1821  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Global Drug Conspiracy Used Binance To Launder Millions In Crypto on: December 28, 2022, 01:51:47 AM
That's quite unfortunate! I am concerned about what the future holds for Binance! They are already facing a federal investigation regarding money laundering, and this incident will allow the regulatory bodies and enforcement agencies to launch a full-scale investigation on Binance and eventually try to close their operations from US soil. Even though they are not directly involved in the drug trade, they will still face the heat. My concern is, that the ordinary public like us may see delayed withdrawals and suspensions due to all these nonsense matters. The cascading effect will be seen on the market which is already struggling with the falling price! Not ideal at all!

What is your favorite exchange? I would argue that all of our favorite exchanges are being used together with Defi to become one big, global moneylaundering ring for drug cartels and other criminal organizations. I would agree that it is unfortunate, however, it also shows everyone of one of the powerful use cases of the cryptospace.

This is only similar to much of the world's greatest inventions. Cell phones can be used to detonate bombs, cars are used by criminals to escape, airplanes are used to carry bombs to drop on populated areas and many other use cases.
1822  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Poll] What are the safest platforms? on: December 28, 2022, 12:28:06 AM
.... when the FTX fiasco is at its hottest CZ launched a bailout
hehe that makes him the good guy then? Didn't he also forced Sam's hand to buy back the Binance's 20% share in FTX at a huge profit? Some articles have written that CZ stonewalled FTX's plan to expand. He invested about $100 Million in FTX and sold it for about $2 Billion. I'm not surprised why investors thinks he may have caused the liquidity crunch.

....There have been rumors that Kucoin hold a significant amount of FTT. Kucoin has denied this, however, we cannot be quite certain on what is the truth or who is telling the truth anymore.
Nothing is showing up in my googles search. Can you share link of that rumor?

You might be using the wrong search terms. I searched and found this in 1 minute.

https://cryptoslate.com/kucoin-ceo-addresses-rumours-surrounding-ftx-ftt-exposure/

In any case, it was mentioned first in social media, where some bitcoiners began speculating on what exchanges have exposure on FTX and FTT. Kucoin and Crypto.com were mentioned.

@Lucius. Agreed, however, it is speculation and profit that also helped create the cryptospace, without this, it would not grow as much as it has.
1823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Degods -> ETH, y00ts -> Polygon, Will $SOL going down more? on: December 27, 2022, 06:14:02 AM
What will happen with Solana later? Going down more?

Similar to what I have said in another thread, there are problems. Some developers are leaving for Aptos and Sui. Solana also shuts down when there is too much load, this appears to be a recurring problem. Also, the founders, do they remain commited to the project? I reckon if they do something similar to what Dan Larimer's team did with EOS, where they said they will leave the project to the community, I am certain this is a signal that they are leaving a sinking ship.
1824  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Speculated] Barry Silbert dump on: December 27, 2022, 05:40:50 AM
Also, yes you are correct in all of your arguments.

There's no need to be sarcastic, I'm not someone who always thinks he's right, but I guess everyone has the right to comment on any speculations, especially if they are based on rumours. As someone who is very well acquainted with what it means to invest in altcoins, I share my opinion about it, and considering your attitude towards DeFi, NTF and altcoins in general, it is clear to me that you do not like it.

Personally, I think you are shaking your head a little too much, especially about very unimportant things Wink

I am sorry but what were those unimportant things? I am striving to be more like you. If I see someone who spelled Grayscale as Gray Scale, I would certainly make a big argument out of it hehehe.

In any case, we might not agree on many things, however, I was not being sarcastic when I said that I agreed to your reply about Barry Silbert not being more intelligent than Sam Bankrupt-Fried. But there is a difference, Sam created a ponzi scheme from the very beginning. Barry is not yet proven if he runs a ponzi scheme but the failure of Genesis Global Capital is a sign that he might be.

@YOSHIE. Where is Justin Sun? Should he not be on that list? If their losses really went to him, it would not be very shocking if he becomes the new king of the cryptospace in the next few years hehehe.
1825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: December 27, 2022, 02:38:36 AM
It appears that some people are not spending that much this Christmas season. Is this a warning sign that more recession is coming? I reckon if this movie was released during December of 2020, this would make over $200 million in the box office.
Tbh I don't think that lower Avatar's lower box office number than expected had anything to do with upcoming recession. Personally, I think that Cameron waited a little bit too long for this sequel, 13 years is a very long time and sequels made so many years after the original are rarely successful so I think that even this numbers are pretty good and I do expect it to surpass $1.5 billion in the end.

Agreed, part of it might be James Cameron's long wait for the technology to create the sequel. According to some friends who watched it, it was something similar to being in a theme park but the story of the movie itself was not very captivating.

In any case, I watched The Fabelmans, Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere all at Once.

The Fabelmans. It was boring only in the first 15 minutes. This is my favorite of the 3. Good story, funny movie that is based on Steven Spielberg's life before becoming a movie director.

Banshees of Inisherin. Funny dialogue, however, it is dragging and it appears the writer does not know how to end the story.

Everything Everywhere all at Once. It was not very good, I reckon. I am not quite certain why this movie is being pushed as an Oscar favorite for best picture. The sportsbooks do not believe it and they did not adjust the odds that much hehehehe.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: December 27, 2022, 01:14:57 AM
Is it really that allowed on having at least giving sometime on doing all the things he do want before getting jailed totally? The do paid up the bail and i dont believe that it is really just good for
those limits or restrictions towards its actions and lots of questions raised up specially into those people who were affected with this FTX bankruptcy.
The picture do even shows that he is free as a bird with those actions and you cant blame out people on having those questions.

I'm honestly a little confused as Reuters/Yahoo! reported that the terms of his bail would mean he would have to remain indoors:

Nicolas Roos, a prosecutor, told U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel Gorenstein that the bail package would require Bankman-Fried to surrender his passport and remain in home confinement at his parents' home in Palo Alto, California. He would also be required to undergo regular mental health treatment and evaluation.

Are we sure this image of him at an airport is current and not from prior to his arrest?  Or are they using a plane to send him back to his parents?  Either way, he's not completely free.

This part of the news article that says that he is required to undergo mental health treatment and evaluation might find something that will lower his sentence. If everyone remembers, some of the other news articles mentioned Sam and his team took amphetamines for more productivity when they were working in the office. However, there are some types of amphetamines that can turn some people into impulsive gamblers.

I reckon Sam's lawyer can use this as a plead for a type of temporary insanity because he was under the influence of drugs.
1827  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Poll] What are the safest platforms? on: December 26, 2022, 06:19:50 AM
Why do more people speculate that Kucoin is less risky than Kraken? There have been rumors that Kucoin hold a significant amount of FTT. Kucoin has denied this, however, we cannot be quite certain on what is the truth or who is telling the truth anymore.

Does anyone know something bad about Kraken that I might have ignored?
1828  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [2022-12-21] SEC Charges Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang with Defrauding Investor on: December 26, 2022, 05:13:46 AM
Edit: Alameda Research ex-CEO Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang plead guilty to involvement in frauds causing FTX's collapse.

This implies that Caroline and Gary Wang might be in the process of creating an agreement with the SEC to tell everything they know in exchange for a lower sentence. The person who does not make the agreement will be the scapegoat and presently, this appears to be Sam Bankrupt-Fried.

In any case, Sam does not appear that he wants to plead guilty and tell everything he knows. Might there be something really behind FTX? Are the speculations on the Ukraine moneylaundering operation and Democratic party connection real?
I don't know Gary Wang but Caroline appears to be doing everything possible to have an agreement with the SEC by saying everything she knows about the issue. But Sam Bankman-Fried appears to believe in Mark Cohen his defense attorney capacity since he has once won a case against the SEC
About the Ukraine money laundering operation and Democratic involvement, I don't know if it's real and what I read is that it is a baseless theory.

Caroline and Gary Wang will tell Gensler and his team everything they know and I speculate will also add lies to save themselves from imprisonment and leave everything on Sam Bankrupt-Fried's shoulders.

On the Ukraine moneylaundering-Democratic party connection, I agree that everything is presently just speculation, however, something similar can be said about FTX before they were exposed. If someone speculated that FTX is a ponzi scheme during 2021, everyone would say it is only fud and a baseless story.

If the baseless story is true, Sam on the other side will have no choice but hide everything he knows or else he might end similar to Jeffrey Epstein hehehe.
1829  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Speculated] Barry Silbert dump on: December 25, 2022, 04:35:55 AM
I cannot argue against what you have said is his reason because you might be right. However, it might also be the first signs that Gray Scale might be having some problems in their cashflow.

Small correction, it's not Gray Scale, but Grayscale - the exact name of the company is important to know what we're talking about, but also because nobody likes it when their name is spelled or pronounced incorrectly.

Also, yes you are correct in all of your arguments.
1830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 25, 2022, 01:35:54 AM
It appears some of the games were played already. I thought it was going to be the usual schedule, I forgot about the adjustment because Christmas is on a Sunday hehe.

In any case, the results of week 16 appear not to be very good for my team hehe. Congratulations to the lost man in the casino, @Hueristic. You are 136 projected vs. my 127 projected. Nick Folk had 0 fantasy points and Stevenson only had 3.30 points. I still have a chance, however, it would need for one of your players to get 0 points which, I am certain, is very impossible.
1831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SBF released, Will Solana ($SOL) come back? on: December 24, 2022, 06:28:00 AM
@janggernaut. Solana might pump again during a bull market similar to many of the other altcoins in the cryptospace. But to be something as a challenger vs. Ethereum or to be the first blockchain of choice for Defi and NFT, no more. Some of Solana's best developers have left already to work on Aptos and Sui.

I reckon Fantom has more potential than Solana. Famous Defi developer, Andre Cronje has also returned and it appears that he will be working on new projects in Fantom.
1832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SBF, arrested! on: December 24, 2022, 04:47:43 AM
The winner of this whole FTX and Alameda comedy show is Sam Trabucco, the former CEO of Alameda. He resigned with good timing, only 3 months before the collapse hehehe. In any case, the skeptical me thinks that there might be more on this. He might either have very good timing skills or he might be an informant? I leave this decision to you.

1834  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Speculated] Barry Silbert dump on: December 24, 2022, 03:03:51 AM
In any case, it appears there was bigger dump than market average of different coins that are connected to Barry Silbert's Digital Currency Group. Nothing is confirmed if DCG is dumping, however.

Maybe after all the man realized that investing in shitcoins is not worth it, although it is not at all clear to me that someone who should be a serious business person and also intelligent can go in that direction at all. It's no secret that long-term investing in altcoins leads to an almost certain loss, that's something we advise all beginners on the forum.

Honestly, I don't care if he sells all altcoins, the important thing is that it has no effect on Bitcoin, which luckily is the case for now.

I cannot argue against what you have said is his reason because you might be right. However, it might also be the first signs that Gray Scale might be having some problems in their cashflow.

Also, if Barry Silbert begins another round of shitcoin purchases to form a new pool for another trust, does this imply that investing in shitcoins is worth it again?
1835  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Poll] What are the safest platforms? on: December 23, 2022, 06:39:02 AM
@everyone. I am very aware that with centralized exchanges, none of them is 0% risk from bankruptcy, insolvency, government crackdowns or hacks. I am also not encouraging everyone to deposit their coins to the exchange with the highest votes in the list. However, the poll is asking which of those exchanges in the list have the least risk. None of the above is not an option.

Everyone can vote for 2 exchanges.
1836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 23, 2022, 05:57:47 AM
I am quite certain that this is a shared opinion among much of the UFC commentators. Daniel Cormier, Michael Bisping, Joe Rogan, and the rest of them.

What is everyone's prediction on what is next for Paddy the baddy? How will he fix this problem on his image and hype everyone again to watch his fights? Will he improve as a mixed martial artist or will he decide to make it easier for himself and become the annoying loudmouth trashtalker who always loses his fights?

UFC commentator Laura Sanko takes a look at the decision win by Paddy Pimblett at UFC 282 and his immediate reaction to the scorecards.

The UFC 282 event that ended the year in terms of UFC PPV cards was filled with controversy. One bout that stood out was the co-main event between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon.

Now looking back at the way he behaved after the fight, UFC commentator Laura Sanko thinks he handled it all wrong.

She went on to explain that even though he won that fight and regardless of how people scored it, the level of competition was up with the veteran Jard Gordon and Pimblett was not able to run through him as he has done in his first three UFC fights.

“When you have that moment where I feel like a lot of the audience wanted him to say, ‘Man, that was a close fight. I don’t know if I won that fight or not. I’m glad I got it on the judge’s scorecards love to go back and watch it, Jared’s great.’ I think his reaction to it did him a little bit of a disservice,” she said.

1837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: December 23, 2022, 04:39:15 AM
Usually though to be able to peak at the right time, boxers mostly needs 8 weeks hard preparation inside the ring and probably that will still be the target of his camp, so that his condition will be just about right.

But maybe the preparation will be more on mental for Ryan and so his team needs more time to swallow and understand how they will overcome this one as others said, Tank will be the favorite and so Ryan will need to be very determined to overcome Davis in their fight.

I very much agree! It will certainly be more on his mental preparation than physical! He is in his best possible conditioning in his life as a boxer. He needs this challenge to test himself in the ring!

Also, if everyone can remember, Ryan Garcia was a victim of depression and suicidal thoughts before his return to fight Emmanuel Tagoe. He also said that he needed psychiatric help. We do not want this to return before May or the fight might be cancelled or he might go out of the ring with a stretcher hehehehe.
1838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 23, 2022, 04:18:38 AM
It appears the playoff for our league will be on week 16. I thought week 16 will be a bye week and we resume on week 17 and have our champion on week 18. I will need Lamar Jackson to win against Hueristic but it does not look good for him and his knee, and this is clearly not very good for me and my team hehe.

According to some news articles, Lamar has a PCL knee strain. Grade 1 PCL will need up to 2 weeks to heal, grade 2 will need up to 4 weeks. However, it was never mentioned if Lamar has grade 1 or grade 2 and it has only been on the 3rd week. I am afraid that he might not come back until the post season.

Are we playing each other?

I'm at the casino this week and don't have the link or even remember my password.

Whats the link for the league?

Looks like my QB will be out next week as well.

I was going to be posting this thinking that you were making a sarcastic reply.

However, you were telling the truth on Jalen Hurts. He is really out for week 16. I assume you are also lost in the casino this week, without knowing the link for the league and cannot remember your password also?

1839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: December 23, 2022, 03:57:04 AM
According to this news, Everything, Everywhere All at Once has dethroned the Fablemans as favorite for the best movie. But did sportsbooks change their odds quickly? You will find 4.20 if you know were to go hehehehhe.

This is one universe “Everything Everywhere All at Once” definitely wants to stay in. The genre-bending dramedy has dethroned “The Fabelmans” to take over the top spot in the Best Picture Oscar odds.

Source https://www.goldderby.com/article/2022/everything-everywhere-all-at-once-oscar-predictions-best-picture/
Completely crazy, to have that movie as a favorite. I personally disliked it so much that I simply can't bet on it, even if odd is pretty decent (4.20 one). From what I've seen so far, my money will be on The Banshees of Inisherin.

To be honest with you, I cannot argue yet. I have not watched any of the top movies speculated to be nominated in the Oscar awards. However, similar to what I have said before, sportsbooks and oddsmakers list the odds based on what they speculate might win with much of the votes from the academy of motion picture arts and sciences. They also clearly have more information than us. Our task as bettors is to speculate on the changes in odds and take advantage.

In any case, it appears Avatar: Way of water made less in the American box office than what was expected.

The opening weekend box office numbers for Avatar's sequel are in!

Avatar: The Way of Water pulled in $134 million at the domestic box office over the weekend,

It was speculated to be over $174.5 million with odds of 1.57.

To those of you who criticize the fight cancellation vs. Gesta.

Ryan Garcia has made the correct decision, I reckon. If he was to continue the fight against Gesta and also has to have some of his attention on the superfight against Tank Davis on May, this will certainly be more added pressure that he does not need. Would fans still want King Ry vs. Tank if Ryan Garcia does not give a good performance against Gesta? What if he lost vs. Gesta? There is also risk of injury.

These are risks that Ryan should avoid. Similar argument to Tank also, he should cancel his fight against Hector Luis Garcia. He might injure his left hand again.
