"新闻联播又报道啊"
新聞聯播從前曾報道過bitcoin嗎?

It could be difficult for Westeners to understand the uniqueness of Xinwen Lianbo. It looks like an "Evening News" on CNN or BBC, but actually there is no comparable programme in Western Countries. As wikipedia puts it: This program is used as a medium for the state to announce government announcements and meetings, commentaries on major economic and policy issues, and the activities of national leaders. The program reflects official positions of the Chinese government on a wide range of matters. Some accuse the program as serving more as a means for the state to divulge its political agenda rather than to examine the day's important news events. Please note the bolded part. It is very true. The main objective of Xinwen Lianbo is to divulge or propagate political agenda. It seems that not many of you feel excited. Actually, I see this as a bigger news than Baidu Jiasule accepting bitcoin. Be prepared for a Chinese-led party soon

(other CCTV reports were of more interest than this one).
No. Xinwen Lianbo is VERY unique. It is not yet another CCTV programme. Read my analysis and probably the wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinwen_Lianbo

It was just about the Canadian Bitcoin ATM (the article had appeared a while back in the western press).
It seems you don't get my point. The Bitcoin ATM itself is not the BREAKING NEWS. The BREAKING NEWS here is Bitcoin ATM on Xinwen Lianbo (Please read my analysis above)

How valuable Xinwen Lianbo is? This year, the TV commercials around Xinwen Lianbo costs totally 5.4 billion CNY (887.4M USD). It equivalents to 14.79M CNY (2.43M USD) per day. So the Bitcoin ATM (and Bitcoin) has just enjoyed a free advertisement of >1M USD.
|
|
|
You should also note that there is only 30 minutes for Xinwen Lianbo per day, and only less than 1/4 of the time is for "International news" like this. The other international news today was "U.S. surveillance scandal continues to ferment"

Bitcoin ATM is not a news for us. The biggest thing is it appears on the Xinwen Lianbo of CCTV on 28 October. This makes the last item of the Xinwen Lianbo today. In case you don't know what it is, Xinwen Lianbo, literally "News Simulcast", is a daily news programme produced by China Central Television (CCTV). It is shown simultaneously by most terrestrial television channels in mainland China, making it one of the world's most-watched programmes. A more important point is that Xinwen Lianbo is the MOST important political propaganda of CCTV. Any news appearing on it has to be seriously censored. The appearance of Bitcoin on Xinwen Lianbo is a really strong signal that the Chinese government, aka. the Chinese Communist Party, does not hate Bitcoin. The link is here: http://video.sina.com.cn/p/news/v/2013-10-28/193663075917.htmlThis is the transcript: According to Canadian media, the world's first Bitcoin ATM will be launched in Canada this week. Is it possible to build a "no dependency" client? Just integrate all (and only) necessary external codes, e.g. SSL, so people can build it without depending on any package.
You could use sipa's secp256 library instead of OpenSSL, that makes the blockchain handling code less dependent of third parties: https://github.com/sipa/secp256k1 (as a bonus, it's faster too!) Note: this is at your own risk, the library is far from as well-tested as OpenSSL is. Handling cryptography is very fickle and a decision to switch the main client over is not taken lightly. We agree that modularization is a goal, my question is if we should we tackle it with highest priority.
That's up to you! Everyone in the core team has their own priorities, and they may or may not overlap with yours (though we all agree that modularization is a good thing, but it's just not our pet project). You're welcome to join and patches are welcome! Can we just embed the relevant part of OpenSSL to the code, so we don't need to worry about compatibility?

I compiled it myself on the new cubieboard3 and is running now (I'm using BDB5.1 as I don't know how to do it with 4.8. I'm not using the wallet, anyway)
That's really the point of my .debs - compiling DB 4.8 is a bit of a pain but I wanted binary compatibility. It does work rather well though, doesn't it. Yes, running for 10 hours and now at block 216931

I like this idea. I use Armory only. It is way more secure than the reference client. A fully modularized system is easier to audit, maintain, and expand.

這事件會否引起中國政府注意, 開始規管bitcoin, 甚至宣佈bitcoin非法?

Redaction: Here's something marginally more interesting: weighted average by day of year. This data is uncorrected. Thus, all sorts of anomalies such as the end of data series, switch from Gox to Bitstamp, Gox trading freeze, February 29, etc. are left as-are. Nothing interesting with this. It's just an alternative presentation of the recent bubble

I can't decide where this is going, too little volume.
I shorted around 180 during the downtrend after the huge sell...Then at 180, it perked right back up. I figured it was a short bounce before a continuation downwards, and continued opening short positions up to 190.
Now, I'm not sure if I should close the positions and take a huge loss...or wait it out, and possibly lose all the BTC in my leveraged short positions...
Opinions?
180 in gox? The 300 hours average line is at 181 now and it provides support in all big-4 exchanges. So I don't think we will see 180 in gox again in short term

Is this source reliable? It looks pretty childish and unprofessional to send with multiple 324XBT transaction, just to show they are FBI.
