1861  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling with BTC in countries where BTC isn't defined as money - Legality? on: April 10, 2015, 01:14:25 PM
I no longer reside in the US, but online gambling was a huge issue there when I did. Now with BTC being declared a commodity rather than a currency, what does this mean for online gambling, especially sports betting? Does anyone know what the legal authorities have said about services like Cloudbet?

Many americans play at Bitcoin casinos and as long as they didn't used Coinbase as their wallet to send and receive  coins to those sites, they didn't had any problems.

The problem is if someone is running a Bitcoin gambling site from within USA or using servers which come under US regulation, then they're considered illegal because gaming authorities cannot allow UN-licensed casinos, on-line or off-line.
1862  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-09] CS - Paying the Bitcoin Ransom Was the Last Resort on: April 10, 2015, 12:43:37 PM
It can affect people's confidence to Bitcoin, in fact this error occurs because the user is not careful against all incoming email. Embarrassed

No, I don't know how Bitcoin is to be blamed here or that it should affect people's confidence in Bitcoin, It was just a malware attack by hackers and it has happened before. In-fact this should be taken as a wake up call that institutions who have important data should think about their cyber security and apart from they should understand the importance of making off-line backups.

What if this was not a ransom-ware but just a real nasty virus that instead of locking the files just destroyed them, who should have been blamed then? the hackers, right?

So as I said it's just that they need to learn to take cyber security seriously and take back-ups regularly to avoid things like this happening in future.

1865  Economy / Digital goods / Re: selling gmails on: April 09, 2015, 03:52:51 PM
I wanted to know about that too. Someone mentioned in another post that if you sign in via a different IP, then GMAIL requires another phone verification to actually log into the account. Is this true? If I don't have to verify every account then I'm interested as well for some.
Yes, If you login with another IP or use VPN Gmail will ask you to verify the account with the phone number you'd entered earlier while registering.

Yes on top of that there is always security risk. Anyone who has that number which was used to verify that email can anytime claim that his email was hacked and then Gmail would simply lock the email address and give it back to it's right full owner, which in this case would be the member who has the Phone number which was used to get it verified.

So in the end it's not worth it to have someone else verify your accounts (whatever accounts that maybe) because they can be easily claimed back by the phone verifier.
1866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to carry out a double spend using blocochain.info? on: April 09, 2015, 03:37:00 PM
No, I don't think thats possible. To do that one would need 51% Mining power. Only one of those tx might be included in the block and the other one gets dropped and you can't choose which one.
You can do that attack with any amount of hashpower as long as the merchant don't require large amount of confirmation and you mine the next few/next block. but of course, the probability to succeed is lower if your hashrate is lower than 51%.

So what he is saying, is that possible?

See the personal text? There's written genius! I have another way to make money if double spend works! I don't have to withdraw Smiley

Edit:
I'm not sure about the sites to find detailed information but I usually find them on Bitcointalk so try to Google it.

They can be abused if you have some mining power. Send a transaction to the address with 0 fees then another to your own address also with 0 fees. Bet all the money that appears in your account if win then use the mining power to include the transaction sent to the address from 999dice and confirm it. If you lost, then confirm the other one.

Is this possible if I have mining power? This is not the idea I have though! If my deposit just shows up I make money Smiley No need for any wd Smiley

I mean if one can do this, he won't lose a bet as whatever bet he looses, he will cancel that Tx by pushing the other one through?

It sounds like it might be possible.  But it would not be worth it.  It will be easy to detect double spend after.

And eventually chances are you will be caught, or the site will change requiring confirmation if abuse is bad enough.  Also it's not worth getting a scammer tag which will follow you and ruin a account.
You could create alternate accounts and use VPNs to hide your identity. That's what happened with primedice (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=208986.msg7208301#msg7208301) and (http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1qqmr4/ghashiocexio_and_doublespending_against_betcoin/). It is fairly easy to abuse if you think about it. Even if onchain gambling site include your outputs in the payout transaction, it can still be manipulated.

Yeah but it can't go on forever, you might get away with it once or twice but then site owners will notice it when they see that all the losing bets are getting dropped and winning once are getting through.

And when that happens they will either make rule of no '0' fee bets or will not allow bets until they have at-least reached 1 confirmation.
1867  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [DaDice] Signature Campaign Discussion Thread | Join The Fun! on: April 09, 2015, 03:18:56 PM

Well, I don't really think that part is true. You are probably looking at the current post of a winner of a bonus of some other week.
We will check the boards only in certain cases. You can clearly see that Quickseller does not post (at least not many) in Gambling section.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18640
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=138744;sa=showPosts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=210100;sa=showPosts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=153149;sa=showPosts

(P.S. Read the thread too if you like)

Yes, may be certain members got bonus because when everything is summed up, we found many users who qualified the bonus. In the absense of any other criterion, we selected it.
We don't think excellent English and grammar should only be considered as quality posts, though that is very recommended.

If you find any bonus awardees as not fit for it, please review the posts made in the week it was awarded for and shoot me a PM. I will check into it asap.

Thanks Smiley

Since this thread is about discussion, if you got something in your mind and/or unsatisfied with the counting result or the bonus result, you should provide data why do you think it is innapropriate

As for the bonus receiver, excluding myself, they are all a great quality poster but due note that the decision to reward the bonus is from bf4btc and ndnhc, they got their own opinion and you should hit ndnhc/ bf4btc with an example of post why someone from last week isnt eligilbe for the quality poster bonus

As I already mentioned, I wasn't talking about Quickseller. His posts are absolutely unique and I think it is because he has a vast knowledge on a lot of subjects.

I was simply presenting my opinion that I feel there were other posters who were equally good if not more entitled. It's only my personal opinion, maybe I am right or wrong but if there are same winners in a contest every week repeatdly, it gives impression in others mind that maybe they are the pre-determined and it's not worth making an effort because in the end result will be the same.

For ex. If a company has 40-50 employees and out of that there are only 4-5 people who are graded better than others every week and are chosen as the employee of the week repeatdly, than others will start to think that maybe it's fixed. Even if that were not the case.

I don't think it's wise or necessary to point fingers at anybody but I just had some doubts about a matter and I expressed my opinion on it. My intention was not to offend anybody. If I did, I apologize. But as a member of this campaign I think I have the right to say what I feel about a subject.
1868  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [DaDice] Signature Campaign Discussion Thread | Join The Fun! on: April 09, 2015, 11:42:06 AM
Do grades = bonus or # of posts or both?

We consider post quality first. That will elimiate a few, and get some 10-15 good quality posters. Then we consider, the rating, stricter evaluation, etc. and finally consistency, post count and even boards posted (less relevant though, if we still can't come to a final 3 or 4) to finally decide on it. We consider all criterion possible to get the final three (or 4 as the case may be).

If you check some of the posts, you will find that the evaluation and elimination for bonus is a pretty difficult thing to do, with so many good high quality posters in our campaign. The choice is diffcult, so we consider all possible things. Wink

Thanks Cheesy
ndnhc

Well Quickseller's posts were exceptionally great, I don't think anyone can achieve his quality of posts.

But as far as other winners are concerned, no offense but some of the winner's (not taking names) post quality wasn't that great but I think they were awarded because they made huge numbers of posts and their maximum number of posts were in the relevant* section.

It's up to you guys to decide who gets the bonus but as a part of this campaign I expect more fairness to the other members of the campaign, who might have not made too many posts and there posts might have not been in a certain section of the forum but they were by far of better quality than those who were awarded.

I know it's a harsh thing to say but I am just saying it as I see it. And I think many others will agree with me but they might not come out and say it.
1869  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unwanted transaction sent in Electrum on: April 09, 2015, 10:08:02 AM
A hacker somehow got inside your PC and got hold of your keys/wallet and send your funds to himself, through either a virus/malware. Do a clean install of OS you're using and next time just avoid keeping your funds in a computer that stays on-line.

Read about cold storage https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage to learn about how to keep your funds more secure.

Are there places that hire manpower? Like writing or something? I've seen writers for hire
but they don't seem to get hired much Sad

I'm a good writer, that's probably my biggest bet since I'm no good at programming Sad

Check out the Service section of the forum : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0
This is where you would see if someone is looking for writers.

And see this site: https://www.xbtfreelancer.com/ I think I saw a few writer jobs on it cpl of weeks back. Try this one too : https://coinality.com/

There are also subreddits, www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinJobs/ & www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinJobs/ where you might find some writing jobs.

Also make a thread in service section and I am sure someone would hire you, do provide your previous work examples for references.

A word of advice, if you don't find a user trustable, do ask for escrow before doing any work. GL
1871  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Making a rotator on: April 09, 2015, 08:43:13 AM
So I have been in bitcoin a very short time maybe 6 month's. I invested in some good mining gear, old but still working couple of ant s1 and one ant s3, but recently been hitting faucets pretty hard a hour or two day just playing looking learning about advertises and referrals and such, but was looking into creating a faucet rotator.

Is it really worth the time and effort to create one of these or go with a service that does it for you? are the services really real has any one ever used them? like this one?

http://rotator.doublebitcoins.com/

I mean if you maintain it and get a user base how much can you really make off referrals in general?

Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I have used faucet rotators in the past when I had no way to make any Satohshis and they are quite useful as they save a user's time by auto presenting the next faucet in line and one can just keep entering his address and typing captchas and make a few 1000s satoshis.

So yes, they can be useful and many users still use them and as far as making a profit, that depends on how many users use your rotator day after day and if you have a good traffic you can make a small amount of income, not only from referrals but advertisements as well.

If you're really interested in making one, I can suggest you few good ways of making them easily, let me know if you need any help.
1872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is strategy on: April 09, 2015, 07:08:00 AM
but why setup $10 a day buy. buy it at once and forget it until next block halve?

This way he can buy it at all sorts of prices incase he buys $x,xxx & then the price does nothing but go down for the next year - minimizes his losses (And gains)

That and also maybe he can only afford to take out $10 from his earnings everyday safely and by current price, he'd be able to get 1 BTC in about 25 days. So not a bad plan at all.
1873  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Securest method of Bitcoin storage on: April 09, 2015, 07:03:26 AM
Make 2 wallets, A hot wallet and a cold wallet. Keep a little amount of coins in Hot wallet say less than 1 BTC to pay for small withdrawals instantly but keep the majority of the funds safe in a cold storage wallet and you can do manual withdrawals.

This way even if a hacker hacks his way into the site he won't be able to access the cold storage funds. GL
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: I want to sell 700.000.000 10k coin only 2btc on: April 09, 2015, 06:51:47 AM
Can you link the bittrex page where it is listed?

And you say you have :
Update my balance now 700.000.000  Shocked

you only pay 2btc  Grin PM me if you interested

If that's true and it's value is 1 satoshi, that would total to 7 BTC, why are you looking to sell it here for only 2?

Is it because there are no buyers for it on any exchange? Which would mean it is useless.
1875  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [DaDice] Signature Campaign Discussion Thread | Join The Fun! on: April 08, 2015, 03:19:21 PM
Well I can't spam the shit out of a single board to have a chance at getting a Bonus. I post when and if I feel there is a need on a thread and that my comment or opinion would add something to the discussion or help someone or if there is something that I don't understand then I ask a question to clear my doubts.

Otherwise I refrain from posting anything. And I don't choose boards, if I see a thread anywhere in the forum, which I have something to add to, I do. If that doesn't gets me a bonus or lowers my grade then be it.
1876  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [DaDice] Signature Campaign Discussion Thread | Join The Fun! on: April 08, 2015, 02:48:36 PM
Do grades = bonus or # of posts or both?

I have no idea, I am guessing the number of posts is the real factor here and also most of the posts the gentlemen I mentioned above made were in Gambling section, so that might be it.

If the site owners want top 3 because they want a few amazing posters and their quality might drop if the bonus was moved to top 6, 0.05 etc, then thats something to consider sure.

But 0.05 is not really a Winning prize is it?
It's more like a pity bonus.

Its just a smallish point, overall i am happy, thanks.

Actually, I am not too happy about my grade. I think I deserve a B+
1877  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [DaDice] Signature Campaign Discussion Thread | Join The Fun! on: April 08, 2015, 09:05:53 AM
I think it's fair. I was just seeing some of the posts made by bonus winners (panju07 & fox19891989) and they're all so constructive.

I don't think I can compete with that. I got C+ and I think that's too generous of them.  Smiley
