2461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't let bitcoin overtake your soul on: December 25, 2015, 02:53:50 PM
Although it is a sad story you can almost replace Bitcoin to any other hobbie that becomes an obsession, investment, videogame or even a perfectly legal job if you think about it. There are people addicted to their jobs in the same way many are addicted to food or drugs.

So my point is, if it wasn't Bitcoin it would be another thing, you definitely have a problem that needs to be treated because you will do it again.
2462  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hold onto your balls gentlemen , the halvening is coming! ;) on: December 25, 2015, 02:39:45 PM
The article is definitely geared to non Bitcoin holders I guess, 99% of this forum, except maybe some lurkers or newbies already have some basic knowledge about the halvening in particular. Either way, I have a more let's wait and see approach, I'm not sure if it will be such a clear situation.

What's the point of this sad troll attempt? I don't understand some users who have plenty of activity, what are you doing here? Anyway, it did go up in the recent weeks, not sure where did you get those $700 numbers though.
2465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin just hit the 15,000,000 mark! on: December 24, 2015, 06:51:31 PM
Amazing, I had no idea we were at those numbers already. And I agree with the rest, many of those are lost, locked or just not for sale hehe, so imagine what can happen in the next upcoming years...
2466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: December 24, 2015, 06:39:46 PM
That moneyline picks is easy. Any handicap tips out there? Excited here for CAVS against GSW match. Will bet on Cavs for Moneyline.

If it's easy go chase hard bets. My strategy is playing more guaranteed bets and expand the cash over time. I don't try to make %100 over nights. If you don't win you keep your cash. Consistency is better than one-time big wins. Win 200 nights of 365 days with lower odds is better for me.

I agree and I follow a similar approach but either way nothing is certain. I'm definitely with the Cavs for tomorrow's game if someone is willing to take that risk! They will try to get revenge for last year finals and they have their full squad ready to go, it will be great.
2467  Other / Off-topic / Re: How would you guys react if you guys lost 10, 000 bitcoin? on: December 23, 2015, 07:02:06 PM
The number is just so hard to realize for me, so maybe I can think of 10 or 100 BTC...hehe. It would definitely suck for many months but I don't think I would get too depressed unless that was all I had, as in savings. I have much less than 1 BTC right now and to me that's a treasure even if it's nothing in real life but if I lose it I would feel the same way as losing a huge amount of money really. Life won't change unless it's your whole savings or bankroll.
2468  Economy / Gambling / Re: I am done! on: December 23, 2015, 06:56:42 PM
I agree it is hard to quit cold turkey that's why I gave him my advice. This is just the same for alcoholics or general addicts. Why ban yourself out of something forever and ever? Why the extremes? What you want to achieve is the comfort to play or drink just a little, not to get wasted or bet to win what you've lost in the last year...

If you quit cold turkey, the temptation becomes stronger and you could end up betting more when you succumb. Just play some dollars each week if you enjoy it and see if you win something. If not, you had fun.
2469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Android or ios for mobile Bitcoin transactions? on: December 23, 2015, 06:50:12 PM
In terms of security there should be no question, iOS. I've used it in the recent past but there wasn't a lot of options. Android has plenty but for me it's a very insecure OS, at least it gives me that vibe. I'm definitely not a fanboy but I would trust much more in Apple than in Google, that's just me though. If you use altcoins, then Android is the way to go since if there's a wallet for it, Android has it.
2470  Other / Off-topic / Re: Poker millonaire superstar Daniel Negreanu gets his accounts frozen on: December 23, 2015, 06:36:06 PM
The bank definitely wants out of the "bad" reputation Negreanu is sending them. That if there's no more than meets the eye, many sports stars had a lot of trouble with the law and tax evasion and I won't be surprised if some of that is what's actually going on.
2471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: December 23, 2015, 02:03:28 PM
I would bet on Cleveland until they lose (yes even against GSW @ The Oracle). I think they are starting a run that might be more than 10-15 games.

I will bet on Cavs too in Moneyline. The odds I think will be better to them since GSW is the lead team here and it will played @ The Oracle. This will be really a Christmas trill for all NBA fans.

Definitely, the Cavs are the team to beat right now with Irving & Shumpert healthy. The game @ The Oracle will be a huge test but if they manage to get past the Warriors then I don't see them losing for a long time...

2473  Economy / Gambling / Re: I am done! on: December 23, 2015, 04:20:19 AM
Don't just quit cold turkey, just bet to have some fun and consider that money gone when you decide to bet it. The casinos will always win, that's their business, however you can have some fun and be entertained just the same. The problem is that many gamblers take it seriously and think they have what it takes, I never really understood how intelligent people keep falling for this.
2474  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're going to crash! Here's proof! on: December 23, 2015, 04:12:49 AM
Reminded me of the movie Rainman with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. Then I also remember that being autistic doesn't make you a genius unless you're the savant variety. Anyway we are not going to crash so he may be in his off streak.
2475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone used to think nothing could come along thats Bigger than the Internet on: December 22, 2015, 10:27:39 PM
Hopefully it evolves the same way the Internet evolved, it starts to become massively adopted, maybe not by common people but in companies and stores, banks, credit cards, etc. For me the niche was always fast and small digital transactions to avoid entering credit card numbers or register in different sites, you just recharge that with fiat for apps, games, digital goods, whatever you like and off you go.

However most people don't seem to mind having to enter credit card numbers or give personal details and register on every site on the planet just to make a purchase.
2476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Beginning of the trend reversal on: December 22, 2015, 08:09:29 PM
Sub $400 is possible, but it is just a short term blip. The price will rise in long term.

I agree, the price has been rising all year and if you take a larger time frame we all know value rises every year since its creation. These fluctuations are expected, but if you ask me it will stay above $400 but as you said sub $400 is also possible, not a huge dip though.
2477  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you vote for Trump? on: December 22, 2015, 02:21:45 PM
Although I can see the appeal of Trump for some, but no one in his right mind can vote for him really, he seems like a deranged man with a power trip. I understand how for some he can appear bold and full of confidence, but come on, there must be someone else better. United States is at its best international relationship with Obama, if Trump is elected it will go back to Bush era in a second.
2478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Waiting for the day when Amazon & eBay accept BTC on: December 22, 2015, 04:45:44 AM
Not only anonymity is a huge issue, the non refundable feature also plays a bit role in not being accepted. What many of users here think it's an advantage of BTC, it's actually huge cons on adoptability.

Refunds can be sorted out on site (eBay can act as a temporary escrow per transaction) I guess. Anonymity is the bigger issue because even if you make someone register, the company can't really trust where the money came from compared to PayPal, CCs or bank accounts.
2479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shift - Bitcoin Visa Card - now available in the US on: December 22, 2015, 12:25:12 AM
I can't test it but I hope this is one of the first steps into making Bitcoin more easily accesible since right now it's still on its infancy. If more people realize that Bitcoin can become a niche for digital payments so you don't have to register a credit card in every site then most of us will have a Bitcoin wallet loaded with some spare money for trivial things like that. Digital goods, gambling, apps, porn (!?) and many others!
2480  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why does paypal considered as scam attempt? on: December 21, 2015, 11:13:19 PM
From my knowledge it is because Paypal is a refundable method of payment and Bitcoin is not. So if they send money first you would think it's finished and send BTC but they can reverse that payment and leave you with nothing. I don't know how easy it is though, but Paypal always side with the sender in this case.
