1881  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: August 08, 2014, 10:50:04 AM
Question:
1. power connection interface, 6PIN PCI-E like R4-BOX or DC like Microsoft XBOX ?
2.do you want NEW RBOX packaged as RBOX, white cage, shrink plastic?
3. what's price do you prefer?

1. Go for 6PIN PCI-E connection. People have PSUs around and it's easier to get a discount/rebate for a regular PSU than to pay full price for a DC adapter.
1882  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is $500 the new $50 of 2013 on: August 08, 2014, 09:57:53 AM
Bitcoin touched 50 for all of three days in its entire price history.  This could be more like 13 or 100.

I see it as the new 100 too, or actually as the new 120 because I think we had more stability there.

Current Hardware
..................
All but the KNC Neptune (original unit), the USB sticks, AM Blades and first 2 Bitfury cards were bought with earned BTC. I've had an overall positive ROI for many, many months. I did sell an early BFL Little Single for a huge profit that I reinvested in BTC.

You are one dedicated miner. Hats off!

All the topics about them went silent recently.

What do you expect without a product?
1886  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is up with the hashrate? on: August 07, 2014, 06:26:46 AM
Take a look at https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate?timespan=30days&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

Why is the recent hash rate so crazy?  Who is adding tons of hardware and then removing it???

Even the guy who writes the software that almost all mining equipment in existence uses and depends on hardly ever gets free hardware, even though he returns the favour with ongoing driver support, though he did get an SP10 which he was grateful for.
All of us imho appreciate your time and effort even if we don't say it enough...

This. Even if appreciations don't feed you we all appreciate your work ckolivas!
1888  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: So what kind of hardware are you currently running ? on: August 07, 2014, 04:13:06 AM
I was concerned about them because of how "tight" they look like they might no get great air flow, why I never seriously looked at them.

Since you are referring to the SP10 miners you should know that their "tightness" creates a negative pressure inside the case which helps with better airflow and lower temperatures than in a normal unpressurized case. The SP10 are the most robust miners and everything around them is build for being datacenter ready/server grade quality.

Jupiter, SP10, SP30.
How are he SP's treating you ? Haven't heard much on them as of late other than people talking about maybe buying some.

They are treating me very nice. Not a single reboot needed since I have them and they do just fine in warmer climates too. After the Jupiters who already gave me a BTC ROI the SP miners are the best choice that I made regarding mining.

Jupiter, SP10, SP30.

@Roadstress

Is your sp30 at ThorDC online yet?

If not, just spam them until you get your setup fee removed and your miner online.

Give it time to settle.
1892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP30 Setup [HD] on: August 06, 2014, 05:30:35 PM
I was planning on using two separate outlets on different breakers thats not a problem running the numbers honestly running an SP30 at 4.1 TH at 2600WATT actually

running the numbers provides a better hash/Watt number than 4.5 TH at 2900WATT, not sure what all the big deal with maxizing the hash ratio to all ends is.  Hash/Watt

is what matters in the end.

You are wrong here. For the moment you are better running it at full speed and at max unit's W/GH/s. I plan to switch it to 4Th/s at 2.3kW at ~70 bil diff.
1893  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SP30 Yukon Bitcoin: output in pools on: August 06, 2014, 11:24:30 AM
There are pros and cons for both miners.

Antminers ship faster but use more power and you need to add PSU costs, and you will likely have a mess of cables.

Sp30s use less power and take up less space, no additional PSUs required, but they ship later (as they are sold out for this month) and are more noisy.
This makes the sp30 cheap to host for example at jtoomim´s facility for 90-70$/kW/m.

Also you can underclock the SP30 to run just at 4Th/s and consuming just 2300W.
1894  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SP30 Yukon Bitcoin: output in pools on: August 06, 2014, 07:28:24 AM
I am planning to buy the upcoming sp30 yukon, batch 2.

http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp30-yukon-september-batch-2

What would be the payout in bitcoins per day in pools like p2pool, bitminter, or slush?

Nobody can give you a straight answer for that. Pool payouts depend on the pool's luck. Also the difficulty is important when it comes to bitcoin payouts and since we can't predict the September difficulty we can't give you an answer for that.

For example now at 18 bil diff you could be making 0.12BTC/day. At 30 bil diff you could make 0.075BTC/day.
1895  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has Anyone Been Successful Mining BitCoins? If So, What Have You Done? on: August 06, 2014, 07:17:35 AM
@RoadStress

I had been considering investing in the SP30 4.5 TH/s Miner. Interesting that you have an affiliate link to the same site I'd observed earlier. I was a bit discouraged by the fact that there was no one I could speak to over the phone about specific questions I had regarding this device. I have questions about how to properly setup the device, how powerful of a computer I will need, what mining software to download etc. I'm aware that the device comes out in September and I just wanted to be ready by then. I hope the device isn't useless by then. I have plenty of homework to do. I'm kind of nervous because this will be my first bitcoin investment.

Bought an SP10 miner, plugged in PSU and LAN cable and I started mining bitcoins.

well thats nice - i dont understand how you can keep it so quiet - id be singing from the rooftops if i was one of the only 3-4 ppl in the world with an sp30 in hand!!

I will sing today once my unit is online.

he didn't pay 13k$ for one unit. Part of them were from my GB and the other part is September Batch so all are under 6k$.

Good Luck with delivery today Roadstress!!

Thank you. Unit was delivered yesterday actually, but I will have it online today.

August sales were open for some time when I organized the GB. My bet is after 15 August. But don't worry. Difficulty will jump only ~5% so we are good  Cool
