1901  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Foundation receives cease and desist order from California on: June 24, 2013, 05:43:41 AM
Will the news of this cease and desist order have an impact on BTC price when EU/US wakes up?

1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CNC to be delisted from BTC-e on: June 23, 2013, 06:44:32 AM
great news!

+1

Remove FTC as well, it is as pathetic or worse than CNC.
Shocked

What part of it you don't understand? FTC is copy of LTC, the only thing changed is 4 times more coins than LTC and no fair launch, e.g. instamined:

http://cryptometer.org/feathercoin_96_hour_charts.html

Short-term success of FTC started not yet ended crapcoin and scamcoin drama. It and it's authors deserve to die horrible death.

Misinformation and death threats, that's a new all time low for you isn't it?

Normally I would report it to a mod but you are not even worth wasting their time.

wall of double spaced text.....

So who's new alt account is this? The post reads like a 17 year old.

1904  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: June 22, 2013, 11:21:43 PM

BLF outsourced their chip design to who knows who and ran into problems. Because you simply can't simulate a working ASIC design on an FPGA and copy it directly into a chip. You have to know the little tricks of the trade of turning an FPGA design simulation into a functioning ASIC. If anyone should know how to do this, it would be a long-standing design-house like Orsoc.

It's not really surprising that BFL ran into problems, problems that it seems Avalon narrowly avoided and fore-saw, but it would be surprising if Orsoc runs into this problem, considering that they've been producing ASICs for years and claim that a hashing chip isn't even close to the most complex design they've completed successfully.

I think too many of people's expectations have been colored by the difficulties of BFL and the like. These guys are pros.

Anyway I'll stop here as this is off-topic.
Where did you get your magical insight into BFL's problems? As far as I can tell they have only mentioned that the power consumption was far greater than anticipated, and they have not given out a reason for that yet.

1905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin on Mtgox on: June 22, 2013, 11:11:00 PM
I don't think it will happen soon. Mtgox is in trouble with Bitcoin.

Did you not bother to read the release from Mt Gox that was just posted above?

6) As risky as it is to invoke the name of Litecoin (LTC???), we must apologize for not keeping everyone up to date. The fact is that the current situation means a continued delay, but for good reasons. We’re looking at July right now, though that depends on a few things. Mainly, we want to do things correctly from the beginning.

July sounds pretty soon to me.

This is their first confirmation that they are proceeding with LTC, as a result the price of LTC jumped from $2.25 to $3 pretty quickly.

BFL_Josh - 22 June 2013 - ASIC Update

I haven't updated in awhile because I thought the shipping was self explanatory, but people seem to be clamoring for an update, so here we are.

We have been working our way through the backlog of orders over the past month. Production is slowly ramping up and we are easily able to manufacture 200 units a day currently - there will be no problem hitting 400 units a day once things are in full production. Right now, we are stymied by the inflow of chips. However, the inflow rate of chips is increasing and we expect it to be quite high within the next week or two. It's been a long road to smoothing out these bottlenecks here and there.

Lots of Jalapeno's have been sent out the door, as well as some singles and minirigs. Production on the longoard lines are really going to start to ramp up next week and the following weeks.

We have been refining the firmware for both the short board but mostly for the longboard. One of the primary changes has been to switch from a one job per board method to a one job per chip method. This has fixed a lot of the latency issues we were experiencing with the early firmware and what held up production on some of the 60 GH/s units. We have not yet finished the XLINK portion of the firmware to be operating at 100% yet, so the first few minirigs that are going out the door are shipping as individual USB devices (8 per box) instead of 1 big USB device. Going forward, once the XLINK stuff is finalized, minirigs will be shipped out as XLINK equipped.

We will continue to refine the firmware as we go along. With the current firmware, we are seeing between 260w to 280w per 60 GH/s unit, or 4.3w - 4.6w per GH at the wall on 120v. Actual chip wattage is just under 3w per GH.

In other news, we have released all the documentation necessary for people to begin creating their own boards to house our chips and we have begun selling our chips in bulk. The first deliveries of our chips are expected in roughly 100 days from the time of order. We still expect the current back order backlog to be cleared by the middle of September or so, although given what we can likely achieve with our production rate, I suspect it may be sooner than that. No guarantees on that either way, though.

Easy Miner seems to have a nice interface.
1908  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: June 22, 2013, 10:38:36 AM
K16 is live. All 5 voltage regs appear to be outputting correct voltages. The 32MHz oscillator is outputting 32 Mhz as expected on the scope. I'm about to hook up the laptop and program the PIC. Will report back in a while... but first, dinner.

Kewl, how many ASIC chips you putting on it to test?
1909  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 22, 2013, 01:14:27 AM
I think people should look at it this way, what if their 300BTC was now worth $0.50 would they still want BTC or the USD value they paid?

Kinda put things in perspective eh!
I wouldn't worry too much, the only people in denial of how currency conversion works with online purchases, are either trolls or greedy. Most normal people already know you often have to covert back and forth between currencies when you by online or get a refund.

1910  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Single SC Power Brick on: June 21, 2013, 05:26:10 PM
Also, they've said if you accept the unit without a power supply, they won't be sending power supplies later when they're in stock, and they won't give you a partial refund.

Of course, the cost of buying an external power supply is sort of inconsequential vs. what you'd lose mining having to wait, so its an easy choice to take the unit and buy your own power supply.

Also depending on where you are, the supply could be cost less than the freight of BFL sending it separately. eg. it would cost me $88 for BFL to send just the supply on it's own. My local PC dealer will sell ma a 430watt PSU for less than that.
1911  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 21, 2013, 05:22:52 PM
If you paid for your order with 50 BTC, you should get a refund of 50 BTC. If you paid with $1000 USD, you should get a refund of $1000 USD.

Seems pretty obvious to me?

That is not obvious. The obvious thing is to get a refund based on the price and not what currency you paid with. They were priced in USD, and thus any refund :=USD sum.

Why do people close their eyes when they don't like to see the obvious? How many times do I have to tell you that it doesn't matter what is your price tag. It can be changed every second. What matters is the invoice! THE INVOICE IS THE COMMERCIAL DOCUMENT THAT IS BEEN TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IN A COURT OF LAW! And BFL invoice clearly shows that it is priced BOTH in BTC and USD!

It clearly states that the price is in dollars, but that you can pay with BTC.

Yeah, I don't see how this is a thing. If the sale price was in BTC, you'd have a case. It wasn't, and you don't. They just offered a service to convert your bitcoins for you.

Basically, you sold your bitcoins to pay (in dollars) for the BFL miner. You are totally shit out of luck.

That invoice even shows the conversion rate is valid for a limited time...
He has left important parts out of the invoice shot for trolling purposes. Just add him to your ignore list. I have.
1912  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: June 21, 2013, 12:02:58 PM
danattacker, which jtag port is used? there seem to be two?

JTAG1
Can you post a closeup photo of where the port is on the board?
1913  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 21, 2013, 09:25:14 AM
How many products so far shipped more or less?

I have ordered a Jalapeno last month (half of May)... you will say money throwed in the bin, and maybe you would be right...

regards,
ilpirata79
More than 3 and less than a million I would guess.

1914  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: June 21, 2013, 09:13:45 AM
Cool. Cracking mine from 5 to 7 ghs would be awesome too. Hope we can do that at some point.

Do you realize that most likely the 5GH/s doesn't need to have all the engines in working order in the chips, but the 7GH/s probably does?

He will probably just roll another account and continue on.

When you can essentially be anonymous,  not much motivation to repent?
1916  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Single SC Power Brick on: June 21, 2013, 07:41:18 AM
I have been reading on this forum and BFL's forum and there doesn't really seem to be a definitive answer on whether the singles will come with a brick or require a power supply. Anyone have any actual information on this?

Thanks!

BFL don't have any power bricks in stock, the are waiting on them to arrive. Some people are happy to take the Single without the brick and use their own PSU just so they can start mining. Most people are waiting for the bricks to arrive. BFL are not giving a discount if you want the Single without the brick. I think they should, but it's probably too messy for them at this point.

1917  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Consolidated BFL Board Development Thread on: June 21, 2013, 07:39:15 AM
If each chip does 4ghs. Why does my jalapeno use 2 for 5ghs?

Because some of the chips may not have all their engines working, and are obviously still good enough to make up 5GH/s but might not make 7GH/s.
1918  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Large bitcoin mining farm mining 4 blocks a day having made 1600BTC on: June 21, 2013, 06:23:25 AM
Today it's only one IP: 98.246.202.92, with 4 mined blocks going to the same address 1BxD2VLE95n7ZeVJSy3uoiJ5WdR72jWj5f and that address is holding 2,045.00200351 BTC!
Oregon?
And then 2 from the same address in LA. Interesting. I wonder if they are purposefully blocking blockchain.info from connecting to them so that their location is obscured.

Did you send them 0.0101 BTC today?

1919  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 21, 2013, 04:17:47 AM
the problem with asics is that we don't have options (or power), asicminer, avalon and bfl have all the power...asicminer is selling overpriced miners, avalon is "testing" or "burning in" the asics and bfl is drunk with power.
and there is nothing we can do about it...other than wait for more companies (bitfury, kncminer) to get in the game

Sounds pretty normal for most new industries. I recall paying $1,800+ for my first DVD player from Sony, and over $8,800 for my first mobile analog phone.

1920  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: June 21, 2013, 03:27:53 AM
What are the options/alternatives for the k16 heatsinks?
There are many options covered in this thread, I suggest you look at some rather than having people repeat them over and over.

Type the word heatsink into the search and you should get 6 pages of hits.

People shouldn't need to search through multiple pages of mostly irrelevant information to find 1 comment which makes a passing mention of the info you're looking for.

Any kit that is currently ready should be linked to in the initial post.

There are no kits in this thread, it's a design discussion thread. Go look at one of the board buy threads, there are many, like Burnin's or Terrahash threads.
