside, naked, to cool of (I live in the countryside). It so happened that I walked in to my neighbors old corral and what I thought was just high grass was also nettles. I stung my legs, butt, and Helmuth and the glockenspiel, I have had a trying night.
Tape works to pull the nettles out but man... you'd have to be really careful  in the nether-regions.

Here is a CURRENT visualization of the "centralized" lightning network!!

Where is that from? I did a quick search and initially, it seems there are at least 12k lightning nodes with open channels. This is even more than the count shown by bitnode / earn other website that tracks regular bitcoin full nodes that are publicly seen (including mine.)

I'd say it's a good thing that both networks have more than 10k nodes each at this time. Each LN node probably doubles as a bitcoin full node too, maybe just not seen (although it both should be visible on the network.)

https://lightninglayer.com/map

 Takes a while to render.

edit: Whoa! It uses a lot of memory as well.  Firefox is using 13 Gigs and counting with that page open.  You can move around, pan, zoom and see the node names on the map.

Weird.  It seems like only yesterday when Paul Tudor Jones introduced them to the compound bow.

its actually a half trillion...there was a typo in the early print

Quote
“If you look at our balance sheet, we have $500 billion in cash, we’ve actually been effectively stockpiling more and more cash waiting for opportunities to invest at higher rates,” Dimon said. “I do expect to see higher rates and more inflation, and we’re prepared for that.”

Wow!  That is some serious inflation!

The solution is simple: Get your head frozen and have this tattoed on your forehead:

In this brain is the seed code for 10btc. Restore me to life and it is yours.

Then when bitcoin will buy entire planets whole civilizations will devote their best scientists to reviving your sorry ass. And when you are revived you give them the 10btc wallet code...

Then walk out with your 100btc wallet code still in your head. And into a bright new future.

It's pretty much foolproof: If bitcoin craters then who wants to be alive for that. And if the world is a crapsack world you just kill yourself again.

...after removing that tattoo from your forehead of course.

Look at how the media is pushing the vaccine so hard and not reporting the side effects or deaths from the vaccine. They say they don't want to report on the side effects because it will discourage people from getting the vaccine but shouldn't we make up our own minds with all available information? It is looking like there will be more deaths from the vaccine than COVID by the time this is done.

It's being pushed because it um...works. Vaccines are like that, they have made diseases like whooping cough and measles and rubella and other nightmares a fading memory. They made tetanus into something that is like "what?" instead of a pretty common death sentence. They make shit work, and they do work. Death rates from Coivid have fallen like a rock with vaccination (ok, and getting rid of those stupid Trump death rallies) in place.

Don't compare this vaccine to the vaccines for whopping cough, measles, rubella and other nightmares because it is not the same.   This is not your father's vaccine.  This new mRNA vaccine does not provide sterilizing immunity against SARS-COV2 virus.  Sterilizing immunity means you don't carry the virus and you can't transmit the virus.   The vaccines for the disease you mention (and other nightmares) were different animals.  This new vaccine will give partial immunity and will likely slow the spread but it doesn't guarantee immunity.

Fully vaccinated people are getting the virus.  It would seem to follow that if they can still get it, they can still transmit it but we won't know until it happens and I believe it will.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta/article-covid-19-outbreak-at-calgary-hospital-linked-to-delta-variant-grows-to/

That is a link to an article that says 10 of the 22 people in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who are presently infected the the Delta variant (from India) were fully vaccinated.

edit: added a table I found for Ontario, Canada

Hello all,

Slush pool closed my account for no reason and kept the balance.

Is this a common bad practice with Slush?

Thanks.

Wild.

No.  It's a feature.  Accounts can be locked and unlocked. You need to sign a message with your address to unlock it.

If this is a scam accusation, you should put it in the scam accusations section and add more detail.  Have you opened a ticket?

You see it don't you? Not everyone does.  I figure MOST of us WO folks do...  Crazy.  We are STILL so early.

It's about to get so crazy.

El Salvador has volunteered to be the first country to go live in PRODUCTION with the lightning network.  They will be richly rewarded for this.

I think those laser eyes are so silly...  But I almost want to put them on all my images now.

There's nothing silly about a 100k bitcoin though Smiley

I had no idea that I needed this so badly!

If only I could remember how to update my avatar?  Have they turned it off?

Click the profile tab and under 'modify profile', click 'forum profile information' then look to the right for Avatar - upload it there.

This could be a serious problem for Western Union.....

Western what?

A very expensive and a shitty service to transfer funds.

I don't want to get into a stone throwing competition but...

These fees aren't exactly inexpensive for purchasing the corn.  While it's always not stated in the coinATMradar.com summary, many machines also charge flat fees.  Close to me, I can pay flat fees of 3 to 15 dollars on top of the exchange rates of 8.5% to 18%.  On top of that, if I don't want to let it scan my ID, I am limited in some cases to $200 max transaction.  Bitcoin is awesome but bitcoin ATMs have some catching up to do.
If I don't get paid in bitcoin and need to convert before sending the coin to my family, I'm going to be gouged at an ATM.

Using Moneygram to send $200US for cash pick up to my mother in El Salvador, it costs me $4.99US - it's neither shitty nor expensive.
Using Western Union to send $200US for cash pick up to my sister in El Salvador, it costs me $11.00US and if that seems like a lot, consider any of the conversion scenarios at my local ATMs (above)

The money gougers are adapting - time for bitcoin ATMs to do the same.
