Looks to me that all those artificial gains from 2016/2017 will be erased
we're going back to 500-600 $

Fair enough. Oh yeah, we're all melting, this is doomed, everything is going to piff.....
1983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2018, 07:50:29 PM
overbuild them. like 100% overbuilt. i like huge safety margins.

and have a licensed electrician do the power delivery lines.
Agreed on the electrician. I like testing miners on a fire resistant surface myself Smiley
1984  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2018, 07:36:20 PM
You haven't almost set your house on fire from a miner blowing flames out the grate, have you? Smiley

Mining is fun, just be aware of the fire risk. And it generates heat for your home, great on those cold nights.
1985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2018, 07:22:40 PM
fix some holes in some teeth, make your broken miner, earn and buy some BTC , BTFD

do all this while your turkey is coocking then just eat have fun with your FAM,FRIENDS and just know the BTC's you hodl are brewing to join the BULLrun for when it starts...........

in belgium no thanksgiving day, so its just go for sports, get home eat some late evening things and just watch some TV/BTC-shit.....
Interesting. Maybe next year I can cook a turkey with the heat from bitcoin miners. Hm.....

Not much of a business in fixing miners right now other than Titans (damn things will last forever); Antminers are not worth it although the next S15 will probably be the same design as the S9/7/whatever they seem to churn out.

What's with this unusual influx of new users?
Maybe in the US it's called Thanksgiving, but everywhere else it's "Sock puppet day"?
1987  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2018, 06:12:32 PM
Well I have the turkey in the oven and am making a metric fuckton of food. Oddly enough I'm pretty thankful for this forum: The people are weird, but overall good.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Mcafee is a drug addicted scumbag.  He was taking bribes to promote shitcoins.

this guy is a money loving attention whore.
For sure, I wouldn't entrust a single dollar to that guy.
I knew John a long time ago, and ran into him at BSides a couple of years back.

He is not... well.

Wonder how much they had to pay to make a chart like that.

My opponent lives in a gingerbread house.....
1990  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 21, 2018, 03:36:27 AM
There is no doubt that Bitcoin mines are struggling and shutting down, possibly even going bankrupt. However, this idea that they’re throwing away machines in this fashion that are still selling for hundreds of dollars each is nothing more than a fantasy.

Also, Bitmain is not going belly up. They’re about to list a multi-billion dollar IPO. Let’s keep a little bit of sanity.

That's going to be the biggest joke IPO in history. And yeah, I doubt they are chucking gear like that.
1991  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 21, 2018, 03:11:06 AM
the red numbers at current diff are

12 cent power and 7697 price mines at a loss
11 cent power and 7055 price mines at a loss
10 cent power and 6414 price mines at a loss
I suspect these miners have shut down a lot of  thier gear

9 cent power and 5772.10 price mines at a  loss
8 cent power and 5131.10 price mines at a  loss
7 cent power and 4489.10 price mines at a  loss
this is the group that will be shutting down if this lingers at these prices

6 cent power and 3848.10 price mines at a  loss
5 cent power and 3207.10 price mines at a  loss = these miners may do okay  since diff will drop a bit.

4 cent power and 2565.10 price mines at a  loss
3 cent power and 1923.10 price mines at a  loss =  these are doing just fine for today and I am think they  don't feel pain unless we drop  to 1750

This of course assumes your floor rental cost is zero, payments on the equipment are zero, maintenance is zero, and of course the one slave who runs the mine is paid 0.

At this point I think these dingbats are mining at a loss. Otherwise they would have crashed the market earlier just to wipe out other miners and lower the difficulty. That's why (IMO) it was rolling around 6500 or so.

Eh, we'll see what happens with this dick-fest.

So if you need something to lull you to sleep, I'd recommend this:

10 hours of a screaming sun from Rick and Morty.

Sweet dreams!

Is this where the fucking $3,300 wall number is coming from? I was wondering who was pulling that number and from where.
I think their number is a bit low. They estimate 5c/kw for an S9 while the Chinese average for electricity is around 8c, and the US is around 10-12c. I think right now they're mining at a loss, and dumping coins to try and support this stupid hash war. Guess it will be worth it, but it's not sustainable in the long run.
1994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2018, 09:45:15 PM
It's more than 3300. With S9's I would guess it's around 6k a coin at current difficulty. Granted you could ratchet the diff down slowly, but I think they're mining at a loss now to wave dicks. Eventually they will have to pay investors/electric bills/bribes.
1995  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2018, 11:42:46 AM
Eh, geometric failure at that age, things really fall apart quickly. Kind of like Bitcoin this week.

Haven't seen any suicide spacemen, so we're not at the bottom yet.
1996  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2018, 10:31:31 AM
Crazy week, no doubt. Definitely picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

then get back on it for a few weeks-months

Eh, this is just a really screwed up month. Going to be hell for bitcoin ATM operators, the things will be stuffed so full of worthless fiat as people buy the fucking dip....

But a good chance to pick up some coins and replenish the supply. Hm.....

1998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2018, 07:20:35 PM
Yeah, back to 6500 is my guess.
1999  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2018, 02:03:56 PM
Well, there's a lot going on with the chain: Blockchain.info is reporting 3,000 tps.

Summary    Status:Connected
Total Fees    270.12662831 BTC
Total Size    1646533.03 (KB)
Transactions Per Second    3000.71

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/unconfirmed-transactions

Even if their math is crocked, this is way higher than the normal 3-15 tps.
Is that spam or something stirring?

From a sabotage point of view, spam looks mostly useless at the moment (it would have made sense a week or so ago). But what do I know? Come on, WO pundits, offer your take on this!
Well, it does spike around, but it is odd....
2000  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2018, 01:55:01 PM
To be fair I understand everything from a pure investor and investment point of view. Just Bitcoin would be missing out on potential profits.

You spelled "losses" wrong there.
