1501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash site is up... on: December 21, 2017, 02:43:36 PM
is there any statement on whether they will pay back the miners?  Huh
There's simply NO WAY those who lost their money would ever get it back. I'm sorry but just accept it and move on.
Even if they claim they have insurance and so on...

With that said I simply can't recommend NH any longer due to this farce.

Ill mine there AFTER I get my money back and they impement daily payouts like normal pools, not before

I hear this logic , but those big farms will all switch equihash anyways when POS happens , might as well get the cheapest cards.

two 570s can do the work of 1 1070ti for a lower price
$225 per card

never understood why people buy cards that cost near $600

 Efficiency and rig density.
A pair of 570 can match a single 1070 ti on hashrate, but at what cost in power usage? 50% worse? 30% worse?
To match the efficiency of my 1070 ti rigs, they would have to manage 230 sol/s at UNDER 55 WATTS power usage - then factor in "more power used per GPU by system overhead" and they're have to get into the 45-50 watt range.
The 230 sol figure is trivial for a RX 470/480/570/580 card - but that 55 watt figure? *ROFLMAOSC*

RX cards CRUSH Nvidia at current pricing for ETH and spinoffs (except possibly the 1060 that they only "beat"), but that's not the case on many other algos - and do keep in mind that ETH *IS* making progress towards the end of Proof of Work.

Also, I'm not seeing 570 cards at $225 - $239 AND UP last time I checked and availability seems to be dropping again while price is starting to rise again - though still pretty close to half the price of a 1070 ti.

It's also why some folks prefer the 1080 ti over the 1070 ti - efficiency there is close and the rig density makes up for the slightly worse hash/$ and hash/watt figures.

I do have to wonder what the Volta Nvidia generation is going to look like - based on the figures out of the Titan V, I'm guessing 5+ efficiency at even PUSHED hashrate figures might happen, with some potential for "the most efficient model" touching 6.

Remember, you saw that prediciton here from me FIRST!

I feel you on all that but at current crytop prices all i care about is how fast a card can pay foritself , and then youre only paying for the power.

Rx 4gb cards have faster roi so im sticking with those for now , eventually ill migrate to volta cards or lower priced 1070s I just can pay $450 per card density be dammned when last year this time i was buying 1070s forc $349

the rx cards are $50 or over priced the nvida 1000 series more like $120 over priced which makes it a no brainer for me.

If the rx cards creep back up to $350 ish ill start buying nvidia cards but before then im more concerned about hash/$
1503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: POLL: Nicehash resuming operations - are you going back? on: December 20, 2017, 09:57:07 PM
I still don’t understand why people are still going to go back to Nicehash even after the hack. It’s not incredibly difficult to mine and tune miners in the first place and you’re paying a whole lot in fees for a little convenience. Also disappointing that there are people out there mining that hardly know what coins they are mining, much less how to even use a miner like Claymore.

people in masses are morons that's why there going back to using nicehash, if you don't know better then you cant do better lol
nicehash needs to just die the fuck out

Nicehash should go offline. Its better for all.
where are they getting the funds to repay us with? they owe me around $590
1504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 20, 2017, 01:47:03 PM

how much a month for that space

2k/mo - I'm paying roughly 2k/mo for residential electric so saving 1k in electric off the bat, 1k overheard for the space essentially just makes sense.

What's your electricity cost per kwh and size of the unit?

0.10/kw 1500ft2 not the greatest in the US but for LA it's the best I can do.

Residential I'm on SoCal Edison which is tiered and tier 3 is 0.32/kw - outrageous.

Just got a text from a friend to rent out 1/2 the space for storage so I'm down to 750ft, so the space is now paying for itself from the electric savings Smiley Told him it'll be month to month so depending on expansion his stuff will have to go as I need room Smiley
thats a very good price and youre right paying residential electric rates for mining is rough, my garage is on buisness rating and has the more miners than i have in my basement yet im paying double for my house electricity
it makes no sense
1505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 20, 2017, 06:26:08 AM
Still expanding all the way. I am flying to my farm with 54 more 1070ti. Probably getting another 50 after setting up. Holding equal value in coins and rigs. With the recent rise in eth I have a surplus of coins waiting to be converted to rigs. Maybe I'll stop expansion 2 months before volta.

However I am not the biggest fan of dagger hashimoto (eth) mining because of potential POS switch and big farms are mining it. Unlikely eth will become more profitable than shitcoins and small cap coins that nvidia does well at. I just buy hold eth instead.  I have enough 1080ti to hash small caps, now getting some equihash optimized cards (1070ti).

For 13 gpu rig, 570 4gb and 1060 3gb has the fastest payback period. I'm not sure if it's possible to run 13x vega yet.

I made a big call today - sold 90% of coins and bought more GPU's.

Right now I'm 'even' cash wise with $20k in equip.

I hear this logic , but those big farms will all switch equihash anyways when POS happens , might as well get the cheapest cards.

Nvidia is a lot less work with half to a third of rigs to manage using 1070ti/1080ti. With ccminer it is very easy to mine small caps too. It's also more efficient, more hash power within the same electricity limit. Only 40KW to use per shoplot I rent, maximising hash per shoplot is best with nvidia.

With limited time to manage it's better for me to optimize for 1 type of cards. If I have Polaris + Vega + Nvidia it's triple the effort to optimize. I sold most my vega cards and will be selling the remainder soon. The few polaris cards I have are going to perma mine ETH for hodling. This way I will focus fully on nvidia and coin switching for them.

However I can understand the appeal of polaris. A large farm with employees or a person with a lot of time will make more money with polaris.

I switched to nvidia more hash per watt more hash per mobo.

Zec will go over 1000 by spring , btc may drop and stay at the 17000 level and bcc will rise.

I am just about capped for the garage at 20 amps. I can do. 25 to 26 amps in the winter .

If heat isn't a huge issue you could always just throw a sub panel in Phil - it's what I had my electrician do, I had him install 3 30A breakers in my garage to run my personal miners, going back I would have done 220 instead of 110 but it worked out so no biggie.

Good news is FINALLY got the keys to the new warehouse so expansion and build out can begin! I believe it's a 300A 220v but I didn't see much, there was no power in there we just did a quick walk through so will be setting up electric and scheduling internet in the morning. Most likely will be mining off wifi since power should be up a few weeks before internet.

1506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: wtf is this xfx 570s and 580s with dual bios preconfigured for mining? on: December 20, 2017, 05:33:05 AM
Waiting for tests from owner's.
But i am think peoples not trust the manufacturer and tweak bios manually. minimum I would check dump

I have my own Bios mod for these cards , but i cant get to the garage to check the bios switch till tomroow, ill have more info then on the bios

with my own rom i do 2135 mem and 1114 core , voltage and mem settings do not seem to take so i overdriven for those.

I have to say these are the easiest cards to mod , one mod works for EVERY card zero exceptions, i have around 10 of them 3 new ones added yesterday before i found this thing about the custom mining rom
I'll test tomrow.

If i could buy these cards in bulk i would because they are the absolute best Polaris cards out there.  They run stupid cool and half the time the fans don't even need to spin even dual mining
30mhs and 1100 DC or 90 lbr all at a wattage of 120 watts , basically comparable to a 1070 wattage wise.

One thing I don't understand is why they have a six pin and an an 8 pin power conector and unlike other cards you HAVE to connect both or the damn things wont work.

Only best buy seems to sell them atm and they are overpriced there $399 LOOOL , anyone have another source for these cards ? I'd really like to standardize on them regardless if the bios thing is BS or not

I think they could easily do 2200 mem but i like to have 1 rom for every brand of card and not have to fine tune each freaking card, I already have 20 rigs

Hmm, I have not read about that anywhere yet, but it sounds very appealing. No more risk of bricking your card and worrying about invalidating the warranty if it comes bios flashed/tweaked right from the manufacturer.

yeah thats what im thinking ill flip the bios on the gtrs i bought
 and see whats what tomorrow

XFX Dual BIOS Mining

Equipped for gaming and mining

We know enthusiast like options, our RX 570 and 580 graphics cards are shipped with a Dual BIOS. If you want optimal gaming performance just install it and go. For cryptocurrency mining, simply shut the system down and flip the BIOS switch on the card. Our mining BIOS is already tuned to give increased mining hashrates without hassle.

i grabbed a few gtrs this week alrrady flashed them but this sounds interesting to me anyone try those bioses?
or even know what cards have this?

I just realized I have no clue what brand of Nvidia cards are good for mining. Could you recommend some? ^^
Which brand got the best fans? Lifespan of these cards is crucial Cheesy

Avoid Gigabyte cards with sleeve bearing fans. I've had to RMA 5 of the cards below in 5 months of mining because the fan either stopped completely or started going haywire e.g. stopping and starting, erratically changing speed etc. They are in a low dust, ~20 degrees C ambient environment and mostly ran <60% fan speed.

There are some tuts around on how to replace the bearings but there's no point on cards still under warranty. I think I'll sell mine on and migrate to a model with more durable fans so keen to hear recommendations too!

yeah i have six gigabyte cards sitting around that need to be rmaed right now

I have a home-grown set-up with density requirements. $20k worth of 570's would simply not fit in the space I have allocated. My first 7 cards were all 1080ti.

Oh you have space requirements too, 1080Ti is probbaly your best best then ? the 1070ti are only 10% better than the 1070s

I think it comes down to Nvidia being more user friendly and less time consuming to tweak.  Some people enjoy BIOS modding and optimizing power with AMD and some people just don't want to be bothered or don't have the time.
gotcha, there are nice tools for that though , but I give you that nvidia rigs are basically setup and forget
with amd though if u buy the right cards , saphire nitros and the high end xfx ones they are a breeze to mod and undervolt

Hello, I would like to share with everyone my guide for mining Ethereum/Monero and GPU BIOS modding, https://mining.help/

It features:
   AMD and Nvidia Ethereum optimization
   AMD Electroneum/Monero optimization
Modding your bios in 1 click

It will drastically reduce your power draw, you will get maximum stable hashrate and reduce the risk of your GPU being damaged to almost zero.

If it helps you please send a donation to my ethereum wallet: 0xC3935595660f16A6549EFd3263673C6a2fb25327

I think you have the wrong download link to the nofee claymore version as well

This is the best guide for AMD mining on the net great job

I think you are right about the claymore thing as well, the constant stopping and starting and reloading of the DAG needs to end

he needs to charge a flat fee and stop that BS

I got the email for the address conformation so now I wait for the bill. Can you guys tell me which pools are you using? Somebody mentioned that there is problem with zpool. I have never used it but I know it pays directly in BTC. Anybody to give some info? Or some info for suprnova.cc or theblocksfactory.com?

I got the email confirmation as well just now

depends on your power cost and if you can get cards for $300 to $400
sub .11 cent or .12 cent power and if you have a good space to set up rigs
