1062  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 24, 2022, 12:30:19 PM
Really? If someone is making positive contribution for a long time but haven't received the 50 merits benchmark and still a newbie, they will be spammer in 99%, 1% exception. Lately, I haven't see any such member from a local board even.
Don't know if there is any such member in the local boards or general who have contributed effectively to the forum and have made quality post but still not managed ti reach the 50 earned merit level then probably he has not made useful Post. The reason is let's assume he is not noticed by the sources but we already have this thread where he can submit his post for merit as he is familiar with forum as local board submission is also there.

Speaking about general boards then also sources and other members must have merited them but we can say that if we are talking about specific time period like say he has registered few days back or few weeks back then it's hard to earn 50 merits but as said he/she might be familiar with forum categories then he has spend quality time here so he can gain merits as well.We have more merit giving threads like this one from @fillippone also where he can gain additional merits.

But the point is that if 50 merits line is set for submitting your vote then it's fine giving memebers familiar with forum and good members a chance otherwise it will also be spammed up and hard to reach on the final results so keeping it this way is good according to me.
1063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To those who do not care about their privacy. Why? on: November 24, 2022, 12:08:08 PM
I get that, and of course people are free to completely give up their privacy for some tiny convenience or so they can show their friends pictures of their Starbucks coffee or some other stupid reason if they choose. But it needs to be an informed choice. And it never is.

Every centralized exchange buries somewhere in their Terms of Use that they know >99% don't read the small print in confusing legal language about your data being confidential and only disclosed with selected third parties under certain provisions. If these exchanges instead put in plain language on their sign up page "Your data will be shared with a bunch of complete strangers for regulatory reasons, sold to a bunch more third parties just because we can, and almost certainly leaked or hacked at some point in the future", then perhaps people would think twice about completing KYC. If all the people who bleat the nonsense "Well, I've got nothing to hide" were instead shown the results of people going bankrupt because of identity theft and having their lives ruined, they would think twice. People who give up their privacy freely are very rarely informed about the risks they are taking, precisely because large companies like Binance, Coinbase, Amazon, Facebook, etc. thrive on people not understanding these risks and handing over their data.
People are actually not serious about their privacy and have false belief that these exchange or centralised services just need to have your documents in order to compile with the AML policies and other nonsense they come up with in order to fool people. They submit their documents and get their funds and that's it they are happy without even realising the fact they have completely compromised their security with it.

You are right on the part that these exchanges have small points and breakpoint that users don't pay attention to while signing up there and also submit documents through KYC process but these data stores and then handed over to governments in order to keep track of your activity and on dark web to be utilised in illicit activities and is that fine with people? They are actually taking it on a very funny note that it's the process and you have to go through it without even realising how dangerous it could be for them.

The word privacy don't have any meaning for them because they are not even analysing the risk of taking their funds over these CEX so what else security we can expect from them and big data companies and government are taking advantage of it with their data.
1064  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: JP Morgan chase is now official as a trademark for crypto wallet (Morgan Wallet) on: November 23, 2022, 01:58:22 PM

This is it exactly. JP Morgan have always been, and continue to be, threatened by bitcoin. They tried the ignore you, laugh at you, and attack you approaches. All failed. So now they've simply decided to get in for themselves. They'll allow you to "buy" bitcoin, but only if you don't actually buy bitcoin and instead buy a worthless IOU on their centralized platform which they have complete control over, backed up by imaginary fiat they print out of thin air. They'll "support" bitcoin, in that they will lobby lawmakers for new laws and regulations which benefit themselves but do not benefit bitcoin. They will continue to spy on you, collect your data, share it with your government, and censor you or close your account if they see something they don't like. And for all of this, they'll charge some ridiculous fees.

They don't care about bitcoin. They don't care about you. They only care about getting left behind and not making profits.
Right they are behind their personal profits only because they have tried their best in shattering the image of bitcoin seeing it as a competition in the initial phase and could not bend on the pipe so they decided why not be part of it by providing clients with these services and earn profits out of it and in the side they can also utilise their own centralised shit token by supplying it to the users so they can earn out of it but people won't see it and this is how they will make fool to them.
1065  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: November 23, 2022, 01:47:45 PM
Anyway Rollbit has added a new house game plinko, I tried to play and it's fun and exciting. It can be addicting so play responsibly.
It all depends on your lucky day and some are lucky most of the time but it doesn't mean they always win so we should play with hopes and motivation always.

Yes it's new addition of Plinko to the Rollbit and they have promoted it on twitter through which I came to know about it and have not played myself but will surely give it try soon to see the outcome but yes we should always be gambling in our limits and keeping self control.
1066  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]Google Form Email Scam on: November 23, 2022, 01:38:02 PM
This is clearly one of the phising scams we witness in the crypto space and do you think google will be sending you bitcoins without any cause? At this time also 0.03BTC values at around $500 so do you think you will get this amount free of cost? This is one of those scams where you will be directed towards other websites as you have stated and in your case they ask for donations first of all to redeem your amount and some might be willing to send it over to that particular address and loose them in instant.

But as you said out of curiosity you want to see what happens and outcomes but clicking on these links is also not safe at all as some malware can be installed in your system without you even knowing about it draining all your personal information and sometimes wallet are also hacked so don't get excited in these matters and leave them as it is or unsubscribe to these mails improving your security.
1067  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcasino.io 🖤 - Road to Riches raffle taking you to Las Vegas! ✈️ on: November 23, 2022, 01:23:03 PM
I don't like to bet on sportsbooks and I just saw a slot game like this, a little relying on skills at the penalty, I'll go right away and try it right away like it's really fun I'm sure it's busy playing there right now having fun in a new game
Yes it's seems to be fun although have not played it but the part which interested me in this game is penalty after you have 3 bonus cards with you and now you have to apply your mindset to play and score the goal and also take turn as goalkeeper so will ask the team to have it on the platform.

By the way thanks for bringing it up @Betwrong and will try it once to see how much fun it is.
1068  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything you wanted to know about ES Volcano Bond and were afraid to ask! on: November 23, 2022, 01:09:27 PM
Also heard about the same on twitter and finally after a year they have submitted to securities bill with congress to issue the bitcoin bonds in the country.Altough Nayib has not made official tweet about the same but he has retweeted the Bloomberg report which clearly indicates the sign that they are close to the action.

The bill can be approved before this year Christmas as per some sources so we will see how it goes for the most anticipated fund raising in El Salvador at $1 billion split in half of $500 million.

Quote
The bonds will pay a 6.5% yield and enable fast-tracked citizenship for investors. The government will share half the additional gains with investors as a Bitcoin Dividend once the original $500 million has been monetized. These dividends will be dispersed annually using Blockstream's asset management platform.

Quote
Bitfinex is set to be granted a license in order to be able to process and list the bond issuance in El Salvador.

@fillippone can you find the translated version for it?

If anyone is interested in reading the full 33 page of securities bill then they can find out it here : Bitcoin bonds
1069  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: November 23, 2022, 12:55:52 PM
Hi all, glad my work has been appreciated.
If you want, I can also try a long-lasting acid test. the short contact only creates a removable scult, in the long run it should only favor rust but I can easily do this test and publish the results.
Great work man and it's really nice to see members testing the extreme conditions that these washers can survive because we are talking about engraving our seed phrases over them. But yes the acid test would be giving more specific results and does it have any effect over it or not so will be good if you publish the results.

I think steel is corrosive to diluted nitric acid with water but yes you can try it with diluted H2SO4 to see if there is any effect that can cause damage to the engraved seed over them or not.
1070  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: November 22, 2022, 01:50:49 PM

1071  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcasino.io 🖤 - Road to Riches raffle taking you to Las Vegas! ✈️ on: November 22, 2022, 01:34:47 PM
I will be supporting England but as a big Liverpool fan I will be following the games of our club players.

Good luck this weekend gambling guys, I have my fingers crossed for all of you.

Peace!
Can vouch for that and have seen your support to the club when you went along with @El duderino_ to see the match and it was posted on the WO section but thanks for giving us head up for the game so let's see what exciting results it could bring for all gamblers along with the real fun it has to come up with.
1072  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: JP Morgan chase is now official as a trademark for crypto wallet (Morgan Wallet) on: November 22, 2022, 01:20:39 PM
JP Morgan are not your friend.

Their wallet website does not mention bitcoin nor cryptocurrency even once. This looks very much like it is going to be geared towards CBDCs, not bitcoin. And if it does support bitcoin, I am 100% sure they will run a fractional reserve just like every other centralized exchange and it will all go to shit eventually.

Don't think that JP Morgan are in this for anyone but themselves. You would be a fool to use this wallet.
They have said about crypto payments and the trademark was registered but yes you are right on the part they will be benefiting from it themselves. They have played crypto card but in reality they might be trying users of the wallet to transfer funds using their JPM coin based on their blockchain so they are into personal profits in the primary phase but people will consider as they have shown great support to crypto market.

But in reality they have turned their stones from speaking negative about bitcoin and crypto in the past to going for self wallet trademark why? Because they are seeing profits and whole lot of people into this and by providing these services they can make more profits and use their stablecoin also. But don't fall for it easily.
1073  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX comedy and might be another exchange that bites the dust? on: November 22, 2022, 01:04:46 PM

SBF is clearly doxxed and well known, as is Caroline Ellison. As the court documents show, they kept no records of deposits, they didn't even know what bank accounts they had, and they simply helped themselves to customers' money for their own personal use. They must have realized that at some point people were going to try to withdraw funds which they had already spent and the whole thing was going to come crashing down? Surely they must have realized they were going to get found out eventually, no? The only other possibility is that they hoped that they could continue to attract enough new users to run it as a Ponzi for 50+ years until after they were both dead, which is just hilariously naive.

Imagine being in crypto and still trusting people like this with your coins instead of having them in your own wallet. It beggars belief.
Exactly they were not expecting this reality to be out soon and keep on the same way till the time CZ decided to dump the FTT token and whole balance sheet got leaked causing the crash of the FTX and another scam which involved $600 million of funds stolen is great way to cover up your story and gain funds in your custody. At this time SBF is under government supervision but yes they were trying to scam people as much possible through the exchange working. They had in mind that they can use your funds as not whole people are coming up for withdrawal and even if they show up they will be imposed with restrictions but the whole scenario got worst when cover for Sam was blown and now he is on the run.

People keeping up their coins with these exchange have learnt their another lesson that what it seems might not be the case and there is lot of scam here until you take custody of your funds with yourself because others will try to scam you always.
1074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hacker of FTX dumping ETH for BTC on: November 22, 2022, 12:38:15 PM
Isn't renBTC a centralized shittoken on ethereum platform? In other words it is not even bitcoin and it may never be converted to bitcoin. They may even seize it there or funnier would be if they exchange rate of this shittoken dropped to something like 1BTC:1000renBTC ratio Smiley
Yeah it's ERC-20 token pledged to 1BTC and mostly used for bridging the cross blockchain transfers which is why many hackers used it and as per reports million of dollars have been launder through the Ren bridge which is the case here.

This is the address of the hacker who has used it and converted ETH into this another shitcoin on ETH blockchain

Quote
On-chain examination of the new wallet reveals that the exploiter began converting Ether to renBTC using the decentralised exchange aggregator 1inch. The first of these transactions was the conversion of 4,000 ether to wrapped bitcoin (wBTC), another token representing Bitcoin, and subsequently to renBTC.

But these all are user funds over FTX exchange and the actual loss if for people not the exchange so just another warning for all why not your keys not your coins is perfect in these cases.
1075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Crypto survive? on: November 22, 2022, 12:18:02 PM

That's normal. Anybody who has any amount of bitcoin fees like that when they see a big drop, more so when price goes below a certain strong resistance such as $20k, even more so when the drop is illogical (like a panic sale).
But if you think the psychological pressure is too much it may be because you have invested more than you can afford to lose and you may want to make some changes in an appropriate time.
Right and the point is that we all are under pressure when we see our investment going down with all the negativity surrounding the market with all the red candles but you need to control your emotional play at that time if you have invested in bitcoin for long term. Then you feel relieved be as you are not into selling at that time but on the contrary if you find it as investment opportunities to get them at discounted rates you will be doing the same.

The main profit/loss will occur only at the time of selling of your coins because if your investment has gone down or up with the current market prices it's unrealised gain or loss but if you can manage to hold it for long term and prices boost up your automatically comes into profitable situation. But as you said the main problem with people is they sell under pressure and panic in the market giving them loss. The main reasons for it are :

1) They expected bitcoin to be short way of becoming rich fast but when this does not happen or they see little correction in prices they start panicking and sell off at loss also to get out of market with FUD and loss in their hands.

2) Investment of more they can afford to loose which builds up more psychological pressure and you think it's better to take out the remaining balance before it goes to zero

3) Investment based on someone's else influence without even researching about bitcoin and they make fool out of people so they need to make their own decisions.

But as said if you are long term holder then check out the returns for bitcoin for over 4-5 years you will find profits only.
1076  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elon Musk want to buy bitcointalk on: November 19, 2022, 01:54:16 PM
Have you kissed his feet yet? I'm really amazed people are fans of this rich guy, who does not have the same interests as you. None of what he does is in your interest!
They are the same people who got influenced by his tweets and make investment decision based under his influence and that troll manipulative guy took advantage of these people to make profits out of their pockets. They think what he is doing is right and support him to be part of the new scenario where he is some influential person for the group of fools.

Speaking about forum then he is not gonna have it from @theymos as this is open discussion forum and he will not let it happen and make it worse like you could pay for $10 to get legendary account and spam the whole forum without any restriction so would it be fine for you? Leave him in his interest and don't overthink the useless things.
1077  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: November 19, 2022, 01:43:25 PM
If you speak about Rollbit promotions then you should probably check for the Twitter updates and you will find out that they are official sponsor of @rektradio podcast and they were also offering NFT to one lucky listener worth million dollar so what big promotion we are looking for? They are efficient in this way and you will find out once you check for it.
1078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin can be centralised or decentralised on: November 19, 2022, 01:23:14 PM
I'm not 100% sure if I totally get what you're trying to say, but you're probably getting mixed up between centralized/decentralized and custodial/non-custodial.
Yeah this is appropriate in the above context because if you are using CEX then bitcoin is in their custody as they have the keys under their control so this is something say having the ownership of your coins with it they can spend it but this doesn't change the nature of bitcoin and it remains decentralised only. With using these exchange you are diluting the purpose of bitcoin as keeping your funds in custody of centralised service won't help you at all.

This is what actually @OP might be trying to explain that if you are not keeping your funds under your custody then actually you are not having the usage of decentralisation as these exchange will put restrictions on you like KYC norms or even under government pressure they can give users data to them in order to track your records or not allowing you to withdraw your funds so you are not experiencing decentralisation with it but we need to be appropriate in usage of terms here.
1079  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 19, 2022, 01:05:01 PM
Great news!
I have already started working on my update, and I already added sarcasm on your slacking habits.
But the harsh reality is crust you are way more efficient than I am.
So, good work my friend!
You both are good at your levels and it requires lot of work to compile the monthly statistics reports for the local board activity so you can take your time with this one also. But yes we have to take on this one that @Rikafip is doing quite a good job in them and being preety fast from last few reports.

But you also take your time and maybe you come up with your own crux of reports in your style within next few days so waiting for it also.
1080  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: November 18, 2022, 12:24:02 PM
yes, that's quite big
maybe they're holding the announcement a little bit due to all the craziness of last week

I wonder if Roobet will end up picking other famous people as embassadors in the future
In brazilian football we're starting to see lots of betting platforms advertising
I think it's quite late for Roobet if they want to hire a brand ambassador for the world cup promotion since it's already 3 days before the first match will happen. Maybe Roobet only looking for UFC and boxing first since their mascot is kangaroo which is usually linked to martial art or boxing. It wouldn't be easy too for casino to hire a football player to become brand ambassador, I've remember there's a problem to the player when he promote gambling site, but I can't find the thread.

yes, maybe too late for the world cup but football will stay around for a long time

not sure about gambling regulations but you may be right, this probably varies widely from country to country as well.
There are some gambling sites which have players as their brand ambassador but as said you need to put million of dollars at stake which can be utilised in some other way of promoting the business making them earn more profits so the team has everything planned according to market and their budget.
