1821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $1.6 billion stolen in cryptocurrency 2022 first quarter 165% higher on: May 04, 2022, 10:13:25 AM
The weird thing to me is not the hack itself because that sounds very natural to me. The weirdest part is when people keep going back to DEFI and keep buying all kinds of useless tokens to continue being scammed every day whether through direct hacks or just dumps. This has been going on for a couple of years now!
When you are spending your money into DeFi it's lost at that moment only but you know people keep on doing the same mistakes which they have been warned off earlier and later on loose their money. For instance some of the mistake they make are :

1) Keeping funds on CEX
2) Investing in DeFi projects
3) Giving out your seeds to some scammers in greed mode

But you still see these exploits and hacks because people are still going the same way of losing their money and for hackers it's still easy to find the victims and the most of amount is stolen from DeFi projects which keeps on growing each year :

And the biggest hack for Ronin network where $625 million were lost while Binance is freezing the account of the scammers won't help a lot and you need to stay away from them for safety of your funds.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin teaching approach on: May 04, 2022, 09:58:27 AM
You want students to learn about bitcoin and it's backend technology is good approach and one step ahead benefit is you are assigned as Computer science teacher to them so I think it would be easy for them to learn about it and you can explain them in much better way.But the problem with the school is they are not focusing on expanding students knowledge about bitcoin and just burdening them with the regular stuff showing the best in their written books. Will the school be offended if you go off the tracks alongside with your course?

I remember there was one member on the forum who was giving some technical bitcoin projects to the students like creating a Lightning Channel payment system as assignment and have a thread for the same on the forum so is the case with you but don't have clarity on the restrictions by the school or how children react to it.But you could explain them about bitcoin usage and let them be familiar with the real usage of bitcoin in much creative way or showing some practical exposure through your cell phone if you can in some free time.

You have already your plans like buying computer and integrating courses so choose some variety of topics on different aspects like keys, wallets, security and usage as technical aspects and also the economic concept and how bitcoin can help in it through decentralisation. This will take efforts but if you can it will be good for the students.

1824  Other / Meta / Re: Race to 10K Merit club..... on: May 03, 2022, 12:01:14 PM
So we have the first winner to this race and undoubtedly he is none other than @o_e_l_e_o who has shattered the record of reaching this mark after @LoyceV and also with most earned merit tag.So congratulations to him for hitting this milestone and he has already sailed the boat with additional 23 merits now above 10k mark also

So now his name is out of this race and the competition lies with rest of the Top -9 contenders of this race and the charts will be updated shortly having the merit journey for those members.Best wishes to all of you man and keep the competitive spirit high with your effective posting skills.
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Congress Hearing On Bitcoin’s Energy Use on: May 03, 2022, 11:48:02 AM
This energy issue has always prevailing in the debates and now the Congress just want another propoganda to defame the image of bitcoin by showing that through mining energy many other works could be done like officials have also stated that through single bitcoin transaction many US household could consume electricity and many more to come.

But have they not given any importance to that how miners are moving to energy efficient and renewable methods? The hash rates have increased and energy consumption has decreased with 25% and more than 60% is now green energy consumption for mining purpose.

So they will ignore these charts and keep on debating on the same topic but how many banks are other monetary services contribute to the total energy usage in US only? Much more than btc so if you are having some POW based coin that have the capability to change the financial system but with some electricity which miners are trying to solve also disturb them and they suddenly become so environment friendly? This is same old bullshit which they are not bored of .

As per the latest reports of Mining council they are briefing about the usage but you see only a few percentage cares to listen to them :

Will see forward to the hearing and what next they come up with but the council is also ready for defending itself and raise up the bitcoin to ordinary people in true representative.
1826  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: May 03, 2022, 10:22:44 AM
They have updated the utility trait breakdown. You can read detailed information about all of those in HERE

People are complaining alot in discord so probably they are going to change something to fit in what the community wants but I kinda doubt it
Yeah the special traits are all divided into 26 categories with each having unique artistic touch but as you said the discord members are not happy this could lead to some issues which they need to change as this is whole community oriented gameplay and you need to fulfill the users request. So let's see what changes they made or continue with the same one.

Issues regarding users dislikes should be address because this will lead to massive disappointment to users who have Rollbot's and this might drop the interest as well the price of their own art. But since we know how good Rollbit solving issues on their users most provably they solve this because for what I see their user satisfaction is more important to them.
Your service and features should be providing some utility and accepted by the users of that thing and if the Rollbit players are not liking it they will probably develop more fascinating benefits to bind them and might be working on new update. So will check about it in few days if there is any changes or not.
1827  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: May 03, 2022, 10:13:03 AM
So the results for the art contest are out and as expected by me @Maus0728 has once again been selected as winning entry and to surprise he has two winning entries both in 1st - 3rd winning box with $750 prize. So congratulations to him and all other members who have been winner in this art contest. For those who missed it be happy and have high hopes and work more creatively in next one..So just check out the results
1828  Other / Meta / Re: Save your nice merit records here - LAST UPDATE: 24/03/2022 on: May 03, 2022, 09:59:47 AM

I recorded a more beautiful record yesterday:

I was thinking I missed his 10k mark record and was going to share the above two records as have SS them on time yesterday but didn't get the time and now @Raflesia already done the work on my behalf.

But as we all were missing flash @Ratimov he is back with the exact merit record for @o_e_l_e_o on this thread with 10k mark.So congratulations to him on achieving this race pretty fast.As we were already discussing about this race on this thread :

Race to 10K Merit club.....

So once again congratulations to him  Smiley

Yes, this is the second user after LoyceV, but at the moment, o_e_l_e_o has earned the most merits since the introduction of the merit system in 2018. Most likely, he will be the first user on the forum to earn an honest 10 000 merits, excluding airdrop merits.
He was airdrop with only 100 merits and is already user with most earned merits and yes he is left with only 82 merits to embark the 10,000 earned merits mark also and depending on his speed it's just a matter of few days less then week for sure. You can check it here
1829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: May 03, 2022, 09:45:47 AM
I felt the urge to update this thread with a belated update.
On April 15th, I got my 9,000th merit!

Thank you to everyone who supported me in this journey!
And it seems you have already taken the hyperloop for the merit stations as you have already earned 205 merits within 18 days of this particular post.So congratulations on heading forward and when you are doing it passionately all will support you in this journey.

To all getting inspired from his journey it's good that you also want to have a zeal to grow in the forum but keep in mind you could get merit fast or slow but you didn't want to slow down your pace of contribution. This requires lot of efforts and as you can see he is dedicated and have shared lot of information with his detailed thread on the forum which has made it possible for him to rank up fast on the forum.

You all need to learn and give your contributions to the forum exchanging knowledge while merits will automatically come to you if you are on the right track so you can learn from him definitely how to pave your ways on the forum.Best wishes to all the members.

1831  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcasino.io 💜 — 1st licensed crypto casino 🥇 Change the way you play 🚀 on: May 01, 2022, 10:32:01 AM

They should have been verified long long time ago with those kind of numbers. I have to admit that I didn't know they weren't verified, but I have worked with some projects before and they got verified in 6 months thanks to being non-gambling website I suppose.

The only reason I could think of why bitcasino.io wasn't verified must be regarding both crypto and gambling together, shouldn't be that difficult if you ask me. Kudos to them for finally getting it, you guys deserved it long time ago and you guys have been doing a great job, the support is great, games are great, never had any shady deals, always on top of the game and that is why we love you.
Actually Twitter has refined its verification policy and asking users they can again request for verification process request if they want blue tick.So the bitcasino might have reapplied for it and get the account verified.

The number of followers didn't determine if you will get verified or not as they look for other things also and you need to have presence over the community and active for the time. But still Bitcasino.io is now verified which is good for us.
1832  Other / Meta / Re: Save your nice merit records here - LAST UPDATE: 24/03/2022 on: May 01, 2022, 10:13:58 AM
You know, 1111 is a number that seems difficult for me to expand to 1234 and beyond due to the habit of posting on topics that merit sources rarely visit. Make this a good experience for you if you want to rank up because only by making quality posts on good topics will you catch up soon.
I don't know why you haven't saved your merit record for 1111 here as it's really cool number if you see it but don't worry I will save it for you and don't want you to miss this opportunity:

You have gained around 611 merits till now so why do you think it's hard for you to reach next steps? You can gain merits the same way you have done in the past by making quality post and also post in some main boards of the forum taking part in healthy discussions.Keep your hopes and work high and you will see results.
1833  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Support type for the passphrase on: May 01, 2022, 09:49:14 AM
Seed phrase is not the same as passphrase.
Many a time people get confused and used these terms the one way only but passphrase is additional security to your seed phrases and must recommended to use it.But the thing is you also need to have the proper backup for them in case it's not compromised at all.

Most I prefer paper since it can be easily put anywhere and I can easily make as many copies as I want.
Paper backup is good but there are some measure you need to take like to store them in place where it's not damaged with moisture as if get wets the words will spread out in ink even after some time causing problems. The other issues you also know that it could be damaged under other conditions also but wr can have multiple copies sorted out at different safe locations which is best according to me.

Second would be steel washers, since they are very easy to hide, cheap to be made and very durable.
Yes that's nice option for me and i have saved one link for the metal that could survive extreme heat conditions and was perfect for this purpose but accidentally deleted it and it was from GitHub.But seed washers are good way to have proper backup for your seeds rather than paper because we are talking about security of funds that could be small or even a fortune.

There are also nice guides on the forum which i liked for this purpose :

1) Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers

2)n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable)

But at last also you need to have your backup secured in multiple locations with full clarity and check out for them if they are in fine condition or not.
1834  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: May 01, 2022, 09:28:12 AM
Total countries in the World: 195

Countries accepting bitcoin as legal tender in 2022:
1. El Salvador.
2. Central African Republic

Countries accepting bitcoin as legal tender in 2021:
1. El Salvador.

Countries accepting bitcoin as legal tender in 2020:
-

... I think we go up parabolic soon Smiley

Just same post I made in WO thread yesterday having the same opinion :

There were some misconceptions that Panama also followed the legal tender approach but we can't say when it can also turn the tables on to make the third one.But I personally think that the list is going to be above 5 soon with small third world countries rising the flag for support in the first revolutionary phase.

I haven't really noticed so much negativity in the media coverage (then again I read only couple of articles on the subject) but the fact that Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world, with only ~11% people having access to the internet and the civil war that's been going on for 10 years now might be what makes people being skeptic about all this and i must say that I agree with them and I am skeptic about their capability to implement this.

They really have much bigger issues at their hand and it's not something that can be solved by bitcoin becoming legal tender, not even close and while El Salvador is not developed country, it's still in much better situation than CAR.
The condition in CAR is much more worse than we can imagine and around 71% of the population is living under poverty lines and under these cases it's hard to even survive for your meals and btc is tough than we think. We all are bitcoin enthusiast but we still need ways to access it which is hard for these people.Like you need smart phone with internet access and keep you funds safe and affording this is really tough for them.

If you just googled pictures about it your heart will wrench seeing the condition and all this war has made people suffer even more and we know the context of African countries in poverty matters. There will be negativity or even protest by people but at some if government could frame good ways to utilise it and give people some access and some educational camps on how to use LN or keep your funds safe with some sort of free bonus to them.

But still it's challenging for the government to implement it under these conditions. The benefits they could get is many people don't have bank accounts and through bitcoin they can be their own banks but the volatility could affect them hard.Hope there are some revival and growth with bitcoin but there are problems prevailing bigger than it.
1835  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 01, 2022, 08:20:45 AM
Prices are moving like this and it feel boring summer days now :

$38k-----$37k----$38k

1836  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 30, 2022, 12:52:58 PM
Brace yourself up with BTC if you can as the inflation is going wild and it will take on your nerves in coming years so be ready for it :

The countries adopting btc is no more joke and many are going to join this list soon but as we know the supply is limited and next having will shrink it even more with many wants to hold the prices will explode.

This $38k-$40k range is irritating at this time but after few years we will laughing at us or regretting as we have done in the past.Make your side wisely.
1837  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: April 30, 2022, 12:21:01 PM
Roobet may or may not start another competition in near future. If anyone was interested he should have participated in the given time period. If he / she can't meet the deadline, i am afraid they will miss again if roobet decided on another competition.
Those who are serious, would not let go of competition and would not breach the deadline either.  Cool
Can't exactly say they will take long or not for another art contest but seeking the past trends they will soon have another one for the members to provide the artist roobet community engagement prizes and their way to be creative. As you see last two contest were not too far from each other and as soon as results are out @Hhampuz may announce another one.But yes if you are really interested in participating you should submit it on time as you have one month timeline which is enough so be prepared in next one whosoever wants.
1838  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: April 30, 2022, 12:02:50 PM
Sportsbot utility revealed

This is pretty much the available information for now because Rollbit hasnt updated the whitepaper yet. Pretty low amount of profit sharing across most sports except for FIFA but I guess thats it for a 1 month old Sportsbook. Free bets were decent if you have a decent trait eyes bot but each accounts are limited to 1 free bets for 24 hours even if you have multiple Sportsbot
I really liked the concept of having direct benefits association with the traits of Sports Rollbots you are having as this one is new concept for me in NFT space and Rollbit is doing quite well in giving away to players in different manner.

For more information i am also waiting for them to give updates to users through whitepaper.
1839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tip-Don't participate in token sales being influence by Airdrops on: April 30, 2022, 11:47:39 AM
This is the case which people mostly ignore and participate in these airdrops program but here are certain implications related with them :

1) You get some shitcoin tokens which you can't trade off because they are dumped as soon as they are listed on any exchange and now you don't have any liquidity for them to sell in the market

2) Mostly scam projects are there following this method with the aim of getting some public support and end up gaining their funds and giving them some fake tokens

3) They attempt to steal your personal data which you fill up in the airdrop forms and then use them for illicit works like selling them over dark web and many more.

Out of these whole scenario what do you gain at last? You gain nothing but become victims of these scams so stay alert from them.

Coinmarketcap could have easily tracked these projects and delisted them but they have this silly policy of saying anyone can list their projects to avoid centralization, what is the decentralization without a remedy to eject evil projects. Sigh!
You just need your coin to be listed on one exchange and the main factor here is money which they want at the last and will list your coins. There are around 18k coins/tokens listed on CMC but this doesn't provides any sort of guarantee that they are legit. You need to DYOR for yourself and then jump to any conclusions.
1840  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Panama on: April 30, 2022, 09:19:12 AM
It's really good to see another country taking friendly step ahead for legalizing bitcoin and Panama has done this in reality. There were rumours around for it but now the smoke has been cleared with passion of the bill but however i see some misconceptions over the net and Twitter also where people are assuming that BTC is legal tender in Panama which is not so true.

In actual case they have legalised the use of bitcoin payments in the country with passing of the bill and the best thing I liked about is 0% capital gain tax over it but the bill is still to be signed by the President as cleared by this tweet also :

But still it's good approach as Panama might be changing some rules giving it legal status in future but according to me if you are free to use bitcoin as payment system which is the base model for it then it's much better. The Panama's 50% population don't have a bank account and this could be game changing for them if they accept it.We have seen many people strikes and protest in El Salvador when it passed the legal status law.Hope people understand it and at last btc is free money but we can't impose it on people as it dematerialise the whole concept of freedom.

Speaking of US dollar then you can easily use it in Panama without even exchanging it as foreign currency as it's used in coexistence with the Panama legal currency Balboas in ratio of 1:1 which means 1 Balboas is equal to 1 USD .

Quote
. Since 1904 one Balboa equals one US Dollar and since then, the US Dollar has legally circulated in Panama. In other words, in practice, the currency used day-to-day in Panama is the US dollar, which is also legal tender. For this reason, Panama is considered a dollarized country and was the second economy in the continent to become a dollarized economy. Currently there are Panamanian coins that have the same weight, dimension and composition of the coins used in the USA (1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents). Panama also has its own $1 coin. For paper money, only the US Dollar is used (there are no paper Balboas).

For more details head to this file to check out the Dollarised economy Panama

This image speaks thousand words if you clearly understand it from depth :

The world is recognising the importance of bitcoin and how could it embrace themselves to rise against poverty to some extent and counter inflation. But still many will oppose this in fear of just losing control out of their hands but there are more important things than this.

The Bukele speculation about two more countries following the same step are turning out to be true slowly as @fillippone's thread about various countries accepting btc increases so hope this projection goes on mass scale soon.
