1821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 14, 2023, 12:58:33 AM
I thought momentum was beginning to go on the Chiefs until thr Eagles get this touchdown and 2 point conversion to make the game tied with both teams have 35 points each and there is only 5 more minutes. My only wish for the game is an overtime hehehehe.

In any case, Chiefs was also lucky. If Jalen Hurts did not fumble the ball during the 2nd quarter the Eagles should be leading with the score 35-28.

There are many points in the game that kind of pivots it one way or another.  I wouldn't say they are lucky and you can't say they don't catch up with the eagles without that fumble recovery.  If ilhe didn't the whole game would have altered.  Either way it was one of the most exciting super bowls I've seen.  Lots of action just no defense.  Eagles defense folded pretty easily.

I am not taking anything from the Chiefs' victory, however, of course I will be biased because my bet was on Philadelphia hehehe. Everything I saw occur that went against them would be on Philadelphia. There was also the late holding penalty Philadelphia that has certainly affected the game's ending.

In any case, I am very much excited for our next fantasy league. Can we begin the draft order earlier? Also, let us begin collecting payment while bitcoin is priced low hehehehe.
1822  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-02-11] Kazakhstan Law Limiting Crypto Miners’ Consumption of Electricity.. on: February 13, 2023, 03:48:10 AM
@mindrust. I disagree. Higher expenses on mining bitcoin will not cause the price of bitcoin to pump. What it will certainly do is cause the miners in Kazakhstan is sell their bitcoin now to pay for the expenses to transfer their mining equipment somewhere else, very much similar to the cryptomining ban in China.

However, this will be bullish for the other miners outside of Kazakhstan because mining difficulty will fall and this will give them a good chance to increase their share of the total hashrate.

1825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 11, 2023, 03:59:09 AM
@wheelz1200. I disagree because if everyone or much of the bettors and gamblers on the superbowl are laying on the Eagles, they would have adjusted the spread to -3.5 or more on Las Vegas already. The spread is only on -1.5 or -2. This implies that it might be a competitive game with gamblers divided on both of these teams. However, which secondary is better? Is it the 49ers or the Chiefs? I speculate that the Eagles secondary might make it very difficult for the Chiefs but the Eagles offensive team will make it easy to score against the Chiefs secondary.
1826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 11, 2023, 02:12:21 AM
Bookies are not rooting for Volkaanovski however. Personally, I wanted Volkanovski to win and remain at the top still as he had defended the title before. He just has to avoid the takedown by countering it with his accurate strike or by knee and this will fall as one of the upsets again.

Once Makhachev wins in this weight class, this will be another set of fights for him, another to challenge by the guys in featherweight which will be an opportunity for bettors though.
If Volkanovski can beat Makhachev, I think he's a monster since he's already destroy every fighters in featherweight and he's able to win against top 2 P4P rank.

It's possible for other featherweight's fighter will challenge Makhachev, but there's no better fighter except Max Holloway, even Holloway is a good fighter, he have been beaten by Volkanovski for 3 times. He ever fight with Dustin Poirier which is top 3 rank in lightweight, but he's lose.

So if Makhachev beat Volkanovski, technically he already beat Holloway too.

I can easily agree that Volkanovski is a monster, but gonna try to start a discussion why he is not going to win Cheesy First of all it is a very rare case when a fighter advances to other weight class and performs well there. Going down in a weight class is different. But when you go up to fight against a champion and top2 p2p, imho this is a suicide mission. Islam will be only a weigh-ins a lightweight, next day he will be a welterweight Cheesy. This will be first time Volkanovski fighting as a lightweight. No warm-up fight, straight against champ... I wont stop saying that wrestler beats striker. Volkanovski, I think, had only 1 or 2 (probably only Ortega) good wrestler opponents. I wish this fight to have more drama, but I think everyone knows how it is going to end.

Dagestani wrestling is also very much different from American wrestling. We will certainly witness Alexander the great have a very hard time on the ground with Islam. This might become a new experience for the Australian, however, not a very welcome experience hehehe.

Also, what is this pound for pound best UFC fighter in the world? This is nothing. The UFC only created this for hype and promotion for another type of storyline.

Agreed. Also, there are other peer to peer marketplaces with more traders that began offering better conversion prices than Locabitcoins in Paxful, Binance and Kucoin. I have only learned about Binance and Kucoin peer to peer marketplaces last year. I was shocked that they have become very popular.
1828  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2023-02-09] - Crypto exchange Kraken ends staking programme and pays $30mn in.. on: February 11, 2023, 12:21:22 AM
@pawel7777. I am quite certain that centralized exchanges are only the beginning. The crackdown on Defi protocols that have lending pools, give staking rewards or anything that offers yield for your tokens locked might be uncle Gary's real target.

This is starting to get ugly for Kraken, one small step at a time
- 30 million fine which is easy to pay but a huge chunk of revenue and customers gone
- IRS  again filing for a court approval to check the user's finances and tax liabilities
- exiting Japan and now Abu Dhabi

The surprise came from Coinbase, as they obviously are going to be next and they are already on the offensive, but there was one tweet from Armstrong and one tiny phrase that caught my eye:
https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1623459203150131201

Quote
Staking is a really important innovation in crypto. It allows users to participate directly in running open crypto networks. Staking brings many positive improvements to the space, including scalability, increased security, and reduced carbon footprints.

And it immediately backfired  Cheesy

Brian Armstrong might be naive to think that reduced carbon footprints were a real concern for the American government. It is only about politics. I speculate that people in government who really care about the environment might only be less than 10% of them.
1829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: February 10, 2023, 04:56:55 AM
Depends on who are included within the jury. Although I would agree when you say that political considerations of the jury can have an impact on the results, it would be wrong to assume that all of the members have the same political inclination. There maybe left-leaning members of the jury who prefer films such as the Green Book, but at the same time, there may also be members from the other end of the political spectrum. But given the recent developments, it would be safe to assume that a majority of the members would be left-leaning.
It is safe to say that Hollywood is mostly left-leaning and the jury is from Hollywood, which means that it would most probably be a left-leaning one. This is why we are no longer in the worlds of godfather winning type of thing, we are in a period when "Oscar movie" and the best movie will never be the same because of the politics. Like Coda? Really? Are we even being serious, being the "best" movie of a whole year? Things have changed a lot and we are not going to see that much important movies.

I think the best movie of this year was Avatar and I haven't even seen it, you know why? It grossed over 2 billion dollars, that should tell you why it was the "best" movie, that's what people thinks.

I disagree that the box office should determine if a movie is the best or not. Much of the Marvel movies are box office hits, does this imply that they are the best movies? Should we ignore other movies that show us good film making and replace them with films created for financial gain? If this was true for you then Titanic and Avatar are the best work of film making in the world? This is will be very headshaking hehehe.

In any case, Coda won best picture on 2022. This might be because the Academy of motion picture arts and sciences members wanted to vote on something light hearted after what the world has gone through with the coronavirus pandemic. The voters are following on what they want the storylines and the narratives for the present time. This is why I speculate All Quiet on the Western Front might have better expectations to win best picture because of the antiwar agenda on Ukraine.

@Rikafip. Is there a Ukranian candidate for Eurovision?
1830  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽🎮🎲 Coinplay.com | Brand New Crypto Sportsbook & Casino on: February 10, 2023, 04:14:02 AM
Generally, gambling and playing games on casinos responsibly. Gambling responsibly.

I very much agree. Also, everyone should remember that gambling should not be a way to make money. Gambling is only for entertainment similar to watching a movie. In watching a movie you spend your money on the movie ticket, your drink, your snack and sit for 2 hours being entertained. In gambling, you also spend your money, also watch the cards, the dice or the ball give you what you need to win and also sit there being entertained. The excitement and the anxiety should be considered part of the entertainment hehehehe.
1831  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2023-02-09] - Crypto exchange Kraken ends staking programme and pays $30mn in.. on: February 10, 2023, 03:45:36 AM
@pawel7777. I was mentioning this in another thread. Yes, Gary Gensler has begun his crackdown on illegal securities in the cryptospace and it appears that he will use forceful action without giving warnings. This will not be similar to what the SEC has done before where they issued warnings before enforcement. This time it might be enforcement first before discussions. I speculate that exchanges' staking programs will be stopped in America and market capitalization of tokens issued by Defi projects of American developers will be dumped. This will be the crypto storyline of 2023.
1832  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 10, 2023, 02:08:20 AM
I voted yes on the poll when this thread was created, however, there are very concerning reports that SEC comissioner Gary might become more aggressive in enforcement of regulations on exchanges, Defi projects and banks that are cooperating in the cryptospace to put them under the control of the government. The fear this might create on investors might cause bitcoin and all of the cryptospace to another big dump again.

SCOOP:@GaryGensler
is embarking on a "midnight massacre" in an attempt to bring all of #crypto under his control. In the coming weeks, the @SECGov, @NYDFS and the @USOCC will be bringing a myriad of enforcement actions against exchanges, banks and entities that mint tokens in an attempt to label the majority of them as securities. I'm told Gensler's strategy is to bring as many enforcement actions as possible while the 118th Congress is still getting its bearings.

@NFLexperts. Should we have 2 leagues for the next season? League 1 will be opened earlier, drafted earlier and the fee will be 50% cheaper. League 2 will be our regular league similar to what we are doing already.

I would be up for 2 leagues next year with the caveat that we do something like reverse order for drafting so we have totally different drafts.

Doesn't matter what we set the cost at to me.

That is a very good suggestion. We can also play the other league with a different format like superflex or one of those 2QB type leagues. There are other scoring formats also like PPR or half PPR. I am not certain what kind of scoring format we used. Was it PPR or standard?

In any case, who does everyone have on Sunday? Are you team Jalen or team Mahomes? I have always ignored the Eagle's performance because they had an unchallenging schedule. However, their win vs. the Niners has convinced me. I am team Jalen.
1834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 09, 2023, 06:23:32 AM
It appears that Tommy Fury is learning the tricks to win before the fight begins from his brother Tyson hehehe. I am only speculating about this, however, not appearing for a press conference to cause an opponent to be angry might be something Tyson Fury might do. Jake Paul might have forgotten that the Gypsy King is always with the family first.

Jake Paul wasn’t happy to learn that his upcoming boxing adversary Tommy Fury skipped out on their first pre-fight press conference.

During a recent press conference, Paul unloaded on Fury for no-showing to promote the fight.

“He’s a flake,” Paul said of Fury. “He’s not a serious businessman, he’s not a serious fighter. I’m gonna prove that. That’s why this fight is called ‘The Truth’, because the truth’s gonna come out and he’s gonna have to pay for all the times he’s pulled out…

“It’s disrespectful. There’s some of the biggest names in boxing, some of the biggest promoters in the world, some of the most influential people in the world, one of the greatest countries in the world…and he doesn’t show up because of a private matter… it shows me he’s scared. He said he didn’t need to train for this fight, but meanwhile his excuse first was that he needed to train extra for this fight…it’s typical Fury stuff… I like Tyson, but the dad and Tommy, it’s typical from them.”

Metaverse gaming platform The Sandbox and Saudi Arabia have come to an understanding of some sort. Details were not provided.

Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget took to LinkedIn to announce the news. “It was a true honor to sign our [memorandum of understanding] partnership … between The Sandbox and the Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority,” he wrote. “We look forward to exploring, advising and supporting mutually each other in activations of the Metaverse!”

With this i am sensing some serious money flows coming in. Saudi money is in whole different level and first thing that came to mind was collaboration with the smart city called "The Line".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Line,_Saudi_Arabia
Projects like that can give a glimpse how much money are they dealing with.

However them being Saudi Arabia i am thinking they would have some ideas with censorship and any critizism of politics could end up being a problem.

It appears that you did not understand. There is very much of a chance that this news about Saudi Arabia is nothing but to hype Sandbox and cause a pump on Sand tokens before the vesting unlock on February 14. It might only be an exit pump for those new tokens taken into circulation to dump. The other projects with token unlocks might also start doing something similar to this hehehe.
1836  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: February 09, 2023, 04:30:22 AM
Calling it a small fraction if compared to the total money they stole is downplaying it from what they really owe hehehe. It is not a fraction. It is a small drop of water in a wide ocean. According the court filings, Celsius owes $4.3 billion to customers.

$11 million is only .26% of $4.3 billion.
I don't see how I downplayed it by writing "a small fraction", but if we are nitpicking then I could say that you are downplaying the amount that will be paid out because one drop of water makes considerably less than 0.26% of any ocean, or even a bottle of water.  Grin

Okay this is not a small drop on a wide ocean, however, this is still very very very very very much a small fraction of $4.3 billion and those hustlers in Celsius know that they are certainly going to get away with this.

I am not certain if these articles saying that Celsius has been insolvent from the beginning but appears the truth is coming out.

A new report by Jenner & Block attorney Shoba Pillay, the bankruptcy court-appointed Examiner of Celsius, claims that Celsius “on a stand-alone basis has been insolvent since inception.” The report, which centers around Celsius’s native token, argues that the crypto lender used CEL as the centerpiece of a scheme to enrich executives at customers’ cost.

It's really hard to predict if these platforms stick as i think they are pretty much duct tape solutions for fast as possible metaverse adoption. I think that there will be better tech ahead and these get left far behind like some bulky and weird tv and radio combinations in the past.

Just be aware that a whale might Be dumping it soon

This is definitely not a good idea to buy this token right now, after seeing the news whales are moving large chunks of SAND to Binance. The risk to be taken doesn't worth considering the currently scenario. It's better to wait and see what these whales have in mind and what they are going to do with their tokens next, before making any moves. In times like this it's possible whales liquidate their tokens in order to raise funds to boost bitcoin price, starting a new rally.

Also according to some people in social media, Sand will have a big vesting unlock on February 14. I am quite certain there is more chance of this to be dumped after that date. However, traders can join the pump before the vesting unlock and dump hours before this hehehe. There will certainly be good announcements that will be published to hype this project, pump the token and make it ready for an exit dump.

This is one of these types announcements. They will be vague without real details shared. If you are a trader, it might be profitable to have an unlock calendar on projects and trade the unlock exit pumps hehehehee.

Let's stop spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) in the crypto world and start trading the FUD Token (FTX Users' Debt). It is a symbol of positivity in the crypto world, it represents a commitment to transparency and trust in the market.

The listing of FUD Token on reputable exchanges like @HuobiGlobal is a clear indication that the crypto industry is moving in a positive direction. The demand for #FUD Token is a sign of confidence in the market, and a vote of support for a positive attitude towards crypto.

Source https://mobile.twitter.com/justinsuntron/status/1622102113756286976
This FTX debt token seems like a disaster in the making. It was meant to have a fair value under $5 (20M token for $100M debt), but speculative traders have driven the price to an unrealistic level, reaching $113 high yesterday and currently trading at $64 on Huobi.

Would advise anyone to stay away from this shitshow.

Agreed. Another pump and dump scheme from one of our favorite hustlers in the cryptospace, Justin Sun. I speculate that he needs a new Lamborgini hehehe.

He is the owner of exchanges Huobi and Poloniex but he promotes a clear scam. This is an example and this shows that the cryptospace is run by comedians, hustlers and scammers.
1840  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: February 08, 2023, 12:46:46 AM
How much does everyone speculate Celsius will pay out? I reckon less than $10 million.
You were very close with your prediction as according to the article below, Celsius is supposed to pay out ~$11 million worth of crypto. So yeah, its a small fraction of money compared to the total amount owed.

There were just 15,680 customers, however, who held around $43.87 million in what’s known as “Pure Custody” the entire time. It is this latter group that will see 100% funds returned, as per the bankruptcy court judge.

“Pure custody” would include users Celsius’s Custody and Withold Accounts, which effectively acted as crypto wallets.

But it is only users who held their funds in “Pure Custody” the entire time that will get 100% of their capital back due to rules around “preferential transfers.”

Customers that transferred from Celsius’ interest-bearing services into “Pure Custody” after the firm’s many financial issues became apparent, a period which the filing determines as 90 days before the firm declared bankruptcy on July 13, are only set for a return of capital up to a value of $7,575.

The above condition is set to impact around $11 million of crypto, according to the filing

In any case, I am quite certain Swiss bankers are very happy accepting Alex Mashinsky's deposits.

Celsius ended November with $9 billion of liabilities, including more than $4.3 billion owed to customers, a court filing shows.
