1841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'll try to pay my dentist with BTC on: February 16, 2016, 10:13:52 PM
Also, and I'm not trying to be mean here, why necessarily pay with bitcoin? I understand going there for the prices, but still.

Exactly, Bitcoin as a payment system has to die, that notion is ridiculous and no common person will adopt it if we continue with the same song. Bitcoin should be more like gold, and investment where you can store your wealth for new generations. As a payment system it just doesn't make sense when there's credit cards, cash, paypal, etc. Plus you will lose your precious BTC.
1842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is current monero's rise legit or just a pump and dump thing? on: February 16, 2016, 09:52:45 PM
I don't think privacy is something to be celebrated in terms of currency, that's why you see so many scammers and hacks in Bitcoin. Exchanges keep running away with their money, etc. Privacy is a delicate issue and 100% is something utopic, you may feel that you don't like being filmed in public spaces but you just have to put up with it, no other way around it. With money it's different, business must be regulated and we as civilians living under government still need to play under certain rules. I'm all for financial sensible information not leaking out if you don't want to, but if every transaction can't be traced then you are giving criminals a great tool. Decentralized and P2P currency is great, completely anonymous not so sure...
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kanye West reveals he’s $53 million in debt, asks Mark Zuckerberg for money on: February 16, 2016, 08:32:58 PM
Lol I love Kanye, I don't get the hate, he's very talented and hilarious. I've heard his remastering Life Of Pablo already and will release a new version soon! He's that crazy.
1844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joca97 & CarlesPuyol Biggest Challenge made in Bitcointalk forum *Jar* on: February 16, 2016, 07:01:53 PM
Wow another great idea and thread to follow, I wish you guys the best of luck. I'll try to enter but I'm so low on BTC right now that I'll have to wait for the next week I guess.
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cheapest price you bought your Bitcoin(s) on: February 16, 2016, 07:00:40 PM
I've bought at the lowest point basically last year at $220 or $230 I think, it was not so long ago and I thought I was taking a huge risk. I didn't get too much though but still for me it will be hard to buy anymore unless is around $300, I wouldn't be comfortable buying now at more than $400 even if I have faith it could close the year at $500-600. There just too many issues with BTC right now but I'll never sell my share unless having some bitcoins equals real money, like life changing money.

1847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 16, 2016, 06:05:24 PM
Kevin Love to Boston? Hmm after the force trade by the CAVS because of LBJ's request and now this rumors pop ups?

If happen, I think this will be a multiple team deal but I think it won't happen. This is a sh*t move from Cavs after releasing Wiggins for Love.

Thoughts?

#ownopinion

I don't think Kevin Love will be moved, Cavs fan here. I guess since Boston has a lot of players and always showed interested in Kevin Love so I can see there's a possibility there. The only players I've heard are available to trade in the roster are Shumpert and Mozgov, weird though since I think Varejao would also be on the block.
1848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: February 16, 2016, 05:11:12 PM
I don't think it is the people that prefer banks, but companies and governments sure need them, so as long as they exist it's fairly safe to predict there will be banks. Now I'm sure they will start to transform into something different, hell if you have some years or have relatives or friends that worked in the industry you know how different it is to work in a bank now than 25-30 years ago.
1849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you could rename Bitcoin what would it be? on: February 16, 2016, 04:44:11 PM
I think it's an interesting idea to change its name but keep all the rest intact besides any new improvements of course. This way we can have a more clean image for it without all the bad press from the old days, drugs, silk road, mt gox, etc. It can also become more regulated without losing its decentralized identity too.

A name change could also mean instability so on the other hand it could be a very bad decision.
1850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: James Bond Inside A Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine on: February 16, 2016, 04:16:06 PM
Hahaha, this was hilarious and could catch up with all the nerd lingo kinda like the Hitler's bunker one. Not sure if it could have the same effect but depends on the creativity of each one.
1851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For Sex Industry, Bitcoin Steps In Where Credit Cards Fear To Tread on: February 16, 2016, 02:49:16 PM
I'm not sure what's up but there has been like 3 or 4 of these threads lately, there must be people really trying hard to hype Bitcoin for the sex industry haha. As discussed on other threads there are tons of problems for sex workers like prostitutes and escorts but for porn I'm surprised it didn't catched on besides some cam girls accepting it...
1852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 16, 2016, 02:53:27 AM
Lots of rumours going on, Howard to Hawks, Faried and Griffin on the trade block and many more. Do you guys think we'll have some major trades before the deadline?

Always man! There's too much money involved & the competition is fierce. We always see some player movement as we near the deadline. Agents get involved too which usually makes stuff happen.

Exactly, we can even see 3 or 4-team trades before deadline. I'm expecting Jennings trade from Detroit.
Melo ain't going nowhere but maybe New York add another player to the squad.

There are so many more rumours, Horford, Ibaka, Korver, Teague, Shumpert, Mozgov, etc. I didn't hear anything about Jennings but it's definitely one that can be moved since Reggie Jackson will most likely takes all the minutes at PG (already is). Also Morris and Chandler from Phoenix. This is one of the best time of the season for me personally, I always like to hear about new trades and possibilities that can turn a mediocre team into a contender or give that extra push for a bad team to make the playoffs.
1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10 BTC. Will I be a millionaire by 2030? on: February 16, 2016, 01:50:27 AM
There's not a chance in hell sorry. Many things will have to fall into place for first Bitcoin get adopted. For this too happen demand should be much higher than it is now, so no one really needs Bitcoin, it's just something that just exists, it doesn't solve any problem, it's an unique technology and could potentially change economy but it can also fail and crash hard.

Secondly, if Bitcoin starts getting big investors or make deals (something I doubt because no companie will touch it with its bad image) you will need to hold TIGHT. For example, let's say Bitcoin reinvents itself as a secure way to store wealth, kinda like digital gold. No payment transactions bullshit or things like that, just a commodity. If it works very well and it's highly secure and regulated, then people would love to get in. The price will definitely shoot up during that period and it can be a lot since there are only 21 millions as we all know. This is where it gets complicated, if the values goes from let's say $1000 in 2020 to $5000 or $10000 very quickly, then you will be VERY tempted to sell them.

This is what happened to many of early adopters, they just didn't know where the ceiling was, so they thought, hey I have 1000 BTC, $20 each is a lot of money and then sold. If they would've done that at the peak, they will be millionaires.
1854  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: DirectBet Basketball Prediction Game *** Win Free Bets ! *** Free to Enter ! on: February 15, 2016, 06:40:39 PM
I don't think there's any winners for the scores prediction, but maybe for winning margin, it was a 23 pts difference for the West and I predicted 15 pts (so 8pts) so there must be someone who predicted less than that at least for the consolation prize.

should be mandatory say the difference in the post, will be crazy calculate it and even if someone got it right might overlook it

I'm not doing that work, I declare myself the winner unless someone proves me wrong, hehe
1855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 15, 2016, 06:10:15 PM

Maybe yes maybe no. But I think yes.

Recently Carmelo Anthony of New York Knicks finally gives an end on his trade rumors. He says he will not go anywhere.

Rubio, Howard, Griffin are amongst on the list rumors list now. And to my favorite team, the Dallas Mavericks, I recently read some trade rumors in their roster. Let' see.

I don't think Carmelo will be traded but Griffin and Howard most likely will. There seems to be a discontent from both Houston and LA and feels like it came to a point of no return there. Carmelo I feel that will be moved only if NY can get some actually talent back. The problem is that Carmelo is just too much of a one dimensional player, can't play D and lately he has been injured.

1858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Deadpool on: February 15, 2016, 04:45:23 PM
the movie "dope" (2015)  didn't get as widespread attention but the whole premise was around being forced to sell drugs for bitcoin and such.  much more bitcoin mentions then one unnoticeable sign above a bar in a random scene.

I didn't see that one yet, I've read good reviews but didn't know it revolved around Bitcoin, sadly (and I'm sure it was not the film makers intention) it sounds like it ties Bitcoin with drugs, so more negative press even if any intelligent people would understand it's not BTC fault. However the association is just to engrained into society's mind eye, that's why I always say that Bitcoin will never be picked up by a huge serious company or business, they are only after the blockchain.
1859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The thing that will destroy Bitcoin. on: February 15, 2016, 04:33:09 PM
I'm glad more users here are actually discussing and criticizing Bitcoin current state. These are the steps that must be done in order for it to improve no so many empty praises from signature campaigners (I should know I'm one of them) praising Bitcoin like it's the second coming while at the same time it's impossible for a common person to choose it over any other method (Paypal, CCs, etc).

I think Bitcoin should reinvent itself and focus on what I think was its first intention, virtual gold. As a payment system is completely useless in my opinion, at least for everyday life. Confirmations take forever, it's a complete hassle, having to convert decimals all the time, who needs that when you have Paypal or a simple credit card swipe right? But as a commodity it has a lot of potential, so much more than we can imagine.
1860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin. $15-$25. This Year. on: February 15, 2016, 06:19:36 AM
Please, that's a good prediction for ETH in the next months. Bitcoin is already done for and you think Litecoin stands a chance? Is funny to see people excited by a little spike in price for Bitcoin, I tend to think people and companies are buying BTC just to get ETH, therefore the recent price increase.

Bitcoin and Ether have two different use cases.
-Bitcoin will be nothing more than a commodity but a very valuable one (best distribution there will ever be).
-Ethereum is more about smart contracts
-Ripple and their Interledger Protocol will make XRP the perfect bridge currency

So there will not be one winner. I like ETH but I think it is over priced at the moment.

I do not see Litecoin hitting 15$ - it only hit 8$ before its own halving.  Plus ETH and XRP will steal some of it's thunder.

I don't know about Ripple since I'm not sure how a centralized coin could fit into that but I think you are right that those 3 could definitely be onto something. I think Bitcoin is done for in the term of currency, it will never be adopted by the mainstream, but it can definitely reinvent itself like you said, as a commodity and invesment option, kinda like gold.

I definitely not agree that ETH is overpriced. Compared to what? it depends on how much it can achieve. It's like saying Bitcoin was overpriced at $10, $50 or $100 really. There's only 72 millions ETH, if the platform becomes a standard for developing apps in major companies and around the world, they will need that fuel to run them. $5 a piece it's nothing really when you have a coin as divisible as Bitcoin. The difference is that Bitcoin is not actually needed for anything so it's more of a commodity as you said.
