181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin way forward - Towards $100k or $50k on: March 29, 2024, 10:58:49 PM
In last two week we have seen a fluctuation in the price of Bitcoin as at one point it looked like it will drop to $50k

I'm not sure a drop back to $50k was realistic, actually a big drop back to that was
more of hope by some.

The general thinking/expectation/consensus is that we are really heading in one
direction and thats further away from $50k. This current Bitcoin phase contains
the halving, its a bullish season and coupled with the number of ETF's will
only amplify that, so yea $100k becons.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: March 29, 2024, 09:29:17 PM
Not much luck this round.  Both the Bulldogs and Cowboys played strong, but were beaten by even stronger opponents.

Tonight, as with last night, the Bulldogs "declined to convert the try" hoping to score in the last 90 seconds.  I never knew that was a thing, and like last night, it didn't work.  Both the Roosters and Bulldogs lost.  (they were going to loose anyway).

At best I'll have five from eight this round.

Thats unreal, I've never heard of that either, what is the thinking? is it a gamble to
save the time in converting the try which I guess is about 2 minutes all in all to then
use that saved time as game play to try score another try? Declining 2 points to hope
to score 4 instead.

Its a big risk and an interesting one at the same time but if you are behind its probably
a good tactic, if it doesnt work out you only drop 2 points difference.

I dont think I have ever seen that tactic taken in the Union game....
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 29, 2024, 09:02:42 AM
Grigor Dimitrov beats Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets while also breaking him 4 times in 2 sets. Alcaraz holds one of the best ever win record against Single hand backhand players but that didn't deter Dimitrov from going all out, guns blazing and completely outclassing Alcaraz. Alcaraz, is probably tired of playing and winning so many matches in a row as he had also won the Indian Wells tournament but misses out on the Miami Open.

That just shoots down one of my comments from earlier that Alcaraz is just too
strong for everyone ATM possibly even Sinner. . . and then there is Dimitrov who is
playing super Tennis this season. Just watched the replay, Dimitrov proved in that
match why he was compared 20 years ago to Roger!

Looking forward to the semi finals now, two very appealing line ups, Medvedev
v Sinner, Dimitrov v Zverev. Big question is can Dimitrov reset and repeat?

On the WTA side its Collins v Rybakina, hard to pick a winner here although Rybakina
is favourite at 1.50
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: March 29, 2024, 07:55:22 AM
Ah ok I'm with you now!

Yea I have a feeling the Panthers are making their way up to the number 1 position.

I didnt know the Broncos had players out so yea could be a tough round for them.

URC Round 13

First match up tonight is Leinster v Bulls, the clash if the top 2 teams. Leinster at
hone are still favourites at @1.28, thats probably the vest price they would be all season?

Another very interesting match tomorrow Benetton v Connacht, two teams
positioned 10th and 9th on the table, Connacht have had a mixed season and
Benetton have improved this season and are favourites at 1.27, Connacht at 4.0 -
that just might warrant a small bet on the visitors
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has BTC really become more attractive than gold? on: March 28, 2024, 02:17:08 PM
I have been saying it for years. BTC is way more attractive than gold in terms of investments. Gold is overpriced because people have been using gold as jewellery for millennia, but in the last years it goes more and more out of fashion. And it's only a matter of time when gold will be replaced in all its electronic applications.

and there have been countless threads on the forum here comparing the two and their merits.

TBH I cant see the merit of owning Gold other than that its price moves in a very kind of controlled
way compared to Bitcoin. Its said that the Gold market is controlled? The market has had a range
of €400 from low to high in the last year, from $2000/oz down to $1800/oz and today at $2200/oz.

At todays price I can trade my Bitcoin and get 1KG of Gold, but I would like that actual thing, not a
certificate to say I own 1KG but wait I'm flying to another country and would like to take it with
me but that wont be allowed and how do I keep it safe?

How would you feel if you held 30% of your wealth in Gold while another 30% is appreciating so
much in Bitcoin? a non-performer v's a super performer.

Yup Bitcoin is definitely more attractive than Gold.

186  Economy / Speculation / Re: My instincts on the value of bitcoin from now to halving on: March 28, 2024, 08:37:40 AM
(....)
Do you have some psychological intake or some personal opinion in related to my emotion?
For me, even before, I already thought that on every Bitcoin block halving, we do create a new all-time high, and the rally will always start before the day of the Bitcoin block halving - then we already experienced this, so for me, my target is already achieved.

Next for me is price discovery, since we have a new all-time high, we don't know where will be the resistance of the current cycle, no limitation. This time is crucial, high risk high reward.

Thats pretty much where I stand also, the big run up to a new ATH was kind of unprecedented
and unexpected somewhat by me early on. The Bitcoin market from the halving and after passing
the ATH will be charting new territories - very exciting.

Instincts could somehow be true or not, but one thing is certain, if you do it mixed with good analysis, you will come up with a more reliable prediction. However, when it comes to bitcoin’s volatility, no one gets certain whether the current price would be the last rise, or there would be another rise that will appear in the market. But if we look at its previous bitcoin halving, there might be surprising highs and lows that will suddenly appear in the market, and all we have to do is to prepare for it and not fall from FUDs and FOMO that may lead to panic selling.

Panic selling will only happen to those who don't have a basic guideline or strategy as to why they should hold on and buy more when it goes down. Fundamentals and a combination of analysis will give you an idea of how the market will move, beginners must know that so they can prepare themselves to face the market without panic. FUD and FOMO will only come in turns, this can be utilized well and don't get caught in between.

There may be a lot of shorting happening ATM with the expectations that there will be a panic sell
off around the halving. I know its not panic selling but if those short trades get realised it will
cause a further dip and could then lead to panic selling. Who know's?
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: March 28, 2024, 08:27:21 AM
I thought you were going to hold off for a week or two?

For the first match I dont think I would bet against the Panthers

Broncos against the Cowboys is an interesting fixture, the Cowboys the only unbeaten side so far
against the Broncos who should be making moves to get back up to the top, the odds suggest it
could be a close one - 2.12 v 1.81

Rabbitohs v Bulldogs - Rabbitohs are favourite to win this and to try and lift themselves off the bottom
of the ladder. If they dont it will be a shocking start to the season for them. 1.51 v 2.90
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe someone knows who the address belongs to? on: March 28, 2024, 03:31:49 AM

Thank guys.
And is there a representative of the kucoin support team on this forum?
You can try to contact TalkStar who is still active on Bitcointalk recent days.

The user worked with Kucoin exchange in the past and surely had contact points to Kucoin but still has it in 2024 or not, you have to ask TalkStar. 4 years is a long time in cryptocurrency market and exchange staffs come and go.

I wrote to him and I'm waiting..

Kucoin suport replied, and confirmed that my btc deposited to one from users...further communication is difficult because have to wait a week or longer for an answer .

This will be interesting to see how this proceeds. At least the exchange has replied to
your email.

Obviously you hope the outcome will result in your funds being returned and there
will likely be a process.

Has anyone made a request like this before and been successful and got their
funds returned?

Best of luck with it OP
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New EU AML ban bitcoin anonymous payment on: March 27, 2024, 09:54:42 PM
Unfortunately the EU governments already know too much about Bitcoin and Crypto transactions
when it goes through KYC exchanges and bank accounts. This new ruling is another step in them
trying to identify more and more who is doing what.

Its about reducing anonymity and increasing control.

We can still do mini transactions and still do P2P trades for cash. As long as there is Cash then
transactions can still be untraceable.
190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 27, 2024, 09:12:45 PM
Musetti is definitely showing signs of improvement over the last few tournaments, he will
be more of a force as he gets stronger and stronger. The way Alcaraz is playing I dont think
anyone can beat him, I dare to say even Sinner might not do it. He is surely on for the "Sunshine Double".

Its interesting to see all top 4 seeds competing for the 4 spots in the quarter finals, Sinner
is first through after beating Machac

Another surprising result (at least for me) is Murray defeating Etcheverry and going further into the Round of 32! Very nice performance by the British veteran! He is going to meet Machac tonight.
Bad news for Andy Murray fans because he announced that he was injured again so he will be out for some time and that is quite unfortunate.

Yes its unfortunate and very frustrating for him. I was watching the match when he
got injured and his frustration was visible, he knows its going to take longer now to
heal than he would if he was younger, he is missing out on game time and its a step back
for him.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 26, 2024, 11:12:57 PM
Medvedev has just won the first set against German player Koepfer at tie break (7-5).
It was not easy at all... but after this score odds in favor of Russian player collapsed below @1.05
Let's see what has to offer the second set but I don't think here we can see any surprise anymore

Yea it looks like the same players are edging towards the final stages as Indian Wells,
Medvedev, Sinner won today also and I'm just watching Alcaraz v Musetti ATM and
Alcaraz looks just too strong.

Two in form players coming up next de Minaur v Marozsan. de Minaur is favourite but
Marozsan for under 21.5 @ 2.22 is very tempting...

Iga Swiatek shockingly loses to world no. 16th Alexandrova. Odds on Alexandrova to win were over 8x. Talking about unexpected losses, Musetti beats American teenage sensation Ben Shelton in straight sets.

No sunshine double for Iga, its an upset for sure losing at this stage of the competition,
not even getting to the semi's and its not the first time.
192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boeing whistleblower John Barnett murdered on the day of his testimony on: March 26, 2024, 07:36:14 PM
There I was thinking that it's only in Africa, that you'd find corruption in government and the untouchables, now it's clear that it's human nature for the powerful to oppress the common man and conceal the truth if it'll go against them. In the Boeing whistleblower's case, it could be that the pressure of the case got him emotional and he took his own life or perhaps some illness, but we can not rule out the possibilities of murder, because he had already opened up a can of worms, and heads were going to role at the end of the case, so silencing him will was their best option.

Don't speak too much of it also. Remember we are commoners also.

The media plays an important role in what they are doing though. The issues are going to be buried down when more terrible stuff happens. Boeing is bankrupt but forget about that becuase Moscow attacked by terrorists is more gruesome to talk about, that's what the media will feed the people.

Thats it, this news of the death of John Barnett will only last only a short while, we
are fed news from all around the world, stuff that doesnt necessarily concern us, like
5 people killed somewhere in South America in a bus accident, terrible as it is we
dont need to know about it.

Boeing operating under shady work practices which affect safety to workers and to
their product is something we all need to know about.

I have to say though that I wasnt aware of this whistleblower and TBH after a little reading
it seems way too shady that
he is no longer with us.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barnett_(whistleblower)

Quote
After he failed to report for his third day of deposition in his retaliation lawsuit against
Boeing, he was found dead of a gunshot wound. The Charleston County coroner
described the wound as self-inflicted. His death is being investigated by the Charleston
Police Department.
193  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC dip again? on: March 26, 2024, 11:20:28 AM
I hope you bought it when the price was around $64k. Waiting for Bitcoin to get to $50k now before you buy is not a very smart thing. I think we were lucky to see bitcoin go down to 60k+ recently, that was an opportunity for people to have money to buy.
Ev a $70k, it is still not a bad price to buy because if you look at the trajectory of Bitcoin, it is almost certain that you'll get at least 30% of your investment this year.

I doubt Bitcoin will get to $50k again soon because with halving around the corner, it is speculated that the price will keep going up. Even if the price will dip again, I doubt it will go below $60k.
With DCA, you might be able to buy Bitcoin at good prices and maximize your profit.
in my opinion bitcoin will never go below $60k again as you said not until this bullrun finished we all know that people have learned the pattern, when the price dipping around the date when halving is just right on the corner people already know that the sudden dipping is just a sign of an even bigger rally thats why there are people readying money to bag bitcoin and as a result the recent price dipping wasn't really that impactful and could recover quite rather easily.

i'm sure how bitcoin gonna move will differ this time around, but one thing for sure is that the price might get into the point of $100k because so many people are bullish, institutions are bullish, even the ETF are selling like a hot cakes.
its overall good scenery for bitcoin in my thinking, but we will see, if we truly want to profit at the peak, be a diamond hand, i've learnt from my experience being a paper hand will do no good even more so for investment like bitcoin.

I agree also as do the majority that Bitcoin is not going back to $60k and lower but there are
some who believe it will and are holding out for that time while in the meantime the markets
are going in the opposite direction!

For those of you out there who are planning on buying more coins
like me when the market dips, have you guys set a target price where
you will buy?

Nope, not setting any targets to buy, I buy whenever I can and practice DCA and if I have
something extra when there is a correction I buy then also. I dont hold cash to buy at lower
prices than today. I have learned a long time ago that the markets dont always go in the
direction I hope they do. I'm not a trader and I dont have the time to scrutinise the markets
for hours per day. I just buy when i can because in the long run I will be in profit.
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countdown to the 4th Bitcoin halving.. what should we expect? on: March 25, 2024, 09:54:10 PM
Well just based on what has happened around previous halvings the Bitcoin price will climb
for approximately 12 months after the halving. How high will that go? this a very intriguing
question...there are very different forces in play this time around - as in ETF's.

There will be corrections on the journey after the halving too but generally overall there
should be a rise.

I just cant help thinking that the reduced Bitcoin block reward couple with the ETF buy
pressure will play out in the Supply v's Demand.

Price ? pure guess at over $150k conservative guess
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 25, 2024, 06:12:51 PM
Sinner v O'Connell in 2021 compared to 3 years later is a different match up. I would be very
surprised if the result was the same as back then. I'm not saying its impossible, just surprised.

The last two matches of the day are very interesting, Musetti v Shelton and Alcaraz v Monfils.
I might do a handicap bet on Monfils, he's been playing fantastic, Under 21.5 @ 1.63.

Medvedev has also made it through to the round of 16 beating Norrie
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: March 25, 2024, 01:59:59 PM
That was a bit of a mad weekend in the NRL, top teams losing out to teams they should
be beating or matches that should be close affairs ending up white washes. . .

Roosters 48 - 6 Rabbitohs - This should have been closer
Warriors 32 - 0 Titans - For the Titans not to score is crazy,  any team not to score really.
Dragons 24 - 46 Cowboys - 70 point match, the crowd got their moneys worth there.
Wests Tigers 32 - 6 Sharks - Thats a strange result, a lot of bets had to have been lost.

I totally missed out on the URC at the weekend, didnt do ant bets and didnt see any matches,
Round 13 coming up this weekend. I'll post about that later when I see whats happening.

Bitcoin 190K in 2024?

$190k is not a very high target for bitcoin in this bull cycle. Personally, I am optimistic and believe that bitcoin can reach that number but I don't think it will happen this year. I predict that 2025 will be a boom year for bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency market and we will see bitcoin reach its ATH in 2025 instead of later this year.

In addition, I am also optimistic that this bull cycle will last longer than the previous ones because we have many catalysts in this bull run. I consider this a super bullish cycle.

Yea I am optimistic too actually. Look at how the market jumped from ~$40k to ~$74k
in a matter of weeks! If it wasnt for all the ETF approvals I would say $190k was absolutely
pie in the sky prediction but because of the buy pressures from ETF's going forward and
the cut in block reward I think we can reach $190k!

As for price plans dor selling - I dont have any, I'm certainly not setting it at $190k,
that might very well be selling too early, I will wait and see where we end up early 2025 I think.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 24, 2024, 09:47:16 PM
I am also stoked to see Osaka through to the round of 32 after beating Svitolina, she
now faces Garcia only the fourth time this year!, Fourth time lucky perhaps,
She does seem to be getting stronger with more match time and she is favourite at 1.43,
I'll try a straight bet.
With Osaka talent was always there, problem is mental state. I don't know what is happening with here and if she is in "good place" now but she is not going on any tickets I am playing. One wrong word from the audience is all it takes for her to break apart, there is just too much variables involved to bet on her. I feel sorry for her and would love that she manages to overcome those issues but I can't even phantom circumstances that made it happen first time. I hear much worse almost on daily basis when playing with my mates  Grin

I always thought that Osaka would keep on winning more grandslams after her first US Open in 2018, but her mental state is indeed the problem. She could probably be greatly helped with a sport psychologist and be on the right track. For some sports man it has done wonders, best example is probably Ronnie O Sullivan. The greatest talent of all time but his mental state was not the best, he started working with a sport psychologist and since then he is back on the winning track and keeps breaking record after record.

Im following her but not betting on her, as Trofo posted I'm waiting to see how she performs.

I'm watching Griekspoor v Sinner but following the Garcia v Osaka scoreboard and she lost
the first set on a tie break and its on serve in the second.

She said herself she is working on her mental state, the talent is there, I think she is getting
stronger.

Anyway Sinner is back on track in the third set so there shouldnt be another upset.
Rune got despatched by the giant killer Marozsan 6-1, 6-1, anyone have a bet on the Hungarian?
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 24, 2024, 09:18:25 AM
^
Yea and I agree with you there too but unfortunately we cant manufacture our own player
pool, that will happen organically. On a positive note the GOAT's have laid down a legacy and
a target for other players to work hard to try and emulate their successes. There are records
there which I would like to see broken, hopefully there is someone to do that.

And also from a betting point of view, there is definitely money to be made when there are
the likes of those top 3 players around.

And on top players Sinner plays today against countryman Vavassori and is 1.02 favourite,
best to parlay him with someone else like Humbert 1.23 who plays against van de Zandshulp
and maybe Paul 1.10 who plays Damm?

There is really no use in using that odds in parlays; yes they are the big favorite but surprises always happen and there is simply no value in odds like that. Everybody has a different strategy but more often than not, the bet with the lowest odd in a parlay will fail. I don't really play a lot of parlays anymore, prefer single value bets.

...and surprise surprise Paul is out after getting injured so yea anything can happen.

I dont do that many parlays myself and as Trofo above points out a handicap can
be more rewarding.

Sabalenka is out of Miami Open: she lost to the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina in three sets - 4:6, 6:1, 1:6!

Another surprising result (at least for me) is Murray defeating Etcheverry and going further into the Round of 32! Very nice performance by the British veteran! He is going to meet Machac tonight.

Yes Murray defeating Etcheverry a seeded player is kind of surprising alright and in
two sets.

200  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go back to $40K - $30K range before a bigger rally? on: March 23, 2024, 03:33:31 PM
Currently anything can happen to be honest. Bitcoins are really going up and down in every hours. The traders are playing an important role in manipulating the price as I can see. They are buying at bulk quantity for which the price going up and similarly selling at large quantities for which the price also coming down. Most probably we will see a correction in the price before halving only. I am assuming Bitcoins will rest at 55k usd for now. Let’s see what happens next.

Some whales are playing on the crypto market because the price on daily time frame shows the obvious breakeven which means that it’s a target trading. However the overview of the Bitcoin chart is already showing a bearish movement that usually incomes with sharp correction if there’s no more whales playing the price.

I’m not expecting that the price will rally even after halving. This kind of strong price rally usually follow by sharp correction then long sideways until it will rally again for a possible new ATH.

Yea anything can happen but it would want to be something massive like and FTX
going down to affect the markets this close to the halving

Its true that directly after the last halving for example Bitcoin took a bit of a drop but
look what happened shortly after that. Someone mentioned to me during the week that
the markets have previously corrected down 30 days before the halving? would be
interested to see some chart snapshots confirming that...

but as I posted previously I cant see an absolute nightmare selloff to collapse to
$30k or $40k
