So.... the time to check this way grows unboundedly with the number of transactions since the colored coin was created?
If this becomes a real problem, it may be solved with "re-genesis": sending an old colored coin back to the issuer for a new one.

|
Neither Mastercoin nor colored coins support SPV security. You can't tell if you've received a payment unless you are running a full node and storing the entire index (extended with an additional index for the overlay coin). And storing/updating the additional index could be arbitrarily expensive, especially if you want to support many different colors.
This is not entirely correct. All you need is to link the colored coin all the way back to the genesis of the color, and the link could be obtained by SPV. E.g. someone sends you a color coin. You look for its parent, grandparent, ......, until you find the genesis.

Mastercoin offers an array of different features which are not present in Bitcoin. If you do some research, you will see that Mastercoin improves on the Bitcoin protocol, and it is much better than the colored coin concept in many regards.
But some of the Mastercoin features are stupid. For example, transient data like the bid/ask orders do not require consensus.

Only 31k BTC left on the orderbook. Get yours while you still can... IMO it doesn't matter which price you buy it at right now: BTC is going to the heavens in the coming months.
Gox liquidity is collapsing. No one wants to sell there anymore. I suspect many of those 30k XBT are actually gox's coins

Let's be realistic this is probably nothing to do with Baidu management or employees but some techy in a newly acquired subsidiary who convinced the boss to accept Bitcoin for their DDoS protection service.
It depends on how Baidu works internally and how much freedom is given to subsidiaries. For a big company like Baidu they should have all these rules written.
|
|
|
That would be okay if we started with this rule at the very beginning. You may start an alt-coin with this feature but that won't be bitcoin. We had rule changes in bitcoin, but only technical, not economical.
|
|
|
It's possible, but people will tell you to wait for 0.9 features. I'm not keen on waiting on other people when I can help myself, so I did it anyway to implement refunds on http://paythru.toIf the protocol landscape changes, I'll update my app in due time, but asking developers not to develop is ridiculous. This is extremely IRRESPONSIBLE. You don't even warn people for not to use a shared wallet in the FAQ. This is just a TRAP

THIS is HUGE news cant believe it. its the google of asia and they take bitcoin (market cap of $53 billion; NASDAQ-listed company) even if this is only advertising. until now its "only" for the "Jiasule service" but the news is hot like hell We all know that the "first confirmation" is always the biggest uncertainty in bitcoin transaction. When it enters the blockchain, further confirmations is just a matter of time

Hopefully good news but lets not get ahead of ourselves, that payment address so far has about $23 in it.
Those are only donations. I won't expect the volume would be high in the near future. This is mostly a gesture and PR move. BTW, thanks for the one who donated 0.01XBT to me

It seems the bitcoin payment is not automated. User have to inform the administrator before they pay and it will be processed manually.
Seems reasonable to me. Even if it's probably because they don't have a system set up yet for manual payments, there will probably only be a trickle at first and they would be wise to be wary of fraud attempts, so manually processing transactions until they get the hang of it is completely sensible. BAIDU will use YesBTC.co BTC API for bitcoin ACCEPTED. YesBTC Just like Paypal. http://YesBTC.coSource? I don't think Baidu would easily use a third party payment processor unless it's a really big one like Tenpay or Alipay

Let us continue upwards.
Somebody still believes that we will revisit the $40-$70 area ever again? I told my wife that we would never see <100 again, and Silkroad was busted 2 days later

True, but one has to give it time, and the PR value by itself is probably non-trivial in terms of getting other companies to take the plunge in the future. Most people are trend followers and and not trend setters, and thus only adopt ideas after they've been vetted by larger third parties. That piece of the puzzle is now in place, this is the Chinese equivalent of the Wordpress announcement, not a big deal in terms of transaction volume but perhaps a big milestone on the road to becoming mainstream.
+1. The transaction volume is expected to be LOW. Obviously they are using this to promote their latest branded service. But that's win-win. BTW, the BTCC has just touched 890. When will be break 900?

a whole 0.0008543 BTC so far True, but one has to give it time, and the PR value by itself is probably non-trivial in terms of getting other companies to take the plunge in the future. Given the context, seems appropriate to quote a wise Chinese philosopher: a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step (even though I doubt they used British distance units in 600BC China...) That's Chinese mile, not British mile https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_(unit)

Baidu Jashule is only a small company, that was acquired by Baidu just recently and that offers services comparable to Cloudflare. That might be interesting for admins, but Zhang the plumber will prolly never hear about this.
FTFY: Jashule WAS only a small company. It was acquired by Baidu last month, the biggest Internet content provider in China, as its latest branded service.

Even worse than translate.google I have to admit Google translation is not that bad. To save time, I first used google translation and revised the result.

How about a wager of 1BTC? For anyone who believe this is a scam, put your money where your mouth is

As always, the subject is artificially misleading... It's not the Baidu itself. Shame on you!
Is Google+ Google? If Google+ accepts bitcoin, is it Google itself accepting bitcoin? Baidu Jiashule is a service provided by Baidu (BIDU): http://jiasule.baidu.com/overview/ (I'm not going to translate for you). Do you think a random service can abuse a NASDAQ listed company name without being sued?
