...my 2 Satoshi from a dude who just ships packages!! Tongue Cheesy

Ahhh...you do a lot more than that for this community.  Wink

Yea and he runs very smooth auctions on a weekly basis! more than just a box shipper!

After reading through the 10 pages of that auction it really did turn into a complete
mess and cant understand why there wasnt a re-run obviously the winners of
the 14 lots are kind of happy since they won something but it was clearly a flawed
and compromised auction.

The OP should have forseen that it was going to be a frenzied finish and difficult
to keep track. I feel sorry for the people who were kind of hard done by.

Yea it doesnt matter who it was but he/she had a long term vision for Bitcoin, I wonder
if they are still in Bitcoin what they thought of the ATH? they had a vision of $10,000!

I didnt go past the first page but its interesting to read those old comments and thoughts
from 12 years ago and the 3rd poster Garrett Burgwardt from that thread was on the forum today!

People that understand the law of demand and supply with how bitcoin was in more than 10 years ago would have known this would happen and it happened. This has become the past, but can people that have just started to know about bitcoin still achieve this in the some years to come? I do not think so, I do not think bitcoin can make people rich as it was like before, but I believe that bitcoin can still go 50x or more in the next 10 years which is not small too.

Absolutely, I suppose if anyone had a good understanding of Bitcoins deflationary
system they would surely have understood the supply v demand concept. I hope
those people are still Bitcoiners.

I always feel worried when I am out of Bitcoin, just because this fella have a vision of 10k per Bitcoin doesn't mean once that dream comes to life he will sell and never look back, I have a 100k Bitcoin dream in 2025 or 2026 and once that comes true I am selling 90% of all my Bitcoin, I am doing this to take profit and all those gains are still going back into Bitcoin, when a massive correction takes place.

My Bitcoin vision is to go full retirement, using Bitcoin at the highest bag in my portfolio,  I salute those that are early with Bitcoin, I doubt I will have the same vision at that time because Bitcoin was still very new and its survival chance will look very low.

You have your vision of $100k - and beyond, just like back in 2011 as per the thread
we talk about even later years there are visionaries who can see into the future and
those who just dont get it and are doubtful to this day, I guess there will always be both,
the trick is to know who to follow!

Your plan for 2025 / 26 is not dissimilar to many others and there have been planty
of people who have been riding the waves of the Bitcoin Halving for the past ones,
probably some from the first ones, they too are visionaries just like our guest friend from 2011!

I didnt go past the first page but its interesting to read those old comments and thoughts

It seems the user you mentioned above was still active until now, do you think still the same person behind that account, if that is so that's great.
I quickly check his profile it seems got a negative tag.

Good question SS, is it still the same person?

I do not see Cerundolo as someone who will manage to play over 5 sets against Rune. Rune is the favourite in this match. It will not be an easy match for him, but 5 sets? I do not think so.

Cerendulo was able to makes this match into 5 sets after set 4 could take it relatively easily, the fifth set was a very tight match and Cerendulo almost made it his win but the last two point tie break that Rune got due to a mistake by Cerendulo, so the quarterfinals will be pitted against two Danish tennis player Rune vs Ruud.

Thats was an unbelievable result, I know Trofo mentioned that neither Rune or Ruud
would have an easy day but Rune in particular had a tough 5 setter. I really thought
Rune would have made it easier but well done to Cerundolo for taking the match
to the limit, losing in the tie break.

Now again we see Rune v Ruud, lets see if Ruud can get payback for his loss to
Rune at the Rome semi Final? he is slight favourite and thats where my bet is going.

1148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Purpose of purchasing bitcoin! on: June 05, 2023, 12:35:27 PM
The purpose for which we all buy bitcoin is for money, for profit, nothing more and nothing less. What you mention are everyone's plans and goals, and no two will be the same. I don't think someone invests in bitcoin without a purpose. But investing in bitcoin is not for everyone, if you have a specific strategy and plan, you will succeed. But if you invest without a plan and invest blindly because you think it's easy, you will lose.
This is not correct because you are seeing it as investment purpose or considering it as an asset only but the main aim behind bitcoin creation was to provide an alternative way for payment others then fiat with decentralised nature. You see merchants and companies accepting it now so it is being used to make payments as well so your explanation doesn't sound right to me.People see profits in it so they holf it but this doesn't make it only for that purpose.

But fortunately or unfortunately Bitcoin is seen as an investment to make money in
the future. It has become much more than just a decentralised payment system,
but it still is that...with added benefits.

Me - I dont use a centralised FIAT bank to store my "wealth" I prefer the Bank of Bitcoin
which offers:

Self custody
Network security
Borderless transportability
Permissionless wealth transfer
Deflationary system of money/investment

All the favourite players had an easy win today in Rolland Garros and won 3 0 except for khachanov who struggled in the first set against sonego before making adjustments and win with the score of 3 to 1, so far it seems that either alcaraz or djokovic will be the winner but there are some names to look out for like Rune, tsitsipas and maybe zverev if he is back in his top shape.
Other than the match between Khachanov and Sonego, everything ended in direct sets. In this tournament each and every player who are exceptional in performance in recent tournaments have reached the Quarter finals. More to get qualified in my view were Ruud, Rune, Zverev and Nishioka. Lets see who have got to be the person to lift the trophy and win the title that is more popular than many other tournaments.

Yes - of the 4 matches yesterday Tsitsipas and Djokovic had what seemed easy draws
against Of er and Varillas which is reflected on the scores.

The other two Alcaraz and Khachanov had tougher draws but it was Alcaraz who made
it look easy against Musetti who is a very very good player.

Today Rune and Ruud should progress but Nishioka v Etcheverry I wouldnt know which
way to bet on that and Dimitrov v Zverev is the same - difficult choices...

1151  Economy / Economics / Re: Will chatgpt really destroy the job market? on: June 04, 2023, 02:45:03 PM
Technology improves people's standard of living and hence should be welcomed. Recently some people may have temporary difficulties because Chat GPT is approaching something that was never imagined. Because of that, there will definitely be difficulties in some workplaces. This matter has already been widely discussed in various media of the world. Many people are going to lose their jobs. But there is another point that is emphasized that this risk is more for those who perform online based tasks because Chap GT is able to do any simple task in a short time. So with the development of technology, people have no choice but to keep up-to-date quickly.
I think it depends on the technology because there are also some who only destroy the peoples lives. It also depends on the people. As long as they use the Technology properly and have limitations, they will only attain the benefits and not the disadvantages. I don't know what happens to Chatgpt on why some are having a difficulty.

This is only just a software and people can just ignore it if it is making their lives miserable. If it's about losing a job, I don't think workers will allow this shit to take over. Given that there are risks when using a Chatgpt, business owners aren't likely considering this as a replacement to the human workers. If this affects their company, that will be a big problem instead of being practical.

Exactly, companies wouldn't risk their reputation by just using AI as their tool to their work. Its actually not a good idea especially when it got leaked that some companies are relying into AI instead of doing some research which is more accurate. Some people think it could replace the workers but it won't since it's just a convenient tool made for us, but in our history there's a lot of job that has been overtaken by the technology already but so far in this new introduced AI it wouldn't be a threat. Companies still need a brain where it could do tasks that AI couldn't do like emailing.

At the moment its just a convenient tool made for us. Why do people bother to use it
and make it more and more acceptable to do so?

At what point will someone engage AI to research a particular topic and use ChatGPT
to research the internet instead of hiring a human to do so?

A "convenient tool" can easily become too convenient and the go-to means because its
a "convenient FREE tool"

At what point in the future with engaging AI instead of a human to do research
become the everyday norm? if it means humans can save money it will become
the everyday norm, we generally ignore warning signs if it challenges our ability to
make more and more money.
1152  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] Krogothmanhattan x Polymerbit: Customer DIY key generation with Trezor on: June 04, 2023, 01:13:43 PM
Sounds great. Glad to see some thought put into this from respected creators. Reminds me of the process Ballet uses to create their wallets on their cards. Requiring both key and validation phrase to use, with each created independently.

I would love to test this out, have plenty of Trezors laying around that could be reset or dedicated to this process for me.

Personally, I would put the pasphrase under a second hologram on the note so it is secure and not lost. Might be nice to include space on the note for this along with a second hologram. Becomes a new form of DIY.

Curious to see what comes of this. Great work.

Geo

Yes I like this and commend both Polymerbit and krogothmanhattan working through a
solution to a problem which has been looming and brought to light by Yogg.

i also find this idea very interesting and have already talked about it with polymerbit, how we could implement this in Icarus and when exactly.
it would also be very helpful to know if you can do this procedure with other hw-wallets like bitbox2, foundation passport and so on - because not all crypto collectors own a Trezor. but i think there should be no problems here either Wink

i will meet with dan this week, then we can talk/discuss further about bip38 - looking forward to it

If this solution works along with other open source HW wallets it will cement the
trust back into loading collectibles. It might also be fitting to have the Icarus project be the
first to impliment a >HW wallet customer DIY key generated collectible<

The West Tigers look to be clawing their way out of the black hole they were in trailing at first they lost by just one point at full time.

I'm seriously considering betting on them depending on who they come up against in the next few weeks.

Ooooh thats a big move, yes I like that they are and seem to have improved their results,
personally I might wait a bit before having so much confidence though.

I'm not one who would want to see the same teams year after year winning and populating
the top of the ladder so I like the mixup which is happening, its not great, actually its
$hite for my wagers this season!

Seeing the Broncos back on top is great actually.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 04, 2023, 09:44:48 AM
It seems that we will not see Nadal on the tennis courts for a long time, certainly not this year and maybe only next year.
After such a long tennis break, how ready will Nadal be for top tennis and can we expect him to play at the top level again and try to win the GS in Paris again?
It seems to me that we are now looking at the end of a great tennis career and that the way is now open for Djokovic to win a record number of GS titles.
What do you think?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/65798097

I think it will be the end of Nadal and that after Federer he will be the next to retire. Both Federer and Nadal didn’t really have major injuries in the beginning but once you get older, your body is more prone to injuries and heals slower. Djokovic will probably win one or more grandslams but we with the upcoming superstar (Alcaraz) it will be not so easy for him.

Yes, for Nadal it seems the end of his career is near. Next year he's turning what? 38? For his style of play it's like Roger turning 45. I fear his body is refusing to go on with this exhausting rhythm. And I'm not so sure about Djokovic as well. He had a number of injuries this year, most notable an elbow injury, possibly issues with his back. Frankly, I don't see him winning RG this year.

Indeed it is looking quite ominous for Nadal's playing career and especially winning
more Grand Slam titles. It seems to be the life expectancy of a tennis players career of
the mid 30's.

It seems that seyboth wild journey in the French open has come to an end the only impressive performance he showed was against medvedev when he beat him despite being a heavy underdog but today against nishioka he lost unexpectedly, nishioka will face etcheverry next he has a good chance making it to the quarter final.

This is a problem with lower ranked players on atp tour. Once they win a big match against a big player from top 5 or top 10 they think they have done a big thing. But then they lose against an opponent that is on the same level as them or worst. In womens tennis its different . But still i think we can expect more from him in the future.
They don't have the consistency in performance. Altmaier, who won against Sinner in a very competing match have lost to Dimitrov in a very easy way 6-4 6-3 6-1. In the match between Zverev and Tiafoe, both are giving tough competence. Tiafoe have won a set and Zverev is in must win situation in the second set and it looks like the set will move to tie breaker.

Zverev v Tiafoe is still under way and Sascha won the second set 7:6 and then took the third one easily 6:1. It's now 2:2 in the 4th set and things are looking promising for the German. If you're looking for a last minute bet perhaps it's a nice opportunity to bet on Zverev.

TBH I'm surprised he has come so far, maybe he is regaining his confidence slowly
on the clay court, and I believe that was his main issue recently, his confidence after
the bad injury he had last year. He plays a tough opponent in Dimitrov next.

BOOM - Broncos beat the Sharks!

Thats a brilliant result from Brisbane'rs, this kinda makes them into being the real deal,
if they continue their level of performance they will definitely reach the finals.

Tomorrows games sees

Roosters play the Bulldogs . Roosters are 10th, they need to start making moves into the
top of the ladder.

Cowboys play Storm, based on the last 13 rounds and the fact that the Cowboys have
"strayed off the trail" from last year it has to be Storms game!

1156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Individuals attached to Bitcoin history on: June 03, 2023, 04:03:39 PM
In my mind there are 2 groups of people in the Bitcoin story and many many individuals
collectively who are attached to Bitcoins history story, I kind of categorise them as:

Pre Bitcoin - because they no doubt had an influence on Satoshi's development of Bitcoin.
I created a thread already about these early cryptographers >
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217348.msg53597623#msg53597623

Bitcoin - those involved between Bitcoins launch in 2009 and today.

The most notable early people have already been mentioned.

Another which should be added is:
Mark Karpelčs - the CEO of MtGox, the destruction of MtGox is massive in Bitcoins history
and while not exactly being a hero like Satoshi or Hal what happened to that exchange is very notable

Bitcointalk history of MtGox and how a Bitcointalk post caught the MtGox hacker.
1157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10% Cashback by paying with Bitcoin in more than 250 Shops in Lugano on: June 03, 2023, 11:52:00 AM
Damn thats misleading!

I was thinking before reading through the thread that I would just take the reward and
put it straight back into Bitcoin by using a Bitcoin ATM, I'm sure there are some in Lugano.

I wouldnt be interested in using any $hit token just to get 10% back in it after spending
my precious Bitcoin.

It sounds like a scam to get value into that LVGA and fooling people into thinking
there is some value in it.
1158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 03, 2023, 05:23:09 AM
By the way, now there is a match going on and it is quite interesting between Djokovic and Davidovich.
I bet a win for Djokovic in this match.
I believe the odds are very low on the money line for Djokovic to win around @1.10, if you bet then congrats on the profit even though it's not something that's quite exciting because it's small and if you watched the match it wasn't an easy match for Djokovic especially the first and second set because both were passed through a tie break with the same tight score, Djokovic was more focused on the tie break so he didn't let Fokina win the tiebreaker. The third set was relatively easy too because Fokina made so many mistakes that made it easier for Djokovic to get points.
In yesterday's match, apart from Rublev and Hurkacz, both lost in 5 sets, all the top seeds could advance, especially Mussetti, who did not get tough resistance from Norrie and Musetti will face Alcaraz in the next round.

I cant remember ever betting on Davidovic Fokina, he is very talented and has a lot
of skills but his mental strength is not as good as many others and especially over
5 sets against the top players he will struggle unfortunately.

Musetti v Alcaraz, the way Alcaraz is playing here at RG he is going to be hard to beat.
Is he on the same side of the draw as Djokovic?

Interestingly this brazilian guy Seyboth Wild plays again today against Nishioka,
Seyboth Wild is favourite at 1.52!
1159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 02, 2023, 09:51:56 PM
At this moment Novak is playing against Alejandro and it seems that without many surprises Novak is winning and could end the game with victory, something that is expected to happen even before the game started, he was already coming to this game as the Big favorite so I hope he wins the game. also in a few minutes we will have the game of Stefanos Tsitsipas against Diego Sebastián Schwartzman, in this game also the favorite which is Tsitsipas is also being seen as a likely winner, with odds of @1.10 in favor of Tsitsipas I don't see any surprises in this game , so in my opinion Tsitsipas will come out of this game with victory

then we will have the game of Carlos Alcaraz against Denis Shapovalov, also in this game the favorite that Carlos Alcaraz has a very low odd, something like @1.04 honestly is very low against Denis Shapovalov's @12.00, I wonder if anyone will have the courage to bet on Denis Shapovalov to win this game, Denis Shapovalov occupies the number 32 position and has been a player who doesn't focus much on the games, this is visible because of his behavior during the games, while the one who currently occupies the number 1 is one of the big favorites to win this tournament, in my opinion we won't see any surprises in this game, Alcaraz will win the game

Tsitsipas played an easy game because Schwartzman was disappointing. Except for a few moments when Schwartzman demonstrated his quality, he failed to play even average tennis most of the time. If it wasn't for Tsitsipas who had some series of unforced errors I think in the second and the third set, it would have been over even faster than that. Tsitsipas was of course the favorite in this game, but I did expect Schwartzman to be a bit harder to beat.

Djokovic is going toe-to-toe with essentially everyone on and off the court! He is fully into politics and doesn't hold back with his opinion even though it is not allowed. The stadium booed at him because he also provoked the crowd and his opponent kind of when he cheered about his second set win in an unusually happy way. Even though he is going to be the best in terms of Grand Slam titles won, he has never been the most popular at all. Not that it is necessary, but he likes to be hated and he shows it.

No Schwartzman is not having a great season this year. It was easy enough for
Tsitsipas 2-6, 2-6 & 3-6. He plays Ofner, the guy who killed my bet on Fognini
today and Korda earlier in the week, does he pose a real threat to Tsitsipas?

Djokovic - I think his popularity has waned a bit iver the last few years, hitting a
line judge at the US Open in 2020, then the messing around with the COVID vaccine
didnt win him much brownie points.

Ouch, Wests Tigers beaten by 1 point!

With 1 second to go and a missed field goal attempt it was extremely close, thats a pity
for them really after beating the Panthers to come close to taking a second win.

Big Big game tomorrow 2 plays 3 - Sharks v Broncos, the Broncos are underdogs @ 2.7,
can they pull off a win away to the Sharks?

Of the top teams from last year they have lost to the Panthers, Raiders, Rabbitohs, Storm.
They have beaten the Eels and Cowboys but we cant count them because they have
lost to almost everyone at this stage.

Going by this season I would back the Sharks but I would like to back the Broncos!
