Man i should not have ordered PSU's one of my A3 is coming today and the other one is still stuck in hong kong waiting for god knows what

/sigh

I gotta get in on the sweepstakes like everyon else before diff goes insane.

btw shouldn't gpu miners be exiting now ?  I stopped dual mining last week, mining pascal now on a few boxes , sia is bascially mining at a loss with claymore fee
1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Investing in SIAcoin? What YOU NEED to KNOW + Antminer A3 / Obelisk Tech SC1 on: January 24, 2018, 09:26:31 AM
Obelisk has done nothing but talk
while they were talking (and taking money for their talk), Bitmain and Balkai put OUT miners

- They screwed buyers with BTC price, the YEAR lockup will cost SO much in BTC price rise, so ROI of your actual $ back = like 3 years, and they havent been RELEASED yet :/
- By the time they drop one, it will be HIGHLY inefficient, and their excuse is:  well "were gonna promise a 2-10x better one within 6 monthish after..."    -_-  thats reassuring
- Butterfly labs all over, by time its delivered, it will be ded.
- those who buy in HAND now direct have a chance, but thats it, havent people seen this over and over each new FPGA/ASIC? :/

oh well, i don't do preorders so i never threw my money away im happy for

Well said , thats what I bee trying to tell people, youre giving $$ to a vaporware company that did not even have a freaking prototype then get mad
when they get beaten to the punch by true professionals ?

I hope this will be the last fucking 6 month + preorder we even see on these boards when all these idiots lose thier shirts.

I cant even take pity on them because we have seem this damn movie before like 10 times so far
You saw this happening 10 times, and you hope it doesn't happen again? You should know better Smiley
I did order a couple of miners from them, and I'm hoping for the best, one of my units is Decred miner, still no competitor, will come for sure. I have diversified mining equipment and risked a small fraction though. Unfortunately some put everything they got in this basket Sad
Alt least you diversified , which means you know what you are doing. Its the newbies who put all thier $$ into this vaporware miner  despite warnings I am referring to.

Hey Vosk, I hang in your discord-- good stuff. I haven't had a chance to watch the video yet but will post again on here after I watch it. I did watch your live stream this morning end enjoyed that.

Do you still think that the value of SC will go up?-- this happened with the D3 miners. Within weeks of the D3 release, DASH went up. Perhaps this isn't the place for projections and I understand that, though I am curious what your thoughts are on the subject.

The other thought I had is if it's worth even keeping around and rather re-selling. I know I know, that's not any fun, and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one on eBay, etc. But you know how quickly the D3 became a museum piece (arguably).

Overall I am very impressed (questionably) with Bitmain and how quickly they shipped these out after their announcement.
that's cool to hear Cheesy good to see you man and thanks for watching the livestream hopefully it was semi decent lol xD

its all speculation of course but with millions of dollars being thrown at bitmain hardware it would only make sense for siacoin to rise.

I agree the safer bet is definitely to sell and agreed all within one week. .  .obelisk is over here going on a year for their release kind of wild

I don't think they can fork.  It would be a pretty petty move and a huge trust issue going forward.  So they brick the A3s, then what about the Halongs?  They get Bricked?  Its one thing if they had a patent on their coin, but the coin is open source..... ughhh....

The answer is yes because right now Sia Asic is non-existent at the moment,  Sia needs to use whatever they can in there power to launch an asic and be competitive enough to compete.  They spent lots of money on research with our members money and your damn right I expect to see results of them launching an obelisk.

If Sia doesn't launch a successful Obelisk they will quickly lose my trust.  The fork needs to happen.
lol good luck with that, oblilisk was a gamble , any fool that preorders a machine with a one year lead time

deserves to be separated from his $$ lol.

Ever heard the saying ‘a fool and his money are soon parted’

I see alot of buthurt fools crying for a fork 😂😂

You think the miners that ordered an obelisk SC1 preordered just to make money? Any potential profit was only icing for the cake.  The whole point of supporting was to support the Sia devs and their asic development in the USA,  even if we happen to lose money from the deal thats fine we can deal with it.

I'll support Sia Devs any day over Butmain.  At the end of the day we true decentralized miners are proud that we are not money grubber centralized bitmain buttlickers.

Even the government had to stop Tmobile from Merging with At&T to prevent too much centralization and no competition.  This is the same thing going on with Sia and Bitmain.

You A3 owners are lucky this time.  Buttmain didn't mine the hell out of A3 for months  before shipping the A3. They finally tossed you the bone to make up for D3 and to send a death threat to the Sia asic devs.  But dont' expect Buttmain to be as generous next time.

enough with the self righteous drivel, Preorders have and always will be a HUGE risk
some here rember black arrow, alpha miners and bfl lol

You all were warned not to order any asic with such a long lead time

smh , you want some cheese with that wine?

The mining game is a risk , win some you lose some , sia coin devs are acting like
spoiled children taking thier toys and goin home.

Not even a prototype in six months and you fools gave them millions smh

People like you is what will burn crypto. Chasing after profits and not supporting the devs and their goals. If you don't agree with them mine a different coin
oh I'm gona mine the hell out of it with my A3 best believe that lol
1285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia Titan Xp Star Wars Editions on: January 24, 2018, 07:17:17 AM
What's your wattage pulling on those guys? Are you running 100%? Someone should runs some tests around 70% power limit and report back for equihash and skein. I've been debating pulling the trigger on a pair of these since they were below $1200 msrp, but tax brings them right back up to $1200/each. I still find myself wanting to seal the deal but need some convincing, that adds quite a lot to the ROI at $4-6/day.

Why on earth would I cripple them with 70% power? I'm at 120% power, +120 core, +500 mem each. I posted a whole slew of benchmarks a few pages back (although those were at +100 core). Depends on the algo, pulling about 280w each right now on Phi. I've seen it as high as 308w

lol i have 50 nvidia cards and I run none of them over 70% TDP

you must not care about power draw

my founders ed draw only 150 watt max

you will find that the hash rate on 10x cards down not vary that much from 70% - 100% tdp

I still get 38 mhs on the star wars with 70% tdp, heck I can run them at 65%

what really raises hashrate for and zcash is memory not the core power

Its interesting. Profit drop down 25l%. Cost of cards raised 50%.

I got confirmation from manufacturer that Nvidia officially increased prices. Now they ask me to pay more for less...

had some newegg giftcards , grabbed tow new saphiire nitro

they are giving away freen 23 inch mointors with them now LOL

ill flip those on craiglist for $100 each

plug some appliance like a hair dryer or hair clipper into each outlet
and turn them on.

now go flip your breakers one by one if they are not labled until one or both appliances turn off

if both turn off on the same breaker you know they are on the same circuit.

also rember household 110 or 120v are not rates for CONTINUOUS draw of 1500 watts,  you should try to split the 1500 watts across two circuits, which should be easy for you anyways using dual power supplies
1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 24, 2018, 05:08:07 AM
Hey, I'm in USA with 120 volt power.... Now bitmain product says 1186 watts but now I've heard it needs 1450 watts....and I have the Bitmain AWP3++ (1200 watts max)

So I was planning to buy to buy a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EON40CS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 600 watt PSU + https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DV1Z22K/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1AMUYYA3CT6HJ an additional 2 6pin PCIE cables.

My question is, It appears the PSU with 600 watts comes with 2 PCIE 6pin connections, do you think I can add a 3rd and power a single one board with that power supply unit???

Also, If I'm in the USA on 120 volts should I use two separate wall outlets to plug in both PSU or is the single outlet fine?

Just want to make sure that the a3 will work with both PSU units before I buy that 2nd one with 600 watts.

Thanks

NO ! NO ! NO ! NO !!!
Please know exactly what you're doing before bricking your miner.

You need either a 1600W power supply on a 220V circuit or a 2000W+ power supply on a 110V to run the miner.
You can theoretically power each board witt a single 600W P/S that has 3 PCIE 6 pin connectors, but them you'll need 4 power supplies (for 3 hashing boards + one for controller)
no matter what you do , you can not connect multiple different power supplies to same board !
Preferably , you should run on a 208/220/240V circuit.

unless you know what you're doing, you may also have the risk of blowing your electrical circuits as well as getting your house on fire !!

you must be careful and know what youre doing !

HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

I don't have a 220 volt...

Why wouldn't 1 power supply APW3++ (1200 watts) with 3 pins-->1st board, 3 pins--> 2nd board, and 1 --> control + a second psu plugged into the same wall outlet or another at 120 volts with 600 watts do 3 pins--> 3rd board??
I dont see a problem with that, just make sure you use the same psu for each board

Ok, now on my wall outlet there are two plugs. Do I use both or do I plug it into another outlet with 2 plug options 5 feet away along with the first?

you need an electrician to look at this. Those outlets could be wired in series. You need a dedicated line with the correct gauge wire. This is a lot of wattage to be pulling through an unknown wire size. You can easily start a fire.
just flip your breakers with stuff connected to each outlet to find out if they are on the  same wire
you definitely want to have both power supplies on different circuits

Well I don't have an electrician.... Plus is 1800 watts really to much to be pulling on 120 volts?

That's why I'm asking do I plug both into same outlet and get lucky or do I plug one into an outlet and another 5 feet away???/?

read my post you dont neen an electrician to figure out what outlet is connected on the same breaker

and yes 1800 watt on 110v 15 amp is a max of 1600 watts or so
now if your outlet is 110 you have 2200 watts or so .

but remember you can only safely pull 1400 or so watts. from the 15amp and 1700 or so from the 20 amp

all this asumes they are on different circuits
1291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: January 24, 2018, 05:02:18 AM
I think what this thread needs is a type of bet.

Metroid says GPU mining will die in 2018....

So if GPU mining dies in 2018... Metroid wins for example 1BTC.

If it doesn't die in 2018 ... Metroid loses for example 1 BTC

Maybe Bitfinex could start a type of split coin market for this.

Miners could hedge their equipment with this market.
lol do it put ur $$ where u mouth is

buying cards in this price environment is madness

as you can see the price of currencies is tanking eth diff just went up 40th from 165 to 198th

soon gpu prices will drop as revenues from the calculators settle back in to $2 to $3 per card

thats when u want start buying.  For now either trade or buy asics

i raised the frequency to 625 from 600 and it raised the GH/S to 865 and only raised temp 5 degrees to 76 degrees

this is a beastly miner , Lots of watts though at 1600 or so though
bitmain is smart , rather than waste time worring about efficency they just rolled out
a high hash rate miner to kill obelisk 😂😂😂

Nobody is mad, thank you for the advice.

Update:

Been hooked up for about 30 minutes or more. Having some issues it seems.

The worker seem to be connected to MPH, but the max hashrate is 54 GH/s, and I've only mined 2.872 SIA as of now. Still says Socket Connect Failed: connection refused, miner status was showing before (forgot to check the hashrate there), but now its blank again.

Seems to me like these are being blocked or the mining pools aren't ready for these machines (if thats even possible hahaha)

Anyone else got theirs hooked up?
its too fast, check with antpool or suprnova
