Got the fans in and working on getting them installed in the next few days.  Each one is 1500 CFM uses 285 watts at max
so I will put them all on a 20 amp breaker.  FOund a local handy man with roofing experince to help  he seems to know his stuff
we got half of them done today.  Will finish the reset tomorw.

He was right in saying just having the vents installed would help alot with the heat build up withoute even powering them up yet.
Its insane we went from 106 degrees in the garage to 93 with just the first three vents installed, we dont even have the power hooked up yet!!

all six , they are actually quite light

The gravity intake vents were too big for my roof, 26 inches , so I am returning those

gravity vent, its still in box so not great pictures

too big

underside of the gravity intake vent , no fan ?

Install time

working on first side

view from inside , how we managed to hit every single rafter I have no idea, I hope it does not affect the air flow too much but with
six fans I think we are ok.

These fans have humidistat and temp control, we are going to run the controlls for every fan down to where the switches for powering on and off each fan are so it is easier to access

pics of my small farm

TOP view

I'll update with more pics tomrow with the remaiing three vents on , we probbaly wont get to the electrical work till tuesday.

He is charging me $700 for all the work does that sound about right ?

I bought parts for electrical, breaker, conduit , 12-2 gauge wire and switches , replacement roofing slats and water proof paper and glue etc

cost $250.

I am also going to make in put screws down on all the vents not just glue like he wanted to do what do you think Phill ?

Folks, if you would invest 20K USD in GPUs, what would you buy?

I prefer NVIDIA cards.

Some people say 1060 3gb is best ROI, some say 1070 and someone 1080ti ...
If we consider of long time investment and better quallity of work, what would you buy?
NVidia GTX 1070 are the best choice, with the best ratio ROI.
If you want extra pleasure with hardware, you can buy also some GTX 1080 : the ROI is not so good than GTX 1070, but you have the possibility to play with a SLI, after mining is over, even in 2 or 3 years.

1070 at $430 for a good one vs 8GB AMD 580 for $300 ?

I would go the 580 route, save 100 per card so you get a free one every three you order compared to the 1070, plus 580s can be tuned to use lower power and are great for dual mining DCR

i.e eth 29 or ETC 29mhs and DCR like 900 for 150 watts will beat out a 1070 for ROI
All GTX 1070 are good and the mid price is not $430 but $350.
And the forumeur wrote "I prefer nVidia cards"... and he's right : AMD sucks and need a lot of electricity power/cooling.

350 for a 1070 are u off your rocker ? not for a NEW one maybe USED !  and Not all are good , the cheap single slot ITX ones run hotter and slower
thank the EVGA, gigabyte or even ASUS dual or tripple fan models.

Yes I concur alot of bad info here , lol 20k and they want you to buy 1080TIs ?

would you rather have six rigs or four ? , 1080TI were a good buy when they were $600 for $750 I'll pass an load up on cheaper models that will make you MORE money

Actually not hard to get gtx 1070 at the price $350 - $390 on amazon.com... not always, but if you closely monitor all the brands and models, there are always offers almost every day...
what i am wondering is that where would people get 8GB AMD 580 for $300 nowadays?

And also, i don;t think 1070 has better ROI than gtx 1060 3GB - you can get 1060 at $200 and mine zcash a 300 sol with 70w power consumption

I only buy my gpu from new egg, amazon i always pay taxes so its not worth it for me
the 580 8gb are quite common , actually they are going lower

Can you advise what $/day for Bitcoin cash is now, please ?

It looks like Antminer S9 (the latest 14THs version w/ $0.12/kWh electricity costs) will give you something about $17-19/d.

Has been few days allready...

yup S9s are quite good if you can keep them from dying lol, best thing. to do is order more than u need keep some in
reseve for the inevetiw faliures , i think they  have a 30 percent failuer rate from the older batches, maybe new ones. are better tho, Thats why i ordered six, only needed 4 but two spares
1925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cloudmining Profit Calculation result in loss, always. Am i doing it wrong? on: October 01, 2017, 05:32:20 PM
Cloudmining is almost always a scam. Why would a company give out hashpower if it were for it to be profitable for use on their own? It doesn't make all that much sense.

yup Only time cloud mining was profitable was a few years ago with the hashlets and ltc gear ponzi scams
some made money but most ppl lost boatloads

The parell miner psus are louuuud , maybe the bitmain ones are better sound wise becuase your seccond biggest issue is gona be noise from 14 miners I cant even imagine those in a house thats not a basement install.

I have same issue with my detached garage ppl walk by and they comment on the noise from the power supplies

I wish i had the money to use regular Atx psus due to the sound level of the fans on ther server psus

Why don't you try windows server 2012?
Its more stable and you can create watchdog services and you will keep your rig always working.
Win 7 and win 10 crashes for me.

never thought about this, thats a good idea

@citronick jesus 168 units? each pulling 1100 watts ? and you already have 108 S9s that is a huge farm comparative to most.  I hear good thing about the A7 but its hard to pass up the efficiency of the s9 at close to 14TH for 1400 watts, I just hope these ones are not duds.

Yeah I hear you on the go big or go home but , I'm working with a much smaller bank roll and I like the ability to have direct access to my gear in the house and the garage for now at least.  I only have access to around 130k or so watts of power so I have to go with more efficent gear
GPU's and the 14NM asics.

If some of my stashed coins strike big I will look into hosting a large amount of asics but for more I'll just Marvell Smiley Smiley at you big time miners /respect

All the ASICs are eating watts at Cryptoboreas, Labrador-NFL-Canada - cheap hydropower.
My group pre-pay 3months in advance for our hosting+power bill - that gets us maximum VIP discounts.
We dont buy PSUs - rather we rent them from hosting provider - this way, they take care of all wear and tear, replacements etc.
I own only 30% of the farm, the rest are split between 3 more investors -- all retirees using their retirement funds LOL.
The wives werent to happy about this idea 2 years ago.... but now whole different story, we have ROIed and expanded on the proceeds.
2016-2017 was a good year for mining. We were lucky to have cheap Canadian hydro power and that was a major CSF in the mining investment.
I will bank on the A741s any day - they run very consistently and easy to manage.
I rather have stable environment with lower hash vs higher hash but needs babysitting all the time (this formula applies to GPU farms too).
Asics need to be install and forget as much as possible. A good night sleep is better than worrying all the time and excessive monitoring round the clock.
I have VPN and TV access to the farms at Cryptoboreas and GND (small farm of 35 x A741s).
I have access to the switched PDUs too for power cycles - so I can do my own thing in addition to onsite engineers.
My group's farm is by no means huuuge - but its not small either - there are bigger farms like what "blockmines" have which is x5 bigger.

I see, that cool that you can rent PSU's as well, saves alot of hassle and upfront cost

If i was sat in the UK, which I am. With £20,000 burning my pocket. Id set bitmain.com as my homepage.

That much cash? Gotta go ASIC

yeah ASICs are better right now anways but you need 240V for sure and lots of power

Speak of the Devil just got in six new Rx 570 saphire nitros 8GB paid 275 for them

the mine eth at 31mhs DCR at 850 and only consume 130 watts

lol and you want him to grab a $400 or 700 card when he can load up on these ? smh

Even with best power limit mining ZEC my 1070s still use up 110watts.  Yeah they have better temps vrms seem cooler but power is power.

In a week these RX cards will probably be back to $249 for 8GB versions , best believe i will be buying a ton.

Question about the trezor.  How exactly does that thing work?  Like it doesn't download the entire blockchain does it?  Does it rely on some kind to web services from trezor or do I have to run the trezor wallet on my machine and that downloads the blockchain?

The device talk to Trezor servers so there is no downloading of blockchain.

The backup server is "https://blockexplorer.com"

So basically all you need is the Internet.

Trezor hardware device keeps the private keys intact.

Interesting password mechanism that requires you to follow the dynamic numeric schema on the device.

Any send transactions and signing needs physical double-confirmation on the device.

I guess all of the above makes it very secure and foolproof.

Its better for day to day wallet use, IMHO vs the Nano.

Thanks for the explanation.  I was just wondering what would happen if one of those two services were to go down.  Would there be a manual way to still get to your coins or are you screwed?

I think there is up to 4 servers at Trezor and there is also the public one at blockexplorer.com - both sites down - then yes, you are screwed.
So far I have not  got any downtime issues - I think the Trezor servers are geographically located to have 24x7x365 access.
Trezor is not #1 hardware wallet for nothing - I guess.

@Marvell2 - If you are serious about mining farms - you got to have a sizable fund for it. My group just got 168 x A741s from Canaan waiting to to be powered up - this is not a big order but not small too, so we got to work directly with their order processing team. It will be good to have referral to help speed things up. In my case, Kano help me link up with Canaan CEO. This new batch will bring our A7s total to 323 units at Cryptoboreas hosting, in addition to the 108 x S9s. A7s are rock solid - very little babysitting compared to S9s, expect up to 15% failure rate - we got things working eventually after Bitmain parts replacement / RMA but the turn around time was very long - up to 2 months.

Antminer s9 is for sale right now I ordered six

I think BTC will have multiple forks to mine next year and the price will hit around 6k

I think $7000 or more by Christmas is very likely.

Bitcoin futures trading and ETFs coming by year end - so more institutional money coming in from stock market.

No surprise JPM's CEO claiming Bitcoin is a fraud, bubble etc... because a lot of their investors taking money out from stocks to Bitcoin (and crypto currencies).

wow you are more bullish, lol I though I was being overly optimistic, you really seem to have your ear to the ground .

Thats why I want to diversify my farm a bit to milk the nicehash spikes when BTC is rising, I calculated if I had kept the two S9 11.5TH I sold last year and sat on nice hash with them I would have quadrupled my investment on them.

I had to sell them because they used too much power compared to GPU's for the money they made back in January.

I also need to diversify my farm like you guys now that I have access to more power, I feel like I am too GPU heavy, even though I have a mix of R9 NANO, 1070s, 1080 TI's and like 100 RXcards with some D3 as well on order.

My group has 50% BTC Asics (S9, A7), 30% non-BTC Asics (L3+, D3, A4) and 20% (GPU rigs) -- this is what we feel is the most optimum and reasonable daily revenue (ie after expenses).

I am doing crypto day trading too and my trading community has a lot of ground information like CBOE including Bitcoin futures trading etc....

Very nice you are quite diversified, prepared for the future , trying to get the same way but its been hell trying to get hardware at reasonable prices, finnally with the China FUD it seems Asics are getting to be available now ,
unfortunately my funds are now limited too from the lower prices of stuff I held and projects I took on earlier in the year when the prices were booming lol

The are back in stock, probably unpaid orders I grabbed 4 at first then another order for 6 lol

Not the unpaid, last batch was 14TH and ship on 1-10 Dec
https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020170926114319067noQch0M206A3

This batch is 13,5TH and ship earlier on 21-30 Nov
https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201709281019141777wvS8I1g068C

I am very interest to buy but with my current customs policy, better buy in the local market although its higher price but its certain than my shipment stuck in customs' gate
Where are you from ?

It's easy to avoid custom in EU.

Never had issues with customs in the USA, they just charge you an extra like $100 per unit billed to you by fedex or DHL
1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX580 Nitro+ Stopped Working...HELP! on: September 28, 2017, 05:52:26 AM
IDK Kuwait. I'd say take them to the store first and than call sapphire.
As long as Sapphire has a official retailer in your country you should get new ones.

Going to the store at 8 A.M tomorrow..
Will demand a replacement GPU and riser.. I'll play dumb and say I don't know about sapphire, etc..

"I bought these from you and now they're not working, you said 3 year warranty"

good luck trying to play dumb its a bad idea since you already know. taking it back to the retail place will be useless, gpus have to be sent back to the manufacturer not the place of which you bought it from, btw most warranties come from the manufacturer. I'm currently RMAing a sapphire tech gpu, more specifically an rx 480 8gb OC, don't send out that gpu out before restoring the original bios, btw when doing RMA you have to pay for the shipping to ship the gpu to there facility and on a side note they do bench them and check bios's

Ive shipped back bricked cards with modded bioses to Saphire and MSI with no issues, but to be safe yeah reflash them if you can, modding the bios is supposed to be covered

under waranty, its phiscal damage that they dont cover

I ordered one  pdu  55 for that is good price.  looks like I can turn it on and off

I'm sure you will like it. Just tested one of the PDUs and it worked fine. Can manage and measure via telnet/ssh/snmp or built-in web server. Has DHCP enabled by default. Needed to reset to factory defaults to regain root access. http://www.baytech.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Reset-Modular-Horizontal.pdf

One other unit I opened randomly had its management board cable unplugged. No idea why.

He cancelled my sell.

Oh well.

I contacted the BayTech these units could solve allot of my fine tuning issues , they linked me up with a local supplier and I'll find out what the price is for new/refurbished units .

He said they also provide Metering for Panels, and individual outlets , could be interesting.
