News from bitmain for China only i think. Translate page to understand.

Tomorrow will be available 5000 units more for march delivery for only 1140 USD Cheesy

Yeah i can confirm that... they had long time since last releasing stock to the chinese market, tomorrow they will sell 5000 A3 to deliver last week of march... and the price is just 1/3 of the original price for this market. Also releasing 5k S9... 20k T9... 5k L3... making money like crazy...

20k T9 jeez, who even buys those peices of junk, 10 th for 1500 watts

In my humble opinion, 10 month ROI isnt really that good if you consider that the equipments are on very fast depreciation schedule.

The ROI isnt as persistent as other types of investments, primary because mining causes standard computer parts to fail prematurely.

My X79 still runs fine after 8 years of service becase I only do web browsing with it, but...

The video cards in a mining rig may die in 1-2 years or less due to heavy cryptomining and/or faulty riser boards. tbh, I'm having some doubts about getting into mining.... jumped in when ROI was about 6 months.

If you manage to kill a GPU in less than 5 years of mining on it, you're doing it WRONG.

I have quite a few cards that have been mining (or running the DNet client, which is also crypto work and JUST as intensive to the GPU) since the LITECOIN GPU mining days in 2013/2014 that are STILL mining away today.

Do quit spreading the "mining kills cards fast" FUD lies.

5 years is quite impressive. Would you share some tips?

Im getting into a bit of issue. My gpu's quality seem to be quite different from each other, despite all being from the same maker and batch. Some would clock at a higher freq given the same voltage some would be a bit lower. Any tips on modding or controlling a rig with gpu's all clocked differently?

3 years i can see but 5 years lol no way

Anyone had a problem with their GPU usage not being consistent and not at a high percentage? This is on a RX480 on stock bios, stock clocks, and tried blockchain, Adrenalin, and Crimson drivers. Hash rate is only 15 Mh/s

https://imgur.com/0w1X8Xx

open up your card, clean all the dirt, trust me there will shit ton of it. apply new thermal paste and then check again.
try to keep the card temperature atleast below 80.

you have to do this like once every two months

Ive had many of my GPUs for 2-3 years never had to do that, dont let dust build up clean them every few months , I will RMA those bitches before i waste my time re-applying thermal past lol

well honestly depends on where the setup is. there are places in the world where no matter how hard you try you cant avoid dust, unless its a special air conditioned room.

secondly, i dont feel thats waste of my precious 15 mins -.-
Dust is everywhere ,  but 15 mins x 200 gpus is better to just RMA

over 10000 errors does not give me confidence to overclock my boards, I like running them for longer than a week.

the bulk of the HW errors happen when the unit first joins the pool, then after an hour or too they stop

I do agree though , what is needed is a way to change the voltages and frequencies of boards individually, some  boards are fine with as high as 680 mhz

where others struggle at as low as 550
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Did GPU prices just double in the last few weeks on: January 28, 2018, 07:00:11 AM
Retail pricing for any cards that can be used for mining has gone up 10-25% compared to last month. Double is only if you don't mind getting screwed or want the cards now with minimal effort.

10-25% is still affordable for small miners. But here in my country, the price goes up to over 100%! The GTX 1070ti one can buy for only $400 (more or less) last year is now over $1000 depending on the brand. The sad thing is its availability, it's harder to find these days... I suspect retailers are hoarding the cards for more profits.

Retailers hoarding indeed! I was at my favorite electronics store looking at GPUs and I noticed immediately that there were barely any cards on the shelves in front of me. Like 1 1070 ACX 3.0 for $669 and a bunch of 1030s and 1050s (non ti). An associate asked me if I was looking for a certain card and pointed left to a top shelf over by the printers. Nothing but 1080/ti and 1070/ti stacked high and out of sight for most.

people have wised up, no one is buying cards worth $250- $500 at the $900 to $1k they want

once the stock builds back up probbaly in march prices will become semi normal again

Lmao not our fault they're too closed-minded to see the profitability. This trains not stopping for anyone. Mine on.

The profitability train is going to run into a major wreck called "Ethereum move to Proof of Stake" at some point, currently intended for late this year IIRC.

Gonna be a BIG shakeout when that happens, since there are more cards mining Ethereum THAN ALL OTHER COINS COMBINED and that huge hoard of GPUs is all going to be looking for new homes at the SAME time.

They keep saying that but even the first stage is hybrid POS and so miners are still needed for at least two years to test and vette that system

and the main factor you must take into account is that if the Ethereum team can deliver a scalable POS system that is faster than POW ( thier stated goal) Eth tokens will be worth far far more than they are now

so you could mine for the next 2 years and hold alot of coins and make alot of $$ long term in any case.

I'm in it for the long haul on the A3, and don't like the temps getting above 80 degrees. Has anybody had any luck underclocking these to a decent level? I cant seem to keep the temp below 80 despite max fan speed.

In a nice cold garage btw.

the PCB or chip temps ? mine are now all occed to 650mhs @ 900ghs and i see PCB temps below for one

Code:
Temp(PCB)	Temp(Chip)	ASIC status
1 60 650 312.48 10,470 58 77 oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo
2 60 650 298.47 6,640 57 77 oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo
3 60 650 313.25 28,900 60 80

the other is a bit more flakey

temps are around 75- 86 do i downclocked to 630 ish for same temps 880 ghs

how much does it make a day ?
1251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain just announced the AntMiner A3 - 815GH/s Siacoin miner - Blake(2b) on: January 27, 2018, 03:12:14 PM
here my data

Speed. 840.88 GHs
Temp(PCB): 74 74 79
Temp(Chip): 88 89 96
Fan Speed: 3,570
Customize the fan speed percentage is aktivated ro 55%
Noise is very good, is rather quiet

14000 SIA sinze the miner is running

And, i will hold all the coins over the next 1-2 years and sia will rise up to XXXX :-)
for me would be ok if just double
lol double ? you cant be serious, Its crazy to sell any sia until it hits at least a $1 at this point
the hashrate is about go go parabolic, it soon will be like dash when the obelisk Asics launch
-unminable by gpu and even 800 gh nets like 100 sia or less a day
im dead serious:
1. Sia is not Dash (Dash is hyped and heavily supported top-10 coin)
2. To get to 1$ Sia needs a miracle, but now all i see is spontaneous and emotional statements by their management - not good for coin price (even though they decided not to fork Sia - seed is sowed)
3. Obelisk production is now under big question - same hashrate as A3 in March or later make no sense at all (i'd quickly re-arrange algos/techs or return money to customers)
4. Hashrate will not go parabolic - it will grow upon new A3 connection to pools

double for a price target smells of FUD to me , heck it was tripple what it was back in dec when all alts pumped and your price target is a double ?! gimme a break lol , that basically invalidates every one of your other points , its mostly pros here bruh , not knee jerking newbies we know bs when we see it 😂
Where do you see price going?
its pointless to sell any sia till it hits at least .35 cents

personally ill hold for .50

those are stull high temps for the top and bottom chains, id down clock to 575

Noted..

I'm dropping ASICS on chain 3 again. FML.. Room temp is about 16C now. Is it safe to run with a couple dropped chips? or should I reboot a few times and get em to kick in again?

you dont want to be running with any dropped chips , no , just keep downclocking till you have less hardware errors over three hours , less than 100 or so

then slowly raise clocks till you find a stable setting and temps around 75-ish to 77 max on chips

pcb temps are fine around 50-65

is your fan set to 100% ?

I run in a climate controled serve room with lots of heat exhaust and I still have to set my fans to 100%

Im running stock settings
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone else having issues with their Antminer A3? on: January 27, 2018, 06:01:40 AM
I just about fried mine LOL.. Out of the box in a 22C room temperature was running 85c. Did some reading, sounded normal, and read that other models have overheat protection.. So I mean this one should have it too right??

Then while I was having a drink it overheated, I seen 96C on screen before I could get to it and shut it down, went into fault mode, solid red light. Would not hash, HW errors in the 15k+ within a minute. was only reading 54 ASICS on one of the hash boards.

WOW thought I really fried it... $3000 mistake FFS.. Reboot.. Nothing solid red light, power down and on, solid red light then one hash board 0 ASICS registered.

I did a factory reset using a pin in the reset hole, then after doing up the settings, and another reboot it all came back working again thank heavens.. I'm not a farmer.. just getting into ASIC (last time I used an ASIC was in 2013ish), and $3000 is a chunk of change.

So since I live in Canada and it's winter here, an open window with a box fan blowing in cold air to cool the entire room is working good. Temps are stable at 79, 69, and 83, factory clock.

Why didn't they put an overheat protection on the A3 like other models?? I have owned an A3 for 7 hours and I'm scared to leave my house now...

Can anyone with an A3 tell me if they are seeing a lot of hardware errors? Is it normal? My L3+ has run for 2 weeks with only 1 HW error. The A3 is in the thousands just overnight..

yeah same here, i reduced the frequency to around 525 mhs

What hashrate are you getting with 525 mhs?

My A3 is set to "default" setting. What is the normal frequency for the A3? Also when is warranty voided if you wanted to overclock? Anyone know?

waranty is voided, speed at 525 is around 780 ghs but shows 700 at the pool

the defaul its 600 it shows on the main mining dashboard next to the temps.  What are your chip and PCB temps ?

Ah yes I see frequency on main page now.

PCB Temps => 58, 58, 62
Chip Temps => 74, 84, 87

Avg Gh = 834.51 (15 min since I updated settings)

My Sia Output: https://siamining.com/addresses/05fbb51de819d9e60c3e24c239f23ad59cb022de4a1933e62844f6fc99c9e4bedc4ca686322b
what you are getting 834 with 525 freqency ?  your temps are alot better than mine

834 with default setting which is 600.

oh thats the same here, I dont like chip temps over 83 so i downclocked both mine
