Why is this listed as off-topic?  Huh Huh

OP update. About 2300XBT was bought in the past 3 days

It could be done but your approach won't work at all. To destroy coin the simplest way to send to OP_RETURN
1805  Economy / Speculation / Re: It is obvious there is huge selling waiting at $1000 mark - Will you sell too? on: November 21, 2013, 10:51:24 AM
well, i would sell at $990, just in case it crash again

Then I would sell at $980, then you would sell at $970, then I would sell at $960.........

Conclusion: No one will be selling at $1000
1806  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blocks are [not] full. What's the plan? on: November 21, 2013, 04:49:17 AM
We may use total bitcoin day destroyed as the tie-break for a fork. I guess Satoshi had a similar idea?
Cool Huh

796不也是香港注冊的嗎?

第一天就很多人(包括我)說GBL是騙子網站, 不信的人損失了都是活該, 和香港有什麼關係?

SON OF A BITCH

I put in a sell market order at the 4000 CNY wall.

"Pending" popped up, everything looked good.

Some motherfucker dumped right ahead of me and I filled at 3900...

Ah well.

You shouldn't make a market order, especially during the volatile period
1809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hypothesis: BTCChina is completely fake (with evidence) on: November 19, 2013, 04:42:05 PM
As I said in the other thread, I can ALWAYS sell at those insane high price and get the CNY in my account within 24 hours. So the price is REAL. The volume is inflated simply due to free transaction.

Their site may be down from time to time, but that's nothing worse than gox or stamp

In addition to btcchina, I can also sell on other Chinese exchanges with similar price and received CNY withdraw too.
1810  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 04:36:47 PM
as i learned some days ago ( Tongue) a closer look to this won't do any harm in the near future:
http://blockchain.info/charts/bitcoin-days-destroyed?timespan=1year&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

A lot of frozen coins wait for the moment to be warmed up and spread to the masses...or am I wrong with that assumption?

1813  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 03:54:44 AM
More and more am I starting to believe that BTCChina is (for a large part) fake.

- Their volume reports are ridiculous. On the 3 minute chart they have almost exclusively 300 btc per candlestick.
- The whole rise-up at BTC-China seems orchestrated. Every sharp rise is nicely crafted into a short dip which then recovers in order to make others believe that it's safe to buy

And most compellingly

- During the crash the volume stays _THE SAME_ throughout. There is a sharp drop, but no panic selling at all! The volume is constant. This does not make any sense to me.
- Notice how every downward candle towards is also attempted to be caugt immediately - many many intermittent recoveries during a crash. It just doesn't make sense.

It's almost as if the whole exchange is scripted to make fake orders to amplify any movements seen on Gox. Zero trading fees would allow this.

=== I'm just speculating here ===

I can testify that's true. I sold at those ridiculous price and always got the CNY out

1816  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: November 18, 2013, 08:07:18 AM
Since the BIT has stopped reporting the daily total assets value, the daily update of this thread is stopped. The data before May 2015 is kept here for record.

__________________________

This thread is to follow the NAV and the estimated XBT holding of the SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust. All information could be found on the BIT webpage (http://www.bitcointrust.co/).

This will be constantly maintained. Please consider to donate if you like this table.

Warning: all raw data was publicly available on BIT website. It is suspected that they occasionally provides faulty data. Interpret the data with cautious, especially when there is a big movement in total bitcoin holding.

Method:
1. Figures of Net asset value (NAV) and total assets value (TAV) are taken from http://www.bitcointrust.co/ or http://grayscale.co/bitcoin-investment-trust/
2. Actual Bitcoin holding (ABH) is published occasionally on http://www.bitcointrust.co/ (within the investor presentation)
3. Raw estimated Bitcoin holding (REBH) = TAV / NAV * 0.1
4. Normalization factor (NF) = ABH / REBH
5. NF for each day is derived in a linear manner
6. Estimated XBT holding = REBH * NF

* XBT is the unofficial ISO4217 code for bitcoin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217#Without_currency_code)

** Estimated figures are subject to rounding error. The estimated XBT amount may deviate from the actual amount by at most a few hundreds of XBT.

*** Negative figures could be due to rounding error.

**** Normalization factor is needed as SecondMarket is taking fee and each share represents less than 0.1XBT (actual amount not announced).

Since the BIT has stopped reporting the daily total assets value, it is not possible to update the table daily like before. Instead, it will be updated with a different style, mainly to show the actual or estimated Bitcoin holding the BIT. Previous data are still available at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=337486.msg3620848#msg3620848

Method:
1. Figures of Net asset value (NAV), total assets value (TAV), Total Share Outstanding, and XBT per Share are taken from http://www.bitcointrust.co/ or http://grayscale.co/bitcoin-investment-trust/
2. Total XBT holding = Total Share Outstanding * XBT per Share

* XBT is the unofficial ISO4217 code for bitcoin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217#Without_currency_code)

** Estimated figures are subject to rounding error.

*** Negative figures could be due to rounding error.

1818  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: November 17, 2013, 01:56:57 PM
I came to this thread late and it may have been mentioned before, but the other day over on Twitter @puellavulnerata mentioned an interesting idea that may be combined with this:

https://twitter.com/puellavulnerata/status/401366089159815168

The idea is to use coinbase transactions for mixing. People would send payments to a cooperating miner in the form of large transaction fees and the miner would then add redistribution outputs to its normal list of outputs. One advantage would be that such a transaction would enlist the help of the miners in the (probably anonymous) mining pool. The fact that the transactions with large fees look suspicious while ordinary joint transactions don't would be a disadvantage. I'm not sure if the coinbase idea can be used to improve the CoinJoin system, but I think it's worth thinking about.

This won't work. In case there is a chain re-org, the fee will be grabbed by a different miner
1819  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: November 15, 2013, 04:57:57 PM
CoinJoin is like collecting 20 of 100 USD bills into a hat and then passing the hat to another group of 20 people, each one takes its 100 USD bill. Noone knows who gives you which bill.

Ah ok, so this would basically be useless for any kind of eCommerce, or paying in restaurant with bitcoins etc because they wouldn't know who paid for it.  I sincerely hope this would then be an optional way of transferring rather than a replacement right?, otherwise it would pretty much destroy Bitcoin as a means for paying for goods.

The merchant doesn't need to know who paid because every time they issue a bill they use a brand new address. Forget address reuse
